  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm spinach, my favorite-hardly-any-calories fridge item that I love to eat on just about everything. LOL Its a great antioxidant and filler! Never had it with lemon juice tho....gonna have to give that a shot!! I normally use walnuts, dried cranberries and a all natural raspberry vinagrette.

I still have about 700 calories left today because it was a workout day and a long one at that. I still need about 3 more glasses of water but I feel like Im floating already. Ive been kinda bad about drinking ALL of my water lately, which is something I am determined to change this week!! So please... someone kick my (_I_) and make me drink more of it..

Spinach is soooo good!!! I love spinach salads compared to lettuce

Just a word on ellipticals. Use a personal heart rate monitor. Ellipticals are notorious for over estimating your calories burned. I found them to be as high as 300 cals TOO high once I started using my HRM. There are several threads going around here right now about ellipticals and that is frequently mentioned. Try to find some of those threads.

Best advice is always use a HRM. The kind with a chest strap. The wrist-only ones aren't worth buying.

Yeah Blockbuster sucks! 6$ for a new release seriously?!?!?! We usually go to Rogers (I think it is only Canadian), but we forgot to bring back two movies from last weekend, and the late charges, and stupid!

NETFLIX, eh. The best. Hardly ever mess up, unlimited monthly rentals, all online ordering. Mail back. Reasonable price. I use their site to look up movies that are on TV, too, to see if I want to watch them - since it rates them for me according to my tastes and my past reviews of the hundreds of movies I've rated.
Now that they have streaming movies I think it is even better!

If I send a movie back on Monday, I get another one on Wednesday. They have lots of distribution centers so they are fast. Is there a Canadian Netflix?

I do not think we have netflix for Canada, you guys get all the good cheap things:angry:

Except free health care and gym memberships with our tuition.........I'll trade ya for the Netflix:grumble:

Welcome all the new people! Looks like everyone is doing great!

Ok, gotta brag. My son's 16th birthday was yesterday and he wanted Applebee's (which there was just another thread about how horrible it is for you) and it was 9:30 at night after his basketball game. I had already eaten dinner. I stuck with just a cup of decaf. DH was eating chicken caesar salad, hungry teenage boy was eating chicken strips and fries, and I had...decaf. :drinker:

I bet my tummy was a whole lot happier than theirs were last night!

Ok, gotta go workout because we are having the birthday party tonight with his friends and I am planning a slice of ice cream cake into my calorie count for the day!

Everyone have a great weekend! :flowerforyou:

    :drinker: :drinker:

    Nitag~ Welcome aboard!!

Get_fit~ Wish your son a very happy birthday for me! Ice cream cake... mmmmm! I havent had that in YEARS! Enjoy the party!

I woke up this morning with a stuff nose. Ughh, I REALLY hope that its just allergies and that Im not getting sick. My daughter was sick last week with a yucky cough and my workout buddy was also off all last week from the gym fighting a bad cold. I feel fine otherwise, just hopping that this nose thing is a temporary allergy thing.

Im babysitting today from 12-5, then Im off to buy new sports bra's for me and my oldest daughter. She starts track here in a few weeks (boy is she gonna be surprised when I ask her if she wants to go run..LOL) Also have to find some new shoes for the gym and for my son. His feet are growing like crazyyyyy!

    Have a wonderful day everyone!

Have fun running with your daughter!

Thanks! It will be a few weeks before I actually ask her to go run with me. She has ran cross country and track every year since she started high school and shes a junior this year. Ive been plugging little jogs in on the treadmill when Im walking and Im now up to about 6 minutes of straight running time....LOL A big difference (for me) from last week when I could barely make it 2 minutes in any given stretch. Anyway... her freshman year she was at 5 minutes 40 seconds in the mile and has improved alot since then, so its gonna be interesting keeping up with her.. Im just looking forward to seeing her face when I make it a full mile, running on the track. She is gonna be :noway:  teehee!

  • How is everyone doing this fine Saturday afternoon?

I just got back from 4 hours of snow shoeing....god am I tired! It was REALLY fun though, it was such a beautiful nice day here, and even more so up the mountains. I would not recommend it if you are not pretty fit already, your legs will hurt, and you will get really tired going up hill! We went with a great group of people, and had a blast! Yay.....

Okay time for nap now talk to you ladies later!:flowerforyou:

That sounds like a fun workout! Have a nice nap! I wish I had time for a nap before the boys all show up, but I don't see it happening. :grumble: Oh well, tomorrow is my rest day so I can sleep in. Of course, I'm so used to getting up early that 6:00 is sleeping in for me.

So Im home, took the kids shopping and found some new workout clothes for me. Also got a new pair of asic shoes for the gym. I plan on wearing them tonight to see how they work out for wogging (walk/jogging). They were $30 at ross, normally $100..so Im really hoping that they work. Also found a couple sports bras and a new pink tank shirt to go with my workout pants. Havent tried it on yet, but Im thinking about taking a picture so I have something to compare with later.

Chanty--Snow shoeing sounds fun and exhausting!! I have a hard time walking in snow anyway. We got 2 feet here around Christmas this year but it was all icy after the first day. I love the snow, but not when its icy. Where did you go hike? Do you have alot of snow there now?

I havent gotten my workout in yet today. Gonna go hit the gym after the rugrats (ages 4 and 11 weeks) Im watching go home around 5. Then I gotta hit the grocery store and restock my essential and get some stuff for dinner this week. Plus i gotta some snack stuff to HIDE from the kids. Not only did they eat all the fugebars in a matter of 2 days... they also sucked down all my chocolate milk syrup. I thought i had enough to make some last night around 10:30 and sure enough, they had found the last of it even tho I had hid it in the fridge UNDER all the veggies in the back of the fridge..:explode:  little heathens! I have a very hard time drinking milk unless its flavored or whirled with fruit in the blender, so this was just darn frustrating to me. I dont eat many sweets anymore, but when I have an urge and calories to fill in... I need a "good for me" solution...so its frustrating when there is none left by the time i get to it. Time to hide it better and make it clear its HANDS OFF!!

Whew! What a day you've had! (Reminds me of my life about 10 years ago, when my kids were little. Even though I never babysat, it was always busy with kids everywhere!)
