There is nothing wrong with a rest day. It gives your bones and muscles a chance to heal up from the strenuous riding you are doing. Hope you are feeling better soon to get back on the bike.0 -

I didn't ride at all this weekend as I was doing my fall cleaning. I'm missed the riding, but my house is sparkling clean. I don't think my microwave has been so clean since I bought it. As of today I am up to 305 miles and have 88 more miles of commute planned. I need to pick up an extra 7 miles sometime during the week to make my 400 mile goal. I'm thinking a lunchtime ride will work.0

Took a day off today - i'd ridden 5 days on the bounce, and yesterday decided to add in a few more hilly bits, just to test the knee a little. Half way up first big hill, felt back wheel rubbing on the brakes a little, jumped off and checked and one of the spokes had loosened enough to let the wheel sway a little. Backed off the brake a little, and rode home, though the rubbing was still noticeable. So - I thought I'd treat myself to a day off
Had a look at the wheel later in the evening, and the wheel trued straight back up without touching any other spokes bar the one that loosened mid ride. They're really a cracking pair of wheels, those Mk 1 Fulcrum 5's - best part of 5 years of me bouncing up and down on 'em, and still straight as a die!0 -
Had the flu for the last two days; felt better today, so I rode 16 miles. 390 for the month now.0

I did my personal best today! 15.32 miles in 60 min! I was so pumped afterwards that I did another 30 minutes AND had a better time with going 7.72 miles in 30 min.
Earlier today I had a checkup with my doctor. He was so surprised to see me. On January 19, 2011, I weighed 287 lbs (I had already lost 10 lbs from the beginning of the year) and today I weighed 249 lbs! For my reward, he prescribed a high blood pressure pill that is half of the dosage that I'm taking now. I'll see him again at the end of December. My goal - to be 20lbs lighter AND I can do it with all of this cycling! BTW, my doctor thought that if I kept losing weight, I could be entirely off of my high blood pressur pill. Whoo-Hoo! It's on like Donkey Kong!0 -

Wow, I am so proud and happy for you. You are doing great. I love to see this improvement. Don't forget to log your food every day, keep under your calorie goal, and I am sure your doctor has told you this, but: Watch your salt intake too. Keep it as low as you can.0
