Tour de France CHALLENGE!

I rode yesterday AND today! I went early today, learned my lesson from yesterday. Want to see what cycling has done for me? The gray t-shirt on the right is one of my favorites from last year. I still wear it to sleep in sometimes. The clothes on the right are my cycling clothes that I wear now. "One of these things is not like the others..."
Great job. I've dropped from 5X shirts to 3x shirts just this year, so I can relate.0 -
7-22 - Just road 11 miles / 56 minutes after dark tonight. Could not ride this morning, due to a schedule conflict...0
-
Got in 38 minutes / 10 miles for 7/22.0
-
Rode 21 miles this morning; at 462 for the month. Keep up the great riding everyone; stay cool out there.0
-
Didn't ride yesterday 7/23 or Thursday 7/22 due to work schedule. I'd be up for a Vuelta Challenge! I plan on getting in a ride and swim today.
@tetedelacourse.. What a great picture! It's nice to have that clear visualization of all your hard work. Congrats!!! :drinker:0 -
I'm up for a Vuelta challenge too!
Skywalker: Thank you! It definitely put it in perspective for me.0 -
Friday 22nd...in for the minimum with ride around town in the fixie
(basically a shakedown ride after swapping brakes levers/cables)
In for later today with the work commute.0 -
Who rode today, 7/23?
Tete stole my grey t-shirt! HAHAHAHA! Somewhere (on a back up drive, probably) I still have a photo of me at 270 pounds (7 or 8 years ago). Scary.
How do I post a photo?
I did the hilly neighborhood loop three times today and finished 1:30 faster than the previous best from a few days ago. WOOT! Then, I drove the team car while Mr. Wonderful climbed a near by 9 mile mountain, twice. He's nuttier than I am! I'd post a picture to prove it but I don't know how...
Be careful out there! It's way too hot.
Have a great RAGBRAI, hawkeyegal!
I have love love loved this Tour de France, this year!

By the way, I'm thinking of doing a similar challenge during the Vuelta Espana (August 20 to September 11), also known as the Tour of Spain.0 -
7/22- Went for about a 45 minute ride this morning. Just enough to hit 2,000 training miles for the season.
Here's what my riding will look like for the next week on RAGBRAI.
Day 1: 59.5 miles with 4298 feet of climbing
Day 2: 65.4 miles with 4719 feet
Day 3: 70.9 miles with 1787 feet
Day 4: 56.1 miles with 1147 feet
Day 5: 57.5 miles with 3202 feet
Day 6: 74.9 miles with 2681 feet
Day 7: 65.6 miles with 2363 feet
I am not even going to bother trying to track what I eat this week.....part of the tradition is eating as much as you ride!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!0 -

In for a 1/2 mile swim today, but planning on either riding or rumming later. Did lots of yardwork yesterday and didn't get out on my bike. I know... excuses, excuses....0
-
2.5 hours today. I'm beat but it was worth it. A cute Middle Eastern kid at the c-store thought I was 29 or 30. I'm 47. I asked him to marry me. :-D0

Survived day one of RAGBRAI. Ended up riding about 66 miles in about 5 hours and 20 minutes. Lots of hills but they didn't seem to cause me too much trouble. It was pushing a heat index around 100 when I got off the bike so I need to try and get out earlier tomorrow. Saw one crash today unfortunately.
Take care!0 -
Who rode today, 7/24? Anyone? Anyone?
How do I post a photo?
I watied until 7pm to ride. Had to wait on the temp to get down to 99. Yuck. Did a hard-ish hour on flat-ish roads (of course I always have to climb up the hill to get home...). Averaged 12.4 on the heavy hybrid in neighborhood/urban riding. Not bad for an old fat woman. )
Be careful out there! It's way too hot.

I did ride on the 23rd...haven't you noticed yet I have a problem remembering the date :laugh:0
-
I rode tonight. 12 miles on the 24th. 488 for the month. Glad to see everyone else is doing well. We actually had nice cool weather for riding tonight for a change.0
-
I'm in for 45 minutes / 11.5 miles for 7/24.
Yay!0 -
In for Sunday the 24th.....
15.5 miles...about a 65 minute ride home from work tonight0 -
Road 20 this morning, for a monthly total of 508. Headed out camping this week, so I won't get to ride again tonight. Going to try to catch some catfish instead. Back on the wheels tomorrow. New trails to explore at the lake.0

Half the time I have no idea what day it is. Summer is like that for me. Which is gooooooooooooooooooooooood. )0 -
Y'all are awesome! I can't believe the Tour de France is over. I always get a little depressed when it ends! )
I rode 30 miles of neighborhoods this morning. Longest ride this year so far. WOOHOO! I really need to switch to the road bike, though, if I'm going to ride that far. I might start riding the road bike more when the sensors arrive for the new Garmin (it only came with one set and we put them on the hybrid). I've ordered them (three days ago) but the delivery is estimated at July 28-Aug 2. Sheesh. I don't think they get in a hurry to ship! It's some amazon based seller (garmin.com was out of stock completely).
So, y'all keep up the cycling and keep posting if you want, as well. We'll start a new Challenge on August 20th to coincide with the Vuelta a Espana (Tour of Spain) which is also 21 days of riding in 23 days, usually, just like the Tour de France.
Have a great camping trip, TD!

Day 2 of Ragbrai is in the books....I don't think I have ever climbed that much. I kept thinking to myself that I must be crazy to try something like this. Rode 65 miles in 5 hours. Tomorrow has a lot less hills but the temps rise so we trade one torture for another!0
