Really? What happened? They no longer wanted to bodyrock together? haha

I haven't tried her workouts yet since she uses alot more equipment in some of her workouts but I do plan on trying one out before my month of free workouts is over. The site is definately not as pretty as Bodyrock but some variety is always nice.

Oh that stinks that you are not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon!!

The challenge group was that big Tribal Challenge thing that has a ridiculous amount of 'teams' on MFP that participate and there's one guy that hands out weekly challenges for each team to participate in and get points for their teams. It was fun for a bit but all the checking in was tedious.

I jumped ahead on JE Live Fit because of the gym membership running out. And hitting cardio today was killer, not only was my body not 100% but it's been so long since I've done steady state cardio I had to take a break and catch a breather in front of the fan. It was almost embarrassing! LoL. 30 minutes was intense! It'll come back I'm sure...

By the time I'm a work at home girl I'll be fully informed with all you've got rockin'! Feel stronger?! More bad *kitten*?! You should. I see those burns! You are doing an awesome job!

Well I am seeing more definition in certain areas but it is funny. It seems like the more muscle I see the more apparent the extra flab is  I know Can't we all just be happy? haha But seriously I think now the extra fat is clinging oddly to the muscle. I am sure some of it is in my head but it gets better all the time so I have to just keep remembering that.

I am glad you are feeling better but don't push yourself too hard too soon. I did that with Insanity and ended up having to take off 2 days because I just couldn't recover! I would feel fine one day then after a hard workout I would feel like crap the next. It was so frustrating.

As I get closer to my goal weight though it is like every weigh day is playing russian roulette. It used to be that I knew right off if I would see a loss or not because of how well I had eatten and how hard I have worked out. Now I have no clue. Some days when I think I have done great I see the smallest loss. Other days when I ate crappy I expect to see a gain and I don't. So random but I am sure this is something you have been dealing with in for a while. It is frustrating because you feel like you don't know what to do to see that loss!

I do like the workout routine though of having a lot less cardio. Not sure how well that will pay off with the scale but it is nice. Don't get me wrong I still get decent burns since my heart rate is through the roof on alot of these workouts but it is not the same as hammering out a 700 calorie burn on the ellipitical. But I don't want to burn all that muscle I have worked so hard for

Yeh, I hear you on the sick thing. It's up & down. I may make today a rest and just workout on the weekend instead. Depends. Darn bugs. I typically avoid the ones the kids get, but guess not this one!! If today didn't include cardio, maybe. But me + cardio=no fun. LoL

I like your analogy to playing russian roulette. I think that's why I've kind of given up on even weighing in lately. I do now and again but not like I did. I know it's not moving. It annoys me. But I figure there's more good days than bad. So at this point, I hid it under the bathroom sink so I don't even have to see it in the morning!!

Yeah back when I had alot of weight to lose and every day I would see a .2 pound drop, I would weigh like 4 times a week just for thay boost! Now that it is up and down I only do it once a week and I record it no matter what but yeah there is that feeling of dread I get when I really have no idea what is going to pop up on that scale. I do feel like my clothes are getting looser but maybe that is just me stretching them out!! haha

Well my back was sore from yesterday's workout so I did go ahead and do cardio. I was a nice change but I do love the soreness and fatigue I get from the weights. haha Love the burn baby

Hope you feel better. Kids are little petri dishes!!

Hey hey here! What's up?! Been a busy long weekend, filled with unnecessary eating and no working out. Definitely hitting that slope where I'm just gliding along. Hit the gym this morning, did what I needed to do, but wasn't filling it. Hopefully this bug gets moving soon because I'm over my own pity party!! LoL.

I feel like 1st trimester pregnant- WHICH ISN'T POSSIBLE! But that about describes it. UGH!!

You, on the other hand, Mama- are looking sassy in that photo! How awesome! You have worked sooo hard and it totally shows! You should be very, very proud! You have earned it!

Coming to the end of your free month right!? What's next? Big plans for post-exercise.tv?!

Oh wow!! That really stinks! I hope you shake it soon!!

Thanks. I was actually feeling discouraged since it has been taking so long for me to lose this last bit of weight so I decided to take some pictures to see if I saw any results. I was very pleasantly surprised especially with my stomach when I looked at the side by side comparison. It is funny though, everytime I took one of those pictures I thought I looked pretty good until I saw the picture. Then I would be all mad at myself because I didn't like the way I looked even though I was making progress. This is actually the first time that I was actually pleased with the pictures. I still have some tweaking to do but overall I was very pleased. I went out and bought myself my first ever pair of skinny jeans. Now lets see if I have the balls to remove the tags and actually wear them

Yeah in about a week my free exercise month will be over. I think I am still going to do all the internet videos since I like having something different to try but I am also looking into....wait for it.....kettlebell!! I think that might mix it up and develop other muscles. The only thing is that I have never used a kettlebell and know nothing about them at all or how to even pick one. So maybe you can make some recommendations? I also think I am going to do more of the bodyrock workouts. I have actually started with the oldest ones on her website and I have been working my way in. I think I am going to do her workout and then do some cardio on the ellipitical to make my total workout time around 40 minutes.

I am still undecided if the lack of cardio is good or bad for me at this point. My weight loss has definately slowed down BIG TIME but that can be expected when you are this close. So I am not sure if I should go back to weights one day cardio the next, and so on. Ughh it is so hard to know what to do!!! I would LOVE to hit 135 by my anniversary on 9/30 but I think since I plateaued last week, that is probably a pipe dream (I am 1.8 pounds away). I used to think 1.8 pounds in two weeks was nothing but now it takes me like 2 months to lose that haha!

On a random side note. I think I am starting to see the faint resemblence of abs. Here is the thing though, to see them I have to be covered in sweat, flexing really hard, twisting to the side and standing in indirect lighting. haha. Then for a few moments I can see my obliques and a baby 2 pack (if I squint) haha  Hey its progress right? haha

I know you have not been feeling well but how do you like the Jamie Eason workout? I wish they had options for people that don't use a gym but I guess that sort of defeats the purpose.

    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
You should be proud. Those pictures show an awesome progress! And you look amazing. For sure. The slowed weight loss is annoying but you can definitely tell there's a lot of progress going on with your muscle tone regardless of the treacherous scale. And abs?! I'm sure your right! It's all really about lower body fat and you are knocking that out of the park! Flexing or not, be proud of those babies!! That was the one thing I could give props to Insanity for...all those plank knee tuck things helped out my obliques- Thank you Shaun 'The Mad Man' T.

Kettlebells are an interesting thing. A lot of people are against going at them without taking a class. But for me, it was like hitting the weight room for the first time. I didn't take a class in strength training, so there wasn't going to be a class in proper kettle bell technique. I read a lot about form and watching a lot of videos on youtube.com about them. I bought a 10lb kettle bell when I first started using it, it came with a slow paced DVD which was (*cough, lame, cough*) but it served the purpose of showing me what I needed to know about using it. I like the Jillian Shred It with Weights...is her form perfect, probably not but my form for anything probably isn't the greatest. That myomytv (SP) seems to show some good workouts, I've only peeked at it but I think that's probably a good free resource. I'd like to up mine to either a 15lb or a 20lb eventually...I just haven't been using it so I haven't bothered to buy a new one.

Take those tags off those jeans and flaunt it girl! You've earned your way into those jeans!!

Jamie's programs going well. I like the adding cardio, while still hating it. I need the cardio still so I was glad to bring it back in. My membership is up the 24th. DH has informed me I can still go sometimes using his key, per the manager at the gym. But I'm kind of looking forward to switching it up. I really thought strength training would be the right direction, and it's been awesome...but it hasn't brought me the results I was looking for. I still need to focus on fat loss, especially going in to the winter months. Working arms at 5am and then wearing a tank top in July was great but...if I'm covering my GIANT:tongue: muscles up with sweaters all winter, I might as well make them smaller sweaters!!

I did drop back down to 154 today, thank goodness. I think it was more of a combination of having this bug and eating really low and then starving all weekend and eating at least if not above maintenance. Kind of like an unplanned cycle. LoL. So I'm going to keep it in check for the next week or so and finish up my week at the gym. My plan is to start of light...I've been waxing and waning in my dedication to hit the gym (even though I go, I'm just not INTO it like I had been) so I'm thinking of just starting out mixing the bodyrocks with my JM DVDs to get moving. I want to get into the Insanity/P90x hybrid, but in being honest with myself, I'm not at a point where I'm going to dedicate an hour at least to Shaun or Tony at 5am. With the family's schedule changing, it's been hard to get through my entire morning routine before everyone has to get up and out the door. I barely get lunches and breakfasts made if I hit the gym for an hour. So we'll see...everythings an experiment right?!

I have to admit, I'm so glad to have a varied diet again. With a little soup here or a Lean Cuisine there, some chicken and rice for dinner, instead of 'EAT PROTEIN, SKIP CARBS'. I'm sure I'll go whacky again eventually (cause that's how I roll) but I feel a lot more relaxed just grabbing, eating, logging, and living. LoL.

Thank for all the kind words!! It does feel like a giant experiment! Well I will have to think about the kettlebell thing. I am scared of hurting myself so maybe I will hold off alittle. I do like doing the resistance training because I love the burn and the feeling of soreness the next day. I might just add in alittle more cardio.

As for food, I found this awesome word file that is the motherload of weight watcher crockpot recipes (it is over 100 pages!!) then soon after I found this document my sister in law posted the greatest idea for crockpots. Basically you prepare the entire recipe for the crockpot and then put it in a gallon freezer bag and freeze it until you want it. Then in the morning before work, you just dump the bag into the crock pot and turn it on! She did this for like 6 different meals on the weekend so she didn't really have to cook. I was like brilliant! So I am thinking about trying out some of those recipes like that. Do you like crockpot recipes?

We do a lot of crockpot recipes during basketball season. Makes it easy for when we aren't all together to sit down for meals. That's awesome! It makes it a lot easier to just grab and go, plus home made is great!!

My parents did WW years ago and lost some awesome weight. They are back on it now (the old points system) and so now when I go there for dinner, it tends to be easier to know I'm 'behaving'! LoL. That helps...since I'm there ALOT!!!

I'm have an awesome lunch break. Friday is Talan's 'bring a healthy snack for class' day so I've been surfing the web for a great recipe that's both healthy and kid friendly but also LOOKS appealing to 4 year olds. It's a lot of fun!! We'll be whipping up something creative Thursday night!!

Ohhh sounds like fun! I have been surfing the web for recipes for our Halloween party we are throwing for Josie's first Halloween. Ok so its mostly for cool boozy drinks since I basically have my menu down. haha

Well we finally hit a milestone yesterday. At just a week shy of 10 months Josie is cutting her first tooth (well actually too at the same time). I never thought I would get so excited over a tooth in my life! Ah to be a parent right?

Hope you are feeling alittle better today!

It really is amazing the things that we find utterly fascinating and marvelous about our children! That is exciting! Any time it's a whole 'new' experience I still take way to many pictures/videos - as if us Mama's ever forget anyways!!!

My sister just asked me last night if she could borrow my Insanity again, she wants to give it another go. And that was just enough incentive for me to set up a new plan for the next month. Along with my MIL is coming to stay with us in November. I'm going to see if I check out exercise tv today (totally stealing that idea!!) and then go from there. It should be fun to mix it up, and I can hit you up for what to look for if I go with exercise tv!!

I'm also going to give Lindsay a fair shot. I'm thinking on bodyrock days, I'll go with Brin as a core workout. So we'll see..kind of fly by the seat of my pants kind of deal. LoL.

Wow you are on fire!! You have a plan! Did you sister not make it through Insanity last time? I honestly don't know how I did it.

There are a few really good ones on exercisetv. The ones on Hulu are mostly too weak for me but there are a few exceptions. If you like pilates I recommend the pop pilates but you generally have to combine 2 or 3 workouts to get one solid one since she breaks it down (Arms, legs, abs, butt, etc) in like 10 minute segments.

So this is random. My boobs have majorly shrunk (both from the weight loss and starting to wean breastfeeding). For some this might be an issue but honestly I like that they are now much more manageable. (I went from a 38G to a 34F, which is 2 cup sizes since in UK sizes there is a FF). I am loving it since now they are starting to fit into things! And this afternoon I needed to new bra so I went shopping for my old faithful and I actually found a racerback bra that fits! I have never owned a racerback bra nor could I wear anything with that type of back because of it. I am so stoked! Also I tried on a strapless bra and it was much more comfortable to wear then they have in the past. I assume because there is not so much to had to hold up! haha  Strapless here I come!!!

She attempted it but didn't do it all out according to the schedule. She's 26 and leads a 'night life' like a 26 year old. LoL. So she tends to do it hit and miss. I'm taking it to her this weekend and hopefully she does it. I told her even if she doesn't follow the schedule and just does 3-4 days of it, it's intense enough with her not working out at all to do some wonderful things!

Boob shrinking! LoL. I complain sometimes because mine have decreased alot as well. But I was only ever a C cup, even when pregnant so now being a small B some of my shirts would like better if I had more boobs. But at the same time, what's the point of them?! If they fit in a sports bra, I'm happy and don't have to worry about bouncin'!! I love racer back bras. I buy Walmarts sports bras that are racerbacks...they are just too cute. So ....Tube top next?! :blushing:

I've been slacking and have missed the gym 2x this week. Going to have to go tonight. I can only imagine how life will be when the kids are both involved in things. We had to go to a football game for a friend of mine's kiddo. They had came to Talan's game, so we needed to do the same for him. As a result, I had McDonald's and never got home until 9pm. Sucking down water now. I've gotta figure out a plan because what I'm doing now is madness. LoL. Everyone else's stuff gets done but Mama doesn't get a workout, a lunch packed or breakfast much this week. Yikes!

Oh I am telling you! I have gotten crazy!! Skinny jeans, jeggings (crazy I know), racer back and strapless! I even have been wearing some booty shorts (well they are booty shorts for me but probably normal length for most people but still). I have never felt so alive

Ok so can you keep a secret? I have a few more days of my free workout challenge but when I was at the store today I saw a single copy of the P90X knockoff (supreme 90 or whatever) for $12.99. It was calling to me and I couldn't resist since come on! Its 10 workouts for the price of DVD!! haha so I am going to finish out the free workout month this coming week and then its on like donkey kong haha. I am hoping it helps build my muscle mass so I can be RIPPED UP!! haha

    Feeling any better?:flowerforyou:

You are a trooper! Holy congrats is in order on your 60 milestone! You are a total kick *kitten*! And (in a whisper voice) I'll never tell about the DVD BUT you totally earned an opportunity to knock out another program! Get it girl! You rock! Absolutely rock!!

I'm feeling okay. I had to go this AM to have some blood tests run, yippeee! And next Thursday I have to go have a HR monitor put on for 24 hours. WTH!?! Apparently, not being able to diagnosis what's going on with me equates to every test under the sun. She said probably either thyroid or anemic and the flu could just be holding on because of one of those things. But, hey why not run a few other tests 'just in case'. I'm like....okay...you remember I'm 29, workout, and eat relatively healthy right...and of course I got the, 'better safe than sorry' response. So I missed yet another workout which means, I only hit the gym 1 week in my last week of membership. I'm okay with it though...I got a run in the other night after practice and took a nice, long quiet walk with the pups last night. I'm moving..just not at my normal pace. LoL. I've started laying out my plan for next week (darn, forget my notebook to finish it at lunch!) Did some research on pop pilates and figure I can go ecclectic with just a little plan in place so I don't wake up at 5 and say WHAT AM I DOING TODAY?! It'll be good...

I had to laugh though because I got home and my oldest says to me, 'footballs almost done, so I'm going to do basketball next..okay Mom?!' And I'm thinking...well, of course it's okay but where does Mommy time come in?!

**edited to add...he is only 4!!!***

Thanks! 60 was a big milestone for me and I really wasn't expecting it so it was awesome  I need to get myself a new exercise ball for this program because my old one was popped by a german shepherd while I was sitting on it!!! He thought we were playing and ran up and tried to grab it and of course I fell flat on my butt and he went running because the noise scared him haha.

Well hopefully those tests tell you what is wrong or you just are able to shake it. It is miserable being sick!!

How cute about your son. I both look forward to and dread the day Josie will start talking haha!!! Have a great weekend and get some rest and mommy time!!!

Kickin' butt today so I'm feeling good. Getting better so I'm happy. Looks like you'll be rockin' it in the AM. Hope you get a good rest so your ready to kill it tomorrow.

My plan is to do 6week6pack 1st, and then walk the dogs for 30 minutes...I'm a little leary about the latter. I took them today for a 30minute, they were panting and slowing down on the way back, next thing I know my youngest dog is pukin' all over the kitchen. WTH!! I'm hoping it was a fluke and not a 'hey Mom I'm outta shape so I ralphed all over!' thing...we'll see...they need the exercise so round 2 tomorrow.

Big T was up at 530 with me so he took over the TV and it was raining..change of plans due to all of that but still got in a workout. My legs were super tight and tired from the run last night...so the lower burn probably wasn't a bad thing.

How was the Halloween body rock?
  • jennieodwyer
    jennieodwyer Posts: 1,036 Member
Haha! Yeah our fat dog is very out of shape. She comes back to the house guzzles tons of water then pukes half of it back up. Awesome! The halloween workout was ok. It was killer for the abs but it made my tailbone sore from all the rolling even though I was on two foam mats! I am very pleased with my purchase of the ankle weights for my afternoon power walks. It has really increased my calorie burn especially when I climb the stairs after.

I stupidly got on the scale this morning thinking it would be pretty decent and it was way high for no reason at all. AHHH so frustating. Shouldn't have done it. I should have just waited until my Friday weigh day since there is no realt explanation for a 2.5 pound jump when there is no sodium increase or muscle soreness. Oh well I think I am driving myself crazy. I just want to finish stong for my last week of randome workouts and also for my anniversary on Friday. Hopefully I will still be able to hit that 135 goal then but at 137.6 on the scale today (135.2 on Sat) there is no telling.

So glad you are feeling better!!
  • mamareese
    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
    Our poor pups. LoL.

The scale is an a-hole. hehehe. I hopped on it on Friday and am avoiding it. It's so up & down. At one point Friday I weighed less AFTER dinner than I did when I had just gotten out of bed. Seriously!? 135, 137, 136.5- either way, you'll rock whatver fancy outfit you pull on to woo your DH on your anniversary. i'm sure!!

It amazes me how simple things can really be. Do some power walking-even if it makes us giggle about being a throw back- add some ankle weights to increase burn. No fancy gadgets, no miracle cure...just plain old get out there and move your booty! Love it.

I'm hoping, double fingers crossed, to workout tomorrow morning. Wednesday night is supposed to be my run night, but forecast says rain....so I'd like to get up and workout. Problem?! Something about my parents' house makes me revert back to sleepign in and waiting until my mom hollars 'ARE YOU GETTING UP!?' LoL....so we'll see!!

Looks like you go it done girl!!! Isn't it nice to get it out of the way? I don't think I can ever workout at night since I lack the motivation. That and the baby wants to be glued to my hip from the minute I get home until she goes to bed. Keep working it

What an awesome burn you knocked out this AM! Way to go girl! Count down to the big anniversary!? :drinker:

I did get in my workout. Youngest was up at 3am and didn't go back to sleep so I figured, give him a 5lb weight and we'll get it done now. LoL. It was entertaining. Almost as entertaining as him trying to be a Power Rangers @ 4am while I trying to convince him to go back to bed.

    Finding balance right?!?!

That is awesome that you gave him a weight!! Good for you for getting it done so early!

Yeah I doubled up this week (weights in the morning, cardio at lunch). I was excited since this was the first time in a long time I had a 1000 calorie burn when you totaled my two workouts. Not sure if it will help anything on Friday but here is to hoping!

    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
Let me just say...I do hope you rehit your goal for Friday but either way whatever you wear or whatever you weigh you will look and feel fabulous! How could you not?! Look at those before and afters....and that adorable little one of yours- you've had a good year girl!

Took two days off from work (Thursday and Friday) so I'm looking forward to a nice workout those days, no run tonight it's been raining all day. Thinking I'm going to have to start subbing Bodyrocks on the no run days. It's amazing how sore my butt is after a run. LoL.

My parents are also coming over for dinner tomorrow so I'm trying to find a healthy slow cooker recipe on the internet. Something yummy of course but also simple because I will have my littlest with me all day and I'd rather hang out than slave over the stove.
