I'm trying to get some bookkeeping done (not my favorite task), then I'll get to go do what I'd rather be doing! I have some intervals planned for the rowing machine. Training for a sprint event in mid-March. My goal is to make a good showing of it so I can benchmark myself against competitive masters female rowers. I'd love to join a team in a couple of years.4

However, I am going on a weekend girls getaway and anticipate a little weight set back, but I am okay woth that and won't let it totally derail me. The best I can hope to do is make better choices than I would have before and get alot of steps in!
Glad your motivated!! Keep up the hard work! And enjoy your girls weekend! You deserve it!3 -
Not sure why I waited until 45 to start getting in shape, but so far so good. 46 now and down 45 lbs. Still another 5ish or so left to show good definition, but I am totally in the best shape of my entire life! I'm actually back racing motocross with kids old enough to be my kids. Fells good to smoke their young *kitten* and have the say way to go pops or good job gramps. Makes me smile a bit on the inside.

Congrats on the loss! And I agree, there's no better feeling in the world than giving the youngsters a run for their money. It really freaks them out.2 -
Yes it does!!!1

Morning Kids...Happy Hump Day. It was brutal trying to lift with this nagging cough. Sdereski, beautiful pictures. Staffordshire62, very inspirational story. Keep up the fine work. Beeps, lifting heavy things is ohhhhhh so satisfying to my soul. Have a great day kids.2

I have been doing this weight loss since mid December. I started at 283. My goal....is to hit 200 and see where this takes me from here on. Right now, I am somewhere between 238 and 242. It is somewhat hard to tell as I seem to fluctuate up to 6 pounds depending on time of day. I am guessing it is water..but wow.
My thing has been weight training. I keep thinking that I will do more Yoga and try running but I seem to prefer the weight training.
Great job! I love my weight training workouts, as well. However, since I have been mixing in yoga and cardio, as well as a much healthier diet, I have found that I am making much better progress on my weight training days, am much less injury prone, and feel like I'm in much better overall shape as a result.
Also, My fasting and blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids and resting heart rate have dropped from unhealthy ranges to very healthy normal ranges.
Keep up the good work and remember, in the words of T. Horton, when things get tough to just "do your best and forget the rest!"1 -
I haven't been on this thread in a very long time, but nice to see that it's still going. I'm 48, and have been on MFP for a little over a year. Nice to see so many active people in my age group.5

Got my run in! 8.5 km. It was drizzling a bit, but a mild 5C. Very nice for this time of year.4

With my weight loss I'm having some blood pressure issues. I'm still a big guy with lots to lose. But my bp is low and bending over and raising up quickly can make the whole world spin.0

Got home from church last night ready for bed. But I put on the headphones listening to the local university basketball game and did 3.5 miles at a 3 mile per hour pace with the dog.4

C210K week 8, day 2 completed. It is windy here today so I was running into a headwind of around 40-50kph in some parts....tired now
Yesterday was a rest day so I really wanted to get out today...at least it was dry.
This weekend I will be teaching navigation strategies and techniques so it will be at a slower pace during the day but hoping to have a little blast n the evenings.
Weight loss is going well, I am now trying to focus on fuelling myself well in order that I can push on and not get too tired (it has started to creep in now on these single runs with no walking rests).3 -

Nice work fighting through the windy conditions during your run!
What is the week 8 C210K mileage and how long are you running during your long run each week? Assuming you are running less than about 75 minutes, you can probably address your fueling needs before hand by consuming some easy to digest carbs. If the run time is longer, then lots of options are available for fueling, whether liquid, gels or solids.
Do you have a race coming up?

When I turned 40(6 years ago) I had my 4th child. When he was 6 months old, I saw a picture that someone took of me holding him and I was shocked at how much weight I had put on and didn't know it. I was 260 pounds!
It's not so bad as I am 6'4", but needless to say, I got my but in gear. I got down to 225 in about a year. Fast forward to now and I am at almost the same weight again(255)
, not because I got fat again, but because I am lifting 3-5 days a week. I am starting to see that my age is working against me more in regards to my "beer belly" and decided to try tracking my food consumption out and wow, was I shocked. More power to all you 40+er's out there trying to do the right thing. Keep up the good work and keep kicking butt!8 -

Thanks @Djproulx.
Week 8 of the programme is a run of 28 mins (although I did an extra few minutes). With my extra minutes in it would have been 5km. (running for over 75 mins non-stop is still a very long way-away for me).
No races planned...I am a mountain leader and my season really kicks off at Easter...so I am trying to get ahead with my CV fitness before things get crazy busy. Whilst I can easily hillwalk 20-25km in a day and not feel particularly tired...running has opened my eyes to a different type of fitness which I am finding a (good) challenge.1 -
Beautiful day in New England today. 60F and sunny! Took my planned 3m run outside. In a tank top, even.5

Not cool but I'm old!

My run took me right through the wafting smoke from the outdoor smoker at the local rib place. An hour and a half-rack later, I have no regrets.

With your base of walking fitness, I'm guessing that you've progressed quickly. Sounds like you've already done a 5k at roughly a 10 min/mile pace. That is a solid effort. Nothing like running a few hills to increase fitness!
Good luck with your running.1 -
I am 41 years old and would like to join this group as well. I have lost 54 lbs. so far; however, my goal is to get under 200 pounds. I've been using myfitnesspal since November (I think). Loving the accountability. Looking forward to losing pounds and gaining 'friends' that's on the same path.4

Lifted today.
