I've made sweet potato fries for bf and I a couple of times as we are french fry folks too! They turn out amazingly well baked.......I think the recipe was listed today by someone..........they really fill that desire.

How bad are sweet potato fries for you? It's one of my fav things to eat in the caf, (they only have them once every two weeks or so) but I don't want to pig out if they're bad.

I don't know how the ones are made in your cafeteria, but see the post "Crispy yam fries" under Recipes here, that shows the calories and serving size for that recipe. Hopefully that will help you, they're obviously better than real fried (deep in the oil) french fries.

Hey everyone. Good job on all the good choices that were made today. Very proud of you all. I didn't do so well in the eating department nor did I exercise today. My ear is all stuffed up and I can't hear out of it. Guess I'm still congested. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

On a positive note, but par for the course, I weighed this morning and had lost 1.2 pounds! Go figure, the day after the official weigh in. Oh well! Next week should show a loss.

    Keep on keepin on greenies:bigsmile:

Everyone's doing such an awesome job!!!! I love coming on here and reading all of your posts!!! I'm still having a hard time comprehending that I have to eat "back" all the calories that I burn working out!!! I get the whole, "body goes into starvation mode" but it still seems so weird to me! Last night I worked out for almost an hour and a half and had to eat my calories I saved for dinner plus my work out calories. It was 900 something calories...I couldn't eat them all! I was tempted to go have some Taco Bell (my fav!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially 4th meal!!! ) I didn't but I definitely didn't eat all 900 calories.

Does anyone know if you can "save" calories? Like eat less one day because you know you'll go over the next?? You know, kind of like "roll-over calories"!!!

Well, keep with it everyone!!!!!! Tomorrow's my worst day, HAPPY HOUR!!!!!! I used to love it. HAHA! :drinker:

They don't seem super greasy. I don't even think they're deep fried. Well, maybe, but they still actually taste like sweet potatoes. I try not to eat more than 10 or 15...

On a different note, do I have to eat all my workout calories? I did Hip Hop Hustle tonight and burned 650 cals in an hour (I ache so bad right now). I ate about 1,500 cals today and still have a good 300 left. Is that ok?

Well, I'm certainly not an expert, but if you read the newbie threads, they say you should eat your exercise calories as MFP is already set you at a deficit for the calories to lose weight, anything less, you will be back to starvation mode. some don't do it all the time, but try to get as close as they can.
  • LOSER 4 REAL I MIGHT JUST GIVE THIS TO YOU THEN CAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IM DOING IVE JUST BEEN LUCK TO THIS POINT

BUT HERES THE NEW ONE WITH CORECTIONS ALSO CHANGED THE PIC TO SEE EVERYTHING BETTER FROGS ARE COOLER ANYWAYS TURTLES ARE LAZY JUST SITTING AROUND AND GIVE NO MOTIVATION LOL

I love the new chart, n2dfire! And sure, I'll be happy to help out however I can. It certainly wasn't a complaint though so please don't take it that way, okay? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for all you are doing, you're a great leader!
  • Porka29 - awesome job on pushing through and going to the gym. :flowerforyou: It really helps to have someone else helping you along, doesn't it? Hubby and I are the same way, if one isn't up to it, the other will say "come on, let's go." And you feel so great afterwards that you are glad you went after all! And good girl for being so diligent logging EVERYTHING.

Sassie - great job on all the healthy choices. :flowerforyou: That's what this whole journey is about, one choice at a time! And that is great you are able to listen to your body. Ever since I started eating more frequently and consistently my body definitely lets me know when it's time for something.

Kels - hang in there girlie. :flowerforyou: Good for you for grabbing the bull by the horns, stating your intentions out loud, and actually doing something about it. We know you can do it…whatever it takes, posting all night long if you need to! Go for it!

Jacque - way to go! :flowerforyou: You resisted the fries--you are a stronger woman than me. I love baked sweet potato fries too…yum! May have to make some for dinner tonight.

Yeahbuddy - I'm sorry you are still feeling bad… I hope it all clears up and you get to feeling 100% SOON! :flowerforyou:

Violet - I really don't know anything about the rollover calories theory. I have seen some threads on here talking about it, but I typically try to keep it day by day (if I go over one day the next day is a clean slate and I just move on). Feel free to do a search to see the differing opinions. As for exercise calories, I admit I don't eat them all back, but that's because I discussed it with my trainer and we both agree that since I still have quite a bit to lose, that a higher caloric deficit is acceptable. It seems to be working so far for me. Of course, I'll re-evaluate once I get closer to goal.

NWCountryGal - did you ever get the answer to your question about your initial weight? What you submit as your starting weight should be where you were at at the time you joined the team. For some folks that will be close to or the same as their MFP start weight if they just joined. But if you've been here a while and lost some prior to joining the team, then you count your weight from that point forward. Does that make sense? If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Keep on keepin' on GREEN. You guys are all doing great!

    Happy Friday!

  • *ughhhhh* either my scale lied to me Wed, or it lied to me today lol up and down up and down. THIS is the reason we are not supposed to weigh every day!
I went over yesterday  willingly and with my eyes wide open Im afraid. I didnt feel well, had a horrible headache and in order to keep taking meds, I had to keep putting food in my tummy or I get really sick. ya ya ya... excuses excuses excuses... I was feeling pretty confident yesterday I think because I had a good loss last week and I guess I fooled myself into thinking I was okay. Well here today, no headache thank God, new bed comes today OMG I CANT WAIT, I get off work early so I have a few free hours. Im going to play with my Wii Fit and try to correct the damage done from yesterday lol.
Im roasting a turkey today and sweet potatos ( minus the marshmallows lol) and a big salad for supper so that shouldnt kill me today. I think today is going to be a good one :)

Wishing everyone a really happy Friday !

Don't miss them, have some! I buy the Ore-Ida Steak Fries and cook them in the oven. I think there are 7 per portion and they are really good. I don't pour ketchup "on" them, I put some(a little)in a bowl just so I can barely dip my fry in it and get that taste:) It works honest it does:) Im losing weight  :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: I also had a piece(whole piece)of lemon pudding cake at a single women's dinner at my church the other night!!! It had whip cream on top too:) Let me know if I can help you with some meal planning. Be glad to:wink: denise

Remember the muscle you are building as well. The scales are not the only tool to measure success:wink: I go over my calories atleast 2 times a week and I am still losing. There is an article floating around somewhere here, that talks about it being good to fluctuate(go over once in awhile and even under once in awhile). I wake up with headaches a lot. I am not sure how much is "allergies" from the air around this valley or not enough water at times. You are here and that to me says "winner"!! Still so many out "there" that are uneducated about fitness and nutrition. I tell everyone I meet about this site hoping they will join and find what we have found:wink:

eek..I am so afraid of my choices this weekend!!!! I have to go to a friends bday dinner tonight then out dancing..I am going to order just chicken and veges, but I am afraid of the alcohol...and tomorrow I have to attend a going away party..they asked me to make cake...but I WONT! I am still scared I will go crazy and eat whatever....oy.....
  • Well I just completed Day 2 of 30-Day Shred and once again - it kicked my butt:sad:
Gonna take the weekend off from "Shredding" but will resume on Monday, but that doesn't mean I won't exercise over the weekend. I figured I'll do the Shred Monday-Friday and see how that goes. Also, I have a Bowflex that hasn't been used in 2 years, so I'm gonna dust it off and start training 3x a week with my honey.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and a great SuperBowl Sunday. Remember, it's ok to indulge once in a while. I try to give myself 1 cheat day a week that way I don't overeat when I'm craving something.......:drinker: :drinker:

HAPPY FRIDAY GREEN BEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So honey and I have a meeting with one of my closest friends who happens to be my old boss, a current client and closer to my dad then anyone, so we tell him I am dieting so when we meet today we need to pick something other then McDonalds if possible......wouldn't ya know he chooses a Salad Buffet! Argh, thats the worst....why you say? Because for $8.50 I eat a salad......at a buffet.........sounds crazy right? IT IS....why? cause you could eat 1500 cals at a buffet......argh....think I am gonna recommend a regular old restaurant.

So anyway, we are all gonna have a GREAT weekend of getting healthy, stay true to your body at those super bowl parties..........

    GO GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Friday afternoon, everyone. Today I did much better but still have an earache. I'm going to the gym after work for an hour on the elliptical. Tomorrow morning, I'm going on a 2 mile walk with some friends then I have a bunch of paperwork to do at home. Hopefully, I do well tomorrow so I can cheat a little on Sunday:happy:

Here's to a successful weekend for one and all:drinker:

    TGIF!!

Well, today has been really OFF for me. I ran errands, which is a drive of about 25 miles to where we shop. I did take one snack, and water. Have a lot of calories to eat yet....Do any of you have calorie counters of heart rate monitors that you wear? please share any info/likes/dislikes. i am considering getting one. the JM 30 - day shredd sounds like a good investment also! something that is starting to make sense to me, is that we honestly need to eat all day long....sounds crazy, but it really does make a difference in stablilizing our sugar levels.

n2dfire ~ i did that check too on the home page. if i continue to follow the current plan MFP has, i will lose 10 lbs in 5 weeks. this will be interesting to see the results. again, thanks for the fine job on the chart.....'green team froggers'!

violet1 ~ 'roll over calories', I LOVE IT!

sassiebritches ~ mmmm, salad bars are my favorite! i could easily eat 2 platefuls of salad. i get strange looks from my family when i eat more salad then all the other yummy foods!

porka29 ~ hey, thanks for the 'sunshine'...we will be having warmer temps Sat, and hopefully out of the single digits/teens for a while. mmmm, delish SUBWAY!

velvetwig ~ that is one thing i want to do more....bake/roast turkey, and freeze a lot of it.

kels0724 ~ willpower/MINDPOWER! i am learning when i am hungry (not physically), that really i am 'searching'....could be boredom, sad, lonely, anxious. really look at what it is you truly want.....i know you can do it!

jaque509 ~ yeah, good control over the fries, and even better the choice w/Subway! kudos to you!

yeahbuddy ~ take care and get better soon!

WELCOME to all the newbies! so glad to have you along on this journey!

well, time to get some supper here and a good nites rest later for my all-day wrestling (bus trip) meet 2morrow. have a good weekend GT! can't wait to check back!

Well, I went to the dr. after work tonight and I have an ear infection in my right ear and a bulging ear drum with lots of fluid behind it in my left ear. Plus, I'm still coughing a little. So, I got some medication and hopefully will be back full board by Monday.

Thanks to all for your well wishes, I really appreciate it:flowerforyou:

(Where's our fearless leader been today?)

Forgot to say I didn't work out tonight:frown:
