 Our weather here is like Port Townsend......it was in the mid to high 70's yesterday and today it is in the low 60's and I'm wearing a sweatshirt again.

:grumble: my afternoon was spent fielding phone calls from the insurance agent and the real estate agent.....there is a never ending supply of questions to answer and documents to initial     I would have preferred to have taken a nap
  • Had chemo today. It is every week now, but doesn't take as long each time. The only side effects I have had from this drug is feeling really tired in the afternoons. And the day of the chemo my blood sugars go up some and I take insulin just for the day.

My sweet Ralph takes such good care of me. He never complains about all the doctor vistis he takes me to (can you believe that I never learned to drive? :blushing: ), and the pharmacy runs he makes, not to mention the expense, and generally putting up with me. What a guy!!!

God Bless all of you. God Bless.

Irene. Good to hear from you. You have a wonderful husband. i know he loves taking care of you. My Jerry actually like me to be depentant on him I think. But I hated losing my indpenent. I am so used to going when I want to and now I have to wait till he is ready. He has been taking me to walmart every Monday for a couple hours. Leaving me and come back and get me. I make sure I have a good meal before we leave so i want have to worry about a low blood sugar. But I still have my car. Just incase I have to drive somewhere. For some resons i just can't give it up yet Tho Its been at least 2 years since I have driven it. I don't think any of my family would ride with me driving tho.

How long will you be taking this chemo.? I am glad it is not bothering you.. I want to hear some more stories about Alaska.Take care of yourself. Sending a big hug to you:heart:

I got to get to know Susan and Monica., My mind is a complete blank.

Hi everyone. The nighthawk is reporting in. We have had a pretty good day today. To my knowledge Neil has had only one seizure and the stimulator has been off all day. I will turn it on for a few minutes before he goes to bed which will be very soon. Hopefully we get some useful information tomorrow. Thais to you all for your support.

Irene -- hope you had a restful afternoon. I am so hopeful for you.

Jeri -- how are you today?

Marie -- Jerry is a wonderful partner for you. How has his throat been?

Barbie -- you are a busy gal. You will be so glad to get settled and have a place to call home. I really appreciate your thoughtful and kind words.

Buzz -- be careful in that heat and humidity.

Time to get Neil off to bed. I will let you know what happens at the Dr. tomorrow.

Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

    Morning Ladies:

Another weekend of boating coming up. Boat is ready and now all I
have to do is make a dish to pass for Saturday night and pack some
clothes. Weather looks great so far. Dave will be putting ice in the
coolers on the boat to get them cold for the food. I love my new boat!!

Lunch out today with a friend and I will be having a salad with portobello
    mushrooms instead of chicken. Yummmm!!

My oldest daughter Kristina just got back from Costa Rica at a Spa in
the jungle. This was a Spa with clay baths and cleansing. Raw veges and
fruits and drinks with super foods in them. Not my kind of vacation.
Her long term goal is to get into Holistic medicine and Nutrition. Right now
she works as an Event Planner for the Canadian Payroll Association. She has
the Eastern and Western part of Canada. She does some travelling. I can't
    wait to see her pictures.
She is the one who gets my husband and me to stay healthy and try all these new things.
I am the one with all the health issues so she worries about me.
But I am working on it and doing pretty good I think.

 Irene: You do have a great husband to take care of you.
 Gayla: I hope your Dr.'s report goes well for Neil.
    Phoebe: HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Everyone have a great day !!

Hi from Saskatchewan. It was warm and sunny. There was rain around us but missed us. I have been enjoying watching the Flickers looking for worms and insects. We have 4 or 5 hanging out in the yard along with a variety of other birds, mostly robins, finches and purple martins. We also have far more dragon- flies than usual which seems to be helping with the mosquitoes.

I think our crisis has been somewhat resolved. The x-Ray showed that the wires were still connected to the stimulator. They decreased the intensity of each stimulation and the 'shock-like' experiences seem to have mostly gone. Actually, I think they have stopped as Neil isn't reporting any. He decided it was time to move home so we packed him up and took him to his home after the appointment. He seems happy and settled. He also had a cardiogram just to rule out heart issues. He will be having an abdominal ultrasound to specifically look at his gall bladder. We are hoping for smooth sailing for awhile.

Take care. Thanks for thoughts and prayers. You folks really are the best folks. Gayla

    This one is for Jake:

    A Touching Golf Story

Dave stood over his tee shot on the 450 yard 18th hole for what seemed an eternity.

He waggled, looked up, looked down, waggled again, but didn't start his back swing.

Finally his exasperated partner Ray asked,
"What the heck is taking so long?"

"My wife is watching me from the clubhouse balcony,' Dave explained. 'I want to make a perfect shot."

His companion Ray said, "You don't have a chance in hell of hitting her from here."

IRENE - hope everything is going well for you. I'm glad your Ralph looks after you so good. My DH is so good for me too. We obviously picked the right guys. LOL

SHIRLEY - your weekends sound like lots of fun. I've never spent much time on a boat, but that comes from living on the prairies, I guess. Not much call for boats here. LOL

GAYLA - I am so glad things have settled down for you and Neil. Whew . . . . . What great news.

MARIE - I don't know how you can handle that hot, hot weather. That would be so hard for me. You must be desparate if you are looking for a hurricane. LOL We've had a cool summer here although it appears to be warming up for the weekend. I hope so.

SANDY - You post the best jokes. I loved the Golf Story. So funny. I always read them to my dh and we both had a good laugh. AND I LOVE to LAUGH. I'm like my daughter Melissa, I usually have a smile on my face and I am laughing about something.

And whoever I missed, have a great day.

I am so annoyed. My new gps sports watched stopped working. Grrrrrr I took it back to Costco and got my money back. However, I loved it and it was a great motivator for me to go walking. I will replace it with another one of some sort for sure. Has anyone else had experience with sport watches that use GPS to track, distance, calories and heart rate, etc?

    See you all later.

:flowerforyou:Jeri, I didn't even know that there were watches with GPS on them. Nice idea. I hope that you can get another one soon.

:flowerforyou: Buzz, I love your animations.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I am going to have to go and read your newest joke. Seems that eveyone loved it.

I am back and YES Sandy...that is good.

I came home and immediately went to bed and to sleep. I usually do not need to catch up on my sleep until the weekend. I didn't make it this week.

:flowerforyou: we had a beautiful day today---sunshine and temps in the high 60's:bigsmile: we did some puttering in the yard so it will be nice for the new owners. I walked the dogs for over an hour this morning. My friend met me for a great walk on the trail and the dogs and I went to the dog park in the early evening.

 we have made arrangements for transferring most of the utilities and reservations for the pets to be boarded for several days while the move takes place.

 Gayla, I am so glad to hear that there is good news for Neil. does that mean that he will be able to go on his fishing trip?

:brokenheart:  Jeri, how sad about your watch. it sounds like how I felt when my exercise bike was broken beyond repair  I found a substitute way to exercise but for days I felt teary whenever I looked at the inoperable bike sitting in my living room:sad: I hope you can find a substitute soon

   Becky, I hope you get the sleep you need.

 Marie, we are going to be able to "rent" our house from the new owners for a week so we'll have plenty of time to move and clean so we won't have to overdo and we'll be boarding the pets so I can put my energy into moving and cleaning instead of all the dog walking I usually do

Hi to you all from sunny saskatchewan. I can pretty much tell the time by when my Northern Flickers show up in the yard which is a good thing as my watch stopped working. It is very strange that even though there are many other clocks in the house I still feel a a bit of lost! I had a very relaxing day. I did a bit of shopping and bought myself some new capris. I took myself out to lunch, yes, all by myself, just me and my book. I had good coffee and a roasted vegetable and goat cheese wrap with a lovely salad. The restaurant is in the bookstore so it feels very comfortable to stop in by myself. They have wonderful desserts but I resisted!

Barbie -- I don't envy you and your move. The end result will be worth it. We are thinking that Neil will go on the fishing trip. I hope things stay stable.

Marie -- so sorry you lost the garden. I can't even imagine that heat.

Jeri -- are you feeling back to yourself? It does take some time to recover your energy after surgery. I love seeing your pictures. I am continually amazed by the beauty in our world. Life is good.

Becky -- hope you feel more rested.

I know I was going to say more but it will have to wait. I hope you are all having a great sleep. Gayla

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I feel as you do when my watch stops. One of my daughters looked at me one day after my watch had broken and said that she had never seen me without one. You lunch sounds wonderful. I don't know of any restaurants when I live that would offer such healthy food. I may have to travel to Canada for lunch.

:flowerforyou: Barbie, I have never had to board any of my animals. Last time I had to leave mine, I left him with my daughter. Well, they put him in their backyard with their HUGE dog (mine is a Yorkie). Of course, mine just scooted right through the fence. When they got home their neighbor called them over. My dog was being kept at their neighbor's house. How far away from your old house will you be moving?

    Morning Ladies:

Another cruise and we leave tomorrow morning. It is supposed to rain
today and possibly a little in the morning. I hope it is a little. I don't want to be
on the Lake in a storm NO WAY!

I have my coleslaw made and dish to pass. I have to pack tonight.
Should be a fun time. Our pot luck on Saturday is called Club Colors Cruise.
That means we are to wear something in our club colors which is red, white, green.
I am all set for that too.

So much planning for food and such. We are taking the folding bikes so a biking
we will go. Sunday is a catered meal and a chef will be coming into the club to
cook. Its pretty much a cook free weekend. I can go for that.

I don't know if I will be tracking depends if Dave takes his laptop along. Anyway, I will
enjoy and hope to make good choices. I am doing a weigh in challenge on this site
until Labor Day and these cruise weekends are killing me to try and lose weight.
I truck on and hope for the best. I certainly can't complain it has been a wonderful
    summer so far. :drinker:

 Barbie: I hope all goes well with your move. Moving is no fun and hard work.
Don't hurt yourself we want you healthy and well.

Good evening Sneakers, This afternoon I've been cutting grass with a push lawnmower and then painting wood preserver on to our communal shed at the allotments in hot, hot (for us) temperature so feel for you all suffering the heat in the US. At least I should have burned a few extra calories but can't find the appetite to eat them all up!! Yesterday I continued to trim my hedges until I cut through the electric cable.:noway: Hooray for modern electric boards that switch off at the slightest zap otherwise I'd be dead!!:ohwell: That put an end to the task but I needed an excuse as it was a hot job.

Barbie ~ Bernie's tree sounds wonderful and I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time climbing it, especially if you continue to scatter the organic catnip!! I'll miss the walking with frisky poodles post until you are all settled in!!

Irene ~ I was so pleased for you that the chemo wasn't too traumatic and you've come through. Your Ralph sounds an absolute star and it's good to know you have such loving support.

Phoebe ~ I'm sorry I missed your birthday but belated best wishes to you.

Gayla ~ What brilliant news about Neil's wiring. I so hope he gets to go on his fishing trip.

Jeri ~ Those poppies are gorgeous. I've had some pale mauve ones pop up at the bottom of my garden after a job of clearing the area for fox-proof fencing was done, nothing as grand as yours though. What a stunning colour!!

Short and sweet tonight as I am hot and sticky after my busy afternoon in the heat and want to get under the shower before heading for my bed. Tucking the chooks into their beds first though!

All of you take care in that heat.

    Jackie
