BARBIE - You understood exactly how I felt with my watch broke. We are two of a kind in that respect.
JACKIE - Oh thanks, I love my poppies too. Mauve ones sound beautiful too.
SHIRLEY - Have a great time and what a fun idea for a Pot Luck.
GAYLA - I'm not quite there yet, but getting better every day. This second surgery healed faster but has taken a bigger toil on me energy wise. 2 surgeries in 3 weeks is 2 much. LOL It sounds like you had a great day. As for watches since I retired, I don't usually wear a watch anymore (except on walks when I wear my fitness watch that tracks my HR and calories, etc.). Though, it's not as if I don't know the time, because I usually have my cell phone with me. However, when I was working, let me tell you that I seemed to be lost withougt it.
We went to Costco today and I bought a new GPS fitness watch. I came home and had a nap and then got it set up. I then headed out for a short walk which really played me out. I guess it will take time to get me back to my old self physically.
I decided to buy another GARMIN 405CX because Costco has such a good warranty. I figure if it breaks down again, I'll just return it again and get my money back. That is what we did with the one that stopped working. We got the full amount back and then I rebought another one. And they are on sale right now. $30 cheaper.
Hope everyone is having a great day.0 -
Once upon a time there lived a king.
The king had a beautiful daughter,
The PRINCESS..
But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt.
No matter what;
Metal,
Wood,
Stone.
Anything she touched would melt.
Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her.
The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter?
He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king,
'If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.'
The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan.
The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king's wealth...
THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE.
The first brought a sword of the finest steel.
But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted.
The prince went away sadly .
The second prince brought diamonds.
He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt.
But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted.
He too was sent away disappointed.
The third prince approached. He told the princess,
'Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.'
The princess did as she was told, though she turned red .
She felt something hard. She held it in her hand.
And it did not melt!!!
The king was overjoyed Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed. !
And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after.
Question: What was in the prince's pants?
M&M's of course.
They melt in your mouth, not in your hand.
What were you thinking??
AND YOU THINK I HAVE A DIRTY MIND!0 -

    Sandy, that was a great joke.........
 Jeri, I wrote down the model of your GPS watch so I can look at it when I go to Costco but I probably won't be able to buy it because we're about to spend too much money buying a king size bed
:flowerforyou: so far we haven't packed anything that we shouldn't have :bigsmile:0 -
Just a quick note to wish everyone a great Friday. I am short on time due to the fact that I left my work keys at home and couldn't get in for a while. I finally had security let me in.:grumble:0
-
Happy Friday Sneakers!! We had another big storm during the night, the second in a row. We have been very lucky as far as not flooding so I hope the rain has stopped because we have had enough. :explode:
I have been very busy this summer, between the pool, the casino and just doing things with the grand kids. I am still watching my calories and walk Daisy whenever it isn't too hot. :glasses: I am maintaining my second goal weight so I am happy.:blushing: I read all the posts and try to give you a laugh with some of the jokes being sent to me, but don't always have time to respond. I will try to catch up a little today but it has been a while since I posted so bear with me.
Becky, sorry you forgot your keys today, but glad you finally got in to work.
Barbie, I love my HRM/Watch which records all that Jeri does, mine however is a Polar, recommended by Connie. Sounds like you and Jake have everything on schedule for your move. I personally hate moving which is why we will probably stay here forever. Our house is small though but big enough for the three of us.
Marie, glad you liked my joke, you dirty old lady.  25 days over 100 degrees? I love hot weather but that is just too much. I hope you do not set any records and start cooling down soon.
Jeri, sorry you are still exhausted but it is perfectly understandable with two surgeries. Just take it easy on yourself, mending is more important that exercise right now. Did you get the last results yet? I too understand about your HRM, I can't walk Daisy without it and when I forget to put it on we have to come back. I too love your flowers they are so beautiful.
Jackie, so glad you are back always great to hear from you. Sure glad you didn't get zapped from the hedge cutter, you take it easy young lady. You tire me out just listening to all you do.
Shirley, enjoy your trip on the boat, but please don't get caught in any storms. You are doing amazing even with all the summer activities. Congratulations.
Gayla, so happy you took some time for yourself and even happier that Neil is doing so much better. I too hope he gets to go on his fishing trip.
Jake, most of the time I tease you but you are a wonderful husband. You and Barbie sound so happy.
Phoebe, glad you are still checking in with us, miss you so much.
Irene, our angel on earth, I am so happy when you check in. I am sorry that you are so tired from your chemo but your husband sounds like another angel who takes good care of you, along with the littlest angel Mariah.
Buzz, I know the feeling of being busy, but we are happy when you check in just to say hello.
Firesign, thanks for checking in with us and don't get discouraged with the scales. Count your calories, exercise and drink water, it will happen so have patience.
Monica, glad I made you and your family laugh. Thanks for dropping in, hope to hear from you again.
By jove, I think I've done it!! If I missed you I apologize.
Have a wonderful day, life is too short!!!0 -
Ooooh! Are my legs sore today. We decided to replace a few damaged tiles in the kitchen floor. Not a hard job, but you have to get down on the floor, remove the old tile, and clean up underneath before you put the new tile in place. The key phrase here is, "get down on the floor." Getting down and up is harder for Ralph, so I did that part. Just goes to show how little I have been using my thigh muscles. :ohwell:
Enjoy all your posts, enjoy the jokes. Have a good day. God bless.0 -

Irene, I feel your pain, LOL, I can just imagine how many 'ups and downs' I could do!! lol - ONE down, and ZERO ups!!
God Bless you and your family0 -
Hello Sneakers ~ Everything is fine here. I'm house and animal sitting for my neighbours again and had fun this evening trying to shut their hens in for the night as one seemed to have disappeared and I thought Mr Fox had snuck in on my watch. I found feathers in the soil and thought that's just my luck but some of them are moulting so wasn't sure about the fox. Well, suddenly, like Houdini, the missing bird was there in front of my eyes!! I told her if she tries that trick tomorrow night she might just have to roost in a tree until morning!!
Sandy ~ You are doing so well maintaining your weight. It proves it can be done so I won't have any excuses once I reach my goal. I won't tire you this evening with stories of a busy day because I went to visit a friend for a coffee at 11 am and was still sitting on my backside chatting at 3pm. Nothing strenuous there!!
Irene ~ I think as we get older floors become the worst place to reach! At least when cleaning we can use mops on long handles but taking up tiles you only have one way to go and that's down!!
Becky ~ Frustrating to leave your keys at home. You probably won't do that again in a hurry.:noway:
Barbie ~ A king size bed!! What luxury. Does that mean there's room for a dog or two???
Well, I started the day dancing the twist in my kitchen to the Beachboys Fun, Fun, Fun on the radio and this evening found myself watching a tv programme about WWI until it all got just too depressing. However, right at the end some old film was shown to a Belgian lady that showed her father flying a zeppelin over all the ruins towards the end of the war and he looked so young and handsome it was an absolute treat for her and she had tears of joy, so a happy ending of sorts, if there ever could be such a thing related to that dreadful time.
Another weekend coming up. Where does the time go?? Take care everyone.

I posted a long piece yesterday, but I see it never got online, so I'm just welcoming Sandy's suggestion and saying
H E L L O !;

:flowerforyou: Buzz, just seeing your smiling face is enough for me. You have been a terrific friend to all of us.
:flowerforyou: Jackie, I absolutely LOVE the relationship you have with all the chickens.
:flowerforyou: Irene, I can't get down on the floor anymore. I have tendonitis in my left knee. If I kneal on it I will not be able to walk for several minutes. Yes, old age can be depressing.
Alright everyone...I stopped being a good girl back in November (with the exception of no longer smoking). I feel so fat and out of shape. I am embarassed to go out of my house. I feel horrible. You would think that feeling this way would make me be good. Well, not always. I am not eating right or exercising as I should be. I think that I am just about to give up. No, I KNOW I have given up.0 -

Whoa, whoa whoa....just stop a minute Becky. Why are you beating yourself up?? You know you can do this, you are having a hard time right now but so what?? You can back on track and you can meet your goal. It is harder in the summer than the winter but think about your health and what you want to accomplish. I slacked the first year on MFP but once I got down to business the weight came off. I am not the best calorie watcher but when I think about staying at my goal it really makes me think. There is no rush to reach our goals, but being healthy and fit is important. Don't give up, you can do this. Take it one day at a time.0 -

Great picture of you and your hubby Buzz. Both of you look terrific and "young".0 -

I agree with Sandy completely. Don't feel bad, you can do it. For me just recording what I eat helps tremendously. Often I find that I have eaten fewer calories than I thought I had. Just recording daily can really help you stay the same weight if not allow you to lose some weight. And we are here for you any time you need some pick me up. Hang in there.0 -
BARBIE - a new bed sounds good too. I need one of those too. However, Sandy is right. I've heard that Polar makes good watches too. Probably some other companies do too. I just decided on my Garmin because it was the one our local Costco had. So far so good, with my second one.
SANDY - I'm glad you are having a great summer. Don't worry about catching up. You've been so good about replying to every single one of us. I often wondered how you managed to do that. And, as for watches, you are right. When mine stopped working, I was heart broken. It is so motivating for me.
And no, Sandy, no results yet. It is now Friday night so I know I won't hear until at least Tuesday because Monday is a holiday here in Alberta. I'm not sure if it is in the US as well. Waiting is always hard.
IRENE - that sounds like hard work. Whenever I use muscles I've used for a bit, they ache like mad afterwards.
JACKIE - give those hens a talking to. LOL Mr. Fox will be looking for them for sure if they don't behave.
BUZZ - don't you just hate it when all your words disappear into never never land. It drives me crazy when that happens.
Here's a picture from our walk this afternoon. Take care.

Hi everyone from hot Saskatchewan. Well, not Texas hot but hot just the same. I think it was 28C which is about 85F. It likely sounds like a cool day to Marie but it felt very hot as I sat in the sun watching tennis. I had taken some tylenol for a headache earlier and should have been smart enough not to go but I wanted to see this young Canadian guy play against the young American. It was close but I had to leave when the headache came back with a vengeance. More Tylenol and some sleep and now it is mostly gone except for what I call the hangover. I also have an eye infection so have been using some drops. I hope my optometrist clinic is open tomorrow. So, that is me today.
I think it is enough computing for me. Take care. Gayla0 -
Hello everyone. I have been trying to log on all morning but would not let me.
Gayla good to hear from you snd yes we would welcome 85 degrees araound here. The hurrican fizzle out Look like we are heading to beat the all time record of the 1980' so we still have not had a drop of rain. this month. They say it will be hotter next week.. They are tracking another storm but way to early to predict where it will go. I am making me some chile beans to put over Shredded lettuce and tomatoes like a taco salad only used ;ettuce instear of tortillas. Shold be good and top it off with some cold watermelon.****** hope you are feeling better now. I hardly ever get a headache. don't remember taking anything for one.
Jer You do find some lovely flowers on your walks. thank you for Sharing..
have a lovely day.
May have to moved up to Canada with you gals.0 -
A quick smile ~~~
A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3.
The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson...
'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
' Ryan, you be Jesus !'

:flowerforyou: Marie, I am sorry about your computer problems but then again...I am glad that I am not the only one to have them.
:flowerforyou: Gayla, your temperature would be welcome here. We have been in the upper 90s with it feeling like 110. I am thinking that God is giving me these temperatures to prepare me for my trip to Florida next week.
I am not posting my foods this weekend....because I am being a bad girl.0 -

    As we sat in the 75 degree sunshine watching the Seattle Mariners beat Tampa Bay 3-2, I wondered what it must be like a the baseball stadium in Dallas with all those hot temperatures.
 We got up early so I could walk the poodles before we left, we drove an hour and a half to the ferry, parked the car, walked onto the ferry where we walked around the whole 30 minute crossing and then walked to the ball park where we walked some more in search of garlic fries. then we walked some more before the game. Later I had a "loaded" baked potato and a bottle of water and basked in the sunshine and enjoyed the game, then walked back to the ferry, walked around on the ferry, and drove home and walked the dogs some more      24,000 steps so far :bigsmile:0 -
Hi everyone; I was so disappointed to see MARIE didn't get a good drenching from that Hurricane that fizzled! You really need some respite there in Texas, dear girl! Your "untortilla" sounded delicious and so creative!

SANDY: talk about looking good! You've got the glow and cheekbones of a model!
JERI: your pictures are gorgeous! what kind of equipment do you use for the flowers? Also, keep up those spirits and think positive until it's confirmed next week. We are all sending good thoughts your way...positive thoughts.
IRENE announced:The key phrase here is, "get down on the floor."
JACKIE: you and da boids! I love your stories of you and those hens, too! Not just any pets, but feathery ones! Different:laugh:   And the lesson in sharing; and so typical! Adorable!
GAYLA: sitting in the sun with an infected eye, yet, is a surefire way to end up needing tylenol! Sorry the tennis match ended up with you feeling lousy. Have you a nice sun-blocking hat for outdoors? I bought 2 last spring...really flattering. I hope to remember to wear them some day!

Hey Becky, is there a reason for you giving up that you can talk about on here? As Buzz says, we're all here for each other and often just writing down thoughts can clear the mind and put us back on the right path. You stopped smoking and that's a terrific achievement so you know you can be strong. However bad you might be feeling about your body right now taking a walk outside really isn't going to have the whole world looking at you with a critical eye. No one's perfect and anyway, they're usually caught up in their own problems so let's say together "bums off seats" and take a short walk. I think you may feel a little more positive if you can do it. Another thing I found that actually helps me stay focused IS logging bad days as well as good. No one is going to point a finger or tut-tut because we've all been there and got the t-shirt, whatever its size!! It just acknowledges you know where you're going wrong and then you move on. Sharing is always better than bottling it up inside.:flowerforyou:
That's it Becky, Sunday sermon over!!

BARBIE, I think of you with those gorgeous poodles and it brings warmth to my heart! I hope they love the new house!
BECKY, are you ready for your visit? At least our breezes are wonderful!
IRENE: hope you are having a lovely weekend and giving your knees a good rest!
I'm way off menus today, but as I mentioned back aways, I'm not being as careful as I had been, thinking a slight holiday from thinking about food and nutrition might help me get back on track once I'm ready again! My 1st shopping venture will pull me up short, I'm certain!
Have a lovely finish to this weekend...and don't watch news on the TV!!!:grumble:
