Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

Hmmm, I guess raising 4 children is my biggest ongoing 'accomplishment'. Though being a parent never ends and the intangible accomplishments are measured in moments of loving connections, gentle guidance, creating fond memories and lasting family ties. With unending opportunities for me to stretch and to practise patience, empathy, optimism, and being a mom, requires the very best of me and my deepest commitment to help them to realize their vast potential. And frankly, not burden their adulthood too badly by my flaws and weaknesses, that they get to experience throughout their childhood!

I would have to say my son is my biggest accomplishment but I guess we won't know for sure until he is an adult.

Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

My answer: I think finally accepting myself for who I am and knowing that although I have shortcomings it doesn't make me worthless or useless or unlovable. It was a battle for me for a long time and I still have a way to go before I can finally say that I like myself but baby steps hey!?

Well done everyone on some fantastic achievements, you are all inspirational!

    Hi Everyone!!!

Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

My biggest accomplishment was moving to England when I was 14. I didn't speak English at all, and had to start school not being able to speak to everyone. I got through it though, and went on to get top marks in my English GCSE :o)

    Looking forward to this challange!!

    Lisa

That is so awesome! I can't imagine moving to a different country in which I did not speak the language at all. I was lucky enough to do some charity work in Puerto Rico, but I spoke some Spanish and many of the people there spoke English. What a great accompishment for you!!

Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

I'd say, probably getting my Master's Degree. Went back to school after having been out of college for over 10 years. I finished up when I was 8 months pregnant.

That's awesome! I just recently graduated with an Associate of Applied Arts Degree in business, and am hoping to open a photography studio, but if for some reason those plans don't work out, I would like to go back and go a little further in business! And to do that while pregnant is so amazing!!

Welcome to all the new diamonds and our returning diamonds.

Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

I would have to say that is it was going back to school for my Master's while juggling the needs of three children, my husband, and a FT job. It was hard but I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I was done!

I think it's so amazing when people decide to go back to school even though they have so many other things going on in their life! Congratulations on this accomplishment!!

Like many on here - it's pretty much a toss-up between my daughter (just turned 18) and going back and completing my master's before 40!

Two wonderful accomplishments!! Congratulations on getting you masters!!

Monday's Question of the Day: Losing weight is a major accomplishment. What has been your biggest accomplishment in life prior to your weight loss?

Well, my 3 boys are my biggest accomplishment, especially the years I was a single mom to the oldest 2....and I am extremely proud of the fact that my oldest son, who has a slight intellectual disability, was raised in a home where he was taught that everyone has challenges they must overcome and that he is no different from anyone else.

What a wonderful lesson you were able to teach your sons. 3 amazing accomplishments!

Ok. I don't know how to quote just the QOTD. Oops. lol. My biggest accomplishment has to be a few things, but the one I am most proud of is getting back in shape. Although I am not quit there I have certainly jumped a major hurdle in my life. Still have about 10-15lbs to go. And in doing so I have encouraged myself to become a personal trainer/nutrtionist. I have been doing an online certification and should be done in a couple of months. I can't wait to be able to do it full time.

That is so great!! Keep up all of the amazing work and you will get there before you know it! :)

Tuesday QOTD: what are the most beautiful place you've visited ?

Oooh difficult one, there are so many beautiful places in the world - Niagra falls because of the sheer magnitude of them, Las Vegas because there is no where else like it on earth, the Swiss Alps in winter with the sun sparkling on the snow, the New Forest in the UK as there is nothing like seeing wild horses galloping across open land, the area around Uluru in Australia because of the sheer amount of nothing but red parched earth for thousands of square km but for me the most beautiful sight was seeing Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House for the first time after emigrating and knowing this beautiful city was our home. I think it was more about the whole emotional experience making it such a beautiful moment rather than the architecture being outstanding but it still gets me whenever we venture into the city and I feel the same.

Can't wait to read some more answers - we need some new destinations for holidays!

what are the most beautiful place you've visited ?

The most beautiful place I have ever visited was 2 years ago when I went back home to Germany. My mother had recently passed and I needed to go back to take care of business. I was born in Germany, but moved to the US when I was 5. I remember everything. The little tiny house I spent the first 5 years of my life in. My Oma and Opa's home. My uncle built a house just across the street and me and my 2 girls stayed there. But I would always get caught by him looking across the way. So he asked me if I would like to go over. My heart jumped to the chance. He told me that it is not like I remembered. It was old and worn down. I didn't care because I just wanted to go anyhow. So as we walked across the street. My memories began to race back to all the times I saw Oma working in her little garden in front of the house and when the door opened, I could smell the cakes baking in the wood fire oven. The banister had years of oil build up from everyones hand as they made the pivot to take the first step. The kitchen was so small and the corner where the table was was exactly the same as the last time I ate there. I could imagine the foods that graced the table top and all the nights of lingering there with the laughter of my family. When we went upstairs I welled up in tears to see the hidden door to the room my Opa made to hide the Jewish family in during WWII. I turned to see another door and touch the same hardware that was still there to open the room of my grand parents. The beautiful sheer panels were not there anymore of course, but that day God let the sun shine so bright in that room. The wall paper just as I recalled. I stood there for a long time. Remembering all the moments I danced for my Oma while she lay sick in her bed. Singing to her. Talking to her. Ahhhh! That was a beautiful day in a beautiful place.

what are the most beautiful place you've visited ?

It would have to be the pavillion gardens in Buxton, Derbyshire, Uk. I fell in love with them when I first saw them at the age of 10 and was able to get married in them on the bandstand on a beautiful sunny day.

For me, it has to be Austria. My uncle lives there and we used to go over every year when I was younger. Austria is known for being a great place to go skiing, but my favourite time has always been to go in the summer. It's breathtakingly beutiful, and I can just sit and stare at the mountains forever. I had to take a train across the country a couple years back, and I never wanted to get off as I loved just sitting and looking at the beautiful views :o)

    QOTD Tuesday:

What is the most beautiful place you've visited ?

Great question Kathy! I have been so fortunate to visit a lot of beautiful places. I was raised in California, and having done a lot of traveling, but I still am awed by our coastline, our city line, and our lovely mountains.

The place that really stands out for me is Turkey, particularly the city on Antalaya. The water looks completely unreal and makes an amazing backdrop to a city that is both modern and as old as time. It is also impeccably clean, like something out of a dream.

I also love the vineyards and lavender fields of southern France, the markets and street culture of Madrid, the quaintness of Cuernavaca, Mexico, and the grit and flashiness of New York City. I really want to visit India.

    QOTD ( Tuesday Jun 21)

what are the most beautiful place you've visited ?

I've not done tons of travel, but surprisingly (to me) we found the most beautiful place when we visited central Tennessee. We visited the Cumberland Plateau and visited this amazing state park that was off the beaten bath called Fall Creek Falls. The falls were down this rugged mountain path and were just amazing once we got there!

QOTD Tuesday: What is the most beautiful place you've visited ?

Unfortunately I haven't traveled outside of the US, yet. But one of the most beautiful places I've visited is Mackinac Island, Michigan. The view of the lake is amazing and when all of the lilacs are in bloom, I just love it.

I also love the mountain views in Aspen, CO.

QOTD Tuesday: What is the most beautiful place you've visited ?

I haven't had the opportunity to travel too much. So for now, the most beautiful place I have visited would have to be Grand Marias, MN. It is such a quiet and relaxing place. The fall colors up there would have to be the best!
