Good morning ladies. I spent the weekend outside in the rain taking photos of my daughters rugby game. ( they are undefeated and onto the playoffs !!)
For the first time since I've started here in April, I didn't log my calories. I just didn't feel like it. I don't think I ate too bad, I just didn't feel like keeping track and making those decisions. I'm pretty sure I would have been over, but not horribly. And quite frankly, I just don't care. So there
Well , that was yesterday so onto today. :bigsmile: The infamous Monday start day. I had oatmeal and a banana for breakfast and enjoyed every bite.
My weigh in is tomorrow and I'm sure it's the same as last week. I believe it's time to switch things up and not sure what to do. I already do circuit training class 3 days a week ( M,W,F) and use the elliptical on the other two days ( Tu, Thurs ). Saturday and Sundays are either rest days or a quick trip to the park or gym. So...how does one switch that up ?? I am thinking heavy weight training on Tues. Thurs, something to confuse the old body. I feel great at my current weight, I have 25 lbs to lose still. My legs, thighs and stomach still have work to be done there. So I see how weights can help with the fat burning process.
My classes are three different trainers, Monday is similar to insanity, Wednesday is similar to 30 day shred, and Friday is a combo of both styles. So I am doing weights, cardio and running in all of them. I feel like heavy weights is my only option. Opinions ??? anybody get to that point yet, what did you do ??
Kristel- wow :noway: I'm envious of all that house work and painting you did. I am so excited for your new furniture to come. I would love to do all that to my house. Yea, new stuff !! Congrats on hitting 50 lbs. :bigsmile:

Physical therapy starts on Tuesday. My knee really hurts. Doctor said no running, jumping, or wearing heels. I have been walking slowly, stop my big jumping workout. It's ok, giving me time to focus on abs.

Doing great! I came down with a little cold yesterday, but I know I'll recover quickly. I hope everyone is having a wonderful October. I went through my closet the other night and found a box of tops and winter clothes that I haven't worn in years because they were all too small. I was able to fit into all but two of the tops, so I hung them up. Those last two will fit in about 10 more pounds. I decided to thin out a few of my less-than-favorite oldies, since I don't like having a lot of "stuff". I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe. Now I need some new hangers (or possibly some more thinning).0 -

Krystel, great progress too despite being so busy. I think some busyness helps and others don’t. Congrats on hitting 50 pounds lost.
Sherrill and Gwen I am staying the same weight too this week. I am wondering about upping calories since I am not moving with them lower now and I am doing a lot of exercise. best wishes with your knees Sherrill and with your interview Gwen. Maintaining the weight you lose and exercising really has a lot of important benefits too.

Monday check in. I still haven't lost despite pretty much keeping calories under goal, doing well on water and exercising. However yesterday was an off day in that I was awakened at 4:00 AM to help my Mother who had fallen out of bed and went to the ER. We made it in time before they left so I could follow her to the right hospital. I stayed with her till we got her home and until another sister could relieve me. So no sleep and no exercise yesterday and food wasn't bad but with no exercise I went over. The day before I was under but I probably got too much sodium eating out. So if I made any progress this week it wasn't showing on the scale this morning. I think that since it is my first weeks of weight training and interval runs there is a good chance my muscles could be retaining water and I may be upping my percentage of muscle as well. So although I may be making progress that will help down the line I am not be seeing it on the scale. I was pretty good at the water but under the circumstances I think even more could help. I have been back to aquafit now that the pool is open again. It gets some areas nothing else does. Especially obliques and my core. It also keeps me well stretched out. I went this morning but need to go back to the gym and do my weight training. Wanted to get some breakfast first. I was reading that for fat burning 30- 45 minutes are optimal. I think that an hour of walking or aquafit is ok but I am thinking of limiting more intense cardio or weight training to 45 minutes at most unless I am just taking it slow or resting between sets I usually do well making healthy foods at home early in the week but with our schedule Thursday and Friday are harder.

My biggest issue- not sleeping. Our 4 year old has gotten up 3 times in the last week for hours in pain. It's either growing pains or flat feet, which I'm having checked tomorrow. I have had so little sleep that it's ridiculous. And I'm starting to munch on things. That needs to end. Happy to maintain this week.0 -
Okay, I'm going the wrong way... 189 this morning. :grumble:
So my new focus is weights/ less cardio. It's been too slow for quite a while. I went to this site recommended by a MFP member when I did a search for women lifting weights. I also put in a request for The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess [ from my local library. That should be at my branch in a day or two.

I chose lifting weights for over 40 for fat loss and training. ( heavy weights , lower reps ) I watched a few intro videos, but I do have to go to work, so I'll have to come back to it. I'm excited to get started. :bigsmile: I also have two boys and my hubby who like to lift, so at least it will be a total family thing and I will get us all motivated and eating better.
I look forward to learning a lot and getting a new understanding of this amazing thing we call our body.
Juliekin, growing pains are horrible, I hope your daughter gets through them quickly. My boys had terrible knee pains when they were little, woke up crying. It's so hard to see them like that and there isn't anything you can do. Poor baby, my heart goes out to her. :flowerforyou:

Just updating everyone's progress first off a big congratulations to runninggirl262 for reaching her goal way early of Dec 25!!! Her goal was 16 lbs by Dec 25 and on last weigh in she had lost 17 lbs!!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Awesome is all I can say!

Without doing any exercise I am just glad to be holding steady, each time I step on the scale I expect a big jump in the wrong direction. So far so good. I am going to try to do some walking this week, see how sore I get with that.0 -

I went to circuit training tonight. Feeling better about working out today. I need some new spandex pants, mine just crawl up my butt now and I constantly have a wedgie in class, therefore I stand in the back as not to offend anyone. :laugh: I guess losing some of my cheeks, there is nothing to hold them down. If anyone needs them JC Penney by me had a ton of the summer workout sport bras marked down to $4.97, I suppose I should go hunt down some pants . I would imagine they are marked down by you as well.
Now I'm going to eat my Jennie O turkey burger on a bagel thin with mustard and some red potatoes. what is everyone else eating lately for dinner?? Do tell :bigsmile: I think I'd rather have beef, but I'll have to eat these first.
I found a gruyere cheese triangle the other day at the store. Same as weight watcher cheese wedge or laughing cow. It was really good. Nice and creamy. I think 45 calories. Good snack with a pita or apple .

thanks for the shout out. Now need to figure out what to do. Really not supposed to be working out with the bad knee. Walked this morning. Shaking things up with the diet. Reducing carbs to 60g a day while increasing protein ( day one did not go so well).

This week has been a particularly stressful week for me. I got a phone call from my niece, who I am very close to . ( She still calls me Her Beth Ann ) . She just turned 36 this October 6th ...and she has been dealing with, heart problems for about 12 years now. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, with heart failure. She had just returned from a visit to the specialist she was referred to...and they told her, that ,her only hope was for a heart transplant. That she may want to start planning for her funeral. I just cant wrap my brain around that news. I feel so helpless. My sister's world is completely crashing down around her. . Both her children inherited this from their father. So, she has not one but both of her children dealing with the same thing. Then we got more bad news. My nephew ,who is 24 ,(my brothers son ) is being checked for a dark spot on his colon. It was discovered,when he was getting an ultrasound for a kidney stone he was having trouble passing. I pray for a miracle ,be it healing from God,or a heart to be available in the time of need, and the dark spot to be just that, a dark spot and nothing else. I am asking if you will please send your prayers or blessings to my niece,Amanda and my nephew Joseph. Thank you my friends. Beth0

hi guys,
i've got to confess i lost my way this past week or two. i've been very busy / stressed at work and although i was on holiday this past week i got out of the way of tracking my food input and exercise but................i'm back on track (pardon the pun) and have logged my food diary for the day and excercise taken.
although i have managed a small weight loss i was beginning to worry i'd not be able to get any further because i'd gotten out of the way of tracking.
anyway, tomorrow is another day and i'm going to make a bit more of an effort to take excercise and if i'm logging the food i eat i'm more likely to think twice about making poor choices.
i hope you have all been successful in your own personal quest to lose weight for Christmas. i love hearing of your successes and of being consoled that i'm not the only one who strays from the goal at times but we're all in this together so........

i've got to confess i lost my way this past week or two.
The past couple weeks have been emotionally stressful because of my job interviews. I kept logging my food, but my exercise has suffered. My progress has slowed, but I'm still here.

Saturday morning is a beautiful crisp day in Western NY . All the leaves are changing and falling and I was at the farmers market at 8 am before the really big crowds. It took two trips to the car to carry all my goodies. I bought more acorn squash and found a spaghetti squash . I am so excited. I had to hit 3 vendors to find one, all sold out ( at 8 AM !!) :noway: It must be worth it, I'll let ya know. I had made sauce this week, so I'll be trying it soon.
I got another bushel of assorted apples, gala my favs. and some I never heard of. I asked him to mix them up and put some pie apples in there. I already forgot the name of the one...:blushing: , my short term memory stinks. It's big and kinda greenish and I think begins with a "P"...plinkin ? Oh well. Regardless I'll be baking it. Then of coarse my green and red pepper for stuffed pepper soup, hot peppers, tomatoes , scallions, onions , broccoli , pizza dough from the baker guy....love veggie pizzas. Last but not least, some sweet potatoes.
Then off to the gym for a core and more class. I haven't been in over 2 months. What a great class. She did a lot of pilates type stretches and core work. NICE ! It sure beat jumping up and down doing those crazy burpees and jumping jacks. :laugh: We did a ton of shoulder work in last nights class , tomorrow I'll probably have to lay in bed all day when it all hits me at once.
Now it's barely 11 am and I feel so accomplished. Off to my daughters 1st playoff game. Gonna toss a roasted chicken in the crockpot for dinner and enjoy the rest of the day.
