IRENE - hope everything is going well for you. I'm glad your Ralph looks after you so good. My DH is so good for me too. We obviously picked the right guys. LOL

SHIRLEY - your weekends sound like lots of fun. I've never spent much time on a boat, but that comes from living on the prairies, I guess. Not much call for boats here. LOL

GAYLA - I am so glad things have settled down for you and Neil. Whew . . . . . What great news.

MARIE - I don't know how you can handle that hot, hot weather. That would be so hard for me. You must be desparate if you are looking for a hurricane. LOL We've had a cool summer here although it appears to be warming up for the weekend. I hope so.

SANDY - You post the best jokes. I loved the Golf Story. So funny. I always read them to my dh and we both had a good laugh. AND I LOVE to LAUGH. I'm like my daughter Melissa, I usually have a smile on my face and I am laughing about something.

And whoever I missed, have a great day.

I am so annoyed. My new gps sports watched stopped working. Grrrrrr I took it back to Costco and got my money back. However, I loved it and it was a great motivator for me to go walking. I will replace it with another one of some sort for sure. Has anyone else had experience with sport watches that use GPS to track, distance, calories and heart rate, etc?

    See you all later.

:flowerforyou:Jeri, I didn't even know that there were watches with GPS on them. Nice idea. I hope that you can get another one soon.

:flowerforyou: Buzz, I love your animations.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I am going to have to go and read your newest joke. Seems that eveyone loved it.

I am back and YES Sandy...that is good.

I came home and immediately went to bed and to sleep. I usually do not need to catch up on my sleep until the weekend. I didn't make it this week.

:flowerforyou: we had a beautiful day today---sunshine and temps in the high 60's:bigsmile: we did some puttering in the yard so it will be nice for the new owners. I walked the dogs for over an hour this morning. My friend met me for a great walk on the trail and the dogs and I went to the dog park in the early evening.

 we have made arrangements for transferring most of the utilities and reservations for the pets to be boarded for several days while the move takes place.

 Gayla, I am so glad to hear that there is good news for Neil. does that mean that he will be able to go on his fishing trip?

:brokenheart:  Jeri, how sad about your watch. it sounds like how I felt when my exercise bike was broken beyond repair  I found a substitute way to exercise but for days I felt teary whenever I looked at the inoperable bike sitting in my living room:sad: I hope you can find a substitute soon

   Becky, I hope you get the sleep you need.

 Marie, we are going to be able to "rent" our house from the new owners for a week so we'll have plenty of time to move and clean so we won't have to overdo and we'll be boarding the pets so I can put my energy into moving and cleaning instead of all the dog walking I usually do

Hi to you all from sunny saskatchewan. I can pretty much tell the time by when my Northern Flickers show up in the yard which is a good thing as my watch stopped working. It is very strange that even though there are many other clocks in the house I still feel a a bit of lost! I had a very relaxing day. I did a bit of shopping and bought myself some new capris. I took myself out to lunch, yes, all by myself, just me and my book. I had good coffee and a roasted vegetable and goat cheese wrap with a lovely salad. The restaurant is in the bookstore so it feels very comfortable to stop in by myself. They have wonderful desserts but I resisted!

Barbie -- I don't envy you and your move. The end result will be worth it. We are thinking that Neil will go on the fishing trip. I hope things stay stable.

Marie -- so sorry you lost the garden. I can't even imagine that heat.

Jeri -- are you feeling back to yourself? It does take some time to recover your energy after surgery. I love seeing your pictures. I am continually amazed by the beauty in our world. Life is good.

Becky -- hope you feel more rested.

I know I was going to say more but it will have to wait. I hope you are all having a great sleep. Gayla

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I feel as you do when my watch stops. One of my daughters looked at me one day after my watch had broken and said that she had never seen me without one. You lunch sounds wonderful. I don't know of any restaurants when I live that would offer such healthy food. I may have to travel to Canada for lunch.

:flowerforyou: Barbie, I have never had to board any of my animals. Last time I had to leave mine, I left him with my daughter. Well, they put him in their backyard with their HUGE dog (mine is a Yorkie). Of course, mine just scooted right through the fence. When they got home their neighbor called them over. My dog was being kept at their neighbor's house. How far away from your old house will you be moving?

    Morning Ladies:

Another cruise and we leave tomorrow morning. It is supposed to rain
today and possibly a little in the morning. I hope it is a little. I don't want to be
on the Lake in a storm NO WAY!

I have my coleslaw made and dish to pass. I have to pack tonight.
Should be a fun time. Our pot luck on Saturday is called Club Colors Cruise.
That means we are to wear something in our club colors which is red, white, green.
I am all set for that too.

So much planning for food and such. We are taking the folding bikes so a biking
we will go. Sunday is a catered meal and a chef will be coming into the club to
cook. Its pretty much a cook free weekend. I can go for that.

I don't know if I will be tracking depends if Dave takes his laptop along. Anyway, I will
enjoy and hope to make good choices. I am doing a weigh in challenge on this site
until Labor Day and these cruise weekends are killing me to try and lose weight.
I truck on and hope for the best. I certainly can't complain it has been a wonderful
    summer so far. :drinker:

 Barbie: I hope all goes well with your move. Moving is no fun and hard work.
Don't hurt yourself we want you healthy and well.

The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming Yourself. >>>Anna Quindlen

Don't know if I will be able to log in at the boat club, sometimes Wi Fi is hard to get.
But I will be thinking of everyone and their challenges.

Keep it up gals you are amazing !!:drinker:

Good evening Sneakers, This afternoon I've been cutting grass with a push lawnmower and then painting wood preserver on to our communal shed at the allotments in hot, hot (for us) temperature so feel for you all suffering the heat in the US. At least I should have burned a few extra calories but can't find the appetite to eat them all up!! Yesterday I continued to trim my hedges until I cut through the electric cable.:noway: Hooray for modern electric boards that switch off at the slightest zap otherwise I'd be dead!!:ohwell: That put an end to the task but I needed an excuse as it was a hot job.

Barbie ~ Bernie's tree sounds wonderful and I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time climbing it, especially if you continue to scatter the organic catnip!! I'll miss the walking with frisky poodles post until you are all settled in!!

Irene ~ I was so pleased for you that the chemo wasn't too traumatic and you've come through. Your Ralph sounds an absolute star and it's good to know you have such loving support.

Phoebe ~ I'm sorry I missed your birthday but belated best wishes to you.

Gayla ~ What brilliant news about Neil's wiring. I so hope he gets to go on his fishing trip.

Jeri ~ Those poppies are gorgeous. I've had some pale mauve ones pop up at the bottom of my garden after a job of clearing the area for fox-proof fencing was done, nothing as grand as yours though. What a stunning colour!!

Short and sweet tonight as I am hot and sticky after my busy afternoon in the heat and want to get under the shower before heading for my bed. Tucking the chooks into their beds first though!

All of you take care in that heat.

BARBIE - You understood exactly how I felt with my watch broke. We are two of a kind in that respect.

JACKIE - Oh thanks, I love my poppies too. Mauve ones sound beautiful too.

SHIRLEY - Have a great time and what a fun idea for a Pot Luck.

GAYLA - I'm not quite there yet, but getting better every day. This second surgery healed faster but has taken a bigger toil on me energy wise. 2 surgeries in 3 weeks is 2 much. LOL It sounds like you had a great day. As for watches since I retired, I don't usually wear a watch anymore (except on walks when I wear my fitness watch that tracks my HR and calories, etc.). Though, it's not as if I don't know the time, because I usually have my cell phone with me. However, when I was working, let me tell you that I seemed to be lost withougt it.

We went to Costco today and I bought a new GPS fitness watch. I came home and had a nap and then got it set up. I then headed out for a short walk which really played me out. I guess it will take time to get me back to my old self physically.

I decided to buy another GARMIN 405CX because Costco has such a good warranty. I figure if it breaks down again, I'll just return it again and get my money back. That is what we did with the one that stopped working. We got the full amount back and then I rebought another one. And they are on sale right now. $30 cheaper.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Once upon a time there lived a king.
The king had a beautiful daughter,
    The PRINCESS..

But there was a problem. Everything the princess touched would melt.

    No matter what;

    Metal,

    Wood,

    Stone.

    Anything she touched would melt.

Because of this, men were afraid of her. Nobody would dare marry her.

The king despaired. What could he do to help his daughter?

He consulted his wizards and magicians. One wizard told the king,

'If your daughter touches one thing that does not melt in her hands, she will be cured.'

The king was overjoyed and came up with a plan.

The next day, he held a competition. Any man that could bring his daughter an object that would not melt would marry her and inherit the king's wealth...

THREE YOUNG PRINCES TOOK UP THE CHALLENGE.

The first brought a sword of the finest steel.

But alas, when the princess touched it, it melted.
The prince went away sadly .

    The second prince brought diamonds.

He thought diamonds are the hardest substance in the world and would not melt.
But alas, once the princess touched them, they melted.

He too was sent away disappointed.

The third prince approached. He told the princess,
'Put your hand in my pocket and feel what is in there.'

The princess did as she was told, though she turned red .

She felt something hard. She held it in her hand.

    And it did not melt!!!

The king was overjoyed Everybody in the kingdom was overjoyed. !

And the third prince married the princess and they both lived happily ever after.

Question: What was in the prince's pants?

    M&M's of course.

They melt in your mouth, not in your hand.
    What were you thinking??

AND YOU THINK I HAVE A DIRTY MIND!

    Sandy, that was a great joke.........

 Jeri, I wrote down the model of your GPS watch so I can look at it when I go to Costco but I probably won't be able to buy it because we're about to spend too much money buying a king size bed

:flowerforyou: so far we haven't packed anything that we shouldn't have

Just a quick note to wish everyone a great Friday. I am short on time due to the fact that I left my work keys at home and couldn't get in for a while. I finally had security let me in.:grumble:

Happy Friday Sneakers!! We had another big storm during the night, the second in a row. We have been very lucky as far as not flooding so I hope the rain has stopped because we have had enough. :explode:

I have been very busy this summer, between the pool, the casino and just doing things with the grand kids. I am still watching my calories and walk Daisy whenever it isn't too hot. :glasses: I am maintaining my second goal weight so I am happy.:blushing: I read all the posts and try to give you a laugh with some of the jokes being sent to me, but don't always have time to respond. I will try to catch up a little today but it has been a while since I posted so bear with me.

Becky, sorry you forgot your keys today, but glad you finally got in to work.

Barbie, I love my HRM/Watch which records all that Jeri does, mine however is a Polar, recommended by Connie. Sounds like you and Jake have everything on schedule for your move. I personally hate moving which is why we will probably stay here forever. Our house is small though but big enough for the three of us.

Marie, glad you liked my joke, you dirty old lady.  25 days over 100 degrees? I love hot weather but that is just too much. I hope you do not set any records and start cooling down soon.

Jeri, sorry you are still exhausted but it is perfectly understandable with two surgeries. Just take it easy on yourself, mending is more important that exercise right now. Did you get the last results yet? I too understand about your HRM, I can't walk Daisy without it and when I forget to put it on we have to come back. I too love your flowers they are so beautiful.

Jackie, so glad you are back always great to hear from you. Sure glad you didn't get zapped from the hedge cutter, you take it easy young lady. You tire me out just listening to all you do.

Shirley, enjoy your trip on the boat, but please don't get caught in any storms. You are doing amazing even with all the summer activities. Congratulations.

Gayla, so happy you took some time for yourself and even happier that Neil is doing so much better. I too hope he gets to go on his fishing trip.

Jake, most of the time I tease you but you are a wonderful husband. You and Barbie sound so happy.

Phoebe, glad you are still checking in with us, miss you so much.

Irene, our angel on earth, I am so happy when you check in. I am sorry that you are so tired from your chemo but your husband sounds like another angel who takes good care of you, along with the littlest angel Mariah.

Buzz, I know the feeling of being busy, but we are happy when you check in just to say hello.

Firesign, thanks for checking in with us and don't get discouraged with the scales. Count your calories, exercise and drink water, it will happen so have patience.

Monica, glad I made you and your family laugh. Thanks for dropping in, hope to hear from you again.

By jove, I think I've done it!! If I missed you I apologize.

Have a wonderful day, life is too short!!!
  • Ooooh! Are my legs sore today. We decided to replace a few damaged tiles in the kitchen floor. Not a hard job, but you have to get down on the floor, remove the old tile, and clean up underneath before you put the new tile in place. The key phrase here is, "get down on the floor." Getting down and up is harder for Ralph, so I did that part. Just goes to show how little I have been using my thigh muscles. :ohwell:

Enjoy all your posts, enjoy the jokes. Have a good day. God bless.

Hello Sneakers ~ Everything is fine here. I'm house and animal sitting for my neighbours again and had fun this evening trying to shut their hens in for the night as one seemed to have disappeared and I thought Mr Fox had snuck in on my watch. I found feathers in the soil and thought that's just my luck but some of them are moulting so wasn't sure about the fox. Well, suddenly, like Houdini, the missing bird was there in front of my eyes!! I told her if she tries that trick tomorrow night she might just have to roost in a tree until morning!!

Sandy ~ You are doing so well maintaining your weight. It proves it can be done so I won't have any excuses once I reach my goal. I won't tire you this evening with stories of a busy day because I went to visit a friend for a coffee at 11 am and was still sitting on my backside chatting at 3pm. Nothing strenuous there!!

Irene ~ I think as we get older floors become the worst place to reach! At least when cleaning we can use mops on long handles but taking up tiles you only have one way to go and that's down!!

Becky ~ Frustrating to leave your keys at home. You probably won't do that again in a hurry.:noway:

Barbie ~ A king size bed!! What luxury. Does that mean there's room for a dog or two???

Well, I started the day dancing the twist in my kitchen to the Beachboys Fun, Fun, Fun on the radio and this evening found myself watching a tv programme about WWI until it all got just too depressing. However, right at the end some old film was shown to a Belgian lady that showed her father flying a zeppelin over all the ruins towards the end of the war and he looked so young and handsome it was an absolute treat for her and she had tears of joy, so a happy ending of sorts, if there ever could be such a thing related to that dreadful time.

Another weekend coming up. Where does the time go?? Take care everyone.
