Welcome to the Daily HEET, Healthy Eaters and Exercise Team!

This is a Motivational and Support Group and is open to anyone who wants to join. All you have to do is start posting! There are no specific challenges or weigh-in dates. This is a Work at Your Own Pace, Do Your Own Thing group and each member will be responsible for accomplishing their own goal(s) in their own time.

As a HEETer, it’s important to post at least once a day to not only *receive* motivation but *give* it to your Teammates as well. While there are no requirements to open up your Food Diary, feel free to share a general post of what you will be eating for the day and what type of exercise you have planned or accomplished. In addition, post the things you struggled with during the day, as well as those things you overcame and how you did it. As a Team, we may be able to offer assistance or get ideas that can help us all reach our goals faster.

If you are ready to start eating healthy and start moving your body, then feel free to join in anytime!

What a great idea for a group!

Today I got up early and did Power90 Sculpt. I love strength training- I just wish I would get stronger! (I know I am...just want to see it through my arm chub!)

I am hoping to run this afternoon- I have to drive 2 hours to pick up my sons Rx's so I may not get to- but I shall try.

Not sure about what the food situation is today- I am about to make a Spirutein protein shake- probably with some berries and cocoa- or maybe a chocolate banana. Will I add baby spinach- YES!

Today is my grocery day so my list will be made and I will have lots of choices for supper. But I am really thinking of a turkey meatloaf with some steamed veggies.

Hope ya'll have a GREAT day!
    Nan
  • GOOOD Morning HEETers!!

It's a new month and a new attitude! Fight the Flab February is my motto for the month!

January was successful for me but it's in the past. I'm ready to keep moving forward. I lost 9 pounds, 4.5 inches overall and walked 55 Miles. My goal for February is to be 199 or less by my birthday on the 16th. I also want to keep focusing on my food choices. Got the water under control, the dairy under control now I want to start focusing on getting at least 2 fruits everyday.

Welcome Chris...Sorry to start the new thread just minutes after you made your first post in the old one. I hope you find us here in our new thread!!

Welcome Nan...I just looked at your signature line...awesome progress and glad to have you aboard!

Arf - you can handle it! Go kick some Boot Camp Butt!!

I had a piece of Peanut Butter Toast, an Apple and a glass of Silk Chocolate Soy Milk for breakfast this morning and am already chugging on my water. Dinner tonight is going to be Fish and/or Shrimp. Lunch TBD after I get my dinner logged and see how many calories I have left. Plan on getting some walking in today. Still can't *touch* the bruise on my leg (you should see this thing...it's UGLY) but I'm able to walk on it without it throbbing so it's time to get back to it.

Have a Flab Fighting First day of February Friends!!

Hey Veggie--what's this ...you took my birthday?? Mine's the 16th, too, lol! Best fo Luck on your goals this month!

I'm just awaiting the blizzard.....I got stocked up and ready yesterday and have been doing house work. I had a quick breakfast of 2 boiled eggs and a piece of wheat toast and I'll be nursing the coffee most of the morning. It's really pretty outside from the inside of the window! Have a great day, I'll probably be popping in out most of the day.
  • I had forgotten we are going to start a new thread. Busy morning for me. I just finished up 65 minutes of walking and burned 403 Calrories. I feel great. I love to exercise and I love how it makes me feel when I am done. I am finding that I can do more things that I couldn't do before. I can keep up with my kids better. I can't wait till the day when I can actually take them to the park and run with them. That is one of my goals too.

Welcome nannykb, and Chris!! This group is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Lilac!! How FUN to have the same birthdays!! :flowerforyou: I'm aware of that monster storm sweeping across the country. Glad to hear you stocked up! Sure hope you don't lose power - you are SO close to the one year mark!! When do you expect it to hit your area? That way if you don't log in we'll know what's up and we can keep you in our thoughts.

R2L - Keep up the good work!! That's terrific that you are finally able to get your Treadmill!! Yay!!!!

Got a little kitchen clean up to do then I'm going to pop in Leslie and get in a few miles.

    Later Gators!
  • Thanks for the welcome! Just finished my 65 minute walk and burned 300 calories!

Good morning! Welcome, Nan and Chris!

I can feel your enthusiasm through the screen, R2L. Great job on the walk! You too, Chris!

VT, I'm glad the bruise isn't too hampering anymore. I hope it goes away soon!

As for me, I'm in good spirits today, even though I felt like a world-class figure skater this morning! It was slick out there! Lilac (I think), I hope the storm winds up being not too bad. We've been pretty much dodging bullets left & right this winter after being buried last winter.

I've been successfully avoiding work. Maybe I should try and act like I want to earn my keep. Have a great day!!

Our Blizzard warning is in effect now until about 12 pm Wed. I'm in central IL and we're expecting 16-24 in of snow, with upto 40 mph gusts. Needless to say we're all staying in and making it a "snow day"! I hope we'll keep power!

R2L and Chris, keep up the great work! Ceelovejay, I hope you keep safe and warm!

I'll check in later, enjoy you're day!
  • Hello everyone. No counting today:frown: My power just got turned back on...A fire going for hours, and it only go up to 55-60 degrees. I had crackers for breackfast, me and the kids, no power no hot food....but I am hoping it stays on now. Anyone else here from oklahoma?

By the way I had to go to my car to use my phone, (I have a charger in the car) and had to go through a snow drift that was up to my waist.!!! If the storm is heading your way, try to stay warm!
  • Chris - Excellent Walk and what a GREAT calorie burn!!

Ceejay - I bet you'd make a lovely figure skater! With that said...I'm sure you'd much prefer to do it in an ice rink and not on the sidewalks or streets! Keep dodging those bullets! Spring will be here before we know it and we'll all be complaining about the heat and humidity!

Lilac - (((Hugs))) Keep us posted. I'm thinking about you GF!!

It's amazing how fast a body can go downhill. One week off from exercise and I felt just like I did the very first day. Ugh. Hopefully I'll rebound quickly and regain some of that new-found strength I had going on! 30 minutes and only 180 calories but I'll take it!!

    See ya later!

Edit - Oh, Phly!!! So sorry to hear that! I hope everyone is OK! Get yourself warmed up, eat something comforting tonight and we'll pull the wagon up to your door tomorrow. HUGS!!

    Hello everyone.
I hope you all stat safe and warm during this storm. I am up in NH today was our light day. I am smack dab in the red blob of 20-25 inches. Fortunately we are suppose to get the light snow where everyone around the red blob is suppose to get the heavy packed down snow. I hoping the power stays on I don't have a fireplace.

VT Thank you for keeping this post going. hope you are up to your max workout soon.

Did my treadmill workout today. ususally I do one day treadmill and the next wii fit. Today was suppose to be my wii day but I wanted to see how far I could run on my treadmill. I have been doing the c25k and week four has been a killer. I heard week 5 had an 8 minute run. I decided to give it a whirl and I did it one 8 minute stretch. (I could never have come close to that a month ago)

I love this site there are so many wonderful motivating people with a wealth of info. (sometime you have to filter it and do more research, but that just makes you think more.)

Thanks everyone. I hope you have a great night.
My successes for January, too numerous to count so I will pick my top 3.

    I exercised 29 out of 31 days.
    I lost 11 lbs
I did not go over my calorie goal at all. (this one was not planned. I realized it toward the end of the month and decided to keep going.)

    love you all
    be safe
  • Hi there. This looks like just the thread I've been looking for. I've been here Sept but didn't do much till November when I got the hang of logging in every day and keeping good track of my food. I did great in January, abstained completely from alcohol, spread my meals out through the day (I was a big dinner eater and justified some wine or even beer on the weekends) did JM DVDs 4-5 days per week and walked 3 miles 3 Saturdays and 6 on another. Guess all that got my metabolism moving, I lost 11 pounds and a total of over 6 inches in January. I have my goal set at 1.7 pounds per week and have 60 or more pounds to loose. My diary is open (or open to friends, Id have to go look) am open to any and all advise and suggestions. I try to comment on all my friends losses and diary notes everyday. Um.... can't think of anything else right now except I am being treated for some serious hives right now and my meds gave me bad reactions today so I had to cut my workout short. Hate missing that feeling amd now being extra careful not to go over calories.

Welcome Cristy!! I love this group and I think it's wonderful!!
  • Good Evening HEETers!

Plume - I LOVED your comment about too many accomplishments to count for last month!! Yay for you!! And the three choices you picked to share were AWESOME! Not one single day of going over you calories. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! And congrats on your first 8 Minute Mile! I hope you have some supplies stocked up in the house in case you lose power or get stranded in the house for a period of time. Stay safe and stay warm.

Welcome Cristy! So glad you found us! I glanced through your Food Diary and it looks like you are doing pretty good. If you found your groove and it's working for you...stick with it!

I went out to the garden earlier and picked my first head of cabbage. It weighed 1.5 pounds. Small, but we have about 5 coming in right behind it so I went ahead and cut it. I also pulled a couple carrots and made a coleslaw to go with our Shrimp. The Shrimp is marinating in a sweetish kind of marinade with some fresh OJ so I made a sweet slaw with some OJ Concentrate and Mandarin Oranges. I toasted some Pecans and will add them just before serving. DH will grill the Shrimp shortly but he's been playing in the garden since he got home. He pulled some gorgeous Golden Beets. We've had terrible germination with them and there's only one left out there. I planted more a couple months ago but again, they're just not growing. I'll be roasting them next week. I hope they taste as good as they look!

Gonna get the Shrimps scewered and get DH out on the grill. I'll try to check back one more time tonight.

For those in the path of the storm...please take proper precautions and be safe!!

    Good morning all!

I am super sore today! Boot Camp class last night was a killer. And, I woke up at 3:30am this morning..ugh! I have a long day today...have to go to the office early and have a conference call with my CFO in germany, then my son has a consult with an oral surgeon to have 7 teeth extract for his braces, then errands, then work. It'll be a long long day!

Hope you all have an awesome day!
  • Good Morning everyone!! I am up and ready to go this morning. I peeked at the scales this morning and I am up 1.2 pounds but so not stressing or worrying about it since I was over on my sodium yesterday by 390. No more looking at the scales till Monday for me. I can't wait till Monday to go grocery shopping. Right now I am kinda having to eat whatever we have in the house, it's all good stuff but I am so sick of the same things over and over again. I am ready for some variety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arf, wow sounds like you have a very busy day today. I hope you have a great one.

My son Jacob will be screened and registered for Pre-Kindergarten on the 10th of March. Hard to believe my baby is going to be 4 on July 14th and possibly be going to school all day at the same Elementary School that my daughter goes to. Anna Grace went to Pre-K and she loved it. she had so much fun. I won't know what to do with myself then. I will miss him so much. I want to go back to school to be a Medical Transcriptionist and work at home, so we will see. I am waiting on some info for that. Well, I am off to exercise. I will be back later.
  • Good Morning!

Arf...WOW! What a day! I hope everything falls in to place and doesn't throw you off schedule. Way to go on the Bootcamp!

Looks like me and R2L are in the same boat. Wednesday Weigh In for me reported a gain of 1.5 pounds but I'm not stressing either. I do this all the time. Up, down, up, down and since I had a rough week last week I kind of expected it. It's a new...and better week...and the scale will catch up.

Looking for Lilac!!! Please check in as soon as you can!! How are you making out with the storm?

Menu planning day today and more desk work. I swear I paid all these bills last month and they just keep sending me more! :grumble:

Have a great day! I'll check back later.
  • Had a great breakfast of yogurt and apples with the twins followed by a 2 mile walk/run. I made a bean salad yesterday that will be used for bean and tuna quesadilla's for dinner. I can't wait! I think I may do a little cardio kickboxing this morning to round out my calorie burn. Have a great day everyone!

    Good morinig ladies.
Having a good day so far. I think I am going to take advantage of some free exercise and go shovel some snow. I have seen some people really rack up a some calories. I think I should try.

VT I love hearing all your gardening tales. I don't have a green thumb and no ability to grow anything up here. Very short gowing seasons. btw I wish I could say it was an 8 minute mile but it wasn't even close I just ran for 8 minute straight. (running is all new to me.)

Reiki I def need that recipe for bean and tuna quesadilla. it sound scrumptious.

Hope you all have a great day.
  • Chris - looks like you are off to a good start! I'll second Plume - what's in your Bean Salad?

Plume - If you were closer I'd grab my shovel and come help. I agree with the calorie burn. I've seen lots of people digging out this winter and they are posting really good burns! Still haven't heard from Lilac. We may all have to grab a shovel and form a search party and dig her out! Lol at the Green Thumb. I've been known to kill fake plants, that's why this adventure is so exciting to me. To be able to grow something from a seed, walk out to the yard and decide what I want to fix for lunch or dinner is one of the coolest things I've ever done!

    >>>Check this out HEETers...I got inspired by an Eatingwell recipe, Cinnamon Peanut Butter Muffin. No muffins but I had some low-cal bread and mixed up the Cinnamon Sugar. I was skeptical but thought it was something different and sounded kind of fun. I got more than halfway through and thought, "This isn't bad at all and reminds me of Cinnamon Raisin Bread". So, I topped the last little piece with a few raisins. YUM!! I'm not sure I would eat it every morning because of the added sugar but it was fun and tasty and if I'm ever craving Cinnamon Raisin Toast I can skip the regular butter and have this. I'm SURE kids would love it!

Off to finish my menu's then tackle my MESK, aka, messy desk.:ohwell:
  • Well we are still here. I have an extra family member today though, (my neighbor got stuck on the other side of town, and is staying with friends, we have her son.) My scale was good to me today still not where I was last week, but close. It just goes to show IT IS HARDER TO LOOSE THAN TO GAIN!!!! I am going to be more careful this month! I hope everyone makes it through the storm ok.

VT, wow I wish I could grow things...no room in an appartment tho:grumble: so for now I will live vicarously through you! if ya don't mind:bigsmile: :flowerforyou:
  • Thanks everyone! Here is the recipe for the bean salad (though it changes, depending what I have on hand). I use it for a soup, a cold salad over a bed of Artisan Lettuce, sometimes with lemon zesty tuna, or as a hot side dish (just ad some corn).

Here is the one I made yesterday:

    Black Bean Salad:
1 can low sodium black beans
    1 can chick peas
    1 can kidney beans
    1/2 chopped sweet onion
    1 chopped zucchini
    1 cup diced tomatoes (optional)
    1/2 chopped green bell pepper
    2 tbsp. Red wine vinegar
    1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
    Grated Parmesan (optional condiment)
    Salt and Pepper to Taste

Just mix the above up in a bowl. That simple, nothing to it. I usually rinse all of the beans to reduce the sodium. This makes between 8-10 servings.

    Black Bean Salad Quesadilla:
    1 Serving Black Bean Salad
    1 Jalepeno (optional)
    1 100% Light Tortilla
1/4 Cup Shredded Cheese (your choice)
1/4 Cup Hickory Tuna Creation (or Garlic and Herb)
    Cooking Spray

Add the Jalepeno to the Black bean salad. Place the tortilla in a sprayed pan, fill, fold and cook until cheese is melted. Flip halfway through. I have never made a quesadilla out of the salad, so I will let you know how it goes :)
  • Phly - Don't let the weight issue get you down. Just keep plugging along every day. Hope your friend is OK.

Chris - That Bean Salad looks yummy. We'll pass on the Chickpeas, though. For some reason, as much as DH and I both love beans of all kinds, neither of us can stomach those buggers. Whenever I make a Bean Salad, if we have leftovers that won't get eaten as is and need to be re-created I always whiz it up in the food processor and make a wrap and/or dip out of it. I've never thought of leaving it as is and putting in a wrap. Depending on the mixture I bet it would be good in a Pita too, come to think of it! Ha, now my mind is replaying some of the recipes I've made and new ways to re-purpose them!

Had a Morningstar Farm Corndog for lunch. I love those things! Makes me feel like I'm being naughty but I'm not!

    Menu's are done...

Friday - Baked Italian Subs (lightened up version)

Lunch for Saturday and Sunday - EatingWell Avocado and Bean Wraps

Saturday - EW Braised Paprika Chicken, over W/W Egg Noodles, Roasted Garden Beets

Sunday - EW Maple Chili Glazed Pork, EW Calico Corn and a green veggie of some kind

Monday - EW Moo Shoo Vegetables over Whole Grain Pasta (depending on how the Glazed Pork tastes I may add some to this veggie mix for some protein)

Tuesday - EW Beer Battered Fish Tacos with Tomato and Avocado Salsa and Sweet Potato

Wednesday - EW Steak and Potato Kebabs with Creamy Cilantro Sauce (this is a repeat...we LOVED this recipe!), salad (I also commented last time that I bet the Cilantro Sauce would make a good salad dressing so might try that)

Thursday - Leftovers or Heat and Eat

Still haven't gotten to my MESK and have some typing to do for the Old Boss. Told him I'd email him today so I better get on it. The MESK will have to wait a bit...Keep it Healthy!!!
