It's tough getting through this stage, but after a week or 2 (it took 2 weeks for me!), you'll feel so much more energized! Your body just hasn't figured out that it needs to be burning fat now. Give it time. :flowerforyou:

If you're having low-grade headaches, those tend to disappear after a week or so as well.

My husband just went deep sea fishing and came back with 32 lbs (!) of fresh yellowtail tuna! I found this recipe that is to die for. Instead of sweet relish, I just use the same amt of dill relish, and a small sprinkle of Splenda to sweeten it up (hardly takes any at all). It is dangerously good. I left out the dill weed since I couldn't find mine.

    Barbie's Tuna Salad (from Allrecipes.com)

1 (7 ounce) can white tuna, drained and
    flaked
    6 tablespoons mayonnaise or salad
    dressing
    1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
    3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1/8 teaspoon dried minced onion flakes
    1/4 teaspoon curry powder
    1 tablespoon dried parsley
    1 teaspoon dried dill weed
    1 pinch garlic powder

    Directions:
    1. In a medium bowl, stir together the tuna, mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and onion flakes. Season with curry powder, parsley, dill and garlic powder. Mix well and serve with crackers or on a sandwich.

Been a busy few days. After having the scale creep up on me I'm back down and even lost a half lb which at this point is a great thing. I feel the 140's coming and can't wait to make that 100 lb lost goal I have in mind. Hope you all have a safe and happy labor day weekend. God Bless our troops.

    You and me, both!
I wish there was a way that MFP could track Net Carbs in our diary setting instead of just carbs. It would make my life a lot eaiser. (Sigh) Sorry, just need to vent that ;)

Sounds yummy! Eat with celery sticks instead of crackers or bread for very little carbs.

I've never owned the book, so I can't provide an opinion. Everything I've needed has been on the website. Including what you can eat in each phase. Zucchini is allowed in Phase one, but has 2 grams of carbs per 1/2 cup serving, so not so much of it.

If you can get the latest get that then cruise over to your local thrift store or used book and buy Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution for less than a dollar. This way you can compare both.

Hey is it ok to eat the protein bars by Atkins yet? I burn so many cal at the gym I'm trying to eat some back. I used to use carbs ha ha ha

With Atkins you don't have to worry about eating back exercise calories or even counting calories.

You just eat when your hungry and don't eat when your not.

As for those bars and shakes - I don't advise eating any processed foods.

Grokette is right, don't worry about eating your excercise calories back! After a hard workout, I like to have a piece of cheese and a slice of deli smoked ham. The bars don't effect me, and I have one every night, but I've heard they can hinder your weight loss. The Atkins book says if you're plateuing, you should eliminate the bars.

That's not good. Are you eating enough? True, Atkins isn't for everyone. Maybe try cutting down the white stuff (bread, rice, sugar, pasta) instead of completely cutting them out?

Do you ordinarily have issues with your blood sugar? Mine is naturally pretty low and I haven't had any problems, even when I was doing induction for a few months straight.

How often do you eat? If you're eating three meals per day, try eating more small meals throughout the day so that you're eating every 2-3 hours. Snack on nuts, cheese, hard boiled eggs, etc. That should keep your blood sugar from dropping too low.

I've read somewhere that some people who are pre-diabetic, especially those who ate a high carb diet before switching, can have that problem because their bodies are so used to being fed sugar all of the time that the insulin response causes the low blood sugar episodes at first when switching to a low carb diet. Eventually, it'll stop. But in the meantime, eating more often will help.

Ginny- you need to see your doctor and have an A1C if your blood sugar is dropping like that. It will tell your doctor your ratio of insulin to glucose over the past few weeks up to 3 mo. You may need to step down your carbs and eat more veggies or even just move to phase two and increase your carbs some- I would suggest all veggies and lower carb fruits though and not grains they spike your blood sugar too much which is your issue to begin with. Hope you feel better!

Went to the doctor yesterday (weightloss specialist strong advocate for Atkins/Primal) and he did a body comp and compared it to my last one in July to find what was going on since I was smaller but weighed more- he said my fat percentage went down, muscle went up and fluid was way up ugh where are you darn WF???? Definitely talk with your doctor. Do you take diabetes medication? You need your A1C checked, because eating low carb is leveling out your insulin levels. No spikes means you can and will do this again especially if you're on meds.

That sounds like a fun challenge. I'm going to have to pass, unfortunately :( I can't do without my protein shakes on those bad RA days when I can't cook. Good luck though!

I don't know what that is, and I'm not Paleo/Primal? I'll check out your thread!
