there are lots of good first gigs on here...mine was Silverchair at Brixton Academy, I think in '99 - I had to really put a lot of effort into persuading my parents to let me go. I went with someone who ended up being my boyfriend for 6 years afterwards. We were sitting down in the balcony, which wasn't exactly 'wild' but I enjoyed it anyway!

NKOTB in 1990 at Joe Robbie Stadium in south Florida. I was 12. So was my bestie, Jenny. My mom had to come with us b/c neither of our parents felt we were old enough to be at a concert alone. My mom sat like a lump throughout the entire concert, didn't stand once. I was so embarrassed. Jenny liked Donnie, and I was in lurve with Joey!!! Ah, good times with her. My ears were buzzing in bed that night from all the screaming. I kinda miss her. After Hurricane Andrew came through a couple years later, I never saw her again.

Van Morrison at Glastonbury festival 1982. I was 6. I still remember it, dragging my mum to the front and everyone letting us past because i was little. Wouldnt happen these days.
The next one was the Pogues at Womad in 1985. My mum made me and my friend pretend we were younger so we'd get in free. Me and my friend climbed on stage with them and sat at the side. It was brilliant, couldnt do THAT these days either.

Otc 1978 - 10cc - Usher Hall, Edinburgh. I was 13 going on 14 and went with my best pal Steve (his folks drove us there and back).

It's has hardy sex and drugs and rock n roll... all very sedate, all seated venu and we were sat in the upper circle. I think the supporting act was Sad Café (brilliant Manchester-based AOR group whose lead singer was the other Paul Young, dearly departed, who was singer with Mike & the Mechanics.)

I used to work for the CU (University of Colorado) field house selling cokes and hot dogs from 7th to 9th grade and was asked to work the Who concert in 1981 or 1982(?) but my mom wouldn't let me because it was right after those people got trampled at one of their shows and she thought I'd get trampled!!! So my first concert (I was working) was Simon & Garfunkel in 8th grade...first real ROCK concert was Bon Jovi and Ratt in 1985. Most recent concert was Lynch Mob last Wednesday night, next one is probably Def Leppard next week...Still a huge concert goer...

I'm almost embarrassed to say -- Statler Brothers in 1976 with my mother. I was 10! Anyone remember the song Elvira (giddy up, giddy up, maw maw). What I remember most is that I got all 7 autographs! Then Aerosmith at 16 -- friggen awesome!!

"Elvira" was actually done originally by Kenny Rogers and then by the Oak Ridge Boys--I only know this cause my dad had that 8 track (yes, I said EIGHT TRACK lol) and played it constantly LOL

My first concert was Korn back in 1999, when I was 14 years old and got my very first taste of large insane crowds, crowd surfers, and mosh pits. Fell in love! Staind was opening for them, and non of us really knew who they were at the time.

The next year I went to the most memorable concert which was Ozzfest, with of course Ozzy headlining. Have no idea who opened because it was an all day concert with two stages. Some of the lineup was Incubus, POD, Queens of the Stone Age, Disturbed, Soulfly... and best ~Pantera and Godsmack!

I've been in love with concerts ever since. :)

The first concert I was dragged along to was in 2002, my mum thought she was doing a really good thing when she bought me tickets to see Westlife for my 21st birthday!

The first concert I ever purchased tickets for was equally as embarrasing, and thankfully a lot of you may not have heard of them... but in 2004/5 I went to see Busted!

My taste in music has evolved somewhat since then!

Freshman in high school ('89)... Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, IN... Poison with my boyfriend.

I didn't even like Poison, but wanted to go cuz his dad had gotten us seats in "Celebrity Circle" and I wanted to brag about it to friends who actually liked Poison.

Later that year I saw Duran Duran at same venue with my besty. Didn't sit in Celebrity Circle, but had a MUCH better time!

I was 13, 1998, NSYNC, at the Murat in Indianapolis, IN. I went with my sister and Britney Spears was the opener and we hadn't really heard of her yet. I remember my sister leaning over to me when she was on stage and saying "Is it just me or does she have a huge *kitten*?" Still one of my favorite memories with my sister. We had SUCH a great time!

Dave Matthews Band--2007--Alpine Valley. I was 19. Had lawn seats the first night, the second night I had 4th row seats. And they opened with The Dreaming Tree (First time they EVER opened with it) and it was INCREDIBLE. In-cred-i-ble.

Van Halen - 1984. It was at Maple Leaf Gardens. There were about 10 of us, ranging in age from 14-16. It was amazing.

    I was 14.
  • The Beatles the year they came to Vancouver PNE, OMG what a show, and I was standing in a line up when the black limo slowly drove by, Paul handed me a pair of Ringo's drum sticks and swoosh, someone grabbed them out of my hands. Great memory.

It was a music festival called Mountain Air in 1985. A mix of bands - R.E.M., Berlin, Ratt, Huey Lewis and the News, and the Cars (in that order). The Cars were the headliners but Huey Lewis got the biggest crowd response.
