Cruisin blogs I subscribe to & this caught my attention. It's long, but gives me a way to plan meals for the week. I've tried so many different sites, but the notebook idea...I feel as if I should have thought of this...it's so simple. One of those DUH moments! LOL

Hi, Everyone. My name is Sarah, and I'm a slacker. (*hi, Sarah.*)

Sorry girls, I leave for ONE day and y'all flip three pages. Holey Moses!

    Let's see what I remember:

Amy!!!! 180's!! YAHOOOEY!!! I am so glad for you. Let's knock out the 180s together, eh? Migraine = yuck. Sorry. :(

Lacey: I have been doing the Chicken Dance SINCE 6:01 on Tuesday. Still doing it. I am SO sorry about Bart. We had a Border Collie for 16, yes 16 years and finally had to put him down. He was in SO much pain and so miserable. I think you just know when it's time.

Hosanna: I am so glad your man had normal results. Good for him for going onto the specialist.

Hallie: Sorry you are going through crap. I don't want to sound like the old lady here, but the years 18 - 25 SUCK. It kinda feels like you are a butterfly comin' out of your chrysalis and you spend those seven years thrashing around trying to figure out your role, who you are, what you are supposed to be doing, what your relationship with your folks is supposed to look like now that you're an adult, etc. The thrashing is natural. And you'll get through it, I promise.

Victoria: My nana took me on an Alaskan cruise when I was 5. Kind of a waste, since all I remember is the chocolate eclairs... (I guess my struggle with food has followed me a long time, eh?) Anyway, I remember that the glacier is blue...like crazy blue and they have awesome eclairs. Other than that, I am no help at all. :)

Nava: OUCH. No thanks. I am not a fan of pain, I'll just take the bumps. Thanks. Sorry for the unexpected ouchies.

Kendal: It sounds like you and Mr. Reunion are taking your time on the move which is so important!! You can plan and work on the stuff that needs to happen before you move in. What a great way to do it!!

Katie: It is so much more important to care for our souls than we think. Take the time you need, but don't leave us completely, ok? I am praying for you.

Karen: My biggest one (Wiggle 4yo) has had issues like that since he was born. The child has movements the size of my arm (sorry, girls). He eats two prunes a day and has been regular for the past 3 weeks. Thank goodness. We have had multiple all-nighters on the toilet begging him to push it out rather than hold it in, the crying (because it hurts), the cramps, etc. I hope you can get it under control soon so you don't deal with it as long as we have. We actually have a time set aside each day for him to just sit on the toilet and try to go. This has done two things: 1) he doesn't have to rush because there is nothing else for him to be doing. 2) My 4 yo is reading chapter books already because he has the time to sit and do it. Who knew?

Kerry: I do not carry water with me on long runs. I hydrate prior and take a salt tab. I am doing 6-7 miles/day and going long on weekends. (10 miles on Saturday.) I also do not hydrate DURING a race...it makes me have to pee. Stopping to pee is not in my time-goal, if you know what I mean. I have thought about a water belt, but I don't want the weight. Let me know what you decide and how it works for you. I am open to suggestions too.

I have to admit that the past two days have been divine. If the month of August taught me nothing else, I have learned that a) I am not cut out to watch other people's children. b) My kids rock. Maybe I haven't screwed them up as bad as I thought.

The monsters are gone and I am no longer stressed out. My eating has been much cleaner and my exercise has been more focused. I will weigh in tomorrow since TOM seems to have had his fun and he is on his way out. I have to admit that I am a little excited since I weighed in at 189.5 on the first day of TOM last week...I am pretty sure I'll have a good loss.

We are debt-free as of TODAY. The last check just cleared our account yesterday. We are all done. I have called Sallie Mae "The Other Woman" in our lives for the past 5 1/2 years. I just sent that *itch packin'.

Hubby and I are looking at houses since he is starting to get settled in the new job. We were worried that we wouldn't qualify for a loan, but with our down payment being as big as it is, we are approved for a nice loan and a great rate. We were worried because I don't have any credit it all - bad or good. In fact, I have no score. That didn't seem to hold us back at all. I found a crappy little tiny house on 10 acres with a beautiful barn for less per month than we are paying now to rent. We are going to look at it tonight. As long as the house is inhabitable, I am on board with moving in. We can build what we want on 10 acres while living in the barn for all I care. (I'm a contractor's daughter, can you tell?)

I guess over all, this has been an absolutely amazing week:
    --No more monsters
-- Twinkle has potty trained HERSELF (added bonus: I get a parade thrown in MY honor every time *I* use the potty too.)
--Approved for a home loan and looking for a house
    --Totally debt free
--Wiggle went back to school starting yesterday.
--Labor Day weekend means a 3 day weekend with my man
--My best friend in the whole wide world is coming to visit for 5 days starting on Tuesday (expect weight gain on next weeks WI)
--I just had the best cup of coffee of my life.

    !!!!

Lacey, what the...?? It's always weird to me when people pop in on this board mid-challenge because it just seems like we've got this little insulated community, but to have someone pop in on this board just to be negative? Ugh. I'm sorry about everything going on with Bart. I don't have any advice for you but I know how hard this must be...my thoughts are with you.

Sarah, I am so so SOOOOOO jealous -- and happy for you! -- that you are completely out of debt! I keep chipping away a little at a time, but sometimes it seems like I'll never get out from under. Especially from that *itch Sallie Mae you mentioned! Big school loans are no fun. I need to start clipping coupons like you do, seriously. Yay for your fantastic week! And for great coffee.

Karen, I hope all will be well with Melodie now. I've started feeling the same way about running...I haven't gotten a chance to do it this week and it's driving me nuts. I always feel so accomplished afterwards!

    Nava, OUCH!

Hosanna, glad everything is going so well with the man!

Amy, WOOHOO about being out of the 190's!! You are doing so great after your surgery...what an inspiration! When I don't feel like working out I can think "Amy's been working out with one good foot, so you have no excuse." ;) Let us know how P90X2 is.

Kendal, wow, things sound like they're going fantastic with you and Mr. Reunion! Congrats!

Hailie, I hope things are going better for you than they were when you posted last...

Victoria, I've always wanted to go to Alaska...it looks so beautiful in pictures! Katheryne can probably tell you some great places to go.

Katie, glad to hear from you -- I was wondering where you were. Totally understandable that you want to take a breather. We'll be here for you when you come back!

Megan, any word from the new guy yet? Have you talked to him?

Kerry, I've been wanting to get a food scale too. Up until now I've just been measuring, but there are times when measuring cups and spoons just don't work well. If you get one that you like let us know what it is. As for the water thing, I always have to carry water with me when I'm running/walking/hiking outside. I sweat like a crazy person and get SUPER dehydrated.

Rain, I hope your son is feeling better. :frown:

Sorry if I missed anyone! Gotta get back to work and try to finish some things up so I can leave early tomorrow....the parents are coming in to visit from St. Louis and seeing our new house for the first time, so that means that I have to double and triple clean everything.

I was thinking it was kind of random when I first saw it. Then I thought about going back through your posts to see if I maybe missed something, but I had a meeting. Then I decided that the poster was probably in need of some help, which I had neither the time nor the interest in providing.

Pam: Dude, you just made me feel proud of myself. I'm totally happy to be your inspirational kick in the butt!!! Thanks.

Sarah: Wow, you are nothing but good news today: no more monsters, no more debt AND house hunting!!! How freaking cool is that?!?!?! I've never lived in one place long enough to go house hunting. I'm totally down with knocking out the 180's along with you (but I'm pretty sure you'll do it faster with all your running - you. are. a. machine.)

Karen: I like the notebook planning idea. I have a refrigerator notepad that has the days of the week written on it and I make my dinner menu on that (it hangs up on the fridge so I never have to answer "Mom...what's for dinner???"). I eat the same thing for breakfast pretty much every day and lunch is either leftovers of a crack wrap so I don't have to think too much about that when meal planning.

Nava: OMG, I can't imagine someone STABBING me repeatedly in the neck. You are one tough chica.

My migraine today was super-weird. The aura beforehand was pretty standard for me (numbness in my arm, inability to make coherent sense when talking and thinking as well as sensitivity to light) but where normally a monster pain hits me and that the aura symptoms go away there was a pretty intense headache (nothing close to my regular migraine) and my inability to make coherent thoughts has been kind of limited. Also, the pain is pretty much gone as of now but normally I'd have wicked pain for about 24 hours. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying it's weird.

Once the pain subsided, I got off my booty and tried the Jillian Michaels 6 week six-pack workout. It was pretty good but I found myself feigning for something more intense. I hope my abs are sore tomorrow. (I realize, as I'm typing this, that I sound like a total dork) I pre-ordered the P90X2. I guess I'll actually have it in my hot little hands around Christmastime (just in time to battle those holiday pounds that somehow creep up on me - it might have something to do with my "calories don't count in December" policy).

Lacey, I have never seen that happen before - how weird/rude/ridiculous. Leave our freakin' group alone stranger! On the other side, I just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and all the crap with Bart. That just plain SUCKS. That's a really difficult decision to make - if it were my parents dog, who is basically my little brother, I would want them to do everything they could to not only ease his pain but also keep him around as long as possible. I agree with everyone that it would just be nice if dogs could learn to talk so they could just tell us what they need.

Karen, I totally crave runs now. More than any other kind of workout. They do such an awesome job of clearing my mind. If we had showers at work, I would run on every lunch break, just because of how much better of a place I am in mentally afterwards. But, like Pam, I sweat like a crazy when working out, so yeah. It would be ugly.

Bobbie, I have decided that you are way too fun and I love your posts. I'm happy we have you.

Pam/Amy/everyone who input for me, I absolutely cannot run with anything in my hands. I have to find running shorts/capris that have pockets so I can put my phone in there instead of holding onto it. I also thread my headphones under my sports bra so the wire doesn't bounce around. So yeah - I have been running without water. (hanging head in shame) I need to get a camelback, because I know that's the only way I'll do it, or I need to have a midway stop back at my house and have water ready. But I definitely cannot carry anything in my hands. It will drive me bonkers.

Kendal, I am so excited for you and Mr. Reunion. He seems like an awesome guy and you sound super happy when you talk about him. Love it.

Sarah, I have HUGE out of debt envy. That is an amazing accomplishment that I may never achieve. My younger self was awfully irresponsible. :blushing:

Victoria, there's a guy that I work with who grew up in Alaska. I'll ask him some questions and get back to you. That's really awesome for you though - I've heard its incredible.

Okay, random replies but that's all I've got time for. Back to workin' workin' I should go. I swapped my workouts this morning and did Kenpo so that I can run tomorrow (bigger calorie burn for a Friday night baseball game so I can have more fun).

Amy, no problem -- you ARE inspirational!

Kerry, I don't like walking or hiking with stuff in my hand but I can deal with it. For running, I'm totally like you. HATE having to carry anything. I've thought about getting a Camelback but a huge majority of my ridiculous sweating happens on my back, so I don't really want something back there making me more hot (or making my water hotter). In 2009 I did a half marathon (just walked it, no running) and I knew I wouldn't want to be carrying anything but I also knew that I would need more water than the water stations would provide, so I bought this thing:

    http://www.amazon.com/Amphipod-RunLite-Hydration-Belt-Size/dp/B002PA4V8A/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1314906908&sr=8-16

I thought I would hate having something around my waist while doing the half marathon, but it wasn't so bad. I haven't run in it yet though, so I'm not sure if it's annoyingly bouncy....but maybe something like that might work for you?

I'm so brain dead this morning. I had to scroll through three times before I could find Victoria's comment about Alaska. Anyway...

Victoria...I live in southeast Alaska. Do you know where you're going? Alaska is freaking huge, more than twice the size of Texas, and each area is totally different from the next. Here is the southeast is a temperate rainforest. The temp ranges from about 10 degrees in the the winter (on the coldest days--it usually almost always above freezing though) to mid 70s in the summer (warmest days). It rains all the time. Ketchikan gets an average of 150 inches of rain (not including snow) a year.

The Anchorage area has the most people. I've never been there and don't know much about that region. But one of my best friends is from there so I can find out stuff if that is your destination.

The Interior is mostly wilderness. There are a lot of native villages, oh, and Fairbanks. Fairbanks can have some pretty amazing flucuations in temp between summer and winter. The summer temp can be in the 90s and the winters can be in the -50s.

the North Slope is tundra with a lot of oil reserves. Out side of "Ice Road Truckers" there's not much else going on.

and the Aleutians are a bunch of islands, many of them uninhabited. There is one called "Rat Island" that has pretty much nothing but birds and rats (a ship crashed there in the 1800s that had a ton of the little buggers on there. Otherwise they are not native to the area)

Overall the scenery is absolutly beautiful. I've lived and seen a lot of places around the country and Alaska, at least Southeast, is one of the most stunning I've ever seen. And yes, the glaciers are blue. When we go hiking, (the trails here are awesome) we can tell which streams are glacier fed because the water has the most amazing glacier blue color, and so pure. The drinking water all comes from glacier fed streams. The tap water tastes better than any i've had anywhere else before.

Anyway, now that i've gasses on about it. Let me know when and where and i'll give you info about things to do during that specific time period. and is it a cruise?

Pam...I HATE Sallie Mae. I LOATH them with a passion. My student loans are all consolidated through Great Lakes. I love them. they worked with me when i was unemployed. I forgot to pay one month and they let it slide without putting it as a late payment on my credit report. They're just wonderful. My husband's loans are through Sallie Mae. We were two days late making a payment and they had already called his mother since she was a contact listed on his exit paperwork. They refuse to "sell" his loans to Great Lakes so they can be consolidated with the same carrier I use. And when he consolidated with them as a last option it only lowered his payment by about 50 bucks. (When i consolidate my payment droped in half without increasing the length of time I had to pay--due to a better interest rate.

As for me. Busy busy busy at work, though give what I do that is almost always the case. My diet sucks. I need to eat better. I know that's why I've been flucuating at my current weight for over a year. So...even though I havn't been posting a lot, i'm around...lurking.

Annette: I'm sorry I forgot to post this: www.practicallyfrugal.wordpress.com is my blog. :)

I did 10.4 miles this morning with my jogging stroller. That was brutal. The darned thing pulled to the left the ENTIRE run. :noway: Irritation. But still feel pretty amazing.

Got home and did Level 1 of the 30 DS since I am doing that every day this month...one more time 'round. It worked really well to stretch me out after my run, too.

Lacey: You're so popular! People are flocking to post to you. Tee Hee. Weirdo.

Pam and Kerry: Our debt-free status has been a HUGE undertaking over the past 5 1/2 years. We had one moderately low income and two kids. We. did. nothing. except pay off debt. We didn't eat out. We didn't vacation. We didn't play. We did nothing. But, now that it's gone, and Hubby gets his first paycheck from the new job tomorrow, I am kinda at a loss with what to do with it. Pay off the house, I suppose -- when we buy one. I am so used to being broke ( on purpose) that I don't know if I can change my ways. Hubby wants to go on Disney cruise. But, I can't wrap my head around that yet. It's kinda like hitting a goal weight and then being able to eat whatever you want without gaining any of it back. Very strange concept.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go be the bad guy and put my kids down for a nap.

new boy texted me this morning to see what i was doing tonight. I just told him straight up that i was trying to work things out with the ex right now and our fling was poor timing on my part. (I met him 5 days after the breakup). I think i really hurt his feelings through all of this. love sucks sometimes.

WiggleSarah - YAY for debt free!! So proud of you! You sound so happy! And congrats on the home loan! Have fun looking for a place!!!

Megan - Love does, indeed, suck sometimes. But then sometimes it's pretty awesome!

I TOTALLY feel as though i've missed something around here... Someone came here to be nagative?? Someone fill me in??

Thanks everyone for your happy thoughts re: Other Half's health. We're very happy that he's "well" as such, and looking forward to finding out what the speciallist has to offer.

My water weight from the tassie holiday is still coming off. I'm not sure how i'm going to go with WI this week... i'm still 4 pounds up since last WI, but that's not bad considering i came home to find the scale telling me i was 10lb up from when i left... So hopefully the last of it will come off over the weekend... I have to work early shifts both days this WE, so it's not likely to count as a BAD thing... except we'r going to my friend's house for a barbecue tomorrow night for tea. Oh well, i'll just make sensible decisions as much as possible, and make sure the Other Half and i take a long walk after work!!

I've got a buttload of housework to do today... I hate early shifts, they put me out with everything!! Today i have a late, so don't need to be at work until 1pm. That gives me just over three hours until i have to get ready for work... best go and get some cleaning done!

In-laws are comin' to dinner. Way to put a damper on my day. :grumble:

But, my hubby is on his way home super early tonight. yay!!!

    Wow. Poor love!
