Thank you all so much! I am thrilled to be here!! Love reading about all your activities. I must get off this computer now and get in my sewing closet. I have 2 quilts to get done before Christmas for my grandsons. Later today I am going for a long walk and need to get started on some things I can do a day ahead on my Thanksgiving Supper. Have a great day!!

Happy Wednesday!! Sunny day but chilly although it is supposed to warm up today for Thanksgiving. :flowerforyou: I got my free jacket at the casino but lost money so it wasn't free after all. Wish I was like Chris and could win once in a while but I still enjoy going and was careful and left before I lost too much. I came home to hubby feeling ill with a nauseous tummy so he didn't eat dinner and went to bed very early. He feels better today but still needs rest, it could be from the vicodin or perhaps a 24 hour bug. I booked our trip and I am so looking forward to March, it sounds like heaven.

Dottie, Marie will be thrilled as well as Jackie that you are a quilter, they too make beautiful quilts. Walking is one of the greatest overall exercises and along with recording your calories and drinking lots of water the weight will come off. We all hit plateaus and it takes time for your body to get used to your new life style but it is so worth it. It is second nature to me now and even though I am at goal and lax on losing the extra 4 pounds I want to lose I love this program. Welcome to our group and feel free to share what ever is in your heart, we not only listen to weight problems we are here for each other for what ever is on our minds.

Barbie, I have more excuses than carter's liver pills (anyone remember that saying) and you put me to shame with your dog walking. I keep saying it is too cold when it is in the 40's and you walk no matter what the weather. That is why you lost 70 pounds and I still have those pesky 4 to get rid of. I better get on the stick and get moving so I have my bikini body for our vacation in March. Yikes just kidding I don't wear a bikini, nothing even close.

Buzz, your life sounds as busy as mine and really can't tell you why. I do pray your hubby's tests come back positive so he can get back on the tennis court. 88 years old and still playing tennis is amazing, I love tennis but my knees won't let me play. In fact I think tennis is what did my knees in. :grumble:

Marie, thanks for posting Jeanne's place mats, they did turn out beautiful and I wondered the same as you where the plate will go?
Hope all is well with you and you are getting ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Gayla, I have forgotten when your Thanksgiving is or was, did we miss it? Did we acknowledge it? How is your foot, is it getting better before your trip? When do you leave again?

Phoebe, thanks for sharing the link, thank goodness I do not have a heart condition that I know of, is this something in your family? Did I ever tell you that my son Brad is driving for Fed Ex in Arizona? He is driving the big semi's now so he is happy.
The pay isn't that great yet, but he said it will get better. As long as he is working is all that counts.

Becky, in looking at your diary I am wondering why your base calories are so low when you are so little? Did you set it to 1000 calories a day? I am just wondering because you sure aren't eating a lot these days.

Shirley, have fun on your trip and enjoy those two Thanksgiving celebrations. You and Gayla both are Canadian but for the life of me I can't remember when your Thanksgiving is or was. :explode:

Chris, I agree, liking someone you love is so important, I have a few people in my life who I love but do not like. Your son will really appreciate those shoes for Christmas, you sound like great parents.

Daisy is getting groomed today and I plan on staying home with hubby except for some grocery shopping. I will try to exercise today and I will try to walk Daisy, please push me in the right direction and keep reminding me about my vacation in March.

    Have a great day!

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I have my calorie count at 1000 for in case I forget something. I have a 200 calorie "cushion". It seems to be helping.

:flowerforyou: Barbie, what a great idea...exercise while watching TV. I can do that at the YMCA as they have sets on the machines.

I missed Zumba last night and was going to go with my husband later on when he went. He wasn't in the best mood so I decided to stay home. One of my sons dropped by. We had a wonderful visit.

Hi Dottie and welcome. I recently joined this group and have found all the ladies to be very caring and so supportive. I still haven't had the time to get my cheat sheet done on all the ladies in the group, name, where they live, hobbies, etc, I like to know about the person in order to know who is who...lol.. I will get there ha ha ha

I am so sorry to hear about your back issue and all the pain you went through. I fell off of a semi step when I was 27/28 and I grabbed hold of the side bar and wrenched my back real bad and I had to have back surgery and I do remember the 1 1/2 yrs I went through all of that pain and recovery, all is good now but I have to watch what I do so I don't re-injure the back.

Well ladies, I made the peach cobbler from scratch, have 2 pies and heading to the in-laws for Thanksgiving tonight so I can't log on for a few days. May we all have the courage to walk away from all the temptations that will be ahead of us the next few days...lol..

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, Canadian Thanksgiving was October 10 and we all sent greetings on this thread to our Canadian members. the way I keep focused on my exercise is to treat it like bathing and brushing my teeth----something that I do automatically and don't even consider skipping.

:flowerforyou: Marie, Kosher means slaughtered and prepared according to Jewish law. Because the Kosher turkey I was bought was already frozen, it was simple to put it in the freezer and save it for later.

 Becky, I'm concerned that keeping my calories too low will make it hard to get all the nutrition I need but I like your idea of setting your goal lower in case you go over a bit

 Dottie, I am not a quilter but I admire people who are

 Katherine, if you read the posts every day and join in the discussion, little by little you'll get to know all of us and feel like part of the family. you are a brave person to do all that baking. I gave up baking a couple of years ago because I couldn't bake something and not eat too much of it.

    to the new people
my family is my fabulous hubby, Jake, who posts on this thread sometimes, my Standard Poodles, Brandy and Sasha, and my part Maine Coon cat, Bernie. I walk the poodles for 90 minutes every morning and again in the afternoon. I go to line dance classes three days a week. I write in a gratitude journal every morning and love my life.

walk for at least an hour every day with the frisky poodles no matter how cold, wet, windy, or snowy

Hello everyone, I'm back from my travels and will catch up with you all as soon as I'm settled. Just wanted to wish all my American friends a happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy those turkeys and every other dish of delicious food you partake of. It's only once a year so don't go counting too many calories!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Friends!!!!

My dh and I are really enjoying our mountain getaway. We've been snowed in for a couple of days but are going to venture out to town later on. Next time I need to pack more food.  We had pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for supper and the leftovers for breakfast. As we didn't get out we couldn't go out for supper as I had planned.  Hence.   Pancakes.  Yummy but more calories than I wanted.

However the sun came out and it is beautiful. We had a heavy snowfall warning but nothing much came of it.

Fancy Lady--beautiful pics!! Pancakes were probably NO more calories then eating a big meal.

I ate way to much for comfort and was really aware of the discomfort it caused. Today will be a light calories and good for you food day.

Happy Black Friday Shopping Day!! Not me, I won't go near a store today, in fact hoping to do most of my shopping online so I don't have to go near a store during these Holidays. :noway: Our Thanksgiving was good, we ordered the complete turkey dinner from the country club so all we had to do was put it on the table. I of course ate too much but did do some Wii dancing with my granddaughter. I give up until Monday when I will put myself back in gear after eating all these leftovers. I plan on putting my outside decorations up today since we are supposed to get temps in the 50's. I hope everyone had a great holiday and/or just a great day, do the same today and be grateful for all we have.

Well, way back when it was called a feast, and thats what we usually do! No explanations necessary, lol!.
sandy, you are so right about being thankful. I passed a church sign that read'be thankful everyday'. Such a perfect way to look at our lives, no matter where we live
welcome, Dottie. Yes its a good day for healthy food, unless you have lots of leftovers.
we are having vegetables for dinner tonight.
Jeri, I'm. So glad you are enjoying your trip, it looks wonderful. Thanks for the beautiful photos!

I saw a commercial for some kind of mixer, they used beets in a recipe for red velvet cake. Id like that, coz I dont like too much red food coloring. Not that Ill be baking a red velvet cake. Its a good idea to make healthy substitutions when possible.

    See ya later

Marie -- thanks for your kind words. The scenery was so breathtaking when it was bright and clear. I got up fairly early and put on my boots to go out and take those pictures. I wanted to catch the morning light.

Thank you DOTTIE. You are right about the pancakes.  They probably weren't anymore than a big turkey dinner. LOL

Sandy, it sounds like you have the right idea. Ordering your dinner in definitely sounds appealing. What did you have?

Phoebe   Thank you.   We did have a great trip. You have the right idea about food. It is all about balance.

Well we are home. We were tempted to stop at the casino on the way home but decided against it. Wednesday we went for 2 hrs and I won $20. I decided if we stopped on the way home, I'd probably leave my winnings there and then some.  It was probably a good decision but not nearly as fun as stopping for a bit.

Here's one last photo. Yesterday we went for an 1  1/2 walk in the snowy woods. I know I definitely burned off calories going up and down the hills on the trail.
