THE Team - Week 4

Hi gang. Another long day at work. Home at last, love reading your posts, and I hope someone is crusing around the site tonight, though after all, its Friday - so why would you be. I think I missed an earlier thread, so, what is wogging? I am thinking it might be walking/jogging? It will be a while before I join you all, though I am there in spirit, even though the wogger lady sort of scares me. Remember, IBTC. Of course, not you, Adopt4. You are clearly a benevelent wogger lady. Something like Glenda the good witch.
Congrats to all of you who lst weight. I haven't weighed in yet. I kind of want to wait until Monday, because that will be a full week. But, I also want to see what the scale says. Tonight, it is too late. (The scale is in a shed on the back 40, which is farm for not in the house.) I have had a pretty great week thanks in large part to you all. I am realizing how much this is therapy to me. I have never been a real big believer in 12 step programs, but I am clearly doing my 90 meetings in 90 days. I just don't leave the house. Thanks all of you for being there.
stillkristi, your post are welcome news, keep posting daily. When we we started "THE Team", accountability was one of the reasons for getting together. For me this meant, checking in everyday, being uplifiting, positive, posting a message daily, exchanging ideas, and sometimes venting frustration. The main idea was to be together as a team and help team members, as we move to success (which in everyones case is inevitable). I base this on clearly scientific reasons, everyone with a thousand posts or more had lost significant weight at mpf. That said, I continue to read everyday and try to contribute .
Bottom line, being part of "THE Team", is part of my diet plan........I believe the Team is the coolest bunch around, and I'm really happy I get to reach this goal with you fine people ....have a great day Zano
We ARE all cool, aren't we? I agree with Zano, accountability is the key reason for this group (ok, aside from the coolness factor). It actually helped me "rein it in" this week when I was headed for a week of feeding frenzy. Stillkristi, check in as often as you can/are able/need to. And yes, wogging is walk/jogging.
Ok, gotta go get dressed for the gym. If I show up in PJs I don't think it will be very motivating. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!0 -
You can get free videos free here.

I am suppose to be running and am still in pain from P90X two days ago. It may become a very long walk day or a bike day. We'll see after my daughters wisdom teeth extraction.
Wish me courage:sad:0 -
Morning! Haha getfit, we sure are cool
Uhh soo not looking forward to today, because I did not get enough sleep, and have to goto a city an hour away for a biology lab for like 5 hours:grumble: blah well talk to you guys later, have a good, and better day then mine!0 -
Good Morning Everyone and Happy Weekend..
Hope everyone is doing good..
Baby Kole is doing great. They are turning down the ECMO machine which means his lungs are starting to function on their own.. The Dr's are saying he is just about strong enough for his surgery. He is a week and a few days old. He opened his eyes and got to meet his mom and dad for the first time. My niece told me that he looked directly into her eyes and she felt like he was saying Hi mom I am not giving up this fight. He is so strong.. He is our miracle baby..
I can't tell u all how much I am enjoying this site and this group of people. I feel so supported here.. Love ya all... My neighbor even noticed that I've lost weight.. LOL.. He said he can tell in my neck and my behind.. I'm thinking my neck lol. What ever... I guess all that walking is doing my neck some good..
Prayerfulmom, thanks for the link to fitnesstv, I have that pulled up now.. I need to change my workout, I am getting a little board..
Morning Chantybear... Good luck with that 5 hr lab.. I hated school...
Getfit, I have actually been to the gym in my jammies, but I just went to tan... Ha ha ...
Zano, Hi.. Have a great weekend...
Stillkristi... I love reading your late night posts.. Where do you live???
Well I must run.. My almost 5 yr old grandson is coming to hang with us, well grandpa, I'm not cool enough I guess... No, kidding, he just loves grandpa for some reason...
Talk to ya all later...
Anita:happy:0 -
Wait, quick question.. Do we have any challenges this week????0

I read posts every night now. The team makes me laugh. It's nice to have this because people can check in whenever they can. I push myself because I know Friday weigh in is coming. I also know this team has lots of good ideas and encouragement when we need it. We ARE great. The wogging challenge (1.5miles in 15 minutes) is a tough one but I do it every day knowing that in a month my time will improve.
Thanks to everyone's comments about sore backs and chiropractors. It seems to be much better since I started stretching and yes I have poor posture all day but the exercise will help to correct that I hope! :blushing:0 -
prayerfulmom,
in-laws AND teens..........and you didn't gain??
I wanted to thank you for giving me a "pace" yesterday. I was up to 3.8 for 35 minutes on the treadmill at the gym. Had to cancel membership, though. So I'm developing a new routine. It's a process...
Thanks for all your great posts!
More later, ya'll:flowerforyou:
If you have an ipod you should upload this crappy techo music that amps your speed up:laugh:
http://www.djsteveboy.com/mixes.html
there is also a great program called Couch to 5 k that has music and ques you when to walk or run (I used that program before but not with music...just watched the watch).
Wog on.
prayerfulmom,
Thanks! I found a runner's thread that has some other podcasts, too.
Do those podcasts work on other media players, do you know? I have a ZEN, maybe I'll try it and see. I can use iTunes to download, so it should work. :huh:Ok, gotta go get dressed for the gym. If I show up in PJs I don't think it will be very motivating. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
Get_fit,
  :glasses: I'd love to see you (or anyone!) show up at the gym in jammies for their spin class! Better roll up those long ones though. I've yanked myself off a bike with jeans-caught-in-chain. But then, I'm such a clutz.

Hi everyone, so nice to hear from you! cmr, I have apparently jinxed the quote machine. :blushing: Sorry.
Nita, WONDERFUL news about Kole! :drinker:  :drinker:  I am so happy for you and your family. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today it is beautiful, crisp, cold and clear! Often during the winter, we don't get much clear, we have terrible air quality due to an inversion that hangs around all winter long. And congrats on the skinny neck! That's pretty funny, except it makes me wonder about your neighbor.....?
Zano, thanks! How nice of you!
Chanty, hope your day is going better than you thought it would!
healthy mom - size 16 COOL!!! :drinker:

Dear American clothing companies,

While we're at it, let's tackle bathing suits. Why why why on God's green earth must you be such a buzz kill. I go from literally doing a happy dance in the fitting room in my size 8's that FIT to nearly in tears b/c your bathing suit sizes SUCK. Let's face it...YOU suck. You are designed to make women cry. Hey everyone!
Sorry Ive been missing in action for a few days. I am in the process of getting my own business up and running and have been working hard on a website and doing some research.
Ive been diligent with my eating and working hard on the cardio at the gym. Sticking to my 30 minutes treadmill & Wogging, 30 minutes elliptical time. Burning a min of 500 cals each workout. Havent hit the weights this week cuz the cardio is doing a great job for me. Will be hitting them a little this next week.
I had the trainers measure me at the gym today. I think...err..I know that I have lost around my waist cuz things are getting looser in terms of clothes but my measurements before were way off cuz I did them myself before. There was no change but I have a sports bra that fit me tight when I started 2 months ago. Its now so baggy and loose that I can slide my hand under the front without sucking in.. Ive had it for a couple years and its all stretched out now so It gotta go into my "old clothes" pile (the one Im keeping for comparison later. Pretty exciting to see the change in how my clothes are fitting. Especially some of my tank tops that were getting to small for me last summer.
The great news is, Im showing a 4 pound loss from last week. Now that Aunt flo is gone Im actually seeing the results from last week and this week. What a great motivator! Im down to 224 which was my goal for March 6th... still a week to go for this month!! WHOOHOO!!
Anywho... adopt4 is gonna be here shortly so we can go hit goodwill and find some cheap workout clothes. Most of mine are getting baggy now!0 -
great job l4g!0
-
Stillkristi-
How did the clothes fit? I AM whining about pushups! I did the fitness test on the wii myfitnesscoach on Wednesday. I could do only 4, and then it created my workout... It had me do like 8 sets of 4. It gave me rest periods in between, but so what!!! My arms and whole body hurt still today! I guess that tells me that the treadmill must be burning the calories so I can eat, but the strength isn't coming the way it probably should be!
I always take an almond butter toasted sandwich with low calorie preserves on it. I have one for breakfast and one for lunch. It's becoming a mindless tradition, and I try to eat it very slowly. I have recently realized that my thin years were spend in routines with food - I ate the same things over and over, and did not focus much on food then. I'm not a good decision maker in the mornings either, so this way I always have something to eat at lunch so I'm not starving at 3:30. (Almond butter is instead of peanut butter because we can't have peanuts at school anymore. There are too many allergies now. I also keep an extra jar of almond butter in my filing cabinet with some saltines just in case I leave my sandwich on the counter at home!)
I'm also taking lessons from my skinny little daughter eat also... she can take a 100 calorie pack of cakesters, (three quarter sized cakes) make them last for 30 minutes, and leave one in the pack!

So glad you asked about the clothes! I tried on a couple of blouses that had been sort of gapey. Not a word, I know. Anyway, no gapes and I could button all the buttons. Next, I tried on pants. I am comfortably in a couple of pair of pants that I have never been able to wear because they were sooooooo tight! And, I tried on a pair that last time I wore them, the button literally shot across the room when I stood up after dinner. :blushing: I believe I blinded their cat in one eye.....:blushing: Anyway, things are heading in the right direction. AND, I too am really sore from the very modest exercising I have been able to do so far. But, I am not going to quit. Thanks friends!!!0

Thanks CMR. Those were great! I can be wearing 3 different sizes depending on how they are made. Guess I will listen to Stacey and Clinton (What not to wear) and wear what looks good not what size I think I am. I love their show for teaching people to work with the size they are to look great. I have 2 pair of jeans that are too big now. But I found 4 smaller ones that fit. Awesome. The rest of my small stuff is for summer so the weather better warm up fast in Saskatchewan! :glasses:
stillkristi : Hurray for clothes that fit your new smaller size!!! :drinker: :drinker:
LosingIt4Good- 4 lbs! :noway: good job! Good to hear you are in the same boat. Such a problem to have clothes that are too baggy. :bigsmile:0 -
Li4g - geez, I gotta go to photobucket for you, girl -
....and kristi, healthymom, and Li4g:
I it when clothes show you how hard you are working! Sometimes it is the first tangible proof. I know I never believe the scale - regardless if it is good or bad news. But I believe my clothes.
exerciseisfree: pushups are haaarrrdddd is my mantra this week........
I guess any exercise is good for you...... It is a process. AND there are wall push-ups to start, then push-ups on your knees with your hands on the couch, then "girlie-style" - when floor ones are too hard. I started on the "bench" or couch style ones. And I've been stuck on "Day2" of the 100-Pushups Challenge "girlie-style" for four days.....:grumble: I do what I can and move on when I can. I WILL get to 100-Pushups - or die trying -

HAHA! Thanks CM... cute little dudes ya got there!
I found 1 pair of New pink & white Nike workout pants at the salvation army for $2 and a Coffee mate Iced Tea maker for $5 so I can keep green tea ready to drink.....god i love good bargains! Also found a t-shirt, a "truth about bad fats" book and a wind jacket at value village for $15. The jacket I had to get out of the mens section. They had nothing that was cute in the girl section that fit me. I have really long arms and broad shoulders so it was like trying to squeeze into one of my daughters jackets when I tried on an XL over there. HA! I cant wait to find a girlie jacket I can wear to the gym. Im tired of dressin like a guy! :grumble:
I'll have to do some wall pushups this week and see if that works for me! Will definitely give it a shot since its something I can do at home in addition to my sit-ups. The wogging is coming along great. I shaved a whole minute off this week and can get my 1.5 miles done in 21:13 minutes. Im walking faster, jogging slower and that seems to help me with losing my steam so early.
I have 1 big goal to reach this week. To DRINK MY WATER.
I have been such a slacker!! Ive had more bad days than good days with getting it in. Anywho..thats the goal I am reaching for...to drink ALL of my water...everyday!!
I rented the movie "supersize me" which is a documentary by Morgan Spurlock on the effects of fast food on health. WOW! How distrubing! If any of you are struggling with bypassing fast food...watch that movie!!! I can guarantee it will change your perspective! It definitely did mine even tho I have been staying away from it.0 -
Li4G, I am imagining you and adopt4 terrorizing thrift stores. You guys are great! Its nice you live close to each other.:bigsmile:0
-
Love love love Goodwill and Value Village. I live in a very "rich" area.......well until recently. Rich people throw out good stuff! I buy all my work-out clothes on 70%-off sales or at thrift stores.
Will someone give me or mail me the formula for figuring MPH on my wogging, please? I keep getting numbers like 5.9 or .0012 - both of which are hurting my head. I just try to go faster. No pace...:ohwell:
Today I had a great wog. I finally got brave enough to not be a Girl Scout and I didn't take a backpack with water and money and stuff. Makes it much more comfy. 55:40 / 3.8 miles....????? I know it's not fast.:frown:
Fractals.....ok.
MPH. Not so much.
Wall push-ups kick booty! I was doing them for quite some time when I was 200+ lbs. You start out close to the wall, then move your feet back as you get stronger.0 -
Anita-that is so cool about the comments from the neighbor. Sorry your grandson doesn’t realize just how cool you are=)
Healthymom- I’m with you. Lots of great ideas and encouragement here. Congratulations on wogging attack. I can’t wait to hear your improvement. No good deed goes unpunished. A beautiful day yesterday, a two mile hike to the Puget Sound, and some great calories burned!
I am grateful today that:
1. I survived my fall into the Sound's 50 degrees water, and the 2 mile walk back to the car
2. I was able to jury-rig a couple shopping bags (thank God I'm "green") and an emergency poncho into a "skirt" to wear back to the car - even though it was 40 degrees out - it was better than my soaked jeans & undies. Plastic Subway bags for socks.
3. I can afford to buy a new camera, which also took a swim:frown:
(the av pic is JUST BEFORE I took my un-planned dip:noway: )
What is cool is your attitude and resourcefulness!
…and why would you have jeans on in a spin class? Maybe it’s a real world experience.
Good luck with the down loads. I have used djsteveboy and downloaded it before to media player and then uploaded to my off name mp3 and it worked. They really help me keep my pace up.
Losingit4good- -4 holy smokes. I am way impressed. I love the clothes victory. You know in CA our second had stores are more expensive than what I can find at the clearance section of walmart or target. I was going to Nicaragua in Dec and needed capris. Seriously new one’s were cheaper.I'm also taking lessons from my skinny little daughter eat also... she can take a 100 calorie pack of cakesters, (three quarter sized cakes) make them last for 30 minutes, and leave one in the pack!
Brenda- I’m impressed with her skills. Dang. Sounds like you are doing a great job at being prepared. I really think that is the biggest part of the battle.
Stillkristi- You are doing a great job. You continue to make good choices. Every good decision and helping you to achieve your goal. I want to give you a big hug and tell you that in exercise you need to start slow and build up. This is a personal journey and your doing a great job!
Ok, I'm obviously stalling. My daughter is down with her wisdomteeth today so mom is staying home from church to pamper her. During her sleep time I am planning on a long bike ride on the trainer (hoping to get in 30 miles today). Also P90X Chest/back/abs. Ok, I'm shoving off. Have a blessed day all.0 -
Good Morning everyone.. It is once again windy here.. Waste of time cleaning, dust will soon fill up my window sills..
I so enjoyed spending the day with my grandson.. He is just a cute kid.. And to top that off I got to spend a few mins with all of them. Kisses and hugs from my granddaughter Cali and kisses and hugs from my other grandson Austin..
So last night I ate tacos, 2 chicken tacos from the mexican rest. I had them fried :frown: but I had them without the cheese.. I did have some quacamoli since they make it without mayo.. and 8 chips with salsa.. I didn't feel like I over ate and I drank a lot of water with lemon with my meal.. We ate early too.. But this morning I was up early and got in 45 mins of cardio... I will not weigh myself for a few days.. Actually I might try to wait till Friday morning....
Well I am off to do laundry. And maybe I will window shop for some exercise clothes..
Have a good day....

It sounds like you did fine at the restaurant, and guacamole is waaaay better for you than mayo, even if it does have high calories. Sounds like you had a great day. :flowerforyou:0 -
How is everyone today? Thanks for the advice on the exercise, I got all excited yesterday and started moving furniture around the house. I was cleaning and thinking, "Wow, I am getting so much done. This would normally take me all week doing it a litle at a time!" So, today I am SORE
Note to self: Its not a race, its life. I am not speeding to get to a destination, I am making changes that will make the journey much more satisfying. Thanks for your help everyone!0 -
Hi all! I have been busy studying etc, but I am still working hard. I'm down to 148.8 so I'm doing my best to continue to eat well and workout so I can stay below 150!
I am going on my cruise next week!!!! 7 days in paradise, can't wait!!! I am going to do yoga or some 30 min workout everyday on the cruise :-) Hopefully that will balance the food I eat!
My goal this week is to do a workout video + some type of strength training every day this week!
Oh and keep writing in my journal & drinking my 75 0z oh H20!0 -
I wanna go on a cruise instead I will just have to work. I really feel like I need to get away... I did go to Texas for 3 weeks but it was just El Paso, my husband was working there.. YUCK...
But on a good note, I purchased a HRM on amazon.. I should have it on Wed. I didn't buy an expensive one just a starter one.. Its a HRM for beginners lol.. I just want to see how I really am doing on that treadmill....0 -
Nita, seems like you need a break. You know what I do when I feel like a vacation and there isn't one coming for a while? I go for a drive with my favorite music playing and if the weather permits, the sun roof open. (I'm not yet in good enough shape to go for a hike, but soon!) :bigsmile:0

CMR: I'm going to try the sit ups! Let you know how it goes.0 -
Yeah, the story about falling in the Sound....that was me:embarassed:
Thankfully I am a big fan of "Man vs Wild" on Discovery, so I knew enough to get out of the cold wet clothes - and I tried hanging them to dry, but it was two hours until sunset...luckily for some reason I brought an extra sweatshirt (though I am loathe to bring anything unecessary).
I couldn't completely cover-up modestly, so I waited until dark to walk back to my car. My fingers wouldn't work, I was freezing.....
And yes, I yanked myself off a real bicycle with jeans-in-the-chain when I was a kid. I don't ride anythng resembling a bike anymore. No spin class.0 -
Hi all, nice to hear that you've been missing me - CM. I needed to hear that. I've had a hard couple of weeks and on top of that my grandfather died last week, so I've been trying to help my grandmother out.
My goal was 245 on sat, which was my 32 th birthday, but the scale said (still) 248. 3 lbs to much. But I'm ok with that, now I'm getting back in the game. Next goal is 227 by april 17th.
I'll check in every friday with my weight.
This week my challenge to me is to eat right, which means no cheating - and getting in 3 workouts.
Gooo wanning !:bigsmile:0 -
Hi,
Just wanted to get back in the groove, I haven't posted for a couple weeks. I have been able to lose weight -- just lost track of days. I have been using my HRM My hubby got for Valentine's day. It has been such a motivator for me. I try to burn at least 400 calories a day so I can have more calories to eat. One day I went hiking and got lost on the trail and ended up burning 906 calories before I found my way out. So my focus right now is tracking calories burned and continueing to write down all my calories.0
