Good luck with the weigh in. I switched things up for 2 weeks and I promised myself I'd stay off the scale for that 2 weeks...thankfully 1 week is down. LoL. I'm just becoming to obsessed with the scale and I think if it doesnt start moving (and I keep watching it) I'll lose my steam- so I broke up with it for a while. LoL.
It does sound like the original is pretty good. I was looking at that one and the CFS (?!?!, memory lapse) since it's definite that I'll be giving up my gym membership. I'll miss the weights, but honestly...it might be the shove I need to start that P90xInsanity Hybrid. Right now, I've really just been doing the bodyrocks (mostly at home) and the strength training. I'll definitely miss that part of the gym but for the cost of a month at the gym I can get a couple weights. No biggie.
I'll be Brin'ing it tomorrow for abs day. I definitely appreciate her for that without a doubt!0 -
Yeah I can easily get discouraged by the scale sometimes!! I used to weigh much more often than once a week and I was driving myself nuts so I cut back to once a week but occasionally I will hop on mid week to see where I am at. I don't really know why since usually it is higher than I expect and it just angers me. Maybe I like it because then I am pleased when my weight it down on Friday. haha So stupid!!
Oh so you are for sure giving up the gym membership? :ohwell: I am sorry. If it is any consolation, I used to be a total gym rat but had to give it up when I had Josie and now I am way lower weight wise just working out at home. It is an adjustment but the cost and time savings are great. I used to never think I could keep working out without my gym membership. I do miss my classes still though. Not about to buy a spin bike
Ok as for Ms. Brin, if you are looking at the CFS Method video DON'T GET IT. It is almost exactly the same as the ab workouts in the bootcamp 2 DVD. It is good if you don't have the bootcamp 2 but it would be extremely repeditive for you since you already have it. I would recommend the original bootcamp or the shed 5 fast DVD (I think the Core Metabolic Jumpstart may be to easy for you). If you are looking for more core work, I have heard her Core Fitness DVD is good. I am tempted to try it. If you are going to get any of her videos I have a 40% off coupon code which I think is still good for her website. Just message me and I will send if. I am also thinking of trying some of her download workouts.
Now if you really want to get hardcore Babysteals is selling this set (http://www.healthyfitbodies.com/) for $50 and it has shed 5 fast in it. I heard some of the workouts are pretty intense. I just don't have the money right now but I thought I would pass along
Well I am very excited today I broke 140!! I seriously never thought I would be in the 130s ever again. I thought 140 was the best I could do. So excited. Granted I found out my ideal weight for my small frame is actually 121 but I am just going to ignore that. haha!0 -
Congrats on busting through that new victory! Awesome job! That's way exciting. It's amazing how you've gotten into this awesome groove! I would have though Insanity killed a bunch of pounds for all of us, but everyone has to find what works for them. And you're definitely moving and grooving in a great direction! WTG!!
Yeh, no more gym membership at the end of August. Sad, but it's ok. Hopefully it won't be forever. And hopefully iit doesn't slow down my mojo.
The scale is frustrating. I've been great at eating and at the gym 5-6 days a week doing my thing. I lost those 2lbs and then they came right back. My body just gets to comfortable at certain points. It was 157 for FOREVER and now it's 154. I hate it. But not much I can do but just keep going at it.
I'll have to check that DVD you recommended out. I'm not sure which direction to go when I make the switch from gym to home. Either I have to spend some money on a few weights or a couple DVDS. Just not sure which one will help keep me going in the right direction.
Anyways, time to make dinner for the crew. Congrats again on the loss. Amazing!0 -
I can't imagine how frustrating that would be! Hopefully you will break through and be in the 140s soon enough. For me I think I was overtraining with Insanity especially with the breastfeeding. I think the strength training really has helped me as well. We will see what happens when I start weaning my daughter in a few months. I am sure I will need to adjust my eating but hopefully it doesn't pack the pounds on immediately.
I just signed up for a netflix trial so I am excited to try out a few new videos. Sadly they don't have Core Fitness yet so I can't try that one out but there are a bunch of other ones.
Have a great weekend!0 -
Netflix is a great idea. I was looking at the Exercise TV the other day. We dont have it 'on demand' bu t apparently you can use it through your computer. It's amazing what ou can do. LoL.
I took yesterday and I'm taking today off from all the 'everything weight related' (aside from hopping on here!) not to eat terrible but just to relax and do our thing as a family. And then DH and I are setting up goals tonight to help each other bust through our frustrations. He's the opposite with trying to gain weight and he got up to 211 (which atI 6'2' he was happy with) but with the heat his weight drops like CRAZY! He's down to 201 in just over a week. I told him to stop losing it because I seem to find some of it! So he's reassessing where he is, I'm going to do the same and we are going to find ways to help each other push through.
I realized yesterday, and this will probably come out as a gripe, but I totally don't mean it that way...we went to the state park beach and I thought forget it I'm rocking my bikini to get some sun and that's that. I did. I was 'okay' with it but THEN i saw the pictures and I thought...okay, yes I have made improvements. There are definitely alot of positive changes since I started this journey but THIS is NOT the time to slack off. With clothes on, I look fine. But seeing those pics made me realize you've just ogt to keep pushing. You can talk the good talk, and even go through the motions, but somewhere I'm missing something. Not sure what it is yet, but I'm gonna find out!! LoL.0 -
Oh I hear you! I don't think it is griping. I feel like I have made incredible progress but then I feel like I still have work to do so I can't get too lax. I was at a waterpark over the weekend and I can't wait until my thighs stop touching/rubbing (if that is possible) haha! I never thought at this weight I would still need to lose more but I can tell certain areas are too heavy and I can do better!!
Sadly with the water park and hanging out with extended family this weekend I was sort of wheels off the diet for the past three days. I am sort of scared it will be another repeat of 4th of July weekend where I majorly over ate and under worked out and ended up gaining a pound. I don't want to see the 140s again! haha I know I am whiny! For me it is one thing to plateau it is another thing to gain and lose ground. I will also be traveling this weekend so that is always hard. Actually this wil be the baby's first plane ride and hotel stay so I am alittle anxious about that. Hopefully I don't have the kid that screams the whole flight! Oh well.
I did some Netflix on demand workouts over the weekend and I have to say they were pretty weak in comparison to the bootcamp workouts. Especially the ones that were done by Shape magazine (I should have known right?) haha. It was like 40 minutes and I was barely breaking a sweat!!! I will try a few more out though. The Crunch one was ok but still feel like I need more intensity. I have done some of the exercisetv ones online and they are good for variety but I think I am becoming a workout DVD snob! haha:laugh:0 -
Definitely not whiny girl! I totally agree. Plateaus happen and they are frustrating but I know that feeling of wanting to smack yourself for relaxing a little too much. I can only imagine what maintenance looks like - probably like standing on a tight rope trying to balance yourself over a fire pit. LoL. Okay, probably not that bad- but you know what I mean!
How exciting about the trip!! I'm sure she'll do fine. We took my oldest when he was just over a year to Florida (my MIL lives there) and I was fretting the whole time...what if he needs a diaper change on the plane-how would that be possible?!? But he did fine..he enjoyed a little movie, some snacks, and a lot of 'ohhh look at that cloud' comments. He did well, and I'm positive she will. Hotel stays are fun too. We opted for 2 full beds when we just had one kiddo and I always ended up sleeping with the little one, of course he was a little older by then. The pack and play just wasn't his thing even at home!
I borrowed Ripped in 30 by Jillian Michaels from a friend. WOW! That's a workout. Short but intense. And she's got that Shaun T attitude in it. Different from her 30DS 'tude! I had to laugh a couple times like 'okay, you're playing the bad *kitten* character to prove this is a TOUGH workout' But it really is! I'm sore today for sure. I was glad today was just strength training rounds. I couldn't have handled much more!
Those Shapes. I LOVE reading the magazine and getting some recipes on line but yeh, I can imagine what your saying. I had downloaded one of Elle Mags workouts with Brooklyn Decker (DH Loves her so I thought why not?!) but it was terrible. I like taking it lighter on some days, but some of them are like why bother?! So I hear ya!
I'm on another thread with a bodyrock challenge so I'm going to try to get one of Zuzzana's workouts in. We'll see...what shocks me is I've been working the crap out of my lower half and yet 1 day of Ripped in 30 and my upper body is killing me! I want that burning sensation in my thighs/butt!!0 -
Crap!! Where do you change a diaper on a plane?
ooohh tell me about the body rock challenge!!0 -
The stewardess swore that people have done it in those bathrooms. Now I personally haven't even stepped foot in one but I watch movies (hahaa) and I can't imagine. I don't know how long your flights is...when we go we took a flight to Atlanta*about an 1.5h* and then switched planes there to get to Floriday *another 1* and in the down time on the plane...and with a pre and post change we made it fine. LUCKILY. I'll be wishing you the same luck. Definitely.
The body rock challenge started out as a set routine of workouts (the 6 week Summer Challenge) but we all got bored with doing the same rotation of workouts so we attempt 1 body rock a day and, honestly, no one has yet to do it every day but it's fun because someone will suggest a workout they did and then you can give that whirl and compare complaints. LoL. It's a small group so it's about as quiet as our Brin forum...but it's fun grunting about a 12 minute workout that totally kicks your butt!
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/301666--closed-group-bodyrock-get-fit-for-summer-6-week-challenge0 -
Yeah that is crap. I have no idea how they would possibly change a diaper in that bathroom. There is no place to put them down! My mom said just use the seat if you have to (which we might). Its is a 3 hour flight so there is a fair good chance she will poop and pee during this flight since it is also right during her usual poop time
I will have to check out that thread. I never know what bodyrock workouts wouldn't kill me  I did just some elliptical intervals today but boy my butt and shoulders are sore from Ms. Brin's toning workouts yesterday. Tomorrow is another strength training day so I am not sure what workout I am going to do. Decisions decisions. hmmmmm0 -
With bodyrocks, sometimes I'll go through them once as a time challenge setting up reps/set with the exercises to make sure I know how to do them correctly before going at them as an interval. She does a great job of explaining and gives demos but sometimes you just have to try it yourself before you can trust that your body will do what it is supposed to!
Are you alternating elliptical with Brin's workouts now? Have you decided what you'll do next?0 -
Yes that was actually part of the 60 day slim down. She had 2-3 days of just cardio which was either the cardio in her videos or doing interval jogging. I can't jog outside now so I did them on my elliptical. It does get a better burn than just doing a straight program even on higher resistance.
So I alternate her toning and abs DVDs with the elliptical right now. It is working out but we will see how far I get before I need to change it up to get results.
I will be flying out early tomorrow on our first flight but I will be back on Monday with a full report! Have a great weekend0 -
I"M BACK!!!! Haha. Ok so Josie did wonderfully on the airplane both times. She was a total champ with all the strangers and walking around the city all day on Friday. HOWEVER, she didn't want to sleep at all. She didn't want to nap or sleep and night. We were so ridiculiously sleep deprived. I am sure it was because she didn't want to nap and miss anything and she didn't want to sleep at night because it was unfamiliar surroundings but wow. I haven't felt like that since she was a newborn. I am annoyed with myself also since when I am extremely overtired I way overeat. I know this but I still did it so I have no idea what to expect on the scale this week. I have doubled up the workouts this week (regular workouts plus walking) to try to undo the damage but it was bad. Very bad. haha
So do you use an interval timer for the bodyrock workouts?0 -
Aww I'm so glad she did well with the plane! That's a relief! And another journey under her belt! Awesome! They always seem to get their sleeping habits juggled when even the littlest change happens, don't they?! I hear ya!
I've been behaving with eating BUT we are getting ready to head to the fair tonight for a monster truck show and rides with the kids...trying to behave today and prepare for making the best choices out of the options but come on...who doesn't like funnel cake! LoL. We'll see...
Saw your blog post. Glad you are figuring out your way with all this mumbo jumbo! LoL. It's a learning process without a doubt!0 -
And the interval timer...I had gotten one on amazon (the kids then proceeded to play with it and subsequently lose it..) so I downloaded a free gymboss app on DH's ipod and use that if it's around. If not, I'll just pick a decent amount of sets and go back to back on them with a stop watch.0
-
Gymboss has an app?? That is awesome!! Have fun at the fair! When I do to places like that I can't stick to a diet. I just try not to go overboard and really enjoy the food I am eating. As for the blog, I wish I had figured it out sooner but hey thats life. I think my next blog will be all the random tips and tricks I have used to help with weight loss/working out. Hopefully my trial and error can help someone else avoid the mistakes I have made0
-
Yeh, I was excited about the app plus it's free...what beats that?! Nothing!
The fair went fine. We were there for almost 5 hours (we also took in a Monster Truck show so that took up 1.5hrs) but I spent most of the time carrying one of the kids! Aside from that eating was fine, the kids were too excited to sit down and eat much. So they shared fries and a funnel cake...I had a few bites but nothing to worry much about. Was glad too because my sister told me they were selling mini donuts which are my favorite things at fairs but luckily, with the 2 kids, I didn't have time to hunt down the things I wanted!
I'm STILL sore from Mondays workout...REALLY sore. I'm going to go late to the gym. We didn't get home until after 10 and the littlest one woke up after we got home so it was a long night. Couldn't do the early morning today. Heck, I barely got out of the bed for work! So gotta motivate myself to go tonight around 8!0 -
Wow was that soreness from the Bodyrock workout?0
-
No, lifting with DH. Too many squats + up'd my weight. Apparently regardless of how many squats I do during body rocks....the heavy weights squats are still killer. LoL.0
-
Morning! I had strength and core today so I did the Brin core workouts. Felt good to just focus on abs for a while. Made for a light workout over all but lots of heavy weights and some good form core. Can't grumble about that!
We go to the water park (last outing before Talan starts school) so gotta behave so I'm not too self conscious on that get away! Spending the day off work tomorrow painting our house (does it ever end!!) so should get some nice stretch, reach, lift, brush work in. LoL.
Great burn this morning, even with baby girl interrupting. She must have known it was workout time and tried to remind you whose #1 (as if you'd ever forget!)0 -
Maybe you need Zuzanna's sand bag to up those squats
Yeah and the funny thing this morning is that I fed her and she went right back to sleep. Too late for me to finish my workout! Oh well. haha
Have fun at the waterpark! So much fun0 -
*Total slacker alert* Been off work since Friday...skipped gym Friday, Saturday and Sunday...wow. And just ate like crap. Total crap. Hit the gym today and took the kids for a walk. Still feeling the effects and need to get water down the hatch more often. I may dislike going to work but I will say it's good for my healthy eating and water intake!
Saw you hit it hard this morning! Great job!. I'm back on track. That much I know. Even just 3 days and I can feel that difference in my workout shorts or even the Old Navy shorts I had on this afternoon. I spent WAY too much time reorganizing my closet and putting away my bigger sizes to even think about going back there! Whip my *kitten* into shape! LoL
Hope your weekend was fabulous! It feels like fall here and it's making me terribly sad. One week and Big T starts school...he's too excited, I'm too anxious. LoL.0 -
I would take fall any day!! We are still in record breaking heat with highs in the 100s every day. We even got up to 108 on day. My poor lawn and electric bill.
I am trying to get back on track too since I slowly gained just under a pound over the last two weeks from slacking off on the weekends. I saw 140 again last week and it wasn't pretty haha. I have learned the hard way that if you go WAY overboard on the weekend you can't really make it up during the week no matter how hard you workout. At least I can't.
Saturday I didn't have much time to work out so I pulled out and oldie but a goodie and went with the 30DS level 3. I haven't done it since before Insanity. It was still a workout but wow it is so much easier when you are 40 pounds lighter!! I was impressed with myself. On Sunday though my shoulders and arms were certainly sore!!
I need to get up the cahonies (no idea how to spell this) to try one of the bodyrock workouts. Have you every tried her recipes?0 -
Never tried her recipes. Jotted a few down but never got around to doing them. I have been eating the 'Tone It Up' Pancakes (when I'm home and NOT on vacation) from toneitup.com. They are pretty decent.
Great job on the Bodyrock today! Killer! That one is a beast! My internet was super slow last night so finding the ones I started with was a pain in the @$$!! Glad you found somewhere to start!
I did the Jamie Eason Live Fit workout last night. Lifting some heavier weights and after being out at an animaland with the kids all day..it was the last thing I wanted to do...but it got done. Today is cardio, well after a lonnnngg day back to work it will be cardio. Ugh, why can't I wake up in the AM anymore?!?!?! So frustrating!
There are soooo many Body Rocks you could definitely find enough to do those everyday. And modifying isn't too hard for anything that she doesn't use the dipstation on. I will be glad when she starts posting new videos daily again..it makes it much easier! LoL.0 -
Yes! That was a crazy workout. I think I am going to be so sore tomorrow. I was only able to do 25 of the full pushups then moved to the knee ones for the rest but I didn't feel too bad since Zuzanna did the same thing the first time  I just wish she stuck with her original workouts of only using the timer and body weight not the standbag and the ball and the other crap.
I will have to try the one you suggested. Those dive bombers look intense!! I wonder if I can do those or not. haha So normally she posts workouts every day or every few days? I am hoping this might be enough to push me over the hump and maybe I can get some real definition
Do you have one of those sandbags and all the other stuff? I will have to check out the toneitup website and Jamie Easton. I also found www.blogilates.com and want to try some of her workouts since I love me some pilates! Have a good day back at work!0 -
I've read the comments on the site before and alot of people make them same comments about the equipment and she suggests going back to older ones and that because this is 'all she does' she has to up the ante so to speak with some equipment. but my thought is...why such expensive equipment?
I don't have the sand bag, I usually use my kettle bell for swings and deadlifts and then I have an 8lb exercise ball I use for some of them and a regular exercise stability ball for things like the 'ugi ball'.
She's on a 'burpees everywhere' get away. but usually they post a new workout 3-4 times a week and then list what workout they went back to on the days they don't create a new one.
I just came across that blogilates.com site the other day. I stole some Pop Pilates leg workouts from here. Simple stuff but I was sore after.
Sometimes I think I have too many 'cards in my deck' with all these sites, programs, etc. But I get bored quickly and my mood changes so having options helps.
I'm committing to the Jamie Eason website though. An MFP friend of mine is doing it too so hopefully that will help with accountability. I know clean eating is 98% of it and it's 75% of my issue (particularly on weekends and vacations!) so I have to clean that up. It's better for the whole family when Mommy's eating well anyways, right?! :laugh:0 -
Good for you! I am bad about clean eatting. I do my best and I am alot better but I still eat tons of crap. I used to just watch calories but now I try to eat as much protein and veggies/fruits within those calories. I know I could do better but I don't think I could ever be 100%. I think it I did I would just binge on crap later. Clean eating 100% of the time just isn't a lifestyle change I can make right now
I think if I become a stay at home mom I will do so much better with it since I will be the one making dinner, shopping etc. Right now since my husband is home he does it and he is about 80 pounds overweight. You can imagine how he flips when I try to make anything too healthy. The best he can do it meat and potatoes. I think if I lived alone I would do much better. I stay away from the crap he eats but I think it isn't worth the battle to try new things with him. It is nice that your husband is also into fitness with you.
As for the bodyrock stuff, do you think you are supposed to do it everyday? I would think I would be so sore :laugh:0 -
She does recommend 5 days I think. But I def don't think I coukd back to back to back in the beginning. I'd start out with like 3 a week staggered. I think 2 back to backs was all I could get in, my butt gets sore with these workouts...a good thing! But every muscle (no matter how much it needs worked) has to have a break!
Clean eating definitely isn't my forte but I actually have realized I do feel a whole lot better energy level wise when I am. These past few weeks were I've been up/down constantly...I'm struggling with energy and headaches. And I know part/alot of it has to do with the variance in my diet. Gotta get it in check. I just bought some brown rice. I typically steer away from carbs but Jamie's plan suggestes starchs for breakfast and dinner. So I figured I"d give it a shot.
I've put the DVDs aside (poor Lindsay and Jillian) for the next few weeks to concentrate on gym stuff. It'll seem less boring transitioning to home workouts if it's been awhile since I've done them. At least I've convinced myself of such.
There's so much out there on the web plus the cheap DVDs, you really can switch up your workouts as you want. It's awesome! I just got my P90x back so I'll be good to go in September.
Have you decided if you'll just try Bodyrocks for a while solely or just supplement with them?0 -
When does your gym membership run out?
I actually am going to mix it up and do some free online workouts for a month (check out my blog). It starts tomorrow so we shall see. I am going to concentrate on less intense cardio and more on resistance training (seems like Bodyrock has alot of that down). Trying to get creative and mix it up since I am coming down to the home stretch. I thought it would be fun :laugh:0 -
Ironically, DH just found out she's going to give me September to for him helping out at the gym. So I've got until September 24th to rock it at the gym and pump up my motivation so I can handle the 'big transition' I just worry because I tried to make the switch last year and fell of the wagon through the major holidays seasons (Halloweenish-Christmas) and it was BAD!!
I saw your blog. Awesome. Great plan! Definitely realizing there's lots out there if you take a second to research free workouts. I love the bodyrocks. They are killer but they are something that it's hard to find an excuse to escape. 12 minutes? Yeh...I better just do it! And it does sound fun because you'll get to try out all kinds of different things!
I did Legs & Back today. It's weird because I want to do ab work but it's not on the plan...so I'm trying to follow her advice but me and plans....not so good with the fine print. I figure I'll give it 2 weeks and then see what she's got up her sleeve next. She adds cardio back in after the first few 'muscle building' weeks. And then I'll gripe about cardio. LoL.0
