Welcome to Bring it!! Osmium and Molson!! Woot Woot!! ...
Neeter its just your tummy getting better ab muscles than me..dont fret and fight the scale sabotage bunnies ...Bring it Harder and Fight back!!!..watch that sodium too if your not already....do u measure your waist I didnt used to and well rofl I realized I had lost over 7 inches in my waist alone in January....
Ok so Im pumped and revved up like a kid coming out of Willy Wonka Factory.....Cardioooooooooooooo!
and yes I act like this daily at home as well..quite annoying Im sure to the lazy bums around here in my house BUT if you think about it I have lived the dull drab life for so long its MY time to shine....Lets Bring it today people harder than yesterday!!! Your welcome to paste my picture on your treadmill and cuss me out while you sweat *ha-ha* I wont tell u what I say to Jillian Michaels after she makes me do "fast feet" .....have a great day Bring it Buddies and I will be back in 2-3hrs!!! To let you know I survived my workout and it was ALL worth it..Im even going to miss my soap operas today "No excuses" Woot Woot:drinker:
**wanders off singing "if you like pina colada....and getting caught in the raiiiiiin....oops thats for Sassie"
Thanks for the suggestions myasteme. I will have to take my measurements, I haven't been paying attention to them.
I had thought about the sodium. My friend thinks the reason we both gained weight is the chipolte seasoning in the fish recipe we made on Saturday night from Making the Cut. I really don't think *seasoning* could account for 5 pounds!! But I am really watching the sodium... not that I thought I ate much of it to begin with. The only sodium I think I eat is my turkey lunchmeat which is about 5 - 7 slice a day. I hope that's not too much because it's one of my staples!!
And I am going to add more cardio to the strength training we've been doing. I used to *only* run and now I pretty much only do strength training. I try to run for 10 - 15 minutes after each session, and I run on the days off, but that's only about 2 days a week. So, even though I don't have much time I am going to try to fit in more running. Perhaps I have gained muscle and that will help balance it out.
I'm glad you're pumped up!! Have fun bringing it today!0 -
Hello everyone. I'm bummed today. I've been steadily "bringing it" but this morning I weighed myself (try to do a weekly weigh-in) and I have *gained* weight. I'm frustrated because for the first time ever I feel so good and healthy and positive about my looks, my health, everything... I just figured my weight would fall into place. But somehow I've gained almost 5 pounds and it makes no sense!! I've been sticking to 1200 net calories per day, although once in a while I go over calories one day and so will stay under calories the next day or two to catch back up. I have been eating mainly whole, healthy foods. I have been working out every single day, doing Jillian Michaels' Making the Cut workout plan, I'm on day 24 of 30.
I am trying really hard not to be discouraged because I *do* love the way I feel... I just thought it would result in weight loss, not weight gain. I could have been eating burgers and fries and had the same results! :noway: But the funny thing is, I don't even want to... I'm glad I've been eating healthy. But I just figured it would have some pay-off on the scale too.
I know your pain...HA
I have quit using the scale and rely only on how I FEEL and how I look. Vain? I don't know maybe but with clean eating and burning up the workouts, any kind of workouts, good things are happening. Weight fluctuations could very well be one of the major triggers to slacking off or worse, quitting your regimen. You certainly don't seem ready for something so drastic as slacking or quitting but I would suggest skipping the scale for awhile. It is only a number after all. How we feel and really getting in touch with our bodies seems more important than what we weigh.
burn a few hundred cals and you will no longer be "bummed"
Dave
Neeterskeeter,
I feel your pain. I've been bringing it with nutrition, burning 600 cals a day with workouts, and the scale tells me up 1 pound this morning.
However, I don't think I took in enough water yesterday.
But we all know the way you feel. I can say this though, and I'm sure you agree. When you know you're doing it, and doing it right, you can see and feel a difference in how lean you feel, how radiant your skin looks, and how lively you feel in general. No one can take that away from you!
Even if you eat like crap for a few days, the scale usually doesn't show a huge change. But you sure can see it. Bloated tummy, dull skin, overall tired feeling? We've all been there. Once you think about where you've been, and where you never want to be again, it'll push you to move forward.
I agree with myastyme. Watch the sodium and you'll probably see a huge change right away. I actually made the switch to Mrs. Dash seasonings because they're soo tasty, have lots of variety, and best of all, salt-free. I wouldn't worry too much about the lunch meat because it provides good lean protein. Even when you buy chicken breasts, you'll notice that they do have some sodium from the brine and preservatives. But what can you do...
Bring IT everyone!
See you later tonight.0 -
True... I feel great and that's what I'm going to focus on. All I can do is aim towards goals like reducing sodium, drinking more water and adding in more cardio to my work outs.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I feel much better.0 -
The scale can by quite the trickster! I try to weigh myself once a week, but I mainly track my progress on how well I'm keeping up with my super fit bf and my super energetic puppy when we go hiking. Prior to joining MFP, they used to run me ragged...I'm actually holding my own these day!0
-
Ok Im back from my 2hrs of WATP,HipHop Total Body and Cardio Kickbox..Im alive and well and YES it was worth it!!
Now I tried the Kempo because Im nosey and a dork ...so when I went down for that intial warm up split..my body sounded like a box of cracker jacks being shaken so I think I will try that again next week ..lol..I admire you guys that are doing the p90x it really gives me something to look forward to....I hope everyone Brings IT today!!!:drinker:0 -
So i posted my goals earlier so i figured i should post my status as well.
Age:19
Height: 5' 7
Weight:229
Size:18-20
Now you know pretty much everything I try to hide lol0 -
neeter - it sounds like you are doing all of the right things and you feel great. So keep on going. 5 lbs is a big fluctuation, but perhaps it's that time of the month?
myastyme- impressive workout! You are Bringing it!
P90X - I've never heard of this before, it sounds interesting but probably a bit beyond me at this stage. I'm in NZ and lots of the stuff talked about on MFP I can't even get here. For example, Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I'd love to try that, but not available :-( I'm bringing it in other ways though!
I weigh myself every single day. I know many people don't recommend this, but it keeps me focussed and accountable. I know the scale will go up and down and I record every days weight and compare it with the previous weeks and it's been a useful tool for me in seeing what my body does. I don't get discouraged if the scale goes up as I know that happens, but I make sure my general trend is downwards. At the moment it is, so I'm happy. In the past I've buried my head in the sand about my weight by avoiding weighing, telling myself that I'll weigh next week after I've exercised more. Then life intervenes and I forget, then next time I realise it's a month later and I'm still unaccountable to myself. So for me weighing daily is keeping my focussed on project me!
I completed Couch 2 5K Week 3 Day 2 today. I felt pretty good and I am feeling so motivated to get to the end of this program. I am also proud of myself as I have not made any excuses. It was raining again - I still went. I have a hamstring strain - I still went, but ran slow to avoid making it worse (physio tomorrow to see what I need to do to repair it). Both of these things in the past would have given me an excellent "out" excuse. No more!
I'm on week six of project me and still going strong.0 -
Hello everyone! I got in my 4 mile speedwork run (4 x 800 @ 7:30 pace). I had to push it through that last 800... whew! Felt great when I was done though!
Will do Ab Ripper X and my daily pushups w/ my hubbies later tonight! :bigsmile:0 -
Thanks Osmium, I *wish* it were my time of month... not really!!!!... but that would explain the 5lb. I guess I fluctuate a lot so perhaps a week ago when I weighed myself I was really down and now I am really up. But *usually* I fluctuate based on what I eat... I've weighed myself every day before too and it's usually pretty predictable that if I've stayed within my calorie limit I've lost a couple ounces, and if I didn't, I've gained more than that, usually a pound or so. If I don't eat much I see a big weight drop and then it comes back up after I've eaten normally etc. So that's why I'm stumped... this time I've been eating *well* and there was a jump.
wow jessmomof3 that is some great speedwork!!! Inspiring.0 -
Alright, I am checking in with yall today...........................I know late for some, but it is still only 2:45 here so Myastyme came and slapped me in a dream and told me to get my lazy *kitten* up and do some CARDIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........brat she is......so I did, almost quit and then told myself to stop being a whiney baby, if you can't hang with the big dogs get off the porch, go big or go home, floaties in the baby pool only.....

Our family puppy can run and run and run too! I like to take her running though, as long as she doesn't make too many stops along the way to mark her territory.0 -

Nice description Mya!
Kenpo Karate...probably my favorite workout besides Legs and Back X. You can do it! You may not be able to do all the reps, or kick as high or punch as hard, but gradually it gets easier. I myself am no queen of coordination but that is the beauty of working out at home. My dog can only laugh on the inside .
Isn't it crazy how fitness motivates you to get even MORE fit? Who would have thought a few years ago that I would be considering a pull-up bar as my next reward for hitting my goal:bigsmile: . I surprise myself!0 -

Hey Heater,
Nothing to hide here! Putting it out there makes you confront it and makes it REAL. You can kiss those old stats goodbye if you stick with us. You might even want to take some good bye pictures of your old self. :happy:0 -

Project Me! I like the title. I think we are all on our own projects but giving it a name sure does make it more concrete.
I too, weigh myself every morning, even though some disagree with that. It keeps you accountable, and then you're in for no big surprises when the week ends. I agree, as long as the weekly trend is down, nothing wrong with weighing in everyday.
I'm not sure about P90X in NZ, but there has got to be a way. Jess? Are you out there? Do you know anything about this?
I'm going to have to look into the Couch 2 5K program. Sounds like something fun!

Sassie,
Good sneakers are worth it. We don't want injuries!
Go BIG or go HOME is my phrase too!
I also have to mention that I saw your post over on another thread, and it was a touching glimpse into your past. I'm glad to see you've reached out and found the tools and support you need to be successful. You are living proof that people can overcome negative pasts where they've been told they'd never amount to nothing. Way to Bring IT everyday with us and prove that SassieBritches HAS ARRIVED.:bigsmile:0 -

Thanks, girl! I felt pretty speedy today. I'm really wanting to do well for my half marathon and speedwork is super important to getting faster! Oh yeah... Ab Ripper X... I hate it, but I love it. My hubby and kiddos join in, it's a riot! My 10yo is amazing though, she's so strong! She can get through it all now, but it was hilarious the first time she did it. She was being a typical 10yo... oh this is easy... I can do all if it... well the next morning at breakfast she was complaining that it hurt to cough or laugh... Speaking of... time for ARX now!0 -
Does anyone here have an idea for a good running shoe? Light and comfortable? Also I have a really wide foot.
I want to go this weekend and try some, but wondered if yall had some idears?

I love my Asics GT-2140's (I started in the 2110's). They have a wider toe box which helps prevent black toenails (only for us runners that run long distances!). They are comfy. I would go to a good running store and try on a LOT of shoes to see what fits your foot!!0 -
Wow you all have been busy on here today! Dave I think I will give up the scale too. I am working out 3 days now of strength and I am back up the pound I was down Sunday morning. It is probably fluid but it is still discouraging so I might start waiting 2 weeks. I am only supposed to weigh on Sunday mornings when I go to the gym after church, but I cannot stay away from that scale. I am pooped tonight. Did an all over workout-strength training and tried a new machine and thought I would fall down after doing it. It was a squat machine and my legs were so wobbly after I got out of it after only 2 sets of 10 reps on 100 pounds. Think I will have to build up in that one. I am wiped out tonight though. Part of the problem is I just have not been hungry. I was down 800 cals(reg cals) yesterday and still have over 700 tonight and some of that is reg cals. I am going to try to get the reg cals in and see about some exercise cals. I noticed if I don't eat enough on my strenuous workout days I get so tired the next day I don't even feel like crawling out of bed. Ugh! I need a new pair of shoes too. Mine are rubbing the side of my foot just below my little toe and it is painful to walk in them now. So guess I will go tennis shoe shopping this week. I wear men's tennis shoes because I need the width Dave or any of you guys recommend a good stability shoe. I have to stand a good part of the day and I don't do any running just walking so any suggestions?? Thanks!:flowerforyou: :drinker:0

WTG on the Squat Machine Amy...Squats are a killer from start to finish but definately a neccesity to get those sexy legs lol.... Good Job!!:bigsmile:0

Hello all, glad to see all of the positive energy in here!
Today was great, I got up and got on my elliptical in the morning before my regular day and I don't really like mornings. Just finished Yoga X not long ago. I love how stretched out, strong, and relaxed I feel after it.
Food today was good, mostly clean but all bread is processed and I ate some multigrain bread at breakfast. I had a recipe somewhere on how to make my own bread with wheat berries and not much else I should dig up.
I have always heard that New Balance makes the best shoes, my chiropractor and chiropodist both recommended them as well.0 -
