Have you switched up your diet at all or is the loss from the change in exercise from Insanity to Lindsay??0
-
My diet didn't really change (still 1600 base + exercise calories). I think Insanity was just too much for my body to keep up with. I felt like I was struggling to eat all the calories I needed to eat to be able to lose weight effectively. Since I stopped Insanity I have lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. I only lost 9 pounds in 9 weeks with Insanity. I still am glad I finished Insanity but it seems like the less intense workout regime is better for my weight loss.
Ok so today was Shed 5 Fast and I liked it. There were some kickboxing combos that I still need to get the hang of because I kept missing the cues but overall it was a nice fill body toning workout with a decent burn. Lots of squats and I was seriously humbled by the pushup/ side plank combo she had us do. There are 2 workouts on this DVD so that is nice to have something to progress to but it certainly wasn't easy. I had some extra time today so I threw in the old school Winsor Pilates Abs DVD and let me tell you! That was no joke. I am going to be feeling that tomorrow!!! Just cardio with alittle more abs tomorrow so that will be nice as well. :laugh:0 -
Sounds like you are still enjoying the program. That's awesome. I had a heck of a time getting my mind in the workouts today. Jumped around 2 different DVDs, then through in some kettlebell and a few exercise ball routines. I feel the 'funk' for sure. Gotta kick it out the door though and get at it. I'm pretty sure whatever weight I lost the past couple of weeks, I've put back on. Completely my own doing. But I know what I need to do. Just gotta do it. I ended up taking a rest day on Sunday even though I ate terrible. Just felt like I was already down and needed to just give in and go at it today. Unfortunately, today wasn't a great workout so I may have to go at it again tonight. We'll see. My body is sore from all the housework I did over the weekend. Even if my body doesn't look nice in a bikini this summer...my house will look smashing. LoL.0
-
Haha! I like that. If you can't have it all you will have a wonderful house! I wish I could say that. I dream about a new house. One day, hopefully soon. With a pool
Today was the same Bootcamp workout I did last week with 1 core and 2 toning intervals. I upped the weight on the second interval to 12 pounders so I am thinking I should be sore tomorrow.
I actually also took a rest day yesterday. There are three rest days this week in the program so I switched the Thursday rest day for yesterday since I was pretty sore and just wanted to lay around with the baby all day. It was great  Hopefully the scale will not punish me on Friday :happy:0 -
Been a total slacker on posting anywhere this week.
I like the rest day just to chill with the kids. Makes it a perfect rest day!!!!
I've got Lindsay in the morning. I incorporated some of her moves while 'resting' for my strength training sets. (I have a terrible time just standing around aimlessly while strength training so I end up either doing ab work or popping in the mat room to kick out some type of other moves to keep my HR up)
I'm probably going to end up getting a couple more DVDs to add to my collection sooner than later with the gym membership coming to an end. I'd love to go all out and purchase a new program but the whole point of canceling the gym membership is to 'save' money so throwing a bunch out on a program won't be much of a help! I have 30 Day Shred, 6 week 6 pack, JM's Kettle bell, Lindsay's Boot camp, and then when I get them returned to me Insanity (of course!) and p90x so if I just grab one more until I get those 2 programs back- I should be fine. Since I'm going to need to buy some heavier weights soon too. Oh...the joys of progressing. LoL.0 -
Oh I have been bad about posting as well (as you can tell)! I generally don't post much on the weekends at all either. Yeah I get what you mean about no wanting to spend more money on DVDs. I am still tempted to try the p90x knockoff though. How can you beat $20 or $16 (if you use a coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond)? Still trucking along. I will be better about posting next week I promise  Weigh day was kind to me as well. Just 2 more pounds until my original goal of 145 but clearly I still need to adjust my goals a little :laugh:0
-
Great job on the loss. You are kickin' butt. I've heard good things on here about the P90x knock off. I keep asking DH about when we will be getting p90x back. I won't be lending things out after this - it only makes me want to do that program more. I've been doing some of the bodyrock.tv work outs lately, more of the challenges but it's been great since they are free. Can't pass that up!! Going to keep chugging along with this plan. My eating habits on the weekend haven't been the greatest especially with drinking water so I've got to get back on track. We are going to an amusement park on Saturday (MY BIRTHDAY!) so I need to behave this week so I can rock my swimsuit at the water park. LoL.0
-
Happy Birthday!! Yeah I was bad over the weekend and from the looks of things now I think I am going to be up alittle on the scale this week  Oh well. That is just how it goes I guess. I have been wanting to try the bodyrock workouts but to be honest they intimidate the crap out of me. haha. I think my body is starting to adapt to the workout routine since my burns have gotten lower in the last week but thats ok because next week we start the second month of the program and the workouts get longer and harder! I am hoping the results keep coming but realistically I know I will have to reach a plateau. It was cool though, I put on some jeans that I couldn't fit into for the past 3 years and they actually were so big in me I could take them off without unbuttoning them Now I just have to find jeans to wear in the photo shoot I have for Josie next week. It is so hard to find jeans this time of year which is ridiculious since jeans are a year round staple!!!0
-
Thanks for the Happy Birthday.
The bodyrock workouts can be intimidating so I peruse around until I find one that doesn't look like it could kill me!! :ohwell: Sometimes she just does things that only a tiny thing like her could do (or atleast I convince myself of as much!!) but other times I'm like okay those 3 moves were in Insanity so I can totally give it a go. It's usually alot slower and a lot less graceful but it gives me a change up.
Congrats on the jeans~ that's awesome! You gotta love a little NSV to keep you motivated. And you are correct- jeans ARE a year round staple! Have fun with the photo shoot! That sounds like fun! And I'm sure you'll find a great pair to rock!!0 -
Yes tomorrow will be my first solo clothes shopping trip with the little one to try to find work pants and jeans. For some reason it has become harder and harder to find work pants in the summer. It is all capris which I am not a fan of for work (I guess I am too used to wearing suits). Wish me luck!!!
Oh and I was very pleased that I didn't gain this week. Too many food and booze sins. Must do better this week and maybe I will be lucky and hit my original goal :laugh:0 -
How did the trip go? Did you get the photo shoot done too?
I celebrated a little too much with food yesterday...Don't I keep saying Bad weekend, get moving on Monday! You'd think I'd learn. But I don't...oh, fiddlesticks!! I am not speaking to my scale until at least Friday.
Oh, I should probably mention Lindsay Brin since it is the title of the thread!! LoL. Umm...I started her work out today but she just couldn't pep me up enough to get moving for it. So I hit the stair master instead. It was one of those 'I'm over it' days so I'll try again later!!0 -
Haha! Yeah I have those days. Thankfully those days are usually the cardio days where I can just jump on the elliptical and zone out.
Well the shopping trip was good. I totally made a rookie mistake though. She is so happy as long as I am pushing her around but the minute we stop she gets fussy. Well that is fine for when I am looking in the stores because I just keep pushing her back and forth. It is an issue however when I am trying on like 15 different things. I should have brought a toy to occupy her for dressing room time. I didn't really think about it since she can't be trusted with her toys while we are moving in the stroller (since she is in that throw everything on the floor phase) and she usually isn't interested in the toy when we are moving. She was just very cranky that we were in this little room together with nothing to look at and no movement. I ended up letting her play with a plastic hanger and she will thrilled to death so that was clearly my mistake. Other than that she was a champ! Thank god for handicapped bathrooms and dressing rooms! It made my life so much easier
I was able to find jeans thankfully (at the jean outlet no less) so I will be wearing those in the 100 degree heat for our pictures (hey what I say I would rather look good than be confortable) Our pictures are this Saturday. It is alittle nerve wracking because the photographer wanted us to meet at the location (arboretum) right when they opened to avoid crowds, get good lighting and try to stay cool. Well that is fine except for she normally eats right at the time we are meeting (a bottle). Eating in a new place would be fine for most people but my kid is a total handful when it comes to eating. She gets distracted and doesn't want to eat then gets in a horrible fussy mood because she is hungry. We are going to give it a shot and hope for the best. Our photos with the Easter bunny was a total fail and that was our last attempt at a professional photo shoot so we are hoping this goes better. My mom is coming to help which can be a good or bad thing since it is nice to have an extra baby wrangler but when things go south it can lead to a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation. So I am just hoping all goes well. Hey at least I have jeans
Today was the beginning of month 2 for me. It was a bootcamp workout with warm up, 2 core intervals, 2 toning intervals and 1 cardio interval in between, then cool down. It was nice. I thought it was be worse since I was thinking it was going to be 3 toning workouts but it was set out really well with the cardio in the center. I ended up with a nice burn too so I was pleased. Getting ready to see some month 2 results!!! :happy:0 -
Ah the joys of shopping with the kids. I can relate. We had 2 items to pick up before the amusement park (a shelf for our bathroom and a new swim suit for Mommy). How bad can it go right?! Bad enough with one of your children is going through the terrible twos. I won't even get into it but trust me...rookie or no rookie...shopping with kids can be tough. Bravo for accomplishing as much as you did!! FAMILY bathrooms are my favorite thing, if a store has them...I'm more apt to shop there just because of that. The kids can move around and I don't have to worry about them opening the door while Mommy goes potty. LoL.
I'm not sure which is requires more tactical planning...shopping or photo shoots?!?!? Both can require a lot of planning that in the end come down to whether or not the kiddo/kiddos are willing participants! I do wish you luck and I'm sure your pictures will turn out beautifully! And you'll look like a HOT mama in those jeans!!
The program seems to be treating you well still. You are rockin' those losses -congrats!! I just picked up a new routine that I'm going to stick with and see how that goes. On the cardio days, I may switch up to whatever I feel since I get bored quickly lately!! We'll see...all we can do is keep pushing forward!!0 -
Haha I dread the day when Josie can open the bathroom door herself  She is my little overlord already. I don't think I could take any kid bathingsuit shopping. It wouldn't be good for either of us. :noway: As for the photo shoot, I am just hoping for the best. Random side note, I am 1.6 pounds away from my original goal. It would be AWESOME if I could down to that this Sat for my shoot. It is possible since I have pulled out 2 pound weight losses before but you know they always seem to happen when you least expect it (not when you really want it) This week has been up and down so its really anybody's guess what will be on the scale on Friday.
I really like this program just because of the flexibility. I like that I get 2 rest days so I can sort of work my schedule around it. Like last night we had a rough time getting the overlord to sleep so I ended up sleeping in. I didn't feel guilty at all since it was a cardio day and I just did my old lady walking for an hour instead of the eliptical for 40 minutes. I like to have structure but also be able to make my own decisions within that. Tomorrow is the S5F DVD again with some abs. My inner thighs were sore from yesterday's workout. Can't figure that out. Can't wait to hear about your new program!0 -
2 rest days rock...especially when you are still seeing awesome results! No doubt about that!!
This morning was funny, because like I mentioned on the opening wall on MFP, the kids and I did 'runs' through the field. With my 4 year old, we get moving with little man, it's more of a letting him win just to see him do the "I weeen" (his version of win) dance! I laughed. We got down and I had a little time so I pulled out some of the Fit test moves from Insanity to get my HR moving...they were doing awesome version of those moves. I had to laugh. I might not have burned a whole lot from exercise but I got a burn in laughing.
I decided to start the new program Monday. I'm supposed to be getting my butt moving to go through some moves with DH today but I'm a little behind on that! So we'll see...I like what I was doing strength training wise...but I'm looking forward to experimenting more with lifting. I still get that embarrassed feeling when there's a bunch of guys in there but at 5am the only guy in there is real nice and keeps to himself- so it should go fine. The program has me doing strength 3 times a week (with a short cardio after) and then 2 straight cardio days. So I'll have to rest days. I'm good with that. It's hard enough to get up in the morning now that the kids are staying up later with summer (Mom, the moon isn't even out yet!! is what I hear when I say 830 bedtime!). But we'll see...can always keep mixing it up as long as we keep moving!!!0 -
Sounds like fun!! I take it your weight training program is with free weights instead of machines? Yeah I was never a fan of the guys that acted like they owned the place and stared at you like you are a freak show when you step on the mat. Most of the time those guys have horrible form anyways
What cardio are you doing are you cardio days? Today was a rest day. I actually have 2 in a row this week (today and tomorrow) which seems odd to me but I will not question it since this week was rough with the baby not wanting to go to sleep at night. I am still going to do my walking to get some burn in but other than that its rest time!
So are you set with your two kids or do you think you will have more? I always was willing to have three but now I think we may not even have number 2! haha! Some nights when we are struggling with Josie I think I am sending my husband to be snipped the very next day! :laugh:0 -
You crack me up. LoL. Sending him to be snipped...love it.
Cardio wise- I had been relying on the stair master the past week and I will today too. Did a couple bodyrocks too which tend to be interval type work outs. But the plan I have suggested stationary bike and elliptical. We'll see...I haven't ever really given either of those two a shot and it'll be something different so if my knees can handle it...I'll give it a whirl. I probably will rotate the stair master in though too because DH swears that will help with some of my 'problem areas' that I complain about (aka the junk in my trunk!!)
We are definitely set with two!! Love them to pieces but we know that two is what we can safely manage!! DH originally only wanted one after we had Talan...and then yeh- #2 snuck up on us and Tarren completed our family. So we are just going with the flow now of trying to wrangle the terrible 2's mixed with the "'I'm more independent than my age dictates" 4 year old! Thankfully the sweet as sugar and love me to pieces days out number the others!!
I'd tell you that the night sleeping thing gets better...and though it does, it comes and goes!! Now that Tarren is potty trained he wakes up to go to the bathroom and assumes since he woke up for that, it must be time to get up!! But in two more weeks it'll be something else- Gotta love it!!
Enjoy your rest day. And that awesome burn you get from your walks!!! I planned a late workout which always throws me off (even though I know it's good for us to switch things up!)- it's actually sunny and nice outside and all I can think it...wouldn't a few hours at the park be more fun?!?!?0 -
Forgot to ask: How was the Shed 5 DVD? Is that a new one to the month 2? I forget...I looked at that one when I was looking at home workouts. I've got until the end of July before my gym membership is up (thankfully, DH has been working at the gym 1 day a week to offset our membership but that ends after summer) So it gives me more time to choose carefully with what I want to do/get next.0
-
Hmm.... I think I may have this... I'm going to have to check!
----No, I was mistaken. I have Slim in 60 -
Just had to post on here another congrats! You are killing the losses! ! Awesome job Jennie!! :drinker:0
-
Thanks!! I am pleased but I think this week's weight loss is related to stress. Between struggling with Josie (ie - completely failing at the cry it out method - I never thought a kid could cry for over 2 hours and still not go to sleep!!) and learning that my husband's original unemployment is running out, my nerves are sort of shot this week. Whenever I get really anxious, I have no appetite. I practically have to force feed myself which is why I wasn't eating all my exercise calories back this week. Oh well I am not going to complain because I know as soon as I start feeling better my appetite comes back in full force so I should enjoy it now
I love the elliptical because there is no bouncing involved like running. It is better for the knees but I like it for the boobs. When you crank up the incline and get a little resistance going you can really feel that all over the butt/thigh area.
I have 1 more workout on the S5F DVD before I start the second workout on the DVD. I am anxious to try it but want to follow the program so one more level one workout then I am on to level 2 I know there are heavy weights in level 2 since she has them out but doesn't use them in level one so I am curious about that. I think it might kick my butt. So far the bootcamp is still my favorite just because of all the options but this level 2 workout might be it for me I am now so over DVDs that only have one workout on them. I am so spoiled by these DVDs and Jillian Michaels. Does JM's 6 pack workout DVD have more than one workout like the 30DS?
Thanks again! Keep pushing :happy:0 -
Stress can do that to a girl!! Even a girl who earns her exercise calories like a champ! Hopefully things will start settling down for you!!
I hope to experience that 'feeling in the butt/thigh' area starting next week with the new program. I need a little more toning in that area for sure. So I'll experiment and see where it gets me. If I end up having to give up the gym membership, I'll really miss the variety that I have at the gym. I know it's all completely possible to accomplish at home (see-your results!! ) , I just appreciate that change of place but the getting out and going to the gym feeling. Whatever comes, I'm up for the challenge!!
JM's 6 week 6 pack has 2 levels on it. I like them both but favor level 2 just because I like some of the movements. I alternate to make sure I'm getting in a varied workout. But level 2 is def. my favorite. Just like on Lindsay's Boot camp- those cardio ones with the kickboxing type moves- those are my favorite. I like to throw a good punch/kick combo now and then!!
I was glad to see the scale move again. I have only been stuck on 154 for 2 weeks (granted some of it was due to bday weekend) but it felt good to get down a little bit. DH is up a few more lbs too so it's a pleasant exchange when we compare our weights now- considering when we got married I actually weighed more than his (pre-workouts) skinny @$$!!! :laugh:0 -
Thats awesome that you are seeing the scale go down!! Especially after a birthday celebration!! I think would have developed a complex if I was heavier than my husband. I like the big men though, they make me look small  Any fun plans for the 4th?0
-
Yeh, I've always had a problem with the 'lean' men and thus when I packed on the pounds...it did NOTHING to help me look lean!! And I definitely didn't mention my weight to him until AFTER it came off. LoL. There was enough of a complex without him knowing!!
We are knocking out the to do lists (well I am...he's been invited to every possible graduation party for the kids he coaches so he seems to be getting out of a lot of work!!) I've got paint all over me, Tarren (2 yr old) has it all over his stomach since he 'tried' helping. And now it's time to see how this all is going to come off without scrubbing his skin off!!!!
We do the fire works on Monday with FIL. And a family BBQ. But other than that, it's work work work! You know how it goes! I finish the porch, means I can start the pavers, I finish the pavers means I can put up the swing...and so it goes. It actually feel rather rewarding since these last few projects haven't resulted in huge dents in my check book...it feels good to get it done and not have to worry about it.
The kids are dying to go see Transformers so hopefully we'll do that this weekend as well. I don't go back to work until Wednesday so there's time.
Travel in the forecast for you? Or are you the host of the BBQ?!0 -
Wow I are so glad we are done (for the most part) working on our old house. Just in time to sell it right? We are actually just headed to my parents (half hour drive) for some swimming and lunch. No fireworks for us though since we are still working really hard with Josie on her night time routine. She was a total champ for her pictures yesterday. But it was hilarious. I worked so hard trying to look good for our pics (they were mostly just her but I wanted to squeeze in a few with the two of us) and it all went to crap because it was SO hot and SO humid. I was basically soaked in sweat in like 10 minutes so hopefully the first few they got were worth it. No big deal though since Josie was a champ and I think we got some really cute ones. Have a happy 4th!0
-
*saunters back in after a hiatus*
Sooo awesome that Josie did well for the pictures! I'm sure you will get some good ones. Isn't that always the way...you think you know what will go wrong (i.e. a little one who isn't in the mood for photos) and in the end it's something completely different (hot & humid!) that throws you off. I'm sure you look like a total hot mama in them though! How can you not be glowing with a little princess by your side and having worked as hard as you have the past few months! I'm sure they'll look fabulous!!
I had to take a few days off. Between trying to go full bore on this MFP journey, work, my little hellions giving me a run for my money, all the to do lists, and stress over $$. I just needed a few days to slow it down. We did lots of house things but at a pace that was comfortable. Definitely didn't accomplish everything I wanted to but enjoyed the few days off from work with the kids and the sunshine. I'm here now though!!
I've got to get back to the Lindsay DVDs. I keep forgetting my gym bag in the morning and that's where I keep all my DVDs. Haven't seen her or JM in a while!! LoL. I'm sure they miss me as much as I miss them!!0 -
Haha I too am just now sauntering back in  Josie teething and being up half the night is throwing me for a loop!! I am getting too lax on my eating and working out so I am not seeing good things on the scale. I am hoping I can kick it back into gear the next few days and pull out a loss on Friday.
Ok on Saturday the workout was the bootcamp DVD with 2 body resistance workouts and plyometrics. Wow!! It was seriously the hardest workout I have ever done with her. The plyometrics were nothing to write home about because it actually had less jumping that other sections and actually included weights. Random I know. But after all those sections my arms were shaking and my legs were jello! So many different kinds of push ups and they were slow slow pushups!! I liked it
Still waiting to see the pictures of Josie but I know they turned out well. I thankfully were not in too many since I was the sweaty beast :laugh:0 -
That workout sounds intense. I see 'plyo' and automatically revert back to college volleyball days and think those giant box things you'd jump up and off on relentless. But there's so much variety with plyo. Sounds great though, especially if it left you feeling like Jello!! Gotta love that...and hate it all at the same time.
I did Pure Cardio this morning but hope to get in Lindsay this evening. The kids haven't seen DH since yesterday morning so I'm going to 'let him' enjoy bed time routine so I can get in an extra workout. That is if work doesn't drain me first!!:frown:
I keep remembering how excited I was to get her DVD and how unfair I've been to Ms. Brin in trying to allow her to get me back to pre baby body (okay, pre-marriage body!!) so I need to give her a go more often. I've come to terms with the fact I still need to drop some more weight in order to even start imagining seeing 'abs'!! Oh the triumphs and trials of this journey!!:huh:0 -
I know! I feel the same way. Once I got to my original goal I realized that my tummy was still to pudgy to see abs or make the extra skin look any better. You know at first was was afraid her workouts where going to be too wussy for me and some are alittle light for me but others and especially her double workouts (still under an hour) kick my butt hard!! These last two weeks of the program are serious! I thought the beginning of month 2 was going to be hard it was nothing since you basically start doubling the workouts in the last two weeks. Did you know she just had her 3 baby and has been posting her recovery pics?
You are a champ going back to Insanity. At first I missed it but then I got over it :laugh:0 -
I knew she was pregnant. She's a trooper for posting those. I had to take down my Insanity 60 days after a few days - let alone those type of pics!! :noway:
I definitely don't think I'm amp'd enough about Insanity right now to go back to the full program but the cardio of it is much better for me. I just can't stick out elliptical or stair stepper - my mind isn't in it. I thought about Turbo Fire and Chaleen Extreme. But Turbo Fire doesn't look like something I could get into either. I love some good music but am not the type of person who can get into moving to the beat so to speak. It looks fun but like Zumba wouldn't be something I could see myself working with long. And the Chaleen Extreme seems a little like p90x would I already have. I just need to stick with what I have. And rotate those out as I get bored with one. Between Brin, JM, p90x, and Insanity -it's not like I don't have choices!!
Tonight I'm supposed to have Cardio abs but I'm going to do 2 of Brin's core instead. I know Shaun T has that 'cardio' in there in the beginning but with doing bodyrock this morning I think I'm good with just laying on the mat and focusing on abs!!0
