You said hummus! Jeannie will be popping in here soon. It is like her siren call.

I LOVE hummus myself. I make my own & load it up with tons of lemon juice or garlic (depending on how I'm feeling). Yummy!

I think after reading this, i'll be having a baked chicken breast with hummus & a salad for dinner. MUST...have...hummus. *drool*

It's a dip made up of cooked/mashed chick peas, tahini paste and other things like olive oil, lemon, salt, garlic, etc.

They come in a variety of flavors. I find mine in the "Deli/Produce" area of the grocery store. DELICIOUS.

I usually eat celery/carrots with it or spread it on crackers or spread it on a whole-grain tortilla.

Your welcome! I will warn you that it is quite addicting! LOL!

If you can find "Joseph's" brand products, I love their hummus, tortillas and pitas.

Often for an afternoon snack, I will spread 2 tbsp of the roasted red pepper hummus on one of the Joseph's tortilla's. The total is 120 cals, 4 g fat, 7 g Fiber and 9 g Protein. Nice snack! Very filling too.

Love it, love it, love it..

roasted garlic, roasted red pepper, 40 spices, even plain is awesome.. I use toasted mini wheat pitas to dip...

How about Baba ganoosh (may be spelling wrong)? Anybody like this??

It is similar but made with roasted eggplant.. I love it out at restaurants, but have not been able to find a good store brand or recipe..

    Suggestions appreciated..

    Thanks, Jb

I am right there with y'all on loving hummus! My favorite is tomato basil. That spread on a toasted whole wheat pita with a Morning Star basil mozzarella pizza burger!!! OMG Nirvana! That is my new favorite meal.
  • I LOVE baba ghanoush. I keep mine pretty simple:

1 eggplant ( cut length wise and roast for 30-40 minutes at 400 face down on lightly oiled pan)
    1/4 cup sesame tahini
    2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
fresh lemon juice (to your taste)
1-2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
    sea salt

Only thing I like more than hummus. I know you are "supposed" to refrigerate it. But it is sooo good warm on whole wheat pitas that are toasted.

Trader Joe's has a spicey hummus that is delish!

I used to think it was gross before I found out what it was.

I like garbanzo beans and bean dip so why wouldn't I like this!?!?!

Is this all blended together? I've never heard of it, but sounds like it might be good (I like eggplant)
  • Yes! In a food processor or blender works well.

I do!!! Everyone always looks at me funny but I do! They are especially good with triscuit thin crisps. Just enough saltiness to go with it!

I love hummus and cheese sandwiches! (2 slices of wheat bread, 1 slice of provolone, 2 tbsp hummus, 1 tomato, 1 slice of onion, fresh spinach)

A great local brand to the midwest is Holy Land, from the Holy Land halal in Minneapolis. I like the sun-dried tomato flavor the best.
