Hi all. welcome home Kelly and if I could I would send an RN to assist you.

I know this is petty but... I'm venting here.... I purchased 2 pks (12 cans) of diet soda for me. I usually have 1 a day typically w/lunch. Roomie asked me if she could have one. I said, sure. Well, I guess she thought I meant one (or more) a day. Everytime I open the fridge there's an open can of soda. Or I see her with a can of soda or I see her put one of my sodas in her side of the fridge.. Ladies, she doesn't have any soda in the house. Even when I make iced tea from the powder, she drinks it. Brewed bag no... just the powder. And I stopped opening wine cuz she would drink it...last bottle she left me less than 1oz. That's wrong... She complained to me having no money then went out to purchase beer, cigs and lottery tix. Plus went out to party that night.

Today, I asked her if she wanted me to pick her up some soda the next time I go to the store. I got a meek sounding yeah, diet is fine answer. Then I moved all my soda & water bottles off the laundry room shelf into a closed cabinet. Decided I will place a paper grocery bag marked "LAZ" in the fridge. (LAZ is my new man's nickname, short for Lazaro). Inside LAZ's bag will be any can/bottle beverage I want to keep cold. I seriously doubt she'll go into his bag. And I'll make Laz the powered ice tea the day he visits. She doesn't touch his Monster drinks.

stayed the same - no loss/no gain

    172
    30.1 BMI

Had to take my charger back to dealer for the ESP BAS indicator light coming on again.....
Was given a 2011 Jeep Wrangler as a loaner. Well, my plum charger did spoil me.

Sure, the jeep can unzip to be topless...but it doesn't have all the bells/whistles my charger does. Plus the engine has no get up and go.... has a 3.8ltr engine. Charger has 5.7ltr. I told the dealer I would take the 2011 Challenger RT w/Hemi as a loaner since it has the same engine specs as my charger. Nope, dealer wouldn't do.

hey folks....just had me some goulash, eh, ok. for some reason I feel like I have a ton of cravings. laffy taffy banana, chocolate, and ice cream. sounds like a sugar fix. had 2 'mom' visits today. pretty tired now. pain isn't all that bad. took a Tramadol at bedtime and 2 Ibuprophen twice today. would rather stay away from the heavy drugs. surgery sites are sore. still having some dizziness and pains from the anesthesia. walking around seems to help that the best. and seems to be a lot of gunk in my throat/lungs, and kinda hard to cough with abs. laying on the couch now...watching tv. might snooze.

Barb...I would be a little po at roomie too. but sounds like you fixed it. if she taps into Laz's bag, then I'd be sure to say something. heck, you are providing a roof over her head. food and drink? NOPE

whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa... my love, my love does it to me... whoa, whoa, whoa.....

I thought we all needed a bit of Paul McCartney & Wings "My Love." It was the song playing as I read Kelly's post.
    Anywho......

I have cravings as well for sugar type items... why my lunch wasn't the bonelss bbq chicken & sliced cucumbers. Instead had Whoppers malt milk balls & a coolatta from Dunkin Donuts. Later my stomach was like ugh... wtf did you do to me....

    So ladies... there you go...

mornin'...not feeling too well today. thought my upset tummy was from hunger...so I ate a banana and some toast. nope, been dizzy and lightheaded since I been up. forgot to weigh in so will do that tomorrow. and I hate the smell of anesthesia leaving the body....whether it's my breath, urine, gas. so gross it's nauseating. just like last time i need to realize there will be good days and bad days during recovery. something good tho, my shoulder pain (what I thought was scar tissue) is now pain free, and the knots are gone too. ? weird. guess the pain is in a different area of my body now... have a good one, will try to check in later.

looking forward to hearing from the whole gang again. don't recall it ever being this quiet in the past.:ohwell:

I am 232.6 pounds this week. Down a pound. Sorry guys. I have been lazy this week with exercise and posting. It is hot in our apartment even with the air on. I don't think we have to much control over our heat/air. Our heat and electric is included in our rent so even though we have a thermostat in our apartment I don't think if we set it below or above their range it registers. I have it set at 64 and it is 77-78 in our apartment. Zan is working on his molars and is crabby. He is not sleeping or eating well. I am going to bed since Zan has finally fell asleep. Good night ladies. I will check in tomorrow.

    Good Morning,
Sorry I mussed so much and put on weight. Today is my thrid day without pain medicine and finally being able to concentrate. So I weight in at 252 this mornig.so that a 4 pound gain, not to bad for being completely down for 2 weeks. It will be another 2 weeks before I can get mobile and do exercising. Still not able to drive. So sitting here is all I really do,I am going to try and starting eating good now since I am not relying on kids and family to feed me. Cooked my first meal last night without any pain. So here to better eating. Once I can move again WATCH OUT!!!
Kelly sorry to hear you had to have surgery. The anesthsia was awful for me this time too. Made me sick for days. Hope you get better soon.
So here to eating better and logging in
    Thanks everyone for the texts
Well mom here to domy dressing change, will write more later:heart:

hi everyone...Scott and Tanner are working today and Tyler arrived home last nite...didn't get to visit with him as I was already in bed. It stormed all nite, but we really needed the rain. lost power for 2 hrs this am. took a shower and blow dried my hair. now I'm very dizzy. waiting for the 'regularity' to return. trying to increase fiber and water....can't really walk yet. 187.2 this am so that is down .4 I am still really bloated and feel 10 lbs heavier than what the scale says. my mom stopped by late yesterday afternoon and made some food for us. ( stuff I never make ) chop chop salad; has carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in it w/ranch dressing, pistachio jello/watergate salad, and some watermelon and muskmelon. did have some of everything. I am still hungry for sugar. and craving McDonald's french fries.

Jacque!!!! so great seeing you post! missed ya tons! don't worry bout the gain. not much we can do when health stops us. we'll get there!! I will keep praying for a good recovery for you. take care!!

Angie ~ congrats on the loss! every lb counts! this heat is affecting us all. where my dh works they have no AC. it is a factory that makes corrugation ( cardboard boxes ). a few days ago it was 134 -136* in the plant. unbelievable! he has a hard time cooling down at nite and doesn't sleep very well. sometimes too hot to eat supper.

have a good weekend ladies!! stay cool! love ya team!

feeling a little better... dh says I have more color in my face today. did a little laundry, some dishes and made brunch. it's 1:30 and I think I'm done for the day. was looking ahead to my August calendar and on the 3rd I am to see my cardiologist for yearly checkup. need to find out if a treadmill test is planned, cuz that ain't gonna happen. sister might be in town tomorrow so hoping we can visit. our school starts in 24 days!! unbelievable! I'm sooo ready! Tyler has left and gone back to his 'house'. he has an interview today and tomorrow...Buffalo Wild Wings and Famous Dave's. back in the food industry again.

anyone interested in doing a challenge or setting goals?? just an idea, not to scare anyone, but Christmas is 5 mos from tomorrow...about 23 wks away. I know I'd sure like to be down 23 lbs...that'd be a pound a week. I can't really set any exercise goals for a while, but I am gonna try to focus on eating healthier.

    hope you're all having a good day..take care!

It rained really hard here -- thunder - lightening - heavy winds & I lost power for 2 hours.

It was a very quiet weekend for me. Didn't do much...haven't left my house. It's ok... I am enjoying the silence w/o the roommate around.

Did rearrange furniture in the living room, move wall hangings around....watched movies.... read my book... napped... enjoyed the quiet.
And developed a rash in right upper thigh... unsure if heat or allegeric reaction.

Kelly- I am glad your are feeling a little better. I will keep praying for you. I am up for a challenge or setting goals. I need to get motivated to eat better and a challenge maybe the answer.

Jacque- glad to see you back. Yeah for you cooking without hurting. I will continue to pray for your recovery also.

Barb- I didn't leave my house either this weekend. It is too hot here. Hopefully the rash goes away soon.

Ody comes home on Sunday!! I am so excited. I have miss him so much. My life will be back to normal soon. This is Zan's last week of swim lessons. I am going to enroll him in more this in the fall. I am going to try to get Zan down for a morning nap. He is so crabby without one. I will check inn later. Have a great day! :)

lots of funky things happenin' on MFP today, for me anyway. won't add my "comments", when I go to the message boards I get kicked off, I even went to my own Food tab and it told me it was private and I needed a password?

Do you ladies want to set your own 'personal' goals and challenges or do a team challenge? I think if we post them or add to our sig then we all can see what each other is working on or trying to change....and support each other that way? input anyone? my efforts are going to be more towards eating better, drinking more water, and getting more sleep. eventually I want to get active and maintain some kind of routine. I will list my plan at the end of this.

awoke tired this am, so not sure if yesterday I over did it or just a day to day thing. thinkin' I had 8 hrs of sleep. I dunno. really want to go get some groceries, but not sure if I'm ready to drive. dh basically refuses to shop...so, can I refuse to cook? outta fruit and veggies, among many other items. hmmmm...have a good Monday folks!:flowerforyou:

Barb ~ I'm glad you enjoyed the quiet...sounds very peaceful!
Angie ~ I sense your excitement with Ody's return! how's Zan doing cutting molars? poor little guy...I remember those times. hard on mom too!

    goals ~

    7-8 hrs sleep

    CW 187.2
    Goals

Hi all. I can do a challenge.

Roomie went on a rampage this morning.... a lot of foul language & anger directed at her unemployment benefits letter. I couldn't handle it... told the roomie that her anger causes my blood pressure to raise and my depression to kick up... it's affecting my health and needs to stop.

Told her the language & anger needs to stop or she'll be looking for alternate housing. Believe me it took big balls for me to say that. Especially knowing she's down on her luck. However don't complain you have no money then buy cigs, beer & lottery tickets then go out for the night. So yes, I feel bad your life isn't all together but it's your choices that is making your life in the dumps. She said she doesn't want to ruin a friendship thus will adjust her ways. We'll see....

Made a doctor's appt for this afternoon regarding this rash --- not spreading to stomach & legs. Since I now have diabeties, I don't want to just take any OTC w/o knowing what I can and can not take.

barb..I am proud of YOU!! it would be tough for me to lay the law down on roomie too. I would get all blotchy in the face/neck, have to try and "talk" while hoping voice not to tremble, gasp and avoid raising my voice. very tough. girl, you did your challenge right there! kudos! hope she makes some positive changes and it works out. get that rash taken care of! glad you're going to the dr. let us know what you find out!

hey jacque...I been feeling the aches too. I know just sitting around affects me. feeling stiff. blech, the antibiotic after taste. there's one that has a metallic taste. ugh. feel for ya. will do a rain dance (well, maybe clapping, tapping or snapping) for Texas and send prayers. it is really desperate there...i see it on the news. hard to watch.

    challenge....water? I'm aiming for at least 8!

ok, been on the couch and doggies need to go out. if i'm gonna go to town i need to go soon.

I should also state ex got released from the hospital on Friday. He was supposed to come on Saturday to get the rest of his crap in the shed... no..... not at all.

Sunday, my roomie sees his army blazer drive away. So, just the blazer is gone. Let me state me and two of my friends packed the blazer tight with his crap. Unsure when (if) he's coming for the rest. Tomorrow is court and I'm not telling him he has to show.... that's not my job.

Roomie mentioned via text message she's going to start looking for other places to live. (Yeah right) and she wants to live with her BF (based on what she tells me about him -- he's another lost cause). Tell ya'll what for the amount she's paying me, it's not worth the crap she's doing.

Ate well today. I went to the store on Friday & loaded up on fruits.... now someone has to eat them all.

Barb- Good for you at standing your ground! I am very proud of you. I know it is not easy but you have to do it. If she wants to stay with her bf and he isn't a good cause then it is her decision. Enjoy eating your fruit. :)

Kelly- I like the water challenge idea. I usually do pretty well with water but with it being so hot extra won't hurt for me to drink extra. I am going to aim for 10 glasses, which for me will be 4 water bottles full. I will have to keep track of how much my son drinks from my bottle. He loves drinking water from my water bottle but unfortunately he doesn't know how to close the spout so he spills it sometimes. :)

Jacque- good to see you back. Just work on what you can until the doctors tell you that it is ok to start exercising again. For me eating right is the hardest part. I know if I can get my eating in control then my weight will come off faster. Can you drink tea or some thing like crystal light that flavors the water without too many calories?

Zan is still working on his molars. He still isn't eating or sleeping well. I think tonight I am going to give him Tylenol before bed. I hope everyone has a good night I will check in tomorrow. :)

At the dr appt yesterday -- took blood sample to test me for varicella & lyme disease... (that's chicken pox and lyme disease) Was prescribed an topical and oral medication... referred to dermalogist. Sigh.

Learned my BF has not had chicken pox as a child (I did in 3rd grade) so he asked we don't see each other until my blood test results are in. Ugh... However, I respect his request....

Trying to be calm. Court at 1:30pm today. Take care.

didn't make the trip to get groceries. was getting ready and when I was brushing my teeth, I felt a little dizzy. decided I can't do this. so, I called Scott at work and asked if he and Tanner could stop after work... I emailed him the list and he picked up everything I had down and nothing more! for sure we could save if HE did all the shopping! still feeling really bloated, occ'l have some bleeding & cramping, and my balance is off. day to day here.

my sis and her kiddos stopped in for a visit. she brought me a bouquet of fresh flowers from her garden, a zucchini and eggs! love homegrown produce!

parents going gamblin' today so I get to dog-sit Izzi.

this weekend is our town's celebration..Walker Pickle Days. Hope to be well enough to see the parade, have supper at my folks, and see fireworks...which we watch from our backyard.

Monday goal update~ almost 8 water, eating has improved but I did have a couple oatmeal-raisin cookies & some BBQ potato chips. for supper I had a huge salad...romaine & iceberg, carrots, cuke, onion, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, boiled egg, croutons & ranch dressing. filled a large dinner plate and, believe it or not, it was missing something...pepper! sleep was almost 8 hrs. so a pretty good day.

how bout the rest of you's?

Barb ~ hope the meds help with your rash and it goes away! hoping for a good court day...it's time you deserve one! finger's crossed X ! :flowerforyou:

Angie ~ hope Zan is feeling better with his toofies. let's drink the day away! :drinker:

Jacque ~ thinkin of you

Vita & Cindy....miss ya gals! let us know how ur doin when you get a minute

hi all.. will say I am eating a lot of fruit this week. More water..

So far the meds seem to be controlling the itch... however I noticed more spreading of the rash. Ugh....

Court was a success for me. Last week I got the "ok" to email my children via their father's email address. He was to read email then give to the kids. Nope, he didn't. Why he thought I should have discussed my feelings, my apology for being with Dave, etc etc. In the court room, 4 attorneys (including his) stated the email I sent was fine. Judge told him give to kids. I felt victorious and I also felt my ex was just being an *kitten*. What comes around goes around.

So, now I'm waiting for a reply to my email from my kids.

And my other victory was Dave will have a court order stating NO CONTACT with me. When he wants his stuff in the shed, he must contact my attorney. He's not allowed on my property either. Now, he has until 24 Aug to get his stuff due to hospital discharge.
He wasnt' at court and believe me that didn't look good for him.

Off to pay bills... talk soon.

almost 12 water's today. food was similar to yesterday, including the bbq chips and oatmeal-raisin cookies. didn't have a salad for supper but had some fresh sweet corn, baked potato and grilled steak. starting to crave my black beans, lentils....soups and wraps. almost felt like a nap today, but it didn't happen. hope to get to bed at a decent time.

    Barb ~ VICTORY!!

feeling more itchy spots appearing on the back of my thighs... great.....

made applesauce (again) and brought the crockpot into work.

doing better w/fruits and not eating junk today.

Due to my unknown rash, I'm not doing kickboxing this week. My fear is if it's shingles, I could pass the chicken pox virus to those who had not had chicken pox. And in the kickboxing class, some of my affected body parts would be exposed. Yes, kickboxing class is no contact w/another person - but I don't want to put others health at risk. Especially when I see a lot of kids there doing karate lessons. I'm still at work because my uniform covers me except for hands and face/neck, I have no positive result (yet) and no out of work note.
I contacted the karate studio to tell them why they won't see me this week.

happy hump day. watched 2 movies..Few Good Men & Angel Eyes. I feel so lazy. as I walked in my yard yesterday, I noticed my largest flower bed is full of weeds again. it took about 6 or so hours to clean up last time, and that was when I was feeling good. with the recent rains, they would pull pretty easy....but this is something that is just gonna have to wait.

Barb...any word on the blood test results? hope it's not an allergy to the applesauce. shingles would suk...my dad and MIL have had them...very uncomfortable and painful.

prayers that everyone gets to feeling better soon and back to good health! :flowerforyou:

Here I am... no, dont' call me itchy, scratchy or spot.

Weight is 171 BMI is 29.9 slight decrease in both.

I come home from work tired that I just drop into my bed. Wake up later for something to eat then drop back into my bed. Could be the medication my primary prescribed for the rash -- could be the rash -- could be both. Yawn, it's nearly 9am and I am ready for my bed again. Nice blankie... nice pillow....

Kelly is today any better for you? I can solve your weeding problem -- astro turf and rock. Yup, that will do it...

    Jacque how you feeling?

    Sindy/Miss V - hope you're well.

    hi friends....another day loafin' here...

rec'd a wedding invite to a h.s classmates dd wedding. this classmate is a distant friend, and unsure why my family was invited. she has lived in MO all her life, has 4 dd, 2 of which are the same age as Ty n Tan, and it is the 19 yr old that is getting married. I have never met her kiddos. we have exchanged h.s. graduation invites/$ with our 2 oldest and that's it. the wedding is Sept 10 in MO. Could be a nice getaway, but costly and like I said, don't know the friend that well. bizarre.

doing so-so with daily goals. water was 12+ yesterday, food intake has been similar...did have a big salad for supper and the regular type salad dressings. need to get back to making my own with EVOO/vinegar/garlic. sleeping has been near 8 hrs so that is good.

Barb ~ a little concerned for you...meds makin you groggy? be careful...do you think you should be at home while you get well? take care girl! good job at the scale! congrats!

Hi everyone else! hope all is well. Missin ya. stop in for a sec when ya can!

gotta go...very dark and I can hear thunder!

Hi ladies! Sorry I have been busy lately and Zan doesn't let me on the computer when he is awake. Zan is still not taking very good naps. He is struggling adjusting to 1 main nap a day. He cat naps in the morning for like 15 - 20 minutes and the sleeps for 1.5 - 2 hours in the afternoon. He sleeps ok at night but I don't think he is getting enough sleep. I have decided I need to continue getting up at 4:30 in the morning to exercise because I am more productive during the day so I have been resting with Zan in the afternoon.

Barb- is drowsiness a side effect of your medicine? I am glad you have your charger back! :)

Kelly- Yeah for the water. I did good on Monday, Wednesday & today but not so well on Tuesday. I am really need to start focusing on what I am eating. I am not eating enough veggies.

I have a feeling I am going to be disappointed in my weight tomorrow morning even though I have been doing great with exercise. If my weight is not what I hope for it will because either I am over estimating my calories burned or under estimating my food intake. I bet if I start measuring and logging food I could see where I am going wrong. It is hard for me to find time to log my food with a 1 year old around. I better get myself to bed. 4:30 is going to come fast. Good night ladies. :)

so I am guilty of weighing almost every day..and not sure what to think now. last Sat I was 187.2, Sun 186.2, Mon 185, Tues 183.2, Wed 182.4, yesterday 182 and today 182.2. that's 5 lbs. I did not expect this. now I know it is common for me to lose up to 10lbs (always water) in a week, and that is when I am trying really hard. I have not been trying hard. I cannot exercise and I have not eaten my best (clean), nor have I been counting calories. The only good thing the past few days is my water intake. I still feel bloated from the surgery and I am feeling more flabby. I wish I would have been counting calories now b/c if this is related to an increase (which I know I have) I would like to know that #. I have wondered over the last year or so, that I am not eating enough, and not always my exercise calories. I know weeks and months of this will put your body into starvation mode. Is this why I have been in the 80's and 90's for a year or so?? I kinda have an idea of a good-clean day calorie count, but I am sure I have been near the 1600-1900 range, maybe even 2000. and another thing, not counting = not stressing! stress and weight gain...that cortisol theory?? and sleep...has been mostly good, cept last nite only 6, bad nite. Don't know if any of you have done the basal metabolic rate formula, or even visited numerous web sites to figure that, and I'm telling ya, I think MFP has ours too low sometimes. check it out and see for yourself. I'd like to know what others think. So, does this mean when I start exercising again that I am gonna gain weight? Oh, and I have almost eliminated dairy from my diet since surgery, it's recommended for constipation. Yes, I miss my yogurt, cheese and almond milk/latte....

looks like the guys have the weekend off. Tyler was hired at Buffalo Wild Wings...glad for that. He should be home tomorrow.

yesterday I had 12+ water, bad was the chips and sweet corn....once-year-fresh...not gonna pass that up!

This is one example... the Harris-Benedict Formula for Basal Metabolic Rate

    For women: BMR = 655 + 9.56(weight in lbs) + 1.85(height in inches) - 4.68(age in yrs)

so for me it would look like this.....
    655 + (9.56 x 182.2lbs) + (1.85 x 64 inches) - (4.68 x 45 yrs)
    655 + 1741.832 + 118.4 - 210.6 = 2304.632
so, about 2,304 calories a day is what I should be eating. and that is with no exercise. If I want to lose wt, I should subtract 500 calories ( to lose 1 lb a week ) so that gives me approx 1800 calories a day. IF I exercise, I would get to eat more than the 1800.

    Harris Benedict Formula

To determine your total daily calorie needs if you exercise, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
    If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
    If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
    If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9
