10 mi. from PITTSBURGH, PA----attending games to see the STEELERS, PIRATES, PENGUINS
zoo
Carnegie museum
Phipps conservatory---botanical gardens
recreation galore---biking trails, hiking trails, 3 rivers to boat on
I kayak at least 2 times/week on a lake that is 10min. from me and walk/bike on the Montour trail, a Rails to Trails project. I am blessed that all this is close by!0 -
I live in Havelock, NC. Honestly, if there wasn't a Marine base here, this place would probably be a ghost town.0

I'm from Paris, France! Loads of fun stuff to do!0

Fort Knox, KY! About an hour or 2 away, there is plenty to do! In Louisville, there is the Science Center, Zoo, Louisville Slugger Museum, Kentucky Derby, and so so so many other museums and art centers to visit! Lots of stuff for the kids to do! About 2hrs south of here is Bowling Green and there are dairy farms to visit, the Corvette Museum, Dinosaur World, cave tours, etc! People complain about not having things to do here, but I like it! Yes you should definitely make a day of it, but it's worth it! When we go to Bowling Green, we hit up the corvette museum, dinosaur world, and the malls and have lunch or dinner out there.0

I live in Fort Myers Florida, and even though our economy SUCKS, I love it!! Once the snow birds start coming back we have fairs, festivals, art and craft shows, boat shows, big boy toy shows, you name it we have it, almost every weekend!!! It is a great place to live. We go boating, fishing, and camping, our malls are outdoor malls for the most part, and they are usually hosting bands and whatnot. And of course we have the beach, not really my thing, but lots of others love it. The sun shines almost everyday, we rarely have rainy weekends, and when we do, we get together ,make comfort food and enjoy the time hang out indoors with friends!! I LOVE WHERE I LIVE.
I'm with you....I love it here in Florida - live in North Port. Just want to add - while the snow birds are away boy, do the restaurants print the coupons - BOGO's everywhere during the summer!! Yes, you can eat healthy in a restaurant - especially at half price!!!LOL!LOL!0 -
I live in the thriving metropolis of Montrose, Michigan. Our claim to fame is the annual Blueberry Festival which will take place next weekend. Nothing much to do here. We can drive 20 miles north to Saginaw and risk getting shot or we can drive 20 miles south to Flint and risk getting shot. Fortunately, there is really no crime here, although we did locate a body yesterday which was transported here from Troy, MI and dumped. HUGE NEWS!
Seriously, we 'can' avoid the danger spots in Flint and Saginaw and find things to do.0 -
Taso42,
Ha, Seattle is beautiful. I'm guessing you said there is nothing to do there because you don't want too many people moving there. I live in a place where too many people are moving here and the crowds are ruining it. There is nothing to do here but shop and eat, but you can get a huge house for the money. I live in Texas, BTW.0 -
tmarie2715,
I think he is joking about there being nothing to do in Seattle.0 -
We live in Ohio, near Cincinnati, there's Kings Island - an amusement park, Newport on the Levee which has comedy clubs, food, bars, game places, etc. lots of camping/hiking places, all kinds of things, yet we never find anything to do, lol... maybe we need a daycation0

Tampa, Fl.
Beaches, Ybor City, Hardrock Casino, Busch Gardens (theme park) and about an hour away from Disney and Universal Studios.0 -
I live in Tampa, Florida (mid-west in the state). I live 75 minutes from Orlando, FL. If you don't know, that is where Disney World is located. Also, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Epcot Center. There is a whale place/park there too, but I have forgotten it's name. Busch Gardens is located in Tampa. Lego Land is about 35 minutes from Tampa. Also, Tampa, is just a few minutes away from some of the most gorgeous beaches. Oh yeah, and we have a place called Gator Land, too!!!0

I live in Lexington Kentucky. I am a grad student and I also have two toddlers so I dont have time to do much.0

Wyoming - just about anything you would want to do. Mountains are just outside the front door - Summertime - fishing, camping, mountain biking, ATV riding, horseback riding. Wintertime - skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing. Several major tourist attractions available for weekend-cations - Devils Tower, Yellowstone Park, South Dakota and Colorado attractions within weekend-cation distance. Looking for Big City attractions for the day - Denver is close by for Museums, Zoo, Gambling (45 minutes from Denver). Never without some type of activity available.0

Hahaha I know what you mean:) I'm from East Tawas and I avoid Flint and Saginaw like the plague!0 -
I live in East London. There's a lot to do but I usually don't because it gets expensive. I haven't even been to see the Olympics0
-
Chicago, everything you can think of is at your fingertips here. Love all the free concerts in the park and the pier.0

I'm from East Tawas MI. We have around 6000ish people here year round. The population doubles in the summer (or at least seems like it does). Tawas is a small tourist town in northeastern Michigan. We are right on the shore of Lake Huron. We have boating, swimming, fishing, hunting, shopping in botiques, quite a few restaraunts, of course several bars and liquor stores, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, lots of activities. Perchville is also big here, though I don't go ice fishing. After living in a lot of different areas I actually enjoy living here:)0

Technically born and raised in St. Joseph, MO. Just recently moved south to Kansas City. Where I LOVE it. Westport, 39th Street, The Plaza, Downtown, Martini Corner (where I live), Loose Park, Union Station, Nelson Atkins, Liberty Memorial...Don't even get me started on The BBQ!
St. Joe has uhhh....A lot of fast food, restaurants, ice cream places, bars. The Pony Express Stables, Museum Hill district (look them up) Oh and a museum for an insane asylum! Yep...0 -
I'm from Paris, France! Loads of fun stuff to do!
Ive been there:) It is a pretty cool place.0 -
I live in the middle of Missouri. It is amaZing how much there is to do here. Columbia is a college town with all that involves. It bring things to town that usually don't exist in a town of 100,000. Jefferson City has the goverment and that give that town its own mix of thing. We have the Missouri River, Lake of the Ozarks and Branson if you are into that. Then there is St. Louis. The Botanical Gardens have brought in Chinese Lanterns this summers. On a hot evening, it can be a good two hour walk to see all of them.0
