Marla I wish your Buckeyes good luck. We will be watching the BSU vs. Nevada game. Our Broncos are undefeated and this game means the WAC championship and a (hopefully) guaranteed Bowl game. Let's go Broncos!!0
-
I'm nursing a baby & balancing at the moment, just wanted to congratulate Marla on the Buckeye's win. The roads here are DEAD. LOL0
-
oh-- cool, they won? I've been at my desk all day-- trying to concentrate on work. Guess I should've figured it out-- the house is quiet-- if Michigan had won, I'd have had 'em all in here taunting me.
Go Buckeyes!0 -
Rise and Shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What? Didn't EVERYONE have to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 6:30 for two ravenous 18 year old travelers and then take an exuberant 9 year old to her basketball practice? Come on lazy lumps-- out of those beds!!!!!!!
God bless us all this day, my friends!!!!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
No, Marla. I was up at 5 with Z b/c that's how he rolls. However, before I left for shopping with my mom at 8:30, I managed to do a load of dishes, 3 loads of laundry, TJ Fat Blaster, got the boys dressed, got the boys fed, took a shower, got dressed & made chili for dinner. All of which, my dh was sleeping in bed...you all KNOW what the d stood for that time.:grumble:
I'm glad your David is off for a road trip! I hope he is careful! You'll love TJ, but I'm afraid of how your dh will handle the music on it. Maybe you can do it on mute? I've never been a "regular" girl. My cycles off the pill run from 20-45 days. Weight loss hasn't helped it, either b/c they were that irregular when I weighed 135 & continue to be so. After I've had kids, they tend to be closer to the 35-45 day range, though. Not fun.
Lyn - your friends seriously flaked like that?! That's horrible! It isn't like they live 30 min. away or something. How stinky. My breasts nearly exploded at Kohls today. I didn't realize that I hadn't nursed Tabitha since 3:30am & she wasn't complaining either! OUCH! I was in such a hurry this morning that I just packed her up & headed out. I usually pump in the morning, too but since she woke up to eat in the middle of the night, I had nothing worth pumping. Once I got home, however, I had a 6 oz. bottle full. Geeze! The joys of breastfeeding.
I have a whiner asking for things so I need to run. I get home from my "day off"...which involved carting my mom & Tabitha 18 places & Doug hits the door to go to his mom & dad's to do something to his stupid car. I need a break from these monsters!!!!!!!!!0 -
I could never pump-- ever. Even bought an expensive one with a gift card-- nuttin'. I should try and sell it on ebay-- hmmmm.
Did you get a dress?
And David isn't driving on the road trip. He's already totaled one car, gotten lost nearly everywhere he tries to go-- until he can afford his own car AND insurance ( which in Jersey is outrageous) he doesn't take our car much outside of our town. So, he's a passenger in "Henry's" car-- so, let's hope Henry is safe!!!!!!
I'll preview the TJ before Keith gets home-- he's in Florida until after Thanksgiving, and it's supposed to arrive before then. If it's too much, I'll turn the sound down and/or do it downstairs. I don't have as big of a problem with rock music as he does-- I won't let the kids listen to most of it, but for exercise-- eh, you know-- if it helps keep you going-- I don't know. ??0 -
I actually pump to donate to Mothers Milk Bank for premie babies. This is the first time I've done it. With Zeke, every drop had to go to him for daycare & with Micah I couldn't pump to save my life. So strange. This time, I'm like a prize winning dairy cow!
I ended up getting a red top (which I need to add a safety pin to so the milk jugs don't go spilling out), a knee length black skirt & some sassy red heels. Versitile enough to wear to church so I didn't spend money one something that I'll only wear at Doug's work parties. I'll have to comb my hair & then make Doug take a pic of me in it. My hair is getting out of control these days anyways. THAT I'm growing out to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths & only have about 2 more inches to go before I can chop it all off. I can hardly wait. I haven't had hair this long since my junior year of high school.0 -
Well, I was looking into milk banks too-- LOL-- hubby thought it was cheaper than implants since when the nursing stops, so does the size of the you know whats-- LOL. However, two things-- I couldn't pump, nor do I have time to sit there like, well, a prize winning dairy cow.
Your outfit sounds lovely-- sassy enough for when you're "Sara" and subtle for when you're "Church going Mommy".
I meant to tell you-- you look SO much like my best friend from high school-- well, more like her sister, actually-- but they looked very much alike. It's ooky.
Can't wait to see the outfit!!0 -
HA! Ooky? As in "ewwW!" or as in "eerie" LOL I feel dirty.:indifferent:
I've been warning Doug that come April (or thereabouts) the milk factory will be shutting down & the employees will be laid off, leaving an empty factory. He is not amused with my analogy. LOL0 -

Oh, heavens-- no, ooky as in eerie-- MaryJo and her sisters are lovely, as are you-- so sorry for the confusion!!
I find your analogy fraught with humor-- these guys sometimes have no sense of humor!!! (especially where boobs [or lack thereof] are concerned-- )0 -
Aww, thanks! I don't feel so dirty any more. LOL
I've been pregnant &/or breastfeeding since Nov. 2004 & went from a B to a DD overnight so I'm afraid that Doug may have a mild coronary attack once they're down to their natural, unmilky state. LOL He'll live, I'm pretty sure. If not, I'll suggest he get the implants b/c I'm not interested in lugging these suckers (literally) around any more!
And there's your dose of TMI from Sara...the Saturday version. :bigsmile:0 -
TMI? 'splain.
And I was pregnant and/or nursing from 12/89 through summer of 2003 or so-- bit of time off-- then got rockin and rollin' again for Josh and Caleb in 2006 and 7-- my-- uh-- suckers are about a foot off the ground by now--0 -
too much information = tmi. you've never seen this one?
You are a good woman. I'm on year 4 & SOOOO very done. Only 5 months left. I love nursing my babies & being pregnant, but would so like my body back...and I'm getting there 1# at a time. When I'm done nursing Tabitha, I'm hoping to be at my goal weight. I'm afraid I won't know what to do with myself! LOL0 -
nope-- got it-- TMI-- mental note.
I never minded being pregnant-- always had easy ones, felt great-- loved the lil' beans swimming around and kickign me-- love the birth experience, loved nursing.
I see the "freedom" women my age have who stopped having kids after 2 or 3, whose youngest are 14 and 15 or so-- and a part of me yearns for that. But, I wouldn't trade any of these kidlets-- my time for that will come. (I just will be so old, I won't remember what to do with it-- )0 -
LOVED the birth experience. None of them were alike & I wouldn't have done anything different. The only thing I didn't like was being induced with Tabitha. My water broke, but I wasn't in labor so I had no choice. I hated that Pitocin & made sure everyone in the hospital knew it. One nurse tried to get me to take drugs at one point & she was kicked out of my room. It is amazing the power you have when you're the one pushing a person out of your body. I'm just worried about how many women in other rooms were begging for drugs b/c of hearing me scream my bloody head off for about 2 hours. *shudder* Her birth was the worst...all b/c of pitocin. Blech.
So my TMI segment wasn't done yet. LOL0 -
okay, well here we are with TMI again then-- LOL
I have had scheduled inductions my last four babies. I'm always late, and have big babies so the doctor won't let me go past 41 weeks, especially due to my "advanced maternal age," as they politely call this old broad.
I've come to learn exactly when to direct them to break my water, since I will not dilate or contract until then, and then I've learned to immediately ask for the epidural. No earth mother here, chickie-- nuh-uh. Pain or no pain? I'll take no pain, thanks.
Only one time, Faith in 1993, before I knew my "routine" did I ask for the epidural too late and was told I had to go au naturelle-- yikes, yikes, yikes!!!
Too funny-- here I am, truly the most easygoing and quietest labor patient in the history of the world-- not a peep out of me, seriously-- contraction is coming, I order hubby to be silent, and then I breathe in, breathe out, close my eyes and wait for it be over-- well, there was one stubborn part of my cervix, apparently, that the nurse needed to manually move in order for this child to make her final descent into the New Jersey area--
So, "Okay, Mom, wait for your next contraction and then I'm going to lift your cervix and you push, okay?" Uh, okay. Sounds like a plan until the contraction began, she started lifting my cervix and it felt like somebody was ripping my tonsils out through my lower orifice!
Suddenly, the silent patient screamed like a stuck pig. "OWWWW!!!!!! GET YOUR FINGERS OUTTA ME!!!!!!!" 'But, you have to push!" "I'M NOT DOING ANYTHING UNTIL YOU GET YOUR FINGERS OUTTA ME!!!"
The nurses and my husband all had the longest laugh over it. Nurse says, "She speaks?" We're talking zero to 60 in a nanosecond!! LOL
Too much-- but, the birth experience from there was truly magnificent-- I loved actually feeling what natural birth was all about-- but not enough to want the pain ever again.
I'm done now-- I know, definitely TMI. LOL0 -
I have so much I want to say right now, but I'll refrain. I don't think anyone here wants to hear my "GET OUT OF ME!" story right now. LOL I did have all 3 of mine naturally. I have scoliosis & the though of that needle going into "unknown" terriroty scared the junk out of me.
I love birth stories. They (almost) always have a happy ending. :happy:0 -

Aw heck-- lay it on us, when you have time-- this is for Moms-- right? I Love birth stories, too.
Later!!!!!!0 -
Congrats to Marla's Buckeyes!! I turned it on just in time to see a beautiful kick return by Small, followed up by a beautiful touchdown by Rodinski. It's half time in the BSU vs Nevada game, Of course BSU is winning!!!0
-
Woo hoo, Lyn! I just can't get into football unless it is the SEC. I don't know why. Perhaps I have a condition of some sort. Especially since I live in Ohio. LOL
I'll have to figure out how to give the reader's digest version of Tabitha's birth story. That one was the worst. I still cringe thinking about it. I thought poor Doug was going to leave me by the end. On top of the nurse I kicked out of my room, a doctor disappeared at one point too...also my doing. I was having fun, let me tell ya. :laugh:0 -
I got my push ups shirt!!!:bigsmile:0

Zeke's birth story.
Doug didn't get home from work until 1am & the day before was my b.day. I was sleeping on the couch b/c it was hotter than Haiti in our room upstairs. 3am my water breaks & I wake up Doug, but tell him to go back to sleep b/c the contractions hadn't started. He thought he was dreaming, so he went back to sleep. LOL 7am he comes running down the stairs b/c it hit him that it wasn't a dream. We leave for the hosptial at 10am, stopping at McDonalds, the gas station & the insurance agent to sign papers on the way. Yes, we were indeed nuts. Got to the hospital & got our room. My mom showed up b/c she was worried & my best friend showed up b/c she actually worked at a dr. office in the hospital. Contractions were easy (compared to M & T) & normal...until I puked all over the place. I was a quiet laborer until that point, too. That's when the yelling started...and the sleeping. I was literally falling asleep between contractions. It was odd & Doug kept thinking that I was blacking out b/c it was happening so quickly. I was in labor for 11 hours until I started pushing & it was another hour or so of pushing to get his giant shoulders out. Then he screamed for about an hour, nursed & screamed some more. I was being "worked on" for about another 45 min. & was given nubane b/c I was having some blood pressure issues that they thought could be resolved with nubane. I don't recomend it. It knocked me to the other side of loopy & once I was finished being stitched & everything, I started drunk dialing our friends. Some of our friends still have their answering machine messages of me telling them Z was born b/c I was that entertaining. Note to everyone, don't leave a woman hopped up on Nubane alone with a phone, hormones & a baby. LOL
That was my easy birth...even though I left out a lot of details. :bigsmile:0 -

With Micah, my water never broke & I had some nasty braxon hicks for a couple weeks prior to him being born so I wasn't so sure I was in labor. Plus, it was back labor so it felt a lot different than Zeke. Once I was clutching the stovetop in an effort to stay on my feet, we decided it was indeed labor. My mom & dad came over & took care of Zeke. We had to got to a different hospital b/c of insurance reasons. That was the worst part. I walk in to the hospital & go to admissions. They look at me & say, "third floor." I stare at them...then walk away to the third floor, very much in labor & cussing at the admissions people. We wander around the thrid floor for what seemed like an hour & finally found where we had to go. They stick me in treaje (or however the junk you spell it) with a woman that had to poop. I'm not kidding. She was sure she was in labor but wasn't having any contractions. Her friend was eating FRENCH FRIES about 5' from me. The dr. that came in said that she wasn't even 1cm dilated & actually suggested that she go home & take a stool softener. Seriously. I could have punched this woman in her head. All the things we did to get through labor with Zeke did NOT work with Micah & I have never felt so alone in my life in that stupid little curtained room. I was about 6cm dilated & things were moving fast. We weren't even in the actual delivery room for more than 2 hours & literally 3 pushes & he was born....well, I puked all over that room, too. We didn't know with either of the boys what they were & when 9#9oz Micah was born, all I heard the dr. & nurse say was, "oh what a big baby, oh what a big baby." I actually had to ask if he was a boy or girl. LOL It was kind of funny. This time they only had to "work" on me for about 5 min. after the fact & I refused the nubane. We didn't need that fiasco repeated. :bigsmile:0

Marla your birth story has me laughing so hard my stomach hurts. Thanks I needed that. I'm having a terrible day...emotionally. I'm cranky and ready to kill someone. The kids have been golden and so has my dh...I don't know why I'm cranky but I'd really like it to go away.
I had two very different births as well, one induced (3bb I know how you feel about pitocin) and the other au natural. Drevan was induced at 39 weeks because I was dialted to a 4 with no contractions (and the doc was going on vacation the next week). They broke my water, nothing happened. They gave me pit and the show started. I had an epidural but I could still feel a little bit. 5 hrs and 20 minutes later my son was born. I didn't curse, but I did keep yelling "Get him outta me!"
Adara was a whole different processes. I was dialated to a 3 at 37 weeks, 4 at 38 weeks and a 6 at 40 weeks. At my doc appointment 4 days before her due date, when the doc said I was at a 6 we contemplated induced. Of course after Dre, I was totally against it. We scheduled it for her due day, because it's 20 plus minutes to the hospital from my house (and thats with NO traffic) and I was a little afraid that should I go into labor during rush hour and being dialated to a 6 (with no contractions) I would have her in the car. Well that night just as we were going to bed my water broke and the contractions hit HARD. We get to the hospital in record time and by the time they get me signed in and into a room my contractions are 2 1/2 minutes apart and KILLING ME. The man with the drugs comes in gives me my epi and I think he overdosed me. I couldn't feel ANYTHING. The epi slowed down everything and they were afraid they were going to have to give me Pit to get things going again. Luckily, little Adi was ready to come out. They told me to push and about 3 pushes later she came out. Now let me tell you, I didn't even know if I was pushing cuz I couldn't feel ANYTHING. I had No idea what muscles to push and if they WERE pushing. I would take a Drevan labor over an Adara labor any day. Some feeling is much better than no feeling.
There's my stories, I tried really hard to avoid the TMI factors
3bb I'm glad you found an outfit. I think it's great that you pump and donate. I only get about 4 oz max when I pump but it's enough to give us a little back stock and to have on hand daily to mix with her cereal.
Oh half time is over back to the game!!0
