10 mi. from PITTSBURGH, PA----attending games to see the STEELERS, PIRATES, PENGUINS
    zoo
    Carnegie museum
    Phipps conservatory---botanical gardens
recreation galore---biking trails, hiking trails, 3 rivers to boat on

I kayak at least 2 times/week on a lake that is 10min. from me and walk/bike on the Montour trail, a Rails to Trails project. I am blessed that all this is close by!

I live in Havelock, NC. Honestly, if there wasn't a Marine base here, this place would probably be a ghost town.

Fort Knox, KY! About an hour or 2 away, there is plenty to do! In Louisville, there is the Science Center, Zoo, Louisville Slugger Museum, Kentucky Derby, and so so so many other museums and art centers to visit! Lots of stuff for the kids to do! About 2hrs south of here is Bowling Green and there are dairy farms to visit, the Corvette Museum, Dinosaur World, cave tours, etc! People complain about not having things to do here, but I like it! Yes you should definitely make a day of it, but it's worth it! When we go to Bowling Green, we hit up the corvette museum, dinosaur world, and the malls and have lunch or dinner out there.

I live in Fort Myers Florida, and even though our economy SUCKS, I love it!! Once the snow birds start coming back we have fairs, festivals, art and craft shows, boat shows, big boy toy shows, you name it we have it, almost every weekend!!! It is a great place to live. We go boating, fishing, and camping, our malls are outdoor malls for the most part, and they are usually hosting bands and whatnot. And of course we have the beach, not really my thing, but lots of others love it. The sun shines almost everyday, we rarely have rainy weekends, and when we do, we get together ,make comfort food and enjoy the time hang out indoors with friends!! I LOVE WHERE I LIVE.

I'm with you....I love it here in Florida - live in North Port. Just want to add - while the snow birds are away boy, do the restaurants print the coupons - BOGO's everywhere during the summer!! Yes, you can eat healthy in a restaurant - especially at half price!!!LOL!LOL!

I live in the thriving metropolis of Montrose, Michigan. Our claim to fame is the annual Blueberry Festival which will take place next weekend. Nothing much to do here. We can drive 20 miles north to Saginaw and risk getting shot or we can drive 20 miles south to Flint and risk getting shot. Fortunately, there is really no crime here, although we did locate a body yesterday which was transported here from Troy, MI and dumped. HUGE NEWS!

Seriously, we 'can' avoid the danger spots in Flint and Saginaw and find things to do.

    Taso42,

Ha, Seattle is beautiful. I'm guessing you said there is nothing to do there because you don't want too many people moving there. I live in a place where too many people are moving here and the crowds are ruining it. There is nothing to do here but shop and eat, but you can get a huge house for the money. I live in Texas, BTW.

I live in Tampa, Florida (mid-west in the state). I live 75 minutes from Orlando, FL. If you don't know, that is where Disney World is located. Also, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Epcot Center. There is a whale place/park there too, but I have forgotten it's name. Busch Gardens is located in Tampa. Lego Land is about 35 minutes from Tampa. Also, Tampa, is just a few minutes away from some of the most gorgeous beaches. Oh yeah, and we have a place called Gator Land, too!!!
