R2L - You can do the same thing with your blog but you need to take another step with the MFP blog and use the HTML code. If you want instructions just let me know.0

Hi everyone. I wanted to join here, thrn got distracted with some health issues, slept through my workout time this morning, but stayed under calories, looked back on my Jan diary and since some way over on new years, I did really good, under or barely over 99% so that was encouraging for me. I'm in AZ so I have no ice or snow to deal with, just have to cover and put lights on my tomatoe plants overnight
Tomorrow is my weigh-in, and I'm planning on doing Jillian Michaels No more trouble Zones DVD, which is very challenging for me!
I will remember this group and check in daily. Look forward to reading your posts and seeing progress. Also excuse if my posts sometimes have.typos or weird words, I'm on a touch screen phone when I'm not at work0 -
VT! LOL The *ONLY* reason I don't write expiration dates on ours is because with two teenage boys in the house there is NEVER any danger of food spoiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, there's only ever a full fridge for 5 minutes after i get home from a grocery run! LOL
My kids call me the "matching queen"..our entire house is Ikea and the only colors allowed in the house are black white and red!
Well...the bootcamp was torture tonight! My hip popped out of joint which was awesome (not the first time, but still painful). I'm exhausted and having full body muscle spasms. So on that note, I will go and check in on ya'll in the morning if I am still alive!0 -
Good morning to all! I loved reading everyone's posts yesterday. Lots of great laughs and a nice serving of inspiration!
The twins woke up cranky today, but I won't let that get me down. I will do my "fun workout" (200 calories burned playing Dance Center Workout Mode on the Kinect) during their nap. It always brightens my day!
I am going to have a light breakfast (yogurt) and lunch (salad) so I have plenty of calories for dinner. We do "take out Friday" every week, and tonight I am ordering Paneer Tikka Masala from my favorite Indian restaurant. Yummy!0 -
Good Evening HEETers!
Lilac - No sole wearing out yet, lol! Shoe shopping is absolute torture for me. My whole entire life I had super high arches and had to modify most of my shoes in some form or fashion with supports or pads. Then I found Keds in my 30's. The heavier kind, not a full sneaker but not the lighter lace up ones either. Kind of in between. For some reason, they fit me perfectly. It was the only shoe I would wear for years and years and then they started to become harder to find. I found a whole slew of them at Sam's Club one day and bought 10 pair and kept them in my closet. Then I bought this house and gutted it on my own. Eight months of standing on bare Terrazzo floors, no foot support and quite a bit of added weight really did a number on my feet. Now my arches are falling and I have wicked bad foot pain most days. So, a couple years ago I found a pair of Saucony's I liked and bought two pair. Pulled the new one out of the closet when I started walking this year. A couple weeks ago I found another sneaker that fit me really well, New Balance, and bought two pair of those. So I now have a new pair on my feet, one in the closet plus the Saucony's which are back in the closet. I've got a few soles to go through! And yes, I still have a few pair of Keds tucked in to the back corner.
Arf - My Orginazational Sistah from Anotha Mistah!! I am the laughing stock of my family!! I drive my family absolutely NUTS with my organization. Even though it's just me and DH in the house whenever family members come to visit it's always a big joke to go mess something up and see how long it takes me to find it (which is almost immediately I'm embarrassed to say). I don't have a label maker but have a huge pantry and all the labels MUST be facing forward. I take a Sharpie to every single item and date them with expiration dates. If it's a shiny/slick label that the Sharpie won't adhere to it gets a piece of Blue Painter's Tape with the date and I rotate everything after every shopping trip. I kid you not! My fridge is the same way and I know when there is an *empty spot* exactly what goes there! I was so bad at one point I used to even rotate our Toilet Paper! I still kind of do, but don't admit to it, at least not in proper company, LOL!!
Nothing much exciting going on here. It's leftover night. Nothing left but a piece of chicken and a bit of salad from last night that DH will eat and I made some Black Bean Dip/Spread for lunch today that I'm going to have. Getting ready to post the pics to my blog and sign off.
Hope you all have a great night and will see you tomorrow! :glasses:
Edit to add: Cross posted with Plume and R2L...
R2L - to post pics on the board you need to upload your pics to Photobucket or something similar. It's free and you can upload a ton of pics but I have a Premium Membership with unlimited space because of all my cooking photos. Since it's the one I use I can give you directions for it, even though I had a wicked time last night. Problems on Photbuckets end is all I can think of.
Sign up, upload your photos. When you scroll your mouse over the picture a drop down box will appear. I think there's 4 choices...Direct Link, HTML, XXXX????, and IMG. You want the IMG code. If you click it, it will automatically copy. Then come here and paste the link, but, you have to modify it a bit. The code will look something like this ....See those two "IMG's"? You need to change them both from Upper Case to Lower Case. Leave the forward slash at the one on the end. Easy, Peasy.
Can't wait to see your new hair cut!!
VT, Oh my goodness. I am so glad to know there are other people like me that love to oraganize as much as I do. I know where everything in my house goes and if someone moves it. I have all the cans in my pantry facing the front, and everything in my Fridge, freezer, and deep freezer has it's place. I drive my husband nuts when it comes to the fridge. He is like as long as it's in the fridge what does it matter? I am like I like it neat and when I go to get something I want to know where it is. I think I am a little bit OCD on the matter of the fridge. My kid's clothes have to be neat and orderly in their drawers. Like I have their summer stuff in one drawer with their shirts on one side and shorts on the other, their winter stuff in another drawer shirts on one side and pants on the other. I have their socks in one drawer and they must be neat and the same thing with their underwear. Their Jackets must be hung on the coat rack and not all over the house. The same things apply to mine and my hubby's clothes as well. And don't even get me started about folding clothes, the towels all have to go the same way in the bathroom as well as the wash clothes, etc. My desk my computer sits on has to be neat and orderly and if it's not it drives me crazy.0 -
Good Morning everyone!! I am up and rearing to go this morning. Going to strap on my HRM in a few minutes and get busy walking. I will not go over on my calories today. I am going to be good. I am loving my new haircut!! It's so easy to style and doesn't take forever and that is a good thing since I don't have a whole lot of time in the mornings to make a fuss over my hair and makeup and all that stuff. I am so not a morning person so I stay in bed as long as I can in the mornings before I have to get up and take my daughter Anna Grace to school. Well, I am off to finish eating my breakfast and then exercise. I will be back later.0

Good morning! Well I did it! Up at 4:30, got my hubby's food made and packed up and got to my 5 am workout on time. Jillian Michaels no more trouble zones and I did the whole thing! Which has been a struggle for me. 55 minutes, 464 calories burned! And.... down another 2 pounds this week! Still dealing with a mysterious rash, either some sort of allergic reaction or caused by a virus, they don't know, but are pumping me full of steroids and antihistamines. I'm soaking in a oatmeal and buttermilk bath before work. Glad this is my short day (8 hours). And jeans Friday too, I already tried on a pair of jeans I've been waiting to fit into last night and they fit! Yay! So I'm excited to wear them. Have a great day everyone!0

So it's snowing again. that means more working out in the house for me, I miss the gym...Its smallbut it has the elliptical (sp?). But on the bright side my zumba is supposed to get here today!
Question for those with a heart rate monitor. What kind do you use? And how much are they? And where do you find them? Never seen one, and never thought about getting one untill now. Horable I know!
I know it's only day 4 in Feb. but I am on a roll! Hopfully I can keep this up. It's easyier now than last month:bigsmile: Everyone have a wonderful friday!0 -

Phly, I have a Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor. I got it on the Walmart website and I think it was over $100.00. It came with a chest strap and I do recommend that you get one with a chest strap b/c they are the most accurate. I have had mine for over 2 years and I love it. Where did you get your Zumba? I would love to try that.0 -

I got it at game stop. It's for the wii, I ordered it online, if you set up a free account you get a discount. I ordered it online because my car is still stuck in the snow.0 -
this is just me playing around to see if I can actually post a pic. thanks VT, I finally figured it out!
Not the best pic in the world but I love my hair, lol.0 -
R2L You look great! And So happy!
So I downloaded the podcast for couch to 5 k and ran it today just to see if I could do it. Heres how it went:
Walk at brisk pace for 5 mins, Easy enough.
run for 60seconds, "I did it this is oing to be easy!"
repeat walking for 90secs, rotated in 60secs running 3 times, "wow I did it!"
continue....."O crap silly me, why did I think this would be easy?"
Long story short I did it! My legs are twitching, but I did it!
I ran for 8 mins. Well jogged, but still my 260+ *kitten* jogged for 8 mins!
I think I will use this couch to 5 k. I just did it today to see if I could.
thanks for listening to me rant!0 -

That was me the first 3 time I ran I was like this is good, but by the 4th it was hard, 5th time I was ready to run away from my treadmill. By that time I only like 2 or 3 more times to run I had to finish it. :flowerforyou:
you did good.0 -

Thanks Phly. Congats on your success with jogging for 8 minutes. I am not brave enough yet for jogging.0 -
dlaplume, thanks, glad to know i'm not the only one:happy: have you made it? Are you doing the couch to 5 k?
R2L thanks. You can do it! It has good motivational music.
I figure that I will stay at week 1 untill it's a breeze, then move to week 2. I hope this snow goes away soon. This will be more fun outside!0 -
All this talk of jogging makes me feel old and fat, LOL!!! Not really! I'm okay with where I am and knowing my limitations. Tomorrow is my walk day and I will try for 4 miles, I walk between 3.5 to 4 mph. I have a beautiful place to walk and it is supposed to be 67 and sunny here tomorrow, so I'm excited for that, nice not to workout in the cold back room in front of the TV :-))
I am SO hungry, almost lunchtime, going home to warm up leftover chillie!! (made with ground turkey).
Hope you are all having a great day.
and R2Lose, I agree, you and your haircut look fabulous!!0 -
awesome job phly! I'm starting couch to 5k Monday! I'm excited!0

Do you know which version you downloaded? I haven't found one I liked yet. Someone said you could create your own playlist. I haven't seen that one.0 -
WOW! Busy bunch today!
Christy - I know all too well about covering the Tomatoes and hanging lights. I'm in Florida and we had 3 seperate full-on hard freezes. It was CRAZY! The first one caught us off guard and I had to run to Goodwill to get blankets. The second one DH covered with his heavy painting tarps and strung lights everywhere. By the time the third one rolled around this special "freeze proof" fabric we ordered had arrived. SO much easier!! We lost a few Mater plants (most of our Chile's and Peppers) but were able to get over 50#'s of Maters in the past few weeks. Got lots of Salsa canned. They are about done now, maybe 10-12 Maters left and the plants will be ripped out and new plants planted in a new bed. 4:30AM?!? Are you kidding me? :noway: Excellent job on the loss and getting in to those jeans!! I hope the meds don't set you back. Those two are infamous for weight gain. Make sure to get plenty of water to keep your system flushed and hopefully this rash will go away quickly!
Arf - Take care of that hip!
Reiki - Sorry to hear about the cranky kids! Hope you enjoyed your workout and enjoy your dinner tonight!
R2L - LOVE the new haircut! You are going to love the "wash and go" cut. Mine is the same. I walk in the door and my stylists says "Wait, let me go to the back and get the Weed Whacker."! I literally have her chop all over my head. I get out of the shower, towel dry, scrunch in a little gel and THAT'S IT!! And another OCD'er!! Too bad we can't be as strict with our health as we are with keeping the Ketchup on the right side of the fridge!
Phly - I LOVE your new profile pic! You look very happy and perky in this one! More snow?!? YOOO-HOOOO!! Lilac and Plume!! Get your snow shovels!! We need to help Phly dig out her car!! Now that you're on a roll it's time to rock it out! Excellent job on the C25K and hope your new game comes today!
I did something AWFUL this morning. I can't even believe I did it! :ohwell: I made my post and run earlier, let the dogs out for a bit, gathered up my stuff and ran out the door. I got all the way through the produce market, back in to my car and heading on to my next stop when I realized I hadn't eaten breakfast!! Made it through stop number two, stop number three which was the big box store and finally on to the grocery store. It was almost lunch time and my stomach was *growling*. I headed to the deli to pick up a pre-made sandwich but didn't like the choices (or prices :grumble: ) and thought I'd just run the fast food joint that's out in the parking lot. I *really* didn't want to do that when it dawned on me...Lean Cuisine!! By the time I finished my shopping and headed to the frozen section I was STARVING!! I bought TWO, Pizza and Mac and Cheese and promptly came home and ate BOTH of them!!:noway: Now I'm stuffed! But I got dinner in my calculator and can still make it. I can even pad it a bit if I get in some exercise but I don't usually exercise on Friday because it's a busy day. UGH!
Got to get back in the kitchen and get the rest of the stuff (date stamped ) and put away. Maybe I can squeeze in a mile or two before DH gets home.
Catch you all later!0 -

Thanks VT, I love my hair. I am more the wash and go type. I loved my long hair but I wanted something different and I feel like I look better with shorter hair. My hair is so thick and heavy that when it's long it just drags it down and flattens it out on the top. Oh , I am totally OCD on lots of things. I agree I wish I was as strict about my health. I am working on that one.0 -

Wow! a fellow-gardener. I am just starting out and waiting for Spring to see if my second season will be a little more productive than my first, but I love it and I love the idea of growing my own veggies... kind of a complete the circle thing (besides saving time and money)
And yes, I get up early... in the summertime I've been known to have a 3am wake up ... you know married to an Arizona construction worker!!
And thanks for the water reminder and the encouragement!!0 -
Wow! Christy! We have so much in common! Well, except for getting up at 4:30 am that is! DH is also in the construction industry. I was too up until last summer. Still in very close contact with "The Boys" and do the occassional typing work for them but things are, for the most part, at a standstill here. DH is still working but his jobs are smaller and that means less income. We are also getting ready for our "second season". We built our raised beds last Spring, got them all irrigated and planted a Cover Crop in each bed during the Summer months to enrich the soil and did our very first plant last Fall. We had some successes and some epic failures. Mostly due to bugs but now we know what to expect and are armed with some Organic ways to battle them. We are focusing, for the most part, on Heirloom varieties so we can save our own seeds and replant each year. You can't do that with most Hybrids, at least not with any certainty due to the fact they've been altered so much, and expect them to re-produce. And, besides, Heirlooms just taste better. Having said that, I went out today and bought a Butt-Load of Non-Heirloom seeds. I'm kind of freaked out with the way *things* are going, locally and abroad, and wanted to make sure we had enough seeds on hand to hold us over for a while in case things go south in a big way and our Heirlooms don't produce. It's a hit and miss kind of thing with Heirlooms and determining what will grow in our area and we are still experimenting. So, we may not be able to pay the power bill but at least we'll be able to eat! Last weekend DH and I sat down and made our new garden layout. He's going to build two new Potato Bins (one for White and one for Red Taters), re-route some irrigation and by the time that's done we'll be ready to plant our Spring crop. I can't wait!! When and what are you going to plant? We can compare notes and growing tips! I'll PM you my list so we don't hijack the board!
R2L - Embrace your OCD!! I've had it my whole life. I live with it comfortably. It's everybody around me that struggles with it!!
Have a good night HEETers. See you tomorrow! :flowerforyou:0 -

Oh yeah VT I embrace my OCD, it's my hubby that has a problem with it. I drive him nuts but he loves me anyways.0 -
VT, excited to share gardening ideas!
I had a great dinner and evening.
Have a great nite all!
Will check in tomorrow!0 -
LOL VT...it's so funny cuz that is EXACTLY what I always say! I live with a family of pigs so I drive them NUTS! My boys are both ADHD so their chaos is just a nightmare for me..and my ocd is a nightmare for them! Atleast its fair! LOL
Pretty sore today. Decided NOT to do the bootcamp class this morning because the gym is pretty small and she's packing 3 classes into just one today, so instead I'm hitting the park and gonna start the C25k today! My sons are cross country runners so my little guy has decided he's going to be my coach! He's super excited! I have a feeling torture is coming! LOL
Trying really hard to not get frustrated with the scale today. I have gained 9 pounds of muscle this week and still holding on to about 10 pounds of water that I'm waiting anxiously to rid itself. And, I'm still up 11 pounds from last week. I know muscle weighs more than fat blah blah blah, but I want to WEIGH LESS! LOL Once hubby is awake I will do my measurements and maybe there is progress there. Surely working out 6 days a week instead of 3 will help with the weight loss. I'm still working hard to control my sodium but I think today I am going to reduce my calories a little.
everyone have an awesome day!0 -
Off to a rough start this morning. I am up almost 2 pounds over yesterday. GRRRR!!!! I know this is a normal fluctuation, but I can't help but be frustrated.
On the upside, all of the kids woke up happy this morning! We are up for a busy day. My oldest son has two Taekwondo classes this morning, followed by a hail and farewell party this afternoon. Both should be fun. I just wish the woman who is hosting the party wasn't such an amazing chef0 -
Good Morning HEETers!
Phly - I meant to answer this last night but go so sidetracked with my garden post to Christy that I forgot. I also have the Polar F-6 (recommended by R2L and several others.) Like she said, it has a chest strap and a wrist "watch" so you can watch your progress. It has an alarm that lets you know when you are overdoing it or underdoing it and will track durn near everything. It's also waterproof so you can swim with it and very easy to set up and use. I ordered mine from heartratemonitor.com. I think it was $106.00. I called the phone number, left a message, the owner called me back (Super friendly guy) and he ships the next day, express mail so you get it quickly.
Which reminds me...R2L - are you resetting yours each week with your weight loss? I do each week just to make sure I'm getting the right workout. Wanted to remind you just in case.
I'm up and showered but can't shake off the *groggies*. It's a dreary, dismal morning and, like several of us, I peeked at the scale and it's continuing to go UP!!! That didn't sit right with me this morning.:grumble: Let me see if I can get a jump start with some caffeine or something. Once I clear my head I'll come back and catch up.
