You can go up the hill and ski; Mountain bike, road bike, run, movies, theater, concerts, dining, hang out in the middle of town; Take an hour trip to the ocean, go to the river or lake to swim, fish or whatever; Hiking trails; Lots of festivals/events year round.

Small town called Brush, CO. Big farming community, not much to do out here. An hour and a half drive to big chain shopping. There is a gym 10 miles away...Thank God. It has been my saving grace. I find I tend to stay inside and do crafty "stuff" more often than not.

LOL I LOVE Seattle, never been to DC but its on my list...

I live in Phoenix Arizona. We can drive 4-6 hours and be at the beach, or we can drive 4 hours to the Grand Canyon, or Sedona (about an hour and a half) plus we have other little towns to visit. I love doing this. Hubbie doesn't love it so much so we dont do it very often.

Also there are so many beautiful hikes to take around town. There is quite a bit of things to do here. We hike, geocache, camp, I love to shop hehe.

But yea, I agree it is fun to be touristy for the day.

KC Metro. Lots of live music/small venues. Sports - football, baseball, soccer.. (not my thing - tho' I do enjoy the Mavericks' hockey games). Museums. Walking the "City of Fountains" is cool. Live Theatre. A couple amusement parks (2 water large parks! great in the summer time), a couple indoor water parks/hotels. During the summer there are "free" outdoor concerts all over town. Boatloads of 5K, Half Marathons and a few Marathons for racers... Lots of lakes and natural parks nearby for hiking, biking, camping, etc., I guess I could go on and on...

I live in Fort Myers Florida, and even though our economy SUCKS, I love it!! Once the snow birds start coming back we have fairs, festivals, art and craft shows, boat shows, big boy toy shows, you name it we have it, almost every weekend!!! It is a great place to live. We go boating, fishing, and camping, our malls are outdoor malls for the most part, and they are usually hosting bands and whatnot. And of course we have the beach, not really my thing, but lots of others love it. The sun shines almost everyday, we rarely have rainy weekends, and when we do, we get together ,make comfort food and enjoy the time hang out indoors with friends!! I LOVE WHERE I LIVE.

Great sports and rec stuff, amazing shopping, community art walks, museums, tons of theaters and lots of concert venues that are always having tons of varied artists. I love it here.

    I live in Lancaster, CA.

We are a 15 minute drive to the beautiful snowy mountains (well Nov - March), 2 hours from numerous beaches, I live in the dessert so there are always adventures to be had on quads, bikes, sand rails etc. a couple hours away is Lake Isabella (HUGE) and the Kern River (BEAUTIFUL) there are any number of year-round camping sites which of course includes hiking, fishing swimming, boating etc.; about an hour and a half from Disneyland, and Knott's Berry Farm, and about 45 min from Six Flags Magic Mountain; many amazing theme styled fun restaurants. and for a wonderful weekend get away you can travel to Catalina Island (one of my favs) or down to lovely San Diego. Of course depending on the time of year we have great sporting events Angels, Dodgers, Lakers, (well not this year), the Ducks and maybe SOMEDAY we will have a football team. Of course some less expensive things are movies, bowling, miniature golf, go carts, laser tag, batting cages well the list goes on and on. And don't get me started on our wonderful sunsets...yep can you tell I love my California!! One of the few born and raised....and there is much more to do but well I can't think of everything...oh yes don't forget Las Vegas is only three hours away!!!! yee haw!!!!

It's a tower. The boats take you places, they are not Carnival Cruise Lines.
