Yesterday was my 1st Fast it was good but yes 15 & half hour was really longgg hehe
Ok tell me sth I did try to start the challenge 114 Miles hehehe
I could hardly do 1.6K that means 1 Mile Right?
& my Treadmill showed me Distance:1.6, Speed 5K, Cal 110 & Minutes 23:embarassed:
How was it?I mean is it ok & do U think my treadmill shows the right amount of Cal as I think it should be more than 110 should be around 200
& I feel 3.8 for one day is too much in this situation :brokenheart:0 -
Sister .. it depends how high your heart rate was .. i mean on a " regular " 60 min workout i burn betw. 450-620 kcls but with this snail paste .. im' hardly getting 288 kcls in 60 minutes.. that's just about my warm up .. but hey -it's something. Like one of the trainers told me - you doing more than most people in your situation. The gym was empty- this is a women's gym and usually out of 10 members there are abot 5-6 muslims .. but today.. not a single person. Most of them have frozen their accounts for the whole month . So they won't see a gym or a treadmill -at all. I hardly doubt they will do it at home , most of them are doing half way workouts on regular days when they have trainers pushing them.. don' think they will do any better at home ..
so - don't look at it as " oh.. it's a lot.. and i did so little etc " that won't get us anywhere.
the 114 is just a " focus number " .. something to strive for.. but nobody said you have to reach it. It's a wish/ goal.. hope
whatever you achieve - is better than 0 . And i was c omplaining on my way out of the gym.. " ughhh.. 288 kcls.. that's it ? A trainer said - that's a nice small meal you jus burned off. Always try to look positive. Remember this is " only " fo 30 days.. after this we can hit it full speed again .
Btw - i hope this little group we have established here - will stay connected after Ramadan too i would love to have you all and keep challangin and helping each other.
My " main " trainer caught me today at the gym.. and asked me " are you losing the weight ( she wants me to lose 5 lbs each week for next 3 weeks ) .. uhm.. my scale showed today i was 2 lbs up . She takes no excuses..
I have a lack of sleep.. sleep deprevation, interrupted sleep..

so .. all my " excuses " lead to her .. answer " so.. who is to blame ? Basically telling me i need to get more organized, prepared.. and better planning my meals. so if nothing she brought me back to "r eality " .. i was away from the gym for 4 days and allready started slipping away with my focus.
I will keep posting my daily status here - just so i can see each day how much/ or how litte i'm doing
you all can do the same - to keep an eye on your own progress but maybe to get some " push " if we see other member doing more- you k now - humans are co mpetitive

ps.. you see sister- the difference in the time and kcls burned between day one and day two ? .. Day one i woke up bef. suhur and was able to jog on 4.5 /5mph for a few minutes .. - today i did it at 10 am - and my " s peed " was 2.8-3.2 mph.. i tried not to get sweaty and after 30 min took a short brea to " cool off " than continued.. - than had a 60 min stretch class - felt soo good to stretch.
Today i'm planning to be more patient at iftar. ...0 -
The only way to tell ur calories if they are correct would be if u had a HR monitor and that way you could tell according to your weight/height and personal profile how many calories you have burned that will be your closest estimate.
Ramadan Alhamdulilah is going good, its so much easier when u dont have to leave your house, its easier when you have A/C in the car, in the masjid in the house......at the end of the day you still have food, you are happy for iftar, you try to make best food you can...but i also keep remembering our brothers and sisters in Somalia, those mothers that have to leave their sick child in the desert, to save her healthier child....keep thinking of those brothers and sisters that will not have nothing for iftar...its hard and i think what did i do that GOD gave me everything i have......THANK GOD, and i will be praying for those that dont have food tonight to break their fast with...may GOD help them...life is so unfair, and unjust one country takes all the resources because they are powerful and the other has no clean water....just so unfair but i guess we have to learn from all these examples and God gave them to us for a reason...anyways i am trying to make at least little food, so that we FEEL ramadan....i am going to try to eat very little, its hard, but i will try to , at least to have a feeling how our brothers and sisters feel. Salam (peace) to everyone and please pray for peace in this world....

good morning everyone
my headache finally eased around midnight after some migraine pills i must get more water in the few hours between fast as i dont think its helping my head any so i drank a litre of low calorie tonic water i cant stand plain water so next best thing also had some fruit juices at iftari
today im not sure what to make i know there will be fruits so far the only samosas etc hubby has had are what people have sent because there meat i had none and i havent made any because we are both trying to lose weight so fruit dates a healthy meal i do have lentils left over so that is a possible but id love any ideas for a healthy veggie meal
sehri i have started having a diet drink it has all vitamins etc needed and its made with skimmed milk so some calcium hoping the vitamin boost and extra fluids will help keep headaches at bay
i do agree with an earlier post the not going out is making it easier i just wish i had ac too its so humid here and because cat is new we cant open windows wide or open the door so its very stuffy still probably less hot and humid than african countries.0 -
Just don't know where to fit in some exercise? I have some time when i get back from work at 6.30 but feel too exhausted to exercise then especially due to the sleep deprevation, fasting tarawees etc.0

it's not easy.. everybody is sleep deprived and tired- working or no working the fast itself gets too you. lack of water + lack of sleep + all this heat everywhere is exhausting. So none of us have it easy. but we are all trying to fit some exercise in.
you have few options
wake up even earlier - and workout bef. suhur
workout during the day- ( light - such as light walking etc )
before iftar .. you can hit it a little harder since you won't have to wait to long for water
after iftar /before isha prayer
after isha prayer ..
my alarm didn't go off at 2:20 like i set it so i missed my workout again- so i have to go to the gym again and do walking instead of the planed running .0 -

since I am on a long vacation i have the freedom of managing the time so I am doin the treadmill late night before Qiyyam Ul Lail
Though to tell u the truth I couldnt even drag myself aftr Iftar until aftr 3/4 hours to the treamill hehe it's Hard but Yesss WE WILL DO IT !!! so lets GEAR UP!!!0 -
Man I can't Imagine doing the 30 day shred while fasting. Currently I do it after iftaar, which is working well for me. Last night I was sweating buckets, this heat is ridiculous. I don't go to taraweeh because it ends around 1am over here and I need to get up for work, so instead I just wake up 45mins earlier in the morning to pray qiyaam. On the weekends I will go to taraweeh and maybe try a before suhoor workout to shock my body and change it up.
I would recommend everyone try Udo's oil, I have been taking it while fasting and it is really helping with my energy level. I read reviews before buying it and was pleased. It has a lot great health benefits...will let you know what happens in a month with it.0 -
Originally I had thought I would be able to workout everyday but with 4 kids to manage I wind up choosing between working out or sleep. I'm going to aim for at least 3 days a week working out. Alh so far I've been keeping within my calorie allotment so that's good.0

yep - my family really loves this type of recipes- sow cooker- chicken breast with tomato etc.. and than all type of veggies/olives/ avocado/cilantro etc.. as topping on the chicken - i love the combo of tomato/ onions/and cilantro - just the smell of this 3 together mmmm.. and than some avocado with garlic and greek yogurt or sour cream . yumm
anyways.. today at the gym i got a great tip and it worked sooooo good for me. So i want to share. Since we can't drink- 30-60 min before you go to walk or workout - put a wet towel in your freezer - and use it to cool your face- put it on your eyes/cheeks- and esp. arround neck.. i used it today and i was able to work twice as hard than yeserday. Loved it.
My gym gives me the option to call 1 -2 hours before i get there and they will put the towels in the freezer for me .. but you can do it at home too. Try it out. The towel was no good when frozen completely - but actually just super cold -still moist that was the best.0 -

today i did a total of 60 min of workout - after eliptical - did some weights and leg exercises.. burned a total of 500 kcls .. so much better than yesterday..that cold towel helped me big time.0 -

Not a good day in terms of food choices I made. I ate rice and didn't measure it. I hope not more than a cup. So I tried to compensate at sahoor with just oatmeal and very less water n loads of tea despite of all the sweats coming outta bad weather 2.5 cups of water n 3 cups of tea0

one was that recipe i posted, it was so good and filing i added 1 cup of brown rice, and 1 cup of the santa fe chicken , and i couldn't eat it all!!!

Today is my first day of being able to fast, alhamdulillah. I drank my normal protein shake with a litlle extra protein powder and tried to finish a bowl of oatmeal but could only get in about 3/4 of it before feeling like I was about to burst! I drank 5 cups (40 oz.) of water. Insha'Allah this day goes well. I've been too tired to exercise the last 2 days so congrats to those of you still managing to get it done!0

Thanks Boskana!! Managed to go to the gym last night before iftaar...but had a huge headache and dizziness afterwards (i think i maybe over did the exercises - 15 min stepper, 20min treadmill and 12 min bike. Although, felt much better after iftaar but extremely exhausted. I think i'll give today a miss and try again on friday.0

i did so well food choice wise.. and than - since yesterday i had cravings for a " banana split " i didn't have an ice cream in who knows how long can't remember.. but it just wouldn't go away.. so i gave in and had it .. with 1/4 banana and blue bell ice cream ( 3 diff kind - a spoon of each .. i mean a " mini ball " - than whip cream and choc syrup on top.. i'm not proud of it- but it's done and now i have to move one.. and the bad part is - it's weigh in day with my trainer today- and my weigh in for mfp is tomorrow .. expecting to be up .
how's every one else0 -

yeah .. i know.. but you don't know my trainer.. she is a mean chick.. really.. !!! No i can't tell her what i ate last night.. i mean she will have a fit.. she will be so angry and disapp. she might actually quit on me.. nope this is my lil secret..
... nope.. don't know why i gained.. not sure .. .. "..
but here - take it from my experience.. it was nice while i ate it... but when i was done- i just felt loaded and heavy.. had to go straight to sleep ! woke up with a weired feeling of bloated and hungry at the same time- the ice cream completely confused me - wasn't a nice experience really.

Yumm Banana Split, can't remember if I've ever had a banana split. My desert is three pieces of two bite macaroons.
I can't keep water down...it fills me up that I can't even eat properly. I try to get in about five 500ml bottles(3 at iftaar and 2 at Suhoor) but because of the short period of time I end up drinking it quickly and thus causing me to get bloated.
I need to eat more greens!!! So far I've only had a salad and 4 broccoli pieces in the past three days...Aaargh
TOM is coming it seems which is earlier than normal...I was actually hoping to have it while on the second level of 30 day shred as that level is intense and I wanted to be not fasting all day when I do that level...oh well I guess no choice.0 -

Aug 2 - 2 x 20 mins walk (to and from station to work)
Aug 3- 2 x 20 mins walk, stepper 15mins, treadmill, 20 mins and bike 12 mins
Aug 4- 2 x 20 mins walk
As far as food is concerned, i had a really wobbly start, and still have a wobble here and there but aiming to eat fruits to break my fast and then my regular evening meal instead of over doing the snacks. Problem is i really feel like something sweet after my meal and ended up eating a whole Bounty bar last might (aaaarrrrgh!!)

same here.........it feels me up so quickly that my stomach hurts after, and i have trouble praying, so what i did last night, i was drinking less at iftaar and more at suhoor...i guess we just have to be ok with the less water this month, you cant make ur self sick from water!! I am not going to, i am just going to listen to my body and give it water as much as my body feels like having and not force myself.0 -
Oh i am still in.....i haven't gotten to exercise, i keep saying i will after terawih but i am so tired that i give in and go to sleep, i cant wake up early i am not a early person for exercise....so that is out, but i will try tonight to go for a walk finish preparing food earlier, and go for a walk......so i am going to make my calendar on the bottom and just update it periodical...
