Loree-At my daughters 4 month doc appt, our doc asked if she was starting to drool more...I guess that 4 months is normal to start teething??? I don't think she is yet...my son didn't get his first tooth until he was 10 months old. I'm hoping her teeth stay away at least that long...then I wont have to worry about her biting while I feed her :blushing:

MM-don't beat yourself up about the choices you have made. So maybe you wont make your goal weight by March, but then again you might. And never measure up to someone else, everyone's bodies are different, and we all lose weight differently. The important thing is that you are giving up. I understand you've been sick for some time but you've got to keep your eye on your goal and when you feel better jump right back on the wagon. I've been down and out for about 3 weeks now and every morning I get mad at the scale. AT THE SCALE....cuz you know it's the scales fault!! But the funny thing is WHY have I been expecting the scale to change when I've been eating like crap and not exercising??? I could be AT LEAST 6 lbs lighter today if I didn't waste the 3 weeks. But I needed to...I had to get myself in a better state of mind emotional than I was and now that I'm there....I'm back to countin calories and workin out. Sometimes we need time off and that's okay! Keep your head up and stay focused. BTW what is this push up thing you are doing?

OOOoooohhhh....Lyn. Now that you asked. It is actually a lot of fun, I've found. MM got me into it & I'm really enjoying my time doing it! hundredpushupchallenge.com. It is a program that's supposed to have you doing 100 consecutive pushups in 6 weeks. I know a lot of the people doing it are taking longer & I just started week3 so we'll see how the rest of the time goes. You should join us! There's a thread out there somewhere where the people are doing it are posting their progress. After I get my pushups in, I'll copy the thread & post it here. Lots of fun. You know you wanna!

Micah's 2year check up is this morning so we'll have lots of fun dragging everyone there & then listening to him cry when he gets shots. Ugh. So sad.

Today will be a better day, girls!

    Happy Birthday, Alex!!! :flowerforyou:

  • Ok, I have been in and out on the thread but I havent really been involoved. I usually have time to read most of the posts but rarely have time to comment or post one for myself. I hope I can find someway to make this work out for me. I am going to Cancun in mid-March so I really need to get a move on here...
My goal is to lose 15 lbs by then...is that reasonable?
Oh yeah I am looking for a good somewhat healthy chex mix to make. Any suggestions?
    Thanks and god bless!

Hey! How is everyone this fine morning? Okay so I'm not really that cheerful yet. Ha ha. I still can't shake this stuff I've had and TOM started. :grumble: But I am going to try to work out today anyway. And I am going to try to drink a ton of water too.
Happy birthday to my baby boy! Thanks 3BB for the picture of Mater! He liked that.
Loree, I hope your baby gets through her teething quickly. My son is three today and I think he still has a molar left to come in! He got his first one when he was ten months.
Lyn, join us at the push up challenge! It's fun! After even a week you will notice a difference and be motivated!
I've logged most of the food for the day, and I have to make the grocery lists today so it will be healthy since I am motivated and TOM hasn't gotten bad yet. LOL
Marla and 3BB, any ideas for snacks or "desserts" I can have while going through this week that don't count as sweets? I usually get a chocolate craving somewhere in there.
Here's to a new day! :drinker:

Good morning everyone. I am feeling stressed. My husband left in June - we have had many issues but my family has never accepted him and that was one of them. Now we are talking and trying to work on our issues but now my sisters husband has "warned" me that if I take him back my family probably won't talk to me anymore. I hate having people make me feel like I have to give up my family to have my family. NOT RIGHT!!!! Anyway, other than that things are going ok. Just what I need and my sixteen year old takes the two little ones to the school library while I workout. That works out perfect. Now to get back on track with the calorie counting. That hasn't been going so well.
Say, I have a question for anyone who might have some knowledge in the area. One of my daycare kids (1 1/2 years) comes in everymorning with a sippy cup of milk and I get the feeling that she has this cup refilled constantly with milk and is never without it as her mother gets a shocked reaction if she comes in the afternoon and it isn't filled for her to walk around with. I have found that she doesn't eat at meals very well so I have been denying the milk except at meals (without approval from Mom). Is it possible for a child to get too much milk?

Jawaria, I do taebo videos and Biggest Loser videos at home. The 30 day shred is really good and only takes 20 minutes. I used to walk a lot, but I haven't gotten kind of bored so I've been doing the videos. I don't know much about exercise machines so I can't help you there. I know the ladies on here will have some ideas though.
Guntherma, I'm sorry to hear what you are going through with your family. That's hard. I will pray for you that the Lord will give you wisdom and bring peace to your family. I think it is possible for a child to get too much milk, but that's up to the parents to decide that I guess. If she's not eating her meals, then it could very well be from getting to much to drink. Alex LOVES to drink and he would do it all day long if I let him, but then he won't eat.
I'm off to do fun things like dishes and laundry now. I think I will get some Taebo in today. Probably when Alex takes a nap.

I got a treadmill at Wal*Mart that folds up pretty small. You can also do things without excercise eqipment like pushups, situps, lift some soup cans instead of weights. Also you can get cheap workout tapes.

I don't know if there is a specific limit of milk a child should drink. But if they drink too much of any beverage, tthey aren't going to have enough room in their tummies for the food they need. So I would try to limit their milk to meals or with a snack. Just make sure to give them some water or something if they start looking thirsty. You don't want them to get dehydrated.

I only have a sec but will be back soon after the monsters are down. Too much milk = constipation!!!

MM- here's a recipe out of the Clean Living magazine that may help with your Chocolate cravings (I haven't tried it yet so if you try it let me know if its good)

    Peanut Butter Fudge Bars

    4 scoops chocolate protein powder
    2/3 c flax meal
4 T natural peanut butter, unsalted
    1/4 c water
Stevia or any other Clean Eating approved sweetener to taste

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, stir. At first it may seem like not enough water, but keep stirring, it will eventually become a sticky blob of dough, add 1 tbsp water at a time if needed.

Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and place in separate pieces of plastic wrap, shaping them into bars.

Store the bars in the fridge or freezer.

Now, Miss Dana. Didn't I just see that you've lost 70# in ONE year? That is SO good! You did kick that emotional eating habit, if you didn't you wouldn't be where you are today. You just need to remind yourself that isn't your habit any more. Is that benefit this weekend? Once the benefit is over, get back up on that horse, lady! You can do this...you HAVE done this! You just need to keep moving forward. You can vent here any time. We all do! :flowerforyou: Hang in there, girly!

LOL Loree, I love how you typed it "Wal*Mart" complete with the star in the middle. You crack me up.

anyways, Jawaria, have you seen the Walk Away the Pounds dvds? Those are supposed to be anywhere from 2-3 miles of walking in one video. She shakes it up & you don't just march in place & there's some resistance training, too. You could always buy one of those steps that just slides under a bed & do step-ups & soup can curls while you're watching tv. Try going to the library & see if they have any workout dvds. Sometimes you can get lucky there, too. And if you want to buy them, check out eBay. That's where I do all my best shopping. HTH! Btw, your boys are tooooo cute! Love the dark hair!

Stacy - You can do 15# by March. That's a little over 1# a week I believe. I know you can do it! Good to see you in here! Like I've said, if my laptop wasn't at the kitchen table, I'd never have adult contact. LOL As for the chex mix, I can't find one that is low cal. allrecipes.com has one that looks REALLY good, but the calories are out of control & i think there's corn syrup in it...other than that, it looks great. If you're interested it is the apples & cinnamon one. What do you need Chex Mix for?

What about sugar-free chocolate pudding? i don't like to over-use sugar free stuff b/c it is normally laced with aspartame, but once in awhile isn't too bad. Hhhmmmm...what about trail mix? Raisins, nuts, pretzels. I'll have to think some more. I hope you & Alex have a super good day!
  • I was asked to bring chex mix to a holiday party and I figured if I could find a somewhat healthy idea it would be easier for me. Thanks for the encouragement. I started the hundred push up challenge today (i tested and i could do 20 pushups on my knees because I have sensitive wrists). I can still feel my arms shaking. Have a great day!

Stacy that's great! 20 pushups to begin with is awesome! When I started, I could only do 3 on my knees! Good job!

I'll keep thinking about the chex mix. There's got to be a healthy option for that...

    Clover-here's a couple I found online.

    Healthy Chex Mix

6 cups popcorn -- no added butter, air popped or low-fat microwave kind.
1 cup Rice Chex or Crispix cereal

    1 cup Cheerios cereal

    1 cup Bran Chex cereal
    1 cup pretzel sticks
    2 Tablespoons margarine, melted
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    ½ teaspoon garlic sauce
    ½ teaspoon onion powder

    Combine first five ingredients.
    Preheat oven to 300º
Combine margarine and Worcestershire sauce and drizzle over the mixture and toss well. Sprinkle with garlic salt and onion powder.
Put mixture in a shallow pan and spread into one layer. Bake for 10 minutes, stir twice. Let mixture cool in the oven.
    Store in an airtight container.
    Serving Size: 1 cup

Nutritional Information: 100 calories, 3 grams fat

    Better than the Original

    3 c. Rice Chex

2 c. Bite Size Shredded Wheat

    1 c. Soy Nuts

    1/4 C. Sugar-Free Syrup

    2 T. Dijon Mustard

    Garlic Powder

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a baking pan lightly sprayed with Pam (or equivalent). Combine the syrup, mustard and garlic powder and carefully (light hand here!) pour over the mix in the baking pan. Stir to coat and toss in the oven preheated to 350. Bake for about 45 minutes (stirring twice during baking time). Lay out on tin foil to cool.

You can sub out the soy nuts (I know there are people here with sensitivities to soy) I'd use anything that's going to give it some protein - pumpkin seeds or sesame seeds, etc. You can also mix up what kind of chex you use - next time, I'll probably use a combo of wheat and rice.

Nutrition Info (As above - you're on your own for subs)

    Serving Size 1/2 C.

    132 Cal, 2.9g. Fat, .4g Sat Fat, 21g. Carbs. 0 Chol, 2.3 sugar, 3.1 fiber, 6.3 protein.

    Hope that helps you.

I just wanted everyone to know that today is a MUCH better day than yesterday. I got my workout in and some toning exercises without being interrupted. We have started Adi on rice cereal but we usually give it to her in the evenings. I thought we should start giving it to her twice a day so I gave her some this morning and she's been asleep for almost 2 hours!! It's made everything go so much smoother!!! She LOVES her cereal. Last night she ate about 2 1/2 tbsp and wanted more! Today I gave her 4 tbsp and she was SO HAPPY. I love feeding babies at this age, messy yes but so fun to watch their expressions. I hope everyone else is having a good day!!
  • Too much milk can be really bad for kids...my kids drink a lot but i have had to put a limit on it...my parents are pediatricians and both said the same thing excessive milk can cause iron defciency and extreme calcium where bones can be affected too...for a 11/2 yr old 3 cups is enough milk...it can also
mess with their immune systems and ability to absorb other nutrients...HTH.

Dana, you are so allowed. Grieving is a difficult process & is never dealt with the same way twice. Once the benefit is over, you'll be able to breathe a little better & things will be different. *hugs* Just give yourself room to grieve & feel & you can hop back up & get back on the train on Monday. It's almost here.

Dana sorry to hear about your loss. Give yourself time to heal your emotions. You have lost an outstanding amount of weight, so you know how to do this. Give yourself this time to grieve and when you feel ready get back on the train.

Well, sweetie-- my "family" has never been thrilled with my husband, either. But, that is because he has taught me with his in your face, snapoutofit.gif personality how to say what I mean, mean what I say, and have the courage to call a spade a spade. My family didn't like being called "spades' apparently-- LOL.

Whatever your issues are with your husband, they're yours to figure out. Tell your family to stick it.

MM-- no ideas on the fake snacks, sorry. I'm an "all or nothing" girl-- can't take the fake sweets. I'll either have a small portion of the real stuff, or none.

Dana-- bless your heart-- hang in there. I'm never a good one for grief counseling-- everything I say always sounds trite. So, I'll just leave it at that-- God bless you and keep you strong.

So many others-- don't mean to be rude and not address them all-- I've only had time to pop in tonight-- life is so nutso. I'm not liking it very much these days. Can you all tell? :grumble: sigh.gifgaah.gif

I know I'm just in need of a good, old fashioned snapoutofit.gif myself. I'm being a big time whiner. hanghead.gif And I'm not usually prone to whining. shame.gif

So, I'm just gonna go nite-nite and trust that "tomorrow is another day." So deep--

God bless us all this day, my friends-- loveshower.gif
