Oh the holiday season is so bad to begin with!!! I have no idea how well I am going to hold up this year. Usually I don't count calories all day and I let myself go alittle but only for a few days. If I make it to goal weight by then I think it will be much easier for maintance but we shall see. I am not sure what my maintance calories should be honestly. I don't even know what my goal weight is going to be since I think I am still going to need to get some more body fat off at 135. Sigh.

Yeah I am definately going to rely alot of the bodyrock workouts and some others. Hopefully increasing strength training with get me ripped haha

Looks like you got your strength in today! Awesome!

It took everything I had to get to the gym today. Big T started school this morning so I snuggled a little longer with him this morning and then decided I'd better get my butt moving. I'm on day 8 of the Jamie Eason Live Fit. Ate like crap over the weekend though. Nerves are shot with all this growing up going on!!

Haha! I can imagine. It goes by so fast! I am going to be scared to death when she is a teenager!! As for working out I am still so sore from the Bodyrock workout on Saturday!! It is crazy how much it works. Now I see why she has the body. haha I am thinking I will do another one of her workouts this week. I don't know how some people do that everyday since I need some serious recovery time after that!! I would like to try the one you send me but I am not sure if my arms will be up for those dive bombers!!

I also had so so eatting this weekend. I was good most of the time but I ate really bad last night so we shall see how that effects me this week. Hope your little man does well in school today!!

Day 9 (I think) of Jamie Eason's Live Fit. Back and biceps. Man as tough as I think I am...I suck at anything bicep related. LoL. I'm exhausted today though...and not feeling too well so I'm glad it's out of the way.

I was checking out the bodyrock site yesterday and it looks like they'll be back home in a few days so next week will be new workouts. Hopefully you can find a good one that doesn't involve all of her crazy equipment!!

I know and they posted a new workout yesterday. I like that the new videos have modifications for beginners and also how to do the workouts without equipment. For the most part the workouts with the equipment (especially the ball) would probably be too hard for me anyways. haha So I am sure I can use a weight for some of the sandbag action and ignore the other things  I don't know how people do these workouts 5-6 days a week! I need like 2 days to recover! I am finally not sore anymore from my SATURDAY bodyrock workout. You think you are in great shape until these workouts kick your butt!!!

I am still mixing it up on my free workout month but after that I am going to try to work my way through the bodyrock workouts from the very beginning now matter how hard they look  I am curious to see if my lack of straight cardio is going to effect my weight loss. I saw that your plan doesn't have cardio at all in the first phase. How is that working for you? Any results yet since you are through the first week?

Ohhh the new one looks tough. Glad they are back at it. Makes it easier to navigate the site. Props to you for considering tackling the bodyrock world. I love it. It's an awesome site- a free to boost.

Can't say that there has been any results yet. I am avoiding the scale for a bit to avoid getting discouraged. They don't let you view what's after the first four weeks yet...but there isn't any cardio in those four weeks. In a way, I've come to like the fact that it seems 'lighter'. I've just been hitting a brick wall with motivation lately. But it's hard to say "I'm not going to the gym today" when I know I can go and be back in 45 minutes and check another day of the 12 week program. So it's working for me in that aspect. We'll see. I haven't measured in ages and I probably should do that as part of beginning of this program. Just kind of going with the flow of the program and trying to avoid those things that tend to make me putter out!

Yeah it is hard not to get discouraged some times when you don't have immediate results. Well we shall see how well I do with my bodyrock workout tomorrow. I still don't think I could do more than 3 a week though. I am curious to see what type of definition I can get with just calorie counting and not clean eating. I think I should still see fairly good results just because I expect to lose more body fat, even if I am not as lean as I could be because of sodium, etc. I just know I could not keep up 100% clean eating over time especially with my husband.

I have noticed though that since I have upped the resistance training I have been so hungry!!! I have to really work to keep it in check. I hope that is a good thing. haha

Oh I definitely think you'll see great results. You do such a great job of sticking with things...and I'm sure you drink enough water, sodium be damned. I think clean eating is great...and I'm all for it...but yeh 100% doesn't fit into my at home life well either. As good as hubs does with eating 'well', we are still fly by the seat our pants kind of people some days and Arbys or whatever is gonig to happen.

And YES to hungrier with resistance training. I've been snackier this week, and actually hungry not just...I want to eat because...well, I want to it! It happens...and feeding the 'muscle' or whatever isn't a bad thing. I'm still experimenting with not eating back exercise calories, just to see what it does. I can't ever get a real handle on where to set my calories so experiment I will. I'll never be able to nail down what it was that worked if the scale starts moving again thought!! LoL.

Yes I just want to eat, eat, and eat some more! I got on the scale this morning (bad I know) and it wasn't good so I am trying not to get discouraged. These last few weeks have basically been the hardest to get weight off and also keep my eating under control. I am still eating too much crap on the weekends and it is greatly effecting my loss. I would like to think it is muscle growth but the measurements are the same so...... ahhhhh it is so hard! I am going to keep going though and still lay off alot of the cardio and see if in the next week or two I get better results but if not I might need to add so more back in. I am sure you have felt this frustration! I still am so up in the air with my calories also. I tend to want to cut them back but with the breastfeeding and everything I don't want to run myself into the ground by cutting too much. I try to just eat less of my exercise calories but honestly I am HUNGRY and I feel like I should eat when I am hungry just try to use restraint  I am so curious to hear how your 1500 no exercise calorie plan works!

Progress gets so slow but we're getting it!! Jamie Eason just posted the next 4 weeks as a 'heads up' so I got to check that out and she adds the cardio back in. 30 minutes medium intensity. I'm not looking forward to it but I know it'll feel like the right track. It'll be good to feel like I'm balancing the two. But who knows what the LAST 4 weeks looks like. LoL. It's kind of fun not knowing what's going to be coming..you can just focus on the here and now. Which I totally suck at!

Tonight after the doctor's appointment Big T asked for Domino's pizza. He's been asking for a week so we are going to give in (okay, I'm really looking forward to it!) It's one of those things ya know? I would love to look like Jamie Eason but I also want to live my life in the same way I have been with just more healthy choices. All balance. Lots of balance!

Oh yeah I think of that all the time. I would love to be at 18% body fat but I don't think it is worth the sacrifice to get it. So I will just settle for 20% haha. Hmm I will have to go check out the second phase. I am still very torn on the cardio. Even tomorrow, I can't decide if I should do my online pilates workout or blast through some cardio in a last minute attempt to have a decent weigh in on Friday. haha I wonder if power walking is considered medium intensity. Probably not. It probably is more like low intensity. Hope everything goes well at the doctor!!

Great job this morning. Looked like a great workout. I love finding all this stuff online...wait I've said that a time or two haven't I?!

My silly butt signed up for a September challenge of doing a few extra exercises and healthy eating goals on top of the Jamie program. Not too intense just a lot of checking in and making sure I'm on here once daily to log everything. I probably shouldn't have given school, football, etc just started but I really liked the idea of the whole 'team' effort. Guess I'm reverting back to team sports with watching my big guy go at it on the football field. (Too cute by the way)

I haven't dove into exactly what she deems medium intensity but since I haven't been on a treadmill/stair mill etc in over a month...I'm sure just pushing start will seem intense to me!!!

The kids both have viral infection, plus little man has an ear infection. He slept from 730pm-630am which is WAY out of character from him. But he needed it. I feel so bad for him, not only is he going through a lot emotionally with my oldest going to school so he's without his best friend at the sitters but now he's not feeling well. So glad it's a long weekend. I need to cuddle those cuties!!

Yeah I am glad I didn't give in to the cardio beast and did the pilates workout. It was a nice change of pace and I expect to be sore tomorrow. I did just finish some power walking and climbing the stairs (10 flights) to get a little extra burn (I know old habits die hard!). I was so great to feel the burn walking up the steps but not feeling like I am going to die. It is amazing how much my fitness has improved.

Good for you on the September challenge though. If team effort works for you then you will do wonderfully!

I am sorry to hear about your boys  Hopefully they will feel better soon and your youngest will start to adjust without his buddy all day. Yes thank god for the three day weekend! haha

    jennieodwyer Posts: 1,036 Member
My arms are alittle sore but I think that is still some from the bodyrock workout as well (dive bombers haha). My inner thighs are seriously sore though from the pilates. I knew that one more was going to get them

Well Josie went for her 9 month check up today and was the same as she was at her 6 month appt. She was 75% height and 15-20% on weight (my little supermodel ) She has been having a lot of sleep issues lately so the doctor has recommended strict cry it out for three nights. We have tried it before and it was a disaster since she just cried for hours and we gave in after all that. But nothing else is helping so we are going to give it a shot. If there isn't an improvement in these 3 nights we are supposed to call the doctor back. So needless to say I am not looking forward to this weekend since she is as stubborn as a mule (just like her father).

Hope you have a nice long weekend!!!

Hope you had a nice weekend! I saw on your post that you are dropping your calories and eating exercise calories back. Did the experiment not pan out?

This week will be really interesting for me. I have been working out hard and eating well but I have cut out alot of cardio and do mostly resistance training. It raises my heart rate but it is still mostly for strength. I have been so hungry this whole week so we shall see if my shift in workouts has paid off. Or if I am just going to have a melt down

Good luck to you with the transition. It's getting harder and harder to find out what works.

I admit to losing my good eating yesterday for the Labor Day picnic. But I had made my decision to drop my calories and try to eat exercise back because I've actually gained a couple pounds. And my eating, for the most part, has been on track and so has my water intake. Plus the exercise program- I've completed as outlined. If I was feeling okay, I probably would let it go. But I feel heavier, if that makes sense. And my shorts felt tighter over the weekend. And of course not like a oohh my bicep is growing tight. Just a 'ugh' tight.

So I figured I'd go back to square one for a couple weeks and see what happens. I'm frustrated. Very frustrated. Part of me says maybe I'm stressing over it and that should back away from all the counting, logging, etc and just hit the gym and eat like a normal healthy person. But the other part of me says push harder, count more, try cleaner foods. BLAH BLAH BLAH. It's all I hear in my head! LoL.

I think my body has found a comfortable weight and is settling into that. So I'm working to shock it out of its cozy little area because MamaReese is NOT comfortable! LoL.

    Rant over.

I understand that. My body seems happy around 140 since I keep bouncing back up to that. I totally hear what you are saying though about deciding whether to step back and see what happens vs. push harder. I have had the same thoughts. Should I just be content and let the chips fall where they may or should I work even harder???? Part of me wonders why I stopped doing Lindsay's videos and did more weight training anyways. It was working why mess with it? haha well I guess the scale will be the judge right???

    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
Yeh I keep reading that after going at this for a while your body starts to settle and it takes a rocket science to get it moving again. LoL. I hear what your saying about the messing with what's working...but at the same time we like to shake thigns up don't we?! LoL. Maybe too much!

    Darn scale.

I'm half tempted to just wing it without MFP logs for a month and see what happens. Nuts right?! Once i get to cardio in Jamie eason's program, I may just do that. And just stick with MFP to support peeps and hang out.

It seems crazy to me because I can't do anything in moderation. Seriously I have a problem. But I have heard of 2 people who have broken their plateau that way. THey took like 2 weeks off of logging and they were able to lose weight. Now who knows if that is because they are eatting more and jump starting their metabolism or maybe they don't eat as much and that is why the weight is coming off. Or maybe it is just the lack of stress that helps. Who knows!!! I do know that the addition of all the resistance training is really making me hungry. It is crazy. Some days I still feel hungry right after I finish eating. Feed the beast right? haha I am sure once my body adjusts to all this it will die down (lets hope)!!!! I am adding in a ton more veggies to try to stave off the hunger for the time being.

I didsee your comment about going for volumetrics. Loved it. Yes, I do believe you are supposed to feed the beast! LoL. That and 'feed the muscle, and it will come back for more!' haha. We'll just keep plugging away and trying out a few new things. We'll get to where we want with a few gripes along the way and lots of sweat and carefully measured food! LoL.

I hit up a double workout today to make up for yesterday and it left me feeling awesome. Looking forward to tomorrow's leg workout. What's up your sleeve next?

Today I did some Hulu workouts. Actually three since they were short and all geared towards different body parts. The burn wasn't that high since there wasn't really much cardio and a lot was on the mat but I felt jelly like after some of it so I am hoping I feel some sweet soreness tomorrow  Tomorrow is rest day for me (and weigh day, fingers crossed) then on Saturday I have a 5k walk so that will probably be all of my exercise for that day. So Sunday I want to hit it hard again. I was thinking about doing a bodyrock workout but I prefer the ones that are times challenges since most of them are around 20-30 minutes for me which is perfect for me once I add in warmup and cool down. The 12 minute ones are nice but I feel like I need to go longer most days but at the same time I usually just want to die when they are done so I am torn. haha! I think I will just look for a time challenge one (I wish they have them searchable by that criteria) or do this other Body by Jake Hulu video that looks equally as intense as yesterday's workout. How is Miss Eason treating you?

That's awesome that you are finding such great resources. I watch my soap opera (terrible I know!) on Hulu but never thought to look for workouts. I'll have to check that out. September 24th is supposed to be the end of my time at the gym, but I'm hoping to atleast extend it to the end of the Jamie Eason program so I can finish that completely. The program is going well and I really like it.

I have to tell you this because I thought of you while grocery shopping (creepy?!) I was picking up our weekly groceries and I thought...you know what all this 'clean' eating is frustrating me, I spend way more time in the kitchen than I want to, and I am frustrated so I need a change of pace to settle me down for a bit. What did I purchase? Lean Cuisines! I thought you know what...clean eating is awesome for people and I can still manage it some of the time but sometimes I want to not worry constantly about food. I want to pop something in the microwave, cook the kids up a nice dinner, and sit down and enjoy them. Time flies and there's got to be a balance between being healthy and being obsessive. I think I've just google'd myself into a conundrum. So I'm going to back to my 'roots' and watching what I eat but not worry so much!!

Nice I like it  Yes I am proof that you can lose weight and not eat that clean. I know it is not great for me but whatever, it works for me. When I do cook I generally cook cleanly (veggies and grilled/baked meats) but I don't have the time or desire to do that all the time. I also like Diet sodas. gasp!!! I know haha.
  • mamareese
    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
Oh girl, I TOTALLY didn't mean that in a bad way at all. I meant that finding balance between everything is what's important. I drink Diet Soda, and I love oreos. LoL. Oh, and I totally don't count the gum or jolly ranchers I have while at work. I hope I didn't offend you!
  • jennieodwyer
    jennieodwyer Posts: 1,036 Member
Oh no! I wasn't offended. It is nice to be thought of  Well today was definately a hard earned loss. I kicked butt with working out and getting my eatting under control and it seems to have paid off so now I know that I just have to be more careful (especially on the weekends). Speaking of, I am not so much looking forward to this weekend for eating solely because I have several lunch/dinner things out that can seriously derail me. Sometimes it is just easier to stay home but I have to keep telling myself I can't be antisocial just because I am dieting. So I will just do my best. It is weird though. After every loss (especially if it is big) I always have the paranoia that it will come right back the next week and I don't want to lose all the hard work I put in the week before. It does make you just not want to eat sometimes. haha
  • mamareese
    mamareese Posts: 1,573 Member
Absolutely. The more we get into the school year the more things we starting attending. Typically we are your anti social stay at home and hang out family. but with DH coaching and Talan playing football. We are already running somewhere multiple times a week. I can only imagine how difficult it will get when we get into the attending 'adult events' related to the social networking part of Dan's coaching. Oh the joys!

It is definitely easier at home. I can make the kids something nutritious but still kid friendly, make myself something different without it seeming like a huge undertaking. Going out however is another story. 2 active kids and a dinner out isn't always feasible. Sometimes drive thrus just have to happen. Life right?!

I did get a pound off from the few I've gained back over the past few weeks. Going to wait to log it though since it is TOM and I don't like weighing in officially during that time.

Are you excited for Halloween? My days of picking my kids costumes are OVER! My 2 year old grabbed a magazine and proceeded to tell me 'Mama I be powranja!' (aka Power Ranger) It flies...too fast!
  • jennieodwyer
    jennieodwyer Posts: 1,036 Member
Thats great that you lost that pound!! Go Jamie Eason

I am excited about Halloween!! This is Josie's first!!!! We are actually having a costume party to be able to dress the kiddies up and show them off  We have 2 costumes actually (piglet and cowgirl). I think she will be a cowgirl (my choice) for my party and then piglet (my husband's choice for actual Halloween). I can't believe they already know what they want to be at 2!!! That means I only get one more year to pick our her costumes!!

Wow Power Rangers. I didn't know those were still around! I remember they were popular when I was in high school. Are they making a comeback like the Smurfs??

I came across this website and wanted to pass it along. It is very much like bodyrock tv but she has kettlebell workouts. I know how you like your kettlebell

Down with a bug, the kids had it back and forth between the two of them last week...and apparently decided to share. Luckily I had some chix brother and egg noodles to make a light soup because that's about all that I can get down. Oh the joys. LoL. My oldest is a sweetheart though, he 'takes care of Mommy'

Power Rangers are the $1.00 movies at our local movie store, so the kids ALWAYS pick them...why they still have costumes out for them...I'll never know!!

Nice compromise on Josie's Halloween costume. I'm sure she'll look absolutely adorable in both!!

Thanks for the link too...I do love a kettle bell and have only been putting off using it lately because i need a heavier one and said I wouldn't buy anything new for a while...I think it's been a while though! LoL.

I've got to look over my JE live. I can't remember if this week starts the cardio or not. If not, i have 1 more week of 5 day workouts of only liting. I definitely don't mind NOT doing cardio but with a great lifting program laid out, I think her adding the cardio back in should help. Looking forward to it.

Have you tried anything on the myohmytv.com? I miss bodyrocks. I may have to sneak one in next week. Since my challenge team disbanded over the weekend. :-)
