:flowerforyou: Deb, any really good Zumba instructor will tell you to work at your own pace. One thing that is very helpful is to get the footwork down before using your arms. I read your post. Most of what you mentioned was the mat work. That was what seemed to be giving you the problems. Don't give up. I don't do a class but use DVDs at home. I got to the point that I really didn't want to do it in front of others. Mainly, because they were majorly lossing weight while I was gaining. I am waiting for my husband to leave so I can dance. He will probably be here about another hour.

:flowerforyou: Judy, a cold, wet winter day sounds soooo good right now !!!! The milkman !!!! Of course !!

Hi to you all. I likely missed some good stuff as I perused very quickly. Thanks so much for the prayers and kind thoughts for Neil. It must be working as he had a much better day. The neuro. nurse called first thing this morning and suggested completely turning off his stimulator until she can reassess it tomorrow. She is waiting for the computer guy to come in and then she will call us. The stimulator gets turned off by taping a magnet in place over top of it until it can be reset. He had a much better day today. He had two small seizures and no chest pain since the stimulator was turned off. Living with technology can be crazy sometimes.

I did lots of walking while on our little holiday. We spent a lot of time at West Edmonton Mall shopping and mostly just looking. We went to a dinner theatre that Neil really liked. The music and singing was all Beatle music. He is still talking about it. It was the day following that things went crazy for Neil.

Irene -- So glad to see the news about the cancer marker. That is really good news. I hope it continues to improve. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Marie -- I feel bad that I missed your anniversary!! A belated Happy Anniversary to you and Jerry. I hope you had a wonderful day.

Sandy -- You enjoy your hiatus with your family but don't forget to come back!!

Jeri -- The wait is on once again. I hope it says they have it all.

I know I wanted to say more but alas I can't think of what it is. I will try to do better. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

Morning Ladies! A quick catch-up before I pick up my paintbrush and continue decorating the bedroom.

Buzz ~ I owe you an apology because I misinterpreted your original post about the funeral you've now attended and read it as you not missing the individual who'd passed away. You know I'd never wish to offend you so please forgive my flippant remark.

Jeri ~ I hope you're not feeling sore today and continue your positive attitude. It'll go such a long way to seeing you healed and well.

Deb ~ I'm sure you will love your exploration of Devon. There's plenty to see and perhaps, if it's warm enough, you'll get to paddle in the sea!

I can't remember who told me about flaxseed a while ago but, hooray, yesterday I found it in our local Co-operative store in their reduced section. I mixed a couple of teaspoons in a yogurt last night and sprinkled on my cereal this morning so feel I'm putting plenty of goodness into my system and a plus is there are little or no calories!!

That's it for now, my paintbrush is calling me!

:flowerforyou: Sandy, congrats on your win.

:flowerforyou: awww barbie...send some of that coolness to me.

:flowerforyou: Wow Jackie...painting so early? You must really be a morning person.

:flowerforyou: Lafla, great news about Neil. God does answer prayers.

It is even hot with the A/C. We are to get a small break this weekend and then it will be heating back up again next week.

 Well the plan is working I have lost 2.6 pounds so far. Getting used to not
snacking between meals. I did bring raw veges and dip for my 3:00 pm slump and
it really helped!! I didn't feel so hungry when I got home. I also saw a low cal dip on
a thread here for white beans etc. and I will try it. Its better than the store bought.

This moring was a whole banana, a whole grapefruit and I did sneak in a 100 cal thin bagel.
    Oh My!! hehehehe.

Well tonight is Harry Potter's last movie, and you are are asking if I will be eating popcorn, the
answer is YES! I will be sharing with my hubby and bottled water. Then we are going
out for dinner and I will be having a salad. This plan isn't that hard, just a few days is rough like
any other plan. Its for six weeks and then I can decide if I want to continue. Its actually a life style
    way of eating.

Sandy: Congratulations! on your casino win. It always feels good.

Gayla: Good to hear Neil is better. Hope he will be up and at it soon :flowerforyou:

    Have a great Friday everyone!!

Happy Friday!! We finally had some rain last night and it looks like it going to rain again soon. (I had to shut down the computer because a big storm came through but it has cleared up and the sun is trying to come out.)

This is not going to be easy trying to catch up with everyone but will do the best I can. :ohwell:

Shirley, congratulations on your weight loss!!! Your new way of life seems to be working for you, glad it is getting easier everyday.
I am in the process of watching all the Harry Potter movies before I watch the last one. I did see them and have all the books but I wanted to refresh my memory.
Becky, I know what you mean about the heat, I love summer but this is a little too hot!! :glasses:

Jackie, don't feel bad about your remark to Buzz, I too read it the same way, but she must have made a typing error. So if you are apologizing then I too must say I am sorry Buzz. :flowerforyou:

Gayla, glad your trip was fun and Neil got to enjoy it. That poor guy goes through so much pain and suffering, I pray he gets a break soon.

Buzz, please go back and read your original post about your friend, so you understand what Jackie and I are talking about. So sorry for the loss of your friend, or could it be two people who have recently died and maybe we didn't read it wrong after all??? :noway:

Deb, Zumba just sounds so hard to me, I watched it On Demand and they moved so quickly I would probably throw a hip out.

Judy, loved your joke, it made me laugh out loud!! Wow, Thailand sounds hot but will be an exciting place to visit. I personally don't like Thai food, but hope you enjoy your trip.

Jeri, I hope you are feeling better today and hope you get your results quickly, waiting can be so hard. :flowerforyou:

Marie, my eldest son will be 48 on the 26th, I can hardly believe I have a son that old. Hope your anniversary was wonderful and love was in the air.

Barbie, you must be so busy trying to get ready for the move, wished we all lived close enough to help you.

I am sure I missed someone and for that I am sorry, just know I think of you all and hope you are having success in your journey and happiness in your life.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I wouldn't worry about missing anyone. We all still love you. If you were to be interested in Zumba you could purchase the DVDs they sell on TV. Some of them are very easy. Only problem I have is with two steps. And, it isn't due to them being hard...it is just that I can't figure out how they are done. I don't catch on easily.

:flowerforyou: Shirley, I think your breakfast sounds great. The 100 cal bagel should hurt you.

Speaking of watching movies over again when a new one is released.....I do that with Twilight. Before watching a new one I will watch them all from the beginning. I read three of the Harry Potter books. They are not the sort of books that you can read just for fun. I really had to concentrate to be able to understand them.

I hope that everyone is able to stay cool. Drink lots of water and stay in with the A/C.

Thank you , Sandy, for sending me back to re-read about the 4th death in our Community! Oh, my goodness, it sounded as if I would not miss him, when I really meant I would not miss his funeral! I have had to miss a couple, whom I barely knew, but this man really stood out in our minds as appearing very unassuming but actually being a very kindly, accomplished, and wonderful person! And the speakers at the funeral painted a picture of a man I'm truly sorry I had not known much better during his lifetime! I will try to get to know his widow better, now that she is alone, as they were an outstandingly devoted couple! Jackie, I understand your post, but since I hadn't time to read our board, I held NO grudge!
A belated Happy 55th to Marie, and although I've glanced through most posts, I haven't time to answer everyone yet! One more appointment...so many Drs...so little time! Hopefully, I'll have more space over the weekend!

    Hello again lovely ladies,

Just taking a break from the pain of deciding what to pack for our short trip to Devon. It's having to take clothes for all possible weather that does my head in. Everything is thrown in a pile at the moment. I am taking the laptop but not sure if they wifi where we are staying, so I might not be able to post for a few days. We will back late on Thursday.

I have'nt weighed myself for weeks now. This is because I have'nt really been on the diet properly and I am too much of a coward! This morning I tried on a pair of trousers that I have not been able to get into for almost 2 years! To my amazement they fit:drinker: Well, they are quite snug but still, I can do them up! Mind you when I bent over the zip immediately fell down:laugh: I can hardly believe it. Just imagine if I had stuck to my eating plan. Anyway it has given me more willpower to carry on now.

Sandy: Well done on the win. What a great feeling:bigsmile:

Shirley: well done on your loss. Keep up the great work:drinker:

Gayla: I am glad to hear that Neil is having a better day today. Lets hope they sort out his stimulator:flowerforyou:

Jeri: Hope you are feeling much better today.:flowerforyou: The waiting is always the hardest thing.

Buzz: It's lovely that you are going to put yourself out to know the widow better. I am sure she will appreciate that so much. :flowerforyou: Let us know how you get on at the doctors:bigsmile:

Jackie:Where do you find the time? You always have packed days.I am really looking forward to our little trip. Just to unwind and de stress. Devon sounds perfect for that. My friend has just come back from her trip there and she said how lovely it is:bigsmile:

Becky: I keep meaning to watch the Twighlight films, since my daughter raves about them, but I just can't seem to find the time right now (or stay awake):flowerforyou:

Marie: Hope you are managing to stay cool. It's raining cats and dogs here at the moment:frown: Hope I get some of your sunshine at the weekend:flowerforyou:

    Take care

Barbie: Sorry, I meant to ask how it's going with the move. Moving house can be so stressful. Hope it's all going according to plan:flowerforyou:
I was talking about you today to a friend. We were laughing at ourselves being to worried about what other people think of us ,when we are exercising at Zumba. Especially when we have to wiggle our behinds! I remembered what you said about when you line dance on your own in the park. I told my friend and she was delighted. We are going to try to follow in your footsteps from now on:drinker:

I just gave my daughter my bank card and sent her out for some pizza. I really don't care tonight.

    Baby's First Doctor Visit

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the
doctor to come in for the baby's first exam. The doctor arrived, and
examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked
if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed.

    'Breast-fed,' she replied....

'Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered.
She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts
for a while in a very professional and detailed examination.

Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said, 'No wonder this baby is
underweight. You don't have any milk.'

'I know,' she said, 'I'm his Grandma, but I'm glad I came.'

Hello Sneakers ~ Another one of my quick visits between jobs. I've finally finished painting the bedroom. One wall behind the bed is a dark terracotta and it needed 2 coats which was a bit of a nuisance but it's done and I'm really pleased with the results. I've had a light lunch and coffee and am now heading out to the sunshine to begin strimming hedges along the boundary. It's such jobs that make me realise I'm not as fit as I'd like to be as it's taken me an hour to even think about it!!

Becky ~ I'm not an early person except circumstances dictate I must get up like it or not! I've been painting in the morning to allow it to dry before bedtime and keeps the afternoons free to do other tasks.

Deb ~ I think perhaps it comes across I'm more active than I really am. Although I retired a bit early in order to do what I wanted rather than being tied to a job I manage lots of leisure time too believe me. I hope you are enjoying the sunshine in Devon. That old St Swithen got it wrong this year didn't he!!!

Sandy ~ It seems Buzz's earlier comment could have been taken either way. You and I are perhaps just too worldly wise to have taken it the way we did.:wink:

Buzz ~ I've purchased chicken and other ingredients for the Greek dish and intend to cook it this evening. I dug up our crop of garlic from the allotment a couple of weeks ago so hopefully it's dried out enough for me to be able to use rather than from a jar. I have the other herbs growing in my garden so can't wait to taste it!

    P1020560.jpg

This was taken on the allotment yesterday evening. I seem to remember some of you asking for a photo when I first mentioned it! We were the only folk there out of over 50 plots and said they didn't know what they were missing!

And this is a photo of blue salad potatoes I dug up for use over the next few days. They really are dark blue and what we call Heritage potatoes in that it's an old variety that hasn't been around for years. Can't wait to taste!

    P1020562.jpg

It's no good, I can't put off the hedge trimming job a moment longer.

    A happy weekend to everyone.
    Take care
