Well I've had a pretty good weekend overall. Got in all my exercise, didn't stray too much on the food front, and I've even managed to keep up on the water!
On the exercise front I've decided today I'm going to sign up for a 10k run on Memorial Day (the Bolder Boulder for anyone around here). I've never done a race before, but I do normally run for exercise. The race seems so daunting for some reason! There's something about that set start and finish that makes the distance seem impossible. Well, at any rate if anyone has any first time race tips please share! I guess I should start some type of trainig although I honestly don't really know where to start except go out and run-so I guess that's what I'll be doing for the next 4 weeks!
First races are exciting! Congrats, its will be so much fun! My favorite thing to do when I tried my first 5k and my first sprint triathlon was to focus on something small and be proud just for entering and finishing. If its running, I usually try to set a goal of maintaining a pace that allows me to finish without walking any of it. With the triathlons I actually set an overall time goal. It just gave me something to push myself further during the race when motivation wanes.0 -
Sunday-- I have drank alot of water today, but I stopped keeping track!! I actually took a rest day today but ended up walking to church this evening for a total of 2.5 miles!!! Ready to start a new week!! Good luck to all!0

I ate at Red Robin for the first time a few days ago...I had the Whiskey BBQ Chicken Wrap and it wasn't too bad calorie and fat wise, but the sodium of course was through the roof!
This weekend has not been the best for eating for me...we had two extra kids here this weekend and whew, how do people with more than one child eat healthy? Very challenging! All they ate was pizza, nuggets, noodles, and McDonalds!! But I tried to think in moderation and hope I didn't blow it, and knocked back the water all weekend too.
Catie, congrats on finishing med school!!! That is so great! I know you have worked hard, you deserve to celebrate!
And Ailene, big congrats to you too, that is awesome that you can run like that now, you are my inspiration!! :flowerforyou:
I did lots of walking this weekend on a positive note though...walked all around Nashville, had lots of fun too!0 -
Happy Sunday!
I'm finally feeling healthy again!! YAY!
The past two nights have been bad around dinner time, both days friends came over and brought pizza. It's like they know that's my weakness or something.
I've done really awesome on my water the past couple days. Not quite 10 glasses most of them, but I'm trying to get it up there! I've had to refill our brita pitcher so many times this week!
So yeah. Lookin' forward to a nice loss on Tuesday.
It's been a pizza kinda weekend for me too!!! Having three kids here this weekend=pizza!!!0 -
I haven't been posting a lot the last few days, and I haven't been logging my food, but I have been pretty good about not overeating, so I guess that's something . Thank you to everyone for the congratulations, it's a big weight off my shoulders, and now the only step left is graduation! Tomorrow I will get back on track. I've decided to finally join a gym, and I will let you all know how that goes . It sounds like everyone has been doing a really good job this week, and the fact that I have to post my weight here on Tuesday has helped me stay in line, so thank you again.
Keep up the good work, you are all amazing!0 -
It's been a great day for water! Also, I done 30 min on the elliiptical and 50 minutes on ChaLEAN Extreme Burn Intervals & Abs. Looking forward to the next challenge that comes my way..0

Got in my long run today, 16.5 miles (3.5 hours) and I think I got 8 glasses of water today, not counting what I drank on my run (24 oz bottle of water and 24 oz bottle of Gatorade)
We'll see what the scale says Tuesday. I'm glad it's not a Monday weigh in because I'm usually up a couple of pounds the day after my long run. Muscle soreness and swelling and all that fun stuff :-P
Good night, all!0 -

Today, I DID order one of the Red Robin gourmet burgers instead of the plain-Jane variety, but with a lettuce wrap and side salad that are available substitutions for the bun and fries. It turns out one of my brothers is also watching calories and carbs, so we supported each other in passing up the fries and dessert and ordering lettuce-wrapped burgers. I ended up with more sodium than desirable, but cals and carbs were within goals.
The sun is shining again today, so I spent 70 minutes in my yard raking the lawn and cutting down brush in my "wild area". Water is on track., but I think I'll get in a little extra to neutralize the excess sodium.
Yay! We'll bring them over to the dark side one by one...kicking and screaming if we have to! Okay, maybe not the last part. So proud of you, though!
I've gotten a ton of exercise this weekend, playing with my dog and hiking. Not keeping up with water, but I'm at least getting my 8 glasses a day which is sort of a struggle. I anticipate a lot of walking tomorrow as well as the next couple days as I'll be getting irrigation lines up and running.0 -
Certainly got more than my 10 glasses today. Did my first Body Vive class - an hour of hard work AND an hour and a half of Line Dancing. Hope I can walk tomorrow
Nervous about my first weigh in but I have been logging regularly and staying "clean"
Do we weigh in on Tuesday or Wednesday? Start the new challenge on Tuesday or Wednesday?
I am in New Zealand - already 9.20pm Monday night
Thanks

I've had pretty much of a not so great week. I've kept it within calorie goals but my motivation just hasn't been there for some reason and I've only been squeaking by on the exercise. Shame on me! Yesterday was a new start though so i did good on my food and exercise. I started the 30 Day Shred yesterday....she kicked my butt but other than being sooo sore this morning I feel good about getting back on track!!0

Happy Monday all!
My weekend was pretty successful. I got in all my water both days and got in a great workout on Saturday. Sunday was a lazy day. I needed to rest.
I hope you all start your week out right and have a successful weigh in tomorrow :bigsmile:0 -
I got to be honest. This weeked went downhill. 3/4 of the day I do great and then it gets ruined by temptation. We had a yard sale so I was up and walking around. Did great until dinner, which wasn't THAT bad. I had a pita w/ lettuce, tzaziki and 2 strips of beef top round (a gyro pita essentially), seasoned corn on the cob (spices, no butter) and a chicken skewer. Then i lost it with a few beers. To top that I did not exercise essentially, but I had my 10 glasses of water.
Yesterday, I did well. Walked to and from church (1 mile total), breakfast was ok; hard roll with butter and a glass of OJ. Snack was fiber select wheat thins. Then, we went to Chipotle for dinner. Ugh. I did not have an sour cream, cheese or guac on my burritto. Just rice, steak and lettuce. But we had chips and guac.
Sorry for venting, but I feel that I am having a very difficult time on weekends and I am a people pleaser, so I know that it is my weakness. I know I need to put my foot down and just say yea we can go eat, but I'm not going to have anything or just eat well when we go out to eat.
How do eat when you go out? How difficult is it, knowing the crap that these resturants put on their menus?0 -
Yesterday was so rough for me. We went out for Sunday brunch, and although I stayed away from all of the sweets and didn't go back for more it still felt like to much. Then there was a family birthday dinner, where of course there were massive amounts of food and cake. I managed to get my exercise in but I was severely lacking in water intake. Oh well, today is a new day and I'm starting turbo fire today0

I find it helpful to ask for a nutrition menu everywehre I go.. its harder for the nonchain restaraunts, but almost all chains have them available!0 -
And my weekend was shot... I was hoping I would stay on track being I joined this challenge, but my DH was home this weekend, and we went out a lot, and ate a lot, but we also got some good exercise in (my front and back yards are completely maintained, and my house is clean). I'm actually expecting a gain tomorrow.. with all the sodium I took in over the weekend, and knowing my body, i'm going to retain all that water weight. I'm going to try and flush it out today, but dont think i'll be very successful..
lunch hour at the gym, and tonight, Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism.. i havnt tried it yet, its 45 minutes of Jillian's circuit training, so i'm sure i'll be very sore tomorrow. GL all!0 -

I have a really hard time with this too. If I'm feeling really motivated, and I'm going to a chain like Chipotle, I'll look up the menu before I go and look at the nutritional information. There's usually at least one thing that is a little lower in calories (sodium goes out the window when eating out), and I'll plan ahead to get that item. That's worked for me so far at Qdoba, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Jimmy Johns.
Don't get me wrong, there are definitely days when I don't do this and I let myself go overboard at a restaurant, but what I said is how I stay under control when I'm thinking about it .0 -
Happy Monday!
I haven't been very present in this group so far--I intend to rectify that!! Like all of us, just so much to do and not enough time....
I had a good weekend (although did have pizza last night--like so many others here, pizza is my total weakness!!)--got LOTS of exercise and drank more than the water challenge.
Got a good start this morning--30 mins on the elliptical so far--Ripped in 30 and some extra abs in a bit.
Again, I am getting so much inspiration and motivation from this groups and I'm determined to be there for you all as well!!0 -

@ Eeyore - I struggle with going out. I've lost some of my 'going out spontaneity' because I need to know where we'll be eating in order to research their menu first. I force a restaurant change if there doesn't appear to be anything worth eating. Some friends are too keen on this process; but others have been quite supportive and understand why I need to do this. It's so much easier to not go out; I have complete control then of how many calories & sodium I'm eating. We went out for Sunday brunch, and although I stayed away from all of the sweets and didn't go back for more it still felt like to much.
@ Beanie - Nice job, though, on no sweets or return trips to the buffet table! That's an AWESOME accomplishment!!!
@ Tissues - I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on Jillian's BFBM DVD...if you don't mind sharing...0 -
Ailene, tonight is the first time i'm trying it, so i'm sure i'll come in with a full report either tonight or first thing in the morning (assuming I can still walk)0

Welcome to our group katznkt:) We are just a week into the challenge so you aren't too late!
I've not checked in lately.......been busy with work and have had lots of company but I've drank my water plus some and I strive to workout at least 1 hour daily. Good luck to everyone with weigh in tomorrow:)0 -
Thanks. I am excited. Really funny actually because I was already doing a weekly weigh in and full set of measurements on Tuesdays. And, this was my first week. How made for me was this???0
-
Hi guys! Got in 12 glasses of water today, mostly because of the massive workout i've just finished (110 mins:noway: ) so that i'm in my calories for today. Urgh tired. I'm learning over my time here that being over my cals isnt to terrible because as lond as i put in the effort i can make them go away. Big break through fo me.
Big hello to those people that have just joined this wonderful group. I dont know about any one else but i'm super excited about getting on that scale tomorrow. What number will i see
@katznkt I dont think that your goals are to ambitious. It's important in life to set yourself high goals. Whatever you lose during this challenge will be steps forward on your journey.
Can't wait to see the new challenges...0 -
screwed up a bit last week, still stuggling with the water, and I was so sore from my am PT that Sat I didn't work out. (Why, exactly, did we run 7+ miles 3 days in a row?!?) Still plateaued (sp), been stuck abound the same 5 lbs for 6 weeks... Looking forward to this weeks challenge!0
-
Disappointed in my water intake still but will continue to plug along0
