Thanks to everyone for your birthday wishes both here and on Facebook. You are all such an important part of my life. The family took me out for a wonderful dinner. I did cave and have steak, salad, baked potato and a cup of tomato orzo soup. It was all delicious and I only had a few bites of dessert.

    Happy Anniversary, Chris!

Take care and keep smiling. Gayla

there hasn't been much posting today so I suppose everyone is busy preparing or traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday----of course, it isn't Thanksgiving in Canada so there must be something different going on there and in other parts of the world.

:flowerforyou: We have to bring a salad and drive about an hour and a half to celebrate Thanksgiving with people we hardly know. We had Thanksgiving with them two years ago. One member of the family is Jake's good friend so it will be great for Jake. Everyone is nice and I remember the food being delicious last time.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I just ordered a pair of high top boots with great tread on the bottom for traction on ice, good ankle support, waterproof, and rated to keep your feet warm to -25 F so I'll be ready for winter walking with the dogs.

Hope you are right Barbie. It seems like everyone is drifting away. Glad you found some 'ready to tackle the elements' boots. My dh got a pair at wal mart that he loves so much, he got a second pair, and then said I should get a pair as well!

Shirley, your excitement reads right thru to us! Glad you will have a good time.

Ive been reading recipes, most of which I wont ever cook. Got a baked zucchini dish that I may try.
hope you all are happy and healthy for this Thanksgiving.

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes, we got married Nov. 20, 1965 and we still like each other, we will always love each other but when you really like someone thats the best.

Today we are going to meet our son for coffee and talk, then we are going swimming and hitting the hot tub. After that I am going to make pies and salads to my daughters for Thanksgiving. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon.

    So HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

Make sure to drink lots of water in between. I told Dave to bring
some extra water for us to drink in the Hotel and for shopping.

We are not celebrating Thanksgiving in Canada but since I am American
I get to celebrate twice. Lucky me!

We will be leaving tomorrow for our adventure weekend so today is my
last day of work this week WOO HOO:drinker:

Happy Tuesday!! KInd of a dreary day but I am meeting my friends at the Casino because I got a postcard that says I can get a free jacket between certain hours. I don't know why I am so busy lately but there just doesn't seem to be enough time in one day. I took Babe to the doctor yesterday to have his bandage changed and he still can't drive or walk Daisy for at least two more weeks. :noway: Last night I had dinner for my future DIL who turned 29, her finance my son will be 40 next week.
Saturday we went to the banquet with the nuns and it took forever to serve dinner, we were all starving but then it was near 9:00 and almost to late to eat so we didn't eat much. Marisa (6) and I spent a lot of time on the dance floor so I got some exercise that night. I have booked a trip for Spring Break to Club Med in Florida for me, Cheryl, Bryanna and Marisa. I am very excited about it since it is an all inclusive with lots to do for the kids. I will be turning 70 in March and had originally thought about a Vegas trip with friends but the way my luck is at the casinos I decided to do something relaxing. We will just do an overnight stay at one of the local casinos and have dinner together. We will be going to Phil and Cheryl's for Thanksgiving, I have ordered a ready to serve turkey dinner from the Country Club so all we have to do is sit down and eat.

Chris, 46 years with the same man is just amazing, I had always planned on doing that but my first marriage was just a disaster. I hope to make it to 50 years with Babe, but that would mean I have to live to 100 and he 103.

Barbie, your boots sound like something Babe would like, he also has hand warmers for the cold weather. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your friends.

Phoebe, I think a lot of the members are posting on the home page but I do miss them here. Are you going to make it home for Thanksgiving? Just so you know I am very thankful for you .

Marie, hope all is well with you, we miss you not opening each day for us.

Time to get ready and get a move on, have a great day!!

:flowerforyou: Shirley, are you saying that we can drink the calories away? I certainly hope so. I have found that when I do get in all my water my weight will drop or at least stay the same. Good advice.

:flowerforyou: Chris, I believe the most amazing thing about you being married for 46 years is that you still "like" him. Congrats.

Sorry, I am one of those who has drifted away. Just been too busy. I am usually here early in the morning but I have been having to start work sooner this week. My supervisor is out and that leaves a lot more for me to do.

Hey All! I have been on MFP for 5 weeks now and am so glad to find a group my age. I have just turned 63. I need to lose around 90 pounds. I am retired after hurting my back last year. Layed around all winter and summer in pain and in the dumps. I am getting out walking and I am already feeling better. Need encouragement and support. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Chris, pretty impressive! Belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Sorry I'm late, but sounds like you celebrate every day!!!
Dottie, welcome to our wonderful group! We'll help and support in every way we can, and since we are so varied, it'll work!
I'm the eldest! Nudged out Marie, so now she's just a kid!

Spent entire day at DH's cardiologist today. He told internist yesterday his chest feels tight after playing tennis awhile (he IS almost 88! :noway: ) so Doc got an immediate appointment and no test was left undone! I'm more tired than he! He's upset about having to cancel games until he gets results next week! Will update as soon as I know anything.
Hope the turkey I bought frozen is still OK, as I had planned to cook it today for our pre-holiday bird. Love the smell...and taste...of turkey in the oven!

:flowerforyou: I have been watching more TV lately. Our cable system that we got when we couldn't get satellite anymore has Canadian stations and they carry curling and a lot more figure skating than the US networks. I can't work on the computer and watch skating or curling at the same time. I can walk, jog,or dance while watching

 I was in line at the bank today and the man waiting ahead of me asked it I was ready for Thanksgiving. I told him that all I had to make was salad but I was prepared with a long list of things I am thankful for. He said he was thankful for a lot of things too, like the great weather we have. The sky was black, it was raining, and about 45 degrees. And I agreed with him that we have the best weather in the world. I love where I live.:heart:

  Buzz, I love turkey, too. We're not cooking one for this holiday because we've been out for turkey several times and will be having Thanksgiving at someone else's house, but I bought a frozen kosher turkey (they're in the store here only at Thanksgiving) and I'll cook it sometime after the first of the year. I'm thinking healthy thoughts for your DH. Keep us posted.

:flowerforyou: Dottie, welcome to the group. We are a varied and enthusiastic group...It's a bit quiet right now, but usually there is a lot of friendly and encouraging chatter. I stay active by walking my poodles every day. They have a bundle of energy and never seem to tire of walking with me. I've challenged myself to walk them for at least an hour every morning no matter what the weather. I keep adding new cold weather and wet weather clothing to my collection.
