Our techs can tell us sex but nothing medical.

Yes, they will tell us sex too, but they just won't put it in writing in the report that goes to your dr. We told the tech we did not want to know, but apparently the positioning was no good anyways.

pleasantly surprised to learn that my Y wrongly uses the word "laps" when saying how many laps are in a mile. They say 72 laps in a mile, but the correct term is 72 lengths in a mile. I've been swimming 72 laps (down and back) and counting it as a mile. All this time I've been swimming 2+ miles! (I thought I was just super slow!)

I also had a question for you ladies who know what the sex of your baby is...Did the Chinese gender chart predict correctly and did the old wives tale of no morning sickness equal a boy and lots of morning sickness equal a girl??

I used a Chinese gender chart that someone (I think dragonfly) posted on here and it said I was having a boy, and I've only had mild queasiness, not really morning sickness. Someone also did the "ring on a string" test and it said boy.

So I guess they were all right for me. Either way, any of them are gonna be right half the time

Has anyone used a belly band with a previous pregnancy? I think that's what they're called. I'm talking about the post-pardum one that you wear to help with posture, muscle control, and getting your stomach to shrink down and have good shape.

Someone gave me a size Medium one (cruel right? ) that I might be able to wear a few months after baby, but I'm thinking about getting one for right after I have him. Any suggestions on whether they're worth it/brand?

I have found with that brand that if you are typically say a Large then get the Medium. I got the L/XL and I should have gotten the M/L because it's way too big for me (I'm using the one that lets me wear my prepreggo pants HOPEFULLY for the entire pregnancy.

I don't know. I know "they" say that it helps put things back after pregnancy, but I have to think that it might hinder? Wouldn't you think that actually just holding in your stomach and focusing on your posture would do more training and toning of your muscles than elastic holding them in and not requiring them to contract to hold in?

It's hard to say, but I know when I've wore any sort of "fat sucker inner" (think spanx) in the past, it sure felt like I had been using my own muscles to hold everything in once I took it off

Yesterday I was trying to think of something, anything, to be thankful for about being hugely pregnate through the hottest part of summer. As I was with my DS and will be with this one. (Guess we're gonna have to start planning better.:blushing: ) Here's what I came up with - you don't have to get your daily exercise trying to put shoes and socks on. Aren't sandels great!!! And you don't have to try and find a coat that fits over your tummy and if you can't find one then your tummy would get cold... Ummmm..... that's all I managed to come up with. Not sure there is anything else.

    I have some pros --
I can wear flowy comfy elastic-waisted skirts. Can't do that in winter!

I'm also glad my bump won't be covered in layers of clothing making me just look dumpy & fat(ter).

Also, apparently one of my pregnancy side-effects is way too much perspiration. Tons of sweat is lot more acceptable around here from April - July than during the winter.

And, I'm SERIOUSLY considering pushing that we spend a week or 2 of my maternity leave (in September or early October, when it's less crowded & baby is older) at my FIL's beach house in Hilton Head. Of course, I'd want to do that any time, but especially when the weather is warm enough to get in the water but not insanely hot like July/August. I really hope we can pull it off (FIL's family lives near DC so it'd hopefully just be me, hubby, Maisie, & the dogs.). I mean, how stinking cute are tiny baby at the beach pictures?

Brittony glad your checkup went well. I think you look super cute and wouldn't worry about being a little over 35lbs. :)

I also had a question for you ladies who know what the sex of your baby is...Did the Chinese gender chart predict correctly and did the old wives tale of no morning sickness equal a boy and lots of morning sickness equal a girl??

For both of these things it says I'm having a boy...My husband is a pilot and most of the time pilots have girls (the vibration kills off the boy sperm) but he just got back from training where they fly in a simulator (a computer game) and then the weather had been so bad he may have flown a couple times the weeks previous to me getting pregnant. Also, taking Clomid increases your chances of a girl because it changes the pH of things and makes for a "hostile environment" killing off the boy sperm as well...Well we used Preseed so I think that the whole Clomid-girl thing doesn't count.

My husband told me last night that they want him to stay for 5 more weeks following the end of this course as opposed to going back to Arizona for 5 weeks in July/Aug...I guess it would be better for him just to get it over with, but I already miss him like crazy...He is just lucky I'm an independent, strong woman who can survive on my own. Doesn't make missing him any easier, but most women I know couldn't/wouldn't choose this life. Good thing I love the old lug!

This chart has been right for me with all FOUR of my children. Not all "chinese charts" are the same. One site has a chart and then you look at another one and it is completely different. So it really depends on which one you look at. But again the one below was right for each and every one. I believe they are fun to look at but not in anyway much different than taking a guess. Some were off and some were on for my pregnancies but again, this one I posted here was right for them ALL.

As far as morning sickness I never had it with any of my pregnancies. I have two girls and a son and I am currently pregnant with another boy. So two and two and never had MS.

Well I'm hoping to get out of here (work) in the next ten minutes. After that I'm heading home, packing, and going to my in-laws' lake house for the weekend. They're always lots of fun, so I'm sure it will be a good time. They made us two shelves for the nursery. One has three pegs under it for hanging odds and ends. The other has a dowel rod under it to hang a blanket. I'm already planning on putting the quilt my MIL makes on it. Back to the point, though  I will probably be MIA for the next couple of days. My FIL is really weird about turning off his wireless internet when he isn't using it for his protection, even though he's got that thing all passworded and coded out the wazoo. I might even lose my high MFP count this weekend. Meh.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I hope to come back and hear that Brooklynn arrived!

    Happy April everyone

Had a busy busy day today, I'm really struggling to eat all my maintenance calories at the moment. I don't seem to have much appetite at the moment, not quite nausea but just don't feel hungry and don't fancy eating anything. I've lost 2.7lb since monday also. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should just force myself to eat when I don't want to just to get those 2200 cals in or just to eat when I'm hungry????

I'm off to see the midwife on Monday so I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to ask her on my options for a home birth, hopefully I will be eligible if I can control my blood sugars and don't get the dreaded GD (gestational diabetes).

Got a lot of chores to do around the house this weekend so nothing special planned but its quite cold and raining on and off here so can't get much outdoor time anyways, I'm glad its not sunny outside while I'm doing chores.

Good luck to those ladies at the end of their pregnancies, it looks like we are going to have some new babies very soon, can't wait to coo over the pics

I was hoping to be able to fool my friends and say "I'm pregnant" and when they didn't believe me i could say, "no really!"

today is day 28 and AF is no where to be seen. She usually arrives in the wee hours of the morning and makes a lovely mess on my sheets, but nothing. took a HPT and it showed BFN. :ohwell:

I rechecked about a dozen Chinese gender charts including the one dragonfly posted and they are all wrong for me. I remembered something similar online being right & just found it again. It's not the Chinese gender chart:
    http://www.babygendertool.com/baby-gender-test.aspx

It's also correct for me and my brother.

So did any of you have a "gut feeling" about the gendar and it was right? With my DS I just knew. Everyone said I was having a girl but I was pretty sure he was a he! And now this baby is giving me a girl vibe. Anyone have that and was right?

I didnt really have the gut feeling but my bf did. From day 1 he was saying it was a girl. And surprise he was right! The chinese gender chart was right for me at least! (but none of the other wives tales)

Milk & nut butters are packed full of nutrition & calories. Think about it -- a few tbs of peanut butter and a 16oz glass of 2% milk has about 600 calories! My other favorite high calorie & good nutrition foods are avocado & olive oil. :flowerforyou: I don't think you should *force* yourself to eat, but instead you take in larger amounts of nutritious higher calorie foods instead of trying to stuff in 2200 calories worth of grilled chicken breast & steamed veggies or similar nutritious/low cal foods.

Hello everyone! I'm Kacy, I'm 24 and I'm from the great state of Tennessee...I just got my BFP on Tuesday morning. I was DEFINITELY not expecting that. I'll be due in early December.

Still haven't told the boyfriend. I know, I know...but I felt like I needed some time to adjust to the idea before I tell him and he freaks out while I'm still freaking out. And, he's been wanting to go to Wrestlemania since he was a little boy, and he's finally getting to go on Sunday. I want him to have a really great time before I rock his world. So Monday is the day I break the news. We've been together for 3 and a half years, and he already has a little girl, but this was very, very not planned! It'll all work out though, and once the shock wears off and we hear that little heart beating, he'll be excited.

Anyway, this will be my first, so I'm just looking for a place for companionship and advice. It's so nice to "meet" you all!

OH, and those of you who use babygaga.com for your ticker...which version do you copy and paste for it to work on here? HTML?

I have almost always known baby's gender by 20 weeks, instinct. I had one I had no gut feeling. So w/ the ones I have had a feeling, I was right 9 out of 10. I don't know about the chinese thing, I have only looked at it a few times that I recall.

Well I guess it is official...looks like I'm having a boy! lol! EVERYTHING (chinese gender chart, this predictor, old wives tales) all point to a boy... Well obviously it won't be official until it is official but everything is pointing to boy....

Random posting for anyone who knows someone in the Phoenix area with a little girl (or possibly a boy! )

Via work we have Disney Princesses on Ice tickets (US Airways Center, Thurs. April 7th). If anyone wants some, message me, though know they might have to be able to pick them up in Scottsdale some time next week before the show.
