Loree - after seeing that on Thursday night on The Office, my husband calls me Ryan every time I drop to the floor to do a pushup...which then makes me laugh & I kick him out of the room b/c I can't do pushups laughing. I love that your dh is calling you a Hot Mama! How cute is he?
Marla - I'm doing okay with the sweets challenge. I had cake this weekend b/c of Micah's b.day party, but not as much as I normally would have. I didn't have any pie & I only had a couple bits of apple crisp b/c I cannot resist apple crisp. :blushing: Doing okay, just not 100%. I need to stick to this through the new year, too b/c otherwise this holiday season is going to be tough. I make a lot of candies for gifts for the holidays & having them in the house is DANGEROUS! I'm glad I'm not the only one in this world that can't sew, too.
MM - You'll hit your pushup goal! I know you can. You've come SO far with it that I would be shocked if you backed down now. Hop back on board! Good luck with the therapists this week!
I'm not sure what this week is going to bring. We ended up having to take Floyd (our coonhound, the one I've been talking about) to the vet on Friday afternoon & he's still there. The vet called us at 11:45 last night to tell us that things are going in reverse. He was getting better, but last night he was back to bad & was worse than when I brought him in. They're clueless right now as to what is wrong with him. He's lost 9# since the end of Sept. & he was only 55# to begin with. The boys are wandering around asking about him at random times during the day & it is just breaking my heart. *sigh* I just need some answers as to what way this is going. So much for Invisible Fence, huh?
I'll check in with y'all later. Have happy & healthy Mondays!0 -
Howdy all you mommies out there this monday morning..Well I am so dang irrated:mad: I weighed this morning and the scales have mad me so mad..lol I'm back up to 196 I was 193..But I think some of it maybe the dt dews I'm drinking I try not to buy them but my bf gets me one everytime he gets his coffee..But then again I think some of it maybe muscle cuz I've been doing alot of work around my house and alot of errands so that means alot of walking..I dont know I'm just really irritated:explode: I mean my clothes are still to big and I feel like my stomach is getting smaller. My bf even noticed when he was holding me in bed lol..He's like "Are you shrinking".. I'm sorry I'm ranting but I just dont understand it..Ohh and I also found on my DirectTV that there is a fitness channel and they have workouts of all kinds all day..So now I can Tivo them and workout to them anytime which is cool..I hope everyone else is doing well metting there goal..Have a great Monday ladies..:flowerforyou:
Dana0 -
Oh, Dana. I'm sorry. I'm finding that diet pop really screws with my body, too. You'll get there. You're doing so great already! Don't lose sight of that. Your bf obviously sees a difference! :flowerforyou:
Tell me how that DirectTV fitness channel works out for you. My husband & I have rabbit ears on our tv right now & need to get cable or something when the digital transition happens so I'm looking at all the pros & cons of the options.0 -
Good morning,
3BB, sorry to hear about your dog. I hope they figure things out soon!
Dana, the weight gain could very well be from sodas and/or muscle! Don't get discouraged! I gained three pounds back last week so it happens. It will start to come off again.
I usually weigh in on Mondays but I am definitely not doing it today! I pigged out again this weekend, partly because I eat when I am sick, but mostly because there was good food around. I am back to "dieting" today. I want to make sure the scale has dropped by Friday when I weigh in. I'm still sick and not getting better. I'm debating on going to the doctor but I don't want to "waste" money on that, know what I mean? I just want to know that I don't have walking pneumonia or bronchitis or something.
As far as exercise today I am going to try to go for a walk with Alex (probably a slow one again) and try to do my push ups. Other than that I am taking it easy.
I hope you all have a good day!
MM
PS the cake went out the door with Hubby this morning. It's so hard for me but I'm glad it's gone. Now I just need to dump out the extra buttercream icing in the fridge. I'll be okay. :laugh:0 -
Hi girls. I am super sad to report that Baby Mack has his first cold. He woke up early Sunday morning with it... about 4am. His poor little nose is all snotty and his eyes are kind of red. One of my girlfriends is a nurse and she advised me to get a humidifier and alternate baby motrin and baby tylenol every 4 to 6 hours. He is sleeping in the bouncy chair which has a bit of an angle upward to it, so it seems to help. I just feel so bad. He's been spitting up quite a bit, too, but she said that's all par for the course. No fever... so that's good. We're leaving for Seattle on Saturday (live in Orlando), so I'm praying it's all better by then. Needless to say... no gym for me today. I'll be taking care of the little man.
If anyone has any tips, please share. He's just so sweet... I feel terrible.0 -
Katie - lots of cuddles. :frown: Poor baby. I hate baby colds. They're so sad. Your friend's advice is about all you can do. I was just telling my husband that I want to go to Seattle next year, but it probably won't be happening for another 2 years. The kids are just too little. Take care of that little man!
MM - don't wait too long to go to the dr. if you think you're sick! You don't want that nastiness to get too bad. Get back on the pushup wagon! Oh, and I'll get rid of my excess buttercream when you do. It is like my saftey net right now. LOL I figure if something really bad happens to the dog, I'll be tearing the house apart looking for stress food so I don't break down in front of the kids. I'm such a baby.0 -

I''m sorry about your dog. Isn't it funny how something that can drive you completely crazy still is such a big part of the family? My husband realized how much he loves our little dog, Luey, when she ate a cold pill this summer and we had to rush her to the pet e.r. He was crying while racing there. (Luckily she was fine.)
P.S. Happy birthday to your little bean!0 -

I weigh myself several times a week. (I know that's bad.) If I'm up a little one day, I treat it as if I didn't weigh in that day. I wait a few days until it's a loss or at least a maintain before I count it. :bigsmile:0 -

I'm sorry your little one is sick. That's no fun at all. Are you flying to WA? Is this Mack's 1st trip?0 -

Yes, first trip. He'll be 11 weeks old on Wednesday and my husbands family all live in Seattle. We're flying in on Saturday for Thanksgiving. We live in Orlando, so it's a super long flight!!! I'm breast feeding, though, and everyone seems to think he'll be fine if I just nurse him through take off and landing. I am praying his cold is all the way cleared up by then!0 -
3BB-I hope everything turns out ok with your little furry friend They do get to be such a big part of our (and our kids) lives! And a big happy birthday to your little guy!!
MM-Im so sorry to hear your still not feeling well:sick: Hasnt it been like almost a week now for you? Maybe you should see that dr....Just to be sure it isnt something more serious at least.
Katie-Its terrible when the little bundles are sick! Just makes you feel so sad for them and helpless! I hope he gets to feeling better before your trip this weekend:flowerforyou:
Well ladies, not much going on with me today. The usual cardio and today is one of my strength training days. Other than that, the water, the multivitamin, the eating right, etc etc Its so chilly outside today, Im thinking about maybe popping in a dvd to workout to instead of hitting the sidewalks lol. We went yesterday (my partner and our 2 teenage boys) and played some basketball at the local park...talk about a workout! They beat us and made us look "our age" lol but it was a great time! Just makes me more ready for the re-match this weekend....:grumble:
Have a wonderful day ladies!:drinker:

Nursing will be a great help during the flight. It'll help his little ears pop if he's sucking. Just my 2 cents. Have a fun trip!0 -
Roni - it is COLD today here, too. I think the high is supposed ot be 38. I'm not ready for that crap. :P Sounds like you had a fun weekend, though!
I just got off the phone with the vet & he said that ding dong is going into exploratory surgery within the hour. The latest set of x-rays is "suggestive" of an obstruction so the next step is to see if that is really what it is or not. I hope it is something simple like that b/c I really don't want to make any decisions today about whether or not a dog should live. We shall see. Thanks for all your kind words, girls. I really appreciate it.0 -
Good morning, ladies--
Sorry to hear of the woes this morning-- babies sick, dogs sick, weight not budging-- Sara, this would be the time that I'd typically make a joke about how I wish my dog was on his death bed-- but, I'll refrain. I joke all the time about how I can't wait for him to be gone, gone, gone-- hubby predicts I'll cry the hardest. We shall see. I'm not a pet lover, but I've come to appreciate the devotion people do get to their animals. Hope Floyd is on the mend soon--
Diet Pop? Now I know you're REALLY from Ohio. Yowsa-- I haven't heard that in a while. It used to be pop for me, too until I moved to New Jersey when I was 5-- now I'm a Jersey girl, and it's "soda."
I stay away from all that stuff-- even though there's no calories, I know it does mess with the body-- and the fake chemical "sugar" crap-- nuh-uh-- not coming anywhere near me.
Cold as heck here-- our heat isn't working yet. Blower broke on the ac/furnace beginning of June-- we had no central air all summer, and now no heat. The furnace turns on and produces the heat, but the blower can't distribute it through the house-- and we can't afford to fix it. Should be an interesting winter.
A sick, snurgly infant is just about the saddest sight there is-- especially when they're trying to nurse and can't breathe. I had to suck out Caleb's boogies in the night so he could nurse. He LOVED that. NOT. Katie, hang in there-- just hug him and love him-- that's always the best medicine.
My eldest went down to Rutgers University today for a walk around the campus. He has been accepted and is going to check it out. He's applied a couple different places-- he'll end up going to the place that gives him the most financial aid. Coming from a family of 11 with unemployed father and part time typing mother-- surely SOME college will have mercy on the lad.
Boy, do I want to *****-- there-- I said it-- even with the B word. :grumble:
Oh well-- heading to work-- negativity gets us nowhere, except towards more negativity-- my faith is weak and I'm grumbling to the Lord big time these days-- must strive to remember the blessings I have, which are many.
Sighhhhhh--
Have a good day all--0 -
Thanks for the well wishes for the stupid dog. Zeke just told Micah that he was a bad dog, so the kids are picking up on my drama today. LOL
Marla - I'll keep you & your family in my prayers...still. I'm sorry it has been so hard lately. God will provide & he has great plans for you. It's that darn time line again. Maybe you & the clan should pack up & move to Ohio. We don't have jobs here but we can ***** together. Then, I can get you back on track calling it POP again. :noway: Soda...whatever. I actually usually call it soda pop b/c I think it sounds fantastic, but everyone makes fun of me. LOL
How could you say no to this face?

Cute dog, 3BB! Keep us up to date.
I finally did my push ups and got out more than I thought I would but I was 16 short from a week ago. I'll get it back. Just hope I can still make my goal. I'm not going to do any cardio today. I don't know about doing it when I have a chest cold, or whatever it is. I hope I can get back to it soon though. It's a major part of my weight loss, obviously. I did get back to cleaner eating this week. I hope to clean it up even more next week. I think I will drop a little this week if I am careful. At least maybe I will get back to pre-cake weight. LOL
Be back later!
MM0 -
Wowzers, it's good to know I'm not the only one having a case of the Mondays!
3BB sorry to hear about the dog. I hope everything turns out for the better, not the worse.
Katie I'm sorry to hear your baby has a cold. My daughter (4 months) has had 2 colds already. Humidifiers and have them sleep at an angle works. I think her colds lasted about a week each so hopefully your little man will be over it or on the end of it by the time you fly.
MM-I totally understand not want to "waste" money on the doctor. I don't have a normal doc so I had to go to an urgent care just to get a Rx for my asthma inhaler, cost me $100! I wanted to be sick by the time I paid the bill. I hope you get better soon.
Roni-sorry to hear about cold weather. Luckily we are having 50-55 degree weather still with makes it just warm enough to still get my 2 mile walk in everyday. The fitness channel sounds like it could be interesting. I wish I had something like that to give my workout some variety.
Marla-No heat??? Oh my. We only run the heat when it's below 45 outside (usually at night) right now to save money. When I get cold during the day I go into our computer room, with two computers running it usually stays pretty warm in there
Okay now if you don't mind I'm going to vent for a moment. I got up this morning prepared to workout because I've really been slacking lately. I ate breakfast, nursed the baby and then changed into my workout clothes. I started my workout and not even 10 minutes in the baby is fussing and my son is laughing at me. Well there goes my motivation. So I pause the dvd, try to settle the baby, send my son into the other room and try again. Daughter doesn't want to cooperate so I shut everything off. Now 3 hours later, son is on his way to school, daughter is asleep and I'm going to try again. I don't know about you guys but I have to get my workout done in the morning. I just hate to get ready for the day and then workout in the afternoon and evening and have to shower and "get ready" again. I like to get up eat, exercise and shower and be done with it for the day.
Anyway thanks for letting me vent. :drinker: Here's to a better afternoon....cuz if it doesn't get better I will be drinking by the end of the day :laugh:0 -
MM-Have you seen the magazine Clean Eating?? I don't really know what I was expecting but I was impressed with it. Easy to follow recipes, shopping lists for their recipes, a months worth of menus, great articles...it was amazing. I can't wait to try some of the recipes.0

The vet just called. 2.5 hours of surgery later, it looks like Floyd will live to see another day...as long as things keep going well. He ate one of my husbands socks & it got lodged in his small intestine which then caused another condition further down his intestine. 2 incisions & another couple days in the doggy hospital & he'll be ready to come home. The vet is worried about him for the 12-24 hours to make sure that he comes out of the anesthesia okay & that he's strong enough to fight any infection that may creep up. *sigh* I'm ready to cry & puke now.
MM - at least you got in the pushups! Keep working at it this week & you'll be back to good by next week.
Lyn - I was having the same problem about working out in the morning. I just finally gave up. If it is a day where I know we'll be home all day, I try to get it in in the morning but if not, I just do it during nap time & then take a shower afterwards. Not my ideal workout, but at least I get it in. Another thing I do is sometimes take my am shower & then workout at the end of the day after everyone is in bed. Then I take a nice, long, hot bath by myself, slip on my jammies & then I can relax the rest of the night...or fold laundry & do more dishes. Either way. My babies always got colds really young, too! Zeke had his first ear infection at 10 weeks & Tabitha had one at 6 weeks. Micah was born, well today actually (LOL), and his first winter was a dozy with all the colds that Zeke was coming down with. Poor kiddos. :frown:0 -

3BB, I had to smile about the sock. I know it's not funny. I'm glad it was nothing more serious but sorry you had to go through so much. So is that where all the socks disappear when you do laundry? I'm sorry I couldn't pass it up. My Granny had a beagle once that ate through aluminum cans and ate her pin cushion. Ouch!
I sure hope everyone gets to feeling better and has a better Tuesday!
MM0 -
Need to vent momentarily...

My daughter has done nothing but cry and eat (I breast feed) all day. The short little nap she did take I managed to get my workout in FINALLY. My son is being a little sh** and has a terrible attitude. I'm at my wits end and my hubby just walks in to say that he's going shooting with his dad and leaving me alone with the kids for ANOTHER couple hours! AGH!!!!!....breathe in breathe out breathe in breathe out....at this point I'm not sure who to strangle :explode: :explode: :explode:0 -
MM - I laughed about it, too. A sock?! A freakin' sock?! Seriously, dog! I'm just glad it wasn't something horrible that I'd have to make a decision about & put a monetary amount on an animal. Thank God it was just a sock. I did tell the vet, "so THAT'S where that sock went." Luckily he knows me very well & knows that I was joking.
Lyn - Oh, sweetie. I'm sorry you're having a rough day. I'm a breastfeeder, too & days when they're just attached all day long get old. My daughter is teething right now & guess what her favorite thing to do is? OW! I hope your dh doesn't stay out too long. *hugs*
Tuesday will be a better day, ladies! Let's get some rest!0 -
I hear ya DM. Sorry things were crazy for you today. I hope tomorrow is better.
I am a little down tonight and really there's no one to blame but myself. One of my friends who was quite a bit heavier than me has been dieting for 6 months, and though she is a little taller than me she is now 2 sizes smaller than me and looks great. It's my own fault that I haven't stuck with the diet. It has motivated me to keep trying but I frustrated with myself that I haven't stuck with it. I would have been at my goal size in March if I would have stuck with the plan. Now it seems harder than ever. I just feel really down. So I decided to go ahead and log most of my food for tomorrow, thinking maybe that will motivate me more. I need a swift kick. Anybody need to let off some steam? I'll be okay. I just need to go to bed. I'm tired.
MM0 -
Bend over, MM...here comes your kick! Girl, you can do this! You know that! Don't be down on yourself. Just wake up tomorrow & decide that you will log all your food & all your exercise & see what your typical day looks like & you can modify it from there. *hugs* You are taking control of the pushups, take control of this, too! Tomorrow is a new day!0

I think Harley is getting ready to start teething. I know she's young (2 1/2 months) but my mom said my 1st tooth was at 4 months and that it'll take her a while once she starts.
But if we put our finger in her mouth, she'll start chomping down on it. And she's been drooling up a storm! She keeps choking on her drool and making this gasping noise that makes me nervous. I keep telling her, "Stop it! You're freaking me out!"0 -

Welcome to the group! My husband is never home either, unless it is to take a shower or eat something. He's a ghost. My baby boy just turned 2 today! This is a great group of girls & we're all very supportive of each other. I hope you feel welcome here! :flowerforyou:
Loree - I wouldn't put it past her to be teething already especially if your's came in at 4 months. My ped said that teething patterns are hereditary. My first one was right on schedule for all his teeth, but so far Micah & Tabitha are slooooow teethers. Micah was walking before he had his first tooth & then the one that came in was on top. He looked like a can opener. Good luck with that! Teething can be a pain!0 -
