    Good afternoon all!

I have a NSV from this weekend. We went to the state fair and I could actually fit into a couple of the kiddie rides with my son. We rode the swings and this one Jeep ride that goes through the jungle. The bars closed and the chains linked and I was able to ride with him.
    Awesomeness!!!

My NSV today. That time of the month and all the tight clothes were too big. This confused me. Then my favorite ring slipped, well actually flew off my largest finger and I realized if I don't want to lose the ring, I need to see a jeweler.

It is not my imagination, my double chins are getting smaller. My clothes fit very differently and yes, that was someone whistling at me out of a car window. Not classy but I promise you that hasn't happened to me since I was in my teens, like 13-16 or so.

    Interesting day.

Congrats busywaterbending, hockey7fan and ResilientWoman on your NSV's! Reading them was very inspiring. :flowerforyou:

Do any of you use protein powders? I am finally finishing my bag of shakeology (which i got about 6 months ago) and i've been wanting to get something else. I tried J Robb and I liked it but I was wondering if anyone else uses other brands. Thanks in advance!

Btw, I finally bought and downloaded the Primal Blueprint e-book! Can't wait to get a kindle for that so I can also download some recipe books and use it in the kitchen so I do not have to wrestle with flipping pages while I cook.

Thank you everyone for sharing your NSV's! I had one at bootcamp last night. I've really been working on perfecting my pushups, I did 100 perfect form last night (not all at once though). There was a groupon deal so there a quite a few newbies and when I finished a set, I looked up to see 3 of them had stopped what they were doing to watch me. I wish I had video to show them what I looked like when I started back in January to show how far I've come!

I have used Jay Robb before and liked it. I use MRM Whey Pumped French Vanilla. Pretty similar ingredient list, tastes good (similar again to the Jay Robb) and they source hormone-free milk. I found out that Jay Robb can't always source hormone-free milk so they supplement with whatever they can get to meet demand and maintain price. There's no way of knowing what you are actually getting. I buy the MRM chocolate egg protein for my daughter, it costs more but it tastes good and works for her needs. I get them both through iHerb.

I can't use the MRM products due to the soy and soy lecithins in it.

When I went Primal / Paleo I have been very diligent about not using any products that contain soy or manufactured in a factory where soy was present. That has helped tremendously with my Thyroid issues.

I always used the Jay Robb before as I have not tasted any proteins that taste any where close to Jay Robb. I wish the MRM products didn't contain soy or the lecithins.

I agree w/ Grokette, soy and soy lechithins are undigestible fillers I totally avoid like I avoid gluten. Why pay for something that I can't digest and will definitely make me sick? Funny how we all educate ourselves about food choices so much more in the paleo lifestyle. Lechithins are lethal for all, if you haven't looked into them you should. Soy was a product the Chinese and the Japanese treasured in their fields to restore nitrogen in the soil, it wasn't consumed! Tofu is a new creation....

http://www.jayrobb.com/protein/whey-protein-vanilla.asp doen't use BGH in the products.

    Anyway...

Question: I've not been able to get an orthopedic specialist to look at my knee since the dog bite. That dog yarned on my leg pretty darn hard and I've had an issue ever since wiht the back of my knee. My low impact skating and my walking on it is pretty darn low key, yet the calf muscle will not cease swelling up! The puffiness is getting worse. What to do?

I have an appointment in December 30 in VA. An old doctor is the only one that will see me, something about knee problems are a liability issue no doctor in TX wants to get into. WTF? When has medical science and treatment become so pic and choose? Do I just stay off of it completely?? My Chiropractor says I have to move. *sigh* I really want to get into doing a more solid fitness schedule w/ my lower body but the past two lower body workouts have not been good recovery wise.

What is the best paleo sweetener if I wanted to use just a touch? Honey? agave?
Do any of you ever use stevia?

I have been avoiding all so far 99% of the time but I feel like I want to have a little "splurge" on the holidays without going totally crazy.

not sure if its Paleo but i love the liquid vanilla stevia from Nunaturals. I only sweeten my tea or coffee so a bottle of that will probably last for a few months!

Depending on what it is I'm sweetening I use Honey, Stevia or Maple syrup.

I just get the little packs of Stevia and use them in my coffee or tea...

2nd time eating at Chipolte and getting a minor minor reaction... tummy ache and bloating.. on a scale of 1-10 only a 3-4. (before going paleo I was in a constant state of 8 !!)

All I got both times was a kids taco meal with no taco shell- LOL
    chipolte chicken
    shredded cheese
    lettuce
    and the pico salsa.

When I went to check ingredients the only listed is soy in the chicken. I have cut out ALL other soy. So I am wondering if it COULD be soy or if I am so sensitive to gluten that things could be contaminated.

Weird! Amazing how sensitive our bodies can get when we run on clean pure paleo foods all the time! Then again, I was bloated and in pain before!

I just found Dymatize Elite Egg Protein. It's 100% egg so it's totally Paleo friendly (no soy or whey) and it's really tasty whether it's mixed in vanilla almond or coconut milk or blended with water and frozen berries. I love it! OH and it's 110 cals, 24g Protein and 2g Carbs

Mellow, happy day. Watched Hawaii Five O with a dear neighbor. I really enjoy spending time with my neighbor who has 2 boys both a little older than my daughter. Both my neighbor and the adult cat she recently adopted have bizarrely bad "IBS". I'm not certain that she and her vet aren't missing the point. Grain = OUCH!!! for many of us both four footed and two.

My cat has no more behavior problems or symptoms of diabetes since we switched her to grain free food. My dog has no more (TMI warning) EXPLOSIVE, extra foul smelling, liquid bowel movements.

My daughter has NOT been to the ER over her stomach (or any other thing) in 7 months.

What do the geriatric feline, ancient canine and the only 6 year old daughter have in common? They all went gluten/grain free about 7 months ago. I followed shortly thereafter and we are all so much happier and healthier for it. March/April of 2011 changed everything because we changed how we think about what we fuel ourselves.

Today my Kidling is as creative in the kitchen as I am, often a little more so. LOL She self selects to limit potatoes, beans and processed foods to a teeny tiny bare minimum, usually from contamination or in a treat meal that is otherwise gluten free and primarily Paleo. I never set out to teach her to adopt a paradigm. I set out to teach her how to listen to her body and take careful note for minutes to 4 days later of what it is made happy by and what upsets it.

She likes being in charge of making herself feel good. When my friends kids grow up not able to recognize real food as edible and not able to pinpoint why they feel so listless, depressed and unwell, my kid will be seducing them with stories of what new Primal feast we cooked together. When she watches kids begin to have body image issues, she encourages them that if they don't like the way they feel or look, they can always make different choices like her mom did or she does.

She is 6 now. What on earth will come of all the little Paleo-ites, Groklings and real food loving tots when they all grow up, found communities and blossom?!? I don't have a clue but I can't wait!!!

I use plain liquid stevia in tea and coffee. I guess if you used the herb the fluid is extracted from it would be considered paleo...and my understanding is that it has no effect on blood sugar or insulin response.

I love to bake, and while I try to give almost everything away that I do bake, there are a few things I plan to enjoy over the holidays. My favorite sweetener is maple syrup and there are lots of recipes on the web. Maple syrup pecan pie is lovely. I will be experimenting with nut crusts soon. :)
