diet soda is HORRIBLE

Yes, we all will die someday, but it please be aware that "diet" soda will hinder your wieghtloss efforts. The body does not know how to break it down and it will still act as if it is sugar in your body. I challlenge anybody to give up diet soda and watch their body drop 5 lbs within a couple weeks just by that change.
i would love to take that challenge.. i need support though cause i'm addicted to diet coke... )0 -
Yeah, you may not get cancer but it's been studied to increase diabetes (don't know how much I believe that because I think the increase in diabetes is sugar being in EVERYTHING in American food)... but, you know, if you like ingesting chlorine and something that was created through inventing pesticide, go for it. Splenda is marketed towards people with diabetes and in fact, it's AWFUL for them. It's not a no calorie sweetener.0

I was planning to never die. This changes everything.

You ingest chorine anytime you eat anything with salt in it :noway:0 -
Diet soda is the #1 killer in America, AND WE WON'T EVEN ADMIT IT!
Look at all these articles linking it to so many horrible diseases.

You're all going to die if you keep drinking this crap!

"This study has major flaws and should not change anyone's diet soda consumption," said ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor Dr. Richard Besser.
THANK YOU! No study can PROVE anything...what they can do is offer evidence towards something to reject the null hypothesis. MANY studies are needed all with the same results in order to be able to generalize anything to the general public. And yes,...there will always be those outliers (exceptional cases) but people go nuts over minor things!
As someone said earlier too...all things in moderation0 -

You know all sarcasm aside I know for fact that you could interchange this almost everything in the average american diet! I used to be a big time pop addict in my teen years! The only reason I never drank diet soda is the aspartame. Fear mongering won't change anybody and certainly doesn't make you better than the diet pop drinkers.0 -
I mix mine with Captain Morgan's, that crosses out any of the bad stuff in it! :drinker:0

The sun will eventually go supernova and kill us all. I say we move or ban the sun.0

It's CHLORINE, for one, and two, that's sodium CHLORIDE. Chemistry, learn it. Different things. ChloRINE when ingested is a carcinogen, no different than smoking a cigarette. Specifically, it's been used in poisonous gases (read: bombs).
Not gonna argue chemistry here but the fact is that sucralose/Splenda and all of these artificial faux sweeteners are NOT no calorie and that's why the person who said about cutting it out of your diet can make a difference. This is because in a cup of the artificial sweetener, there's about 100 calories. Sure, in a can of soda there wouldn't be a cup of fake sugar, BUT when you drink multiple diet sodas per day and add in the "sugar free" jello and "sugar free" canned fruits and "sugar free" candy... it can easily add up to a cup. Those dieting people don't add in those 100 calories, at least I wouldn't think they would because they think it's diet! So it fudges up your daily calorie intake.0 -

i think ill just stick to grape rum anyways - ill skip the diet sprite and just shoot it straight outta the bottle!! things will definitely get more interesting in my world then anyways0

I am pretty sure that I'm going to die whether or not I drink diet soda ;-) If the PROVEN risks of smoking don't keep me from smoking then the POSSIBLE risks of drinking diet soda probably aren't going to scare me into not drinking diet soda. Just sayin' none of us are going to live forever.0

I don't know why you're all laughing, diet drinks are a serious issue over here. They're the number one cause of alcoholism, drug abuse, and knife crime in this country. The diet pepsi vs. diet coke gang wars have become so extreme that people are too scared to leave their houses for fear of being caught in the crossfire.0

Waiting for my pal Schwiggity to chime in on this one lol0

There is a study for everything!
The conclusion seems to be it either causes cancer or it causes some other condition that will kill you!
Not that I think diet pop is good for you, let's face it COKE is merely Phosphoric acid which (according to Wikipedia) may be used as a "rust converter", by direct application to rusted iron, steel tools, or surfaces. The phosphoric acid converts reddish-brown iron(III) oxide, Fe2O3 (rust) to black ferric phosphate, FePO4. YUM!0 -
I'm surprised by how many of you are ignorant to the fact that diet pop and any food that has ARTIFICIAL sweeteners in it can be extremely harmful to your body. Sure, you may reduce carb and calorie intake, but it is definitely not worth it in the long run. If you want a low sugar and low calorie intake, drink some water! It is pure, zero calories, and essential for the body's well being. Ignoring the facts about artificial sweeteners and diet pop will not make it "healthy". Just search the harmful effects on google and open your eyes.0

Whatever....I love my diet pepsi.0

I'd rather die of "diet soda poisoning" then 'nothing'.
Wait, what am I talking about? I don't even drink diet soda...yuck!0 -

Everyone has a vice of some sort. If diet soda is the worst thing a person has, then by all means, GO FOR IT. I mean seriously, if you don't like something, don't drink it - just back off those that do! Those studies may yet be refuted...remember how "bad" eggs were for us, and now they're "good" for us? I love the smoking comment...it's been PROVEN to be hazardous, and that doesn't change people's behaviors. Why in the world would someone change what they drink because it MIGHT POTENTIALLY be harmful?0

I'm not ignorant to the fact that that artificial sweeteners can POSSIBLY be harmful. I am also not ignorant to the risks of smoking, but I do it anyway. Not ignorant to the risks of not wearing sunblock, but I never do. Not ignorant to the fact that I could die in a car accident, but I still drive.
If I avoided everything that could hurt or kill me I'd never leave my house and I'd still die sooner or later.0 -
Diet soda killed my dog.0

I am going to switch back to my lard shakes like i was eating before. Thanks!0

I find it funny all the people saying "Oh well we are all gonna die anyways"
With that type of attitude why are you even trying to lose weight? Go get yourself a greasy burger and some fries and enjoy life!! Gonna die anyways...0
