I did my personal best today! 15.32 miles in 60 min! I was so pumped afterwards that I did another 30 minutes AND had a better time with going 7.72 miles in 30 min.

Earlier today I had a checkup with my doctor. He was so surprised to see me. On January 19, 2011, I weighed 287 lbs (I had already lost 10 lbs from the beginning of the year) and today I weighed 249 lbs! For my reward, he prescribed a high blood pressure pill that is half of the dosage that I'm taking now. I'll see him again at the end of December. My goal - to be 20lbs lighter AND I can do it with all of this cycling! BTW, my doctor thought that if I kept losing weight, I could be entirely off of my high blood pressur pill. Whoo-Hoo! It's on like Donkey Kong!

congrats on both the doctors report and your cycling....:flowerforyou:

Rick are you going to set one up for October? I have to golf tomorrow I think but maybe will get a ride in late afternoon.

24 miles today, totaling 472 for September. 28 miles short of my goal but I'll take it anyway. Shooting for 500 miles next month too.

Great riding everyone. Keep it up next month.
  • I hit 371 miles for the month. Not bad when looking back at all the days I couldn't or didn't ride. My goal was 350, so that's good, but I am going for 400 next month and will make it. It is about to start raining and I have the rain gear in the mail from amazon.

I just have to ask, how did you ever arrive at 2,911 miles for you goal for the year? Why not 3,000 or 2950 or an even number? I just had to ask....

It is actually the number google maps give me for the distance between downtown San Francisco and downtown NYC along I-80. I started in April and one cross country trip seemed like a good goal for the rest of the year. I am just outside of Aurora, IL on my virtual trip.

Thanks all for your well wishes! Can't wait to get in the cycling challenge for next month. I'm going to drill it down to 125 miles because I'm going to focus on strength & endurance. It took me 5 months on the stationary bike at Level 1 to hit 15 mph. Now today I cranked the machine up to level 2 and got my 15+ miles in 60 minutes. Now I'll start Level 3 and will see how long it takes me to get to 14 miles. Today, my heart rate was up to 180 and I was biking at an average of 95 rpm's just to make it to the 15 miles. I don't want to fall out or anything.

I look forward to see your high mileage next month!

September bike total was 311 miles. Pretty good considering everything going on and I think my goal was 150. Hoping for 150 for October, losing daylight and the weather is getting cooler here. Did 30 today so only 120 left  .

Ended up with only 205 miles in September so I missed my goal of 250. I lose a lot of my weekend riding time with football games and work did not seem to cut me any breaks. Hopefully next month will be better, of course now I have to worry about the weather!

    Keep pedaling!

OK guys, here's the totals for this month: Total number of active riders: 22. Total number of miles cycled 5614.18.

So how far is that??? We could have had a relay ride from Miami, Fl to Anchorage, Alaska and still have 614 miles left over. Not bad for 22 individuals. Keep spinning guys :-)

Awesome. Thanks for your work on this. Makes it motivating to get on the bike, even on cold days.
