Tom Perotta- Wrote Little Children, Election, The Wishbones
    Christopher Moore-warped and hilarious
Yann Martel-has only written 2 so far but they are both fantastic
Wally Lamb-he rips my heart out and throws it across the room
Dennis LeHane-a master at the twist ending

Edited to add Jon Krakauer. He writes the best nonfiction. I highly recommend Where Men Win Glory about Pat Tillman.

My current favorite is Christopher Moore. Man is a GENIUS. I actually got to meet him, too. He's as funny in person as he is on paper.

My absolute favorite is Ray Bradbury. He's been a strong influence in my own writing over the years.

gonna have to friend you. Chris is a genius, "Lamb" is in my top 5, and I met Mr Bradbury, :)

Ill have to be friends with both of you! Christopher Moore is by far the most brilliant writers ever! A guy that can write a book that makes me chuckle or bust up laughing ALL the way through the book! And yes, I LOVE every book, but Lamb is by far his best!
  • Sandra Brown....and of course J.K. Rowling will always have my

There are books I can read over and over, usually once a year: all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (I ADORE him) and Jane Austen's P&P and S&S (not keen on the others).

Plus authors I always buy/borrow: Ben Elton, Bill Bryson, Nick Hornby

And those I always buy for comfort reads: Marian Keyes, Sophie Kinsella, Lauren Weisberger

I also recently read Nora Ephron's Heartburn which was brilliant so I'd like to see what else she's written.
  • Jeanette Winterson, Chuck Palahniuk, Carolyn Forche, Anthony Burgess, Dostoyevsky, Robert Creely, John Piper, I could go for days. It's really hard to pick just one author out of so many greats throughout history!
  • Jane Austen if I couldn't read anybody else ever. My kindle is full of Kate Atkinson and CJ Sansom books so i reckon they must be my favoruites right now.

Richard Dawkins & Sam Harris. If you ever want to understand science but are afraid you lack the mental capacity, Dawkins explains stuff in simplistic excellence. Harris also puts alot of things in perspective.

Otherwise, Richard Bach, Cormac McCarthy, and Stephen Ambrose.
