Hey Jake Hmmmmmmmmm getting some hedge roses. I bet that is what I seen in some of our Parks that I have been admiring. Look it up on the internet after seeing your post and think I just might have to order me some. Let me know how yours is doing? What color?

PS love your little red car. My son-in-law has one that he is fixing up. His is red too.

    Good Morning,
I have had my coffee and breakfast, read the paper and did the elipitical for 45 minutes (150 calories).
It is a beautiful day here with warm weather (60's) and sunshine. :flowerforyou:
Going to make me and my husband a protein shake and then hit the shower. :embarassed:
Every Sunday we go to his son's for dinner so I have to watch my calores at home because he and his wife could care less how many calories they eat or what kind of food they eat. (Some day they will be sorry because they are both in their 40's).

Have a wonderful day and hope all of you stay true to yourself.

    Good Morning to All,

This is a nice peaceful day here.

This is my day to weigh officially (yes, I get on the scale in between weigh days but nothing counts until today) The big news is that I lost a pound this week.

I wore my new thin pants and shirt out to dinner last night. I ordered stir fry vegetables and tofu and a rice paper spring roll with tofu and drank lots of water. I ate light all day so the restaurant meal would be OK with my calories.

Today is a day for chores and movie watching. The dogs can't wait until we settle down in the living room with the movie on:bigsmile:  I'll ride the exercise bike for awhile during the movie.

I hope you're all having a nice day.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, your granddaughter is lovely. I'm glad her big day went well for her.

:flowerforyou: Marie, your Sunday sounds perfect:bigsmile:

Hi, I am back to check in but it seems pretty quiet here today. Everyone must be busy this weekend hopefully doing fun stuff but still staying focused.
We had pork roast with stuffing and corn at my step son's, so that wasn't too bad on my calories.
Tonight is one of my favorite TV nights so I won't be checking back until later or tomorrow. I am going to the Horseshoe Casino in Indiana tomorrow with two friends, is that near you Jeffrey?

Enjoy the rest of your evening, talk to you soon.

hey everyone! sounds like you're all doing great! Barb - hooRAY on the lost pound and the smaller clothes! That is SO fun!!!!!!!
Sandy - i love your new picture - you look fabulous!
Marie - your Sundya sounds perfect!

I went out with some friends just for a little bit last nite - i was so tired. Just drank water. Then today i had to go to a jewelry party - the young woman who had it and her husband have been SO good to my kids - let them stay there when the skunk was under their house......they're really good friends and neighbors. I kinda blew it overthere. I was going to leave early to go to yoga, but only 3 people showed up so i felt like i should stay........anyway, i ate too much AND didn't work out so now i feel kinda bad. AND tomorrow is my day to weigh:cry: i'm worried i'm going to gain.

I just worked in the house this morning - jeez, i'm working on stripping doors and moldings upstairs right now in my soldier/son's old bedroom. There's red and blue paint on top of lime green paint, on top of varnish. I think i spent 10 hours this weekend and got 2 doors each HALF done. Kinda frustrating but i just have to keep on keepin on.......

Well - i'm going to try and settle in with my dogs for awhile now - we're expecting snow here tomorrow so i have my 2 outside dogs over here with me and my litte dashhound.

Sorry i didn't mean to complain so much! Tomorrow's another day! G'nite all! elli

    Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I got a lot of outside work done yesterday and Saturday I got to see my youngest daughter. She had a catalog photo shoot in Indianapolis and then came up for the afternoon. It was great! Yesterday I work outside cleaning out the woods line and fertilizing the yard. Also got a repair job done on one of my mowers. Yesterday was a an absolutely gorgeous day! And I got a very good work out in, all strength training.

Sandy the Horseshoe is about 2 hours from me, staight west.

Jake- I have been buying clothes too. I just hate to part with the money! LOL I have about 22 suits that I hope I will never wear again. I don't know how many other pants and shirts, but there is a very considerable amount. I have not got my clubs out yet but the course I live on had a fair amount of play this weekend. It is greening up fast.

Elli- how did the weekend go, eating all your food?

Marie- always great to hear about your days!

Everyone have the best Monday ever! There will never be another like it!

hey Jeffrey - thank you for asking. I gained a pound this morning so i'm not that thrilled with myself:cry: I went to a jewelry party thing yesterday and ate a piece of cake so i went over in calories yesterday. I tried to stay at 1200 the rest of the week - i did pretty well most days. I worked on my house for 10 hours during the weekend and didn't make it to the gym OR yoga, so that wasn't so great either. This week i'm REALLY going to try and eat all my calories every day, make it to the gym 3 times and hot yoga twice. Simple goals.

We have a winter storm watch here for the next 24 hours. So far it's just crazy windy (which REALLY gets on my nerves - makes me understand why pioneer plains women went crazy when their husbands were away working!), but we're expecting snow/rain. March is usually our snowiest month. I know we NEED the weather - but i'm feeling so depressed this morning and i'm sure that's part of it. Silly me! i have no reason to be depressed.................I'll get over it.

Have a great Monday everyone! I'll try and do another quick post tonight after the gym and stripping some more paint! elli

    Good Morning, All,

I tried a different breakfast this morning
1/2 cup eggbeaters, yellow and orange pepper and chopped onion in an omelet (spray, no calorie olive oil in the pan) with 2 slices of Sara Lee 45 calorie 100% whole grain toast with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray
less than 200 calories and yummy:bigsmile:

Then to the dog park, then to the thrift shop to drop off the stuff I got out of the closet this weekend.

I found the exercise video I have, now the next step is to actually use it.

Ellie---I saw the weather report last night and saw the snow predicted in your part of the country---stay warm and safe.:flowerforyou:

My chores are calling me:laugh: maybe I'll stop at the exercise bike first:bigsmile:

Elli- don't sweat the pound. It could be anything. My weight varies about 2% constantly. The way scales work you could have only been 2 ounces heavier than your last weigh in! See! There is always a positive take on things! Just stay the course!

Barbie- Congrats on the pound! Good for you!!! Keeping heading in same direction!

hi all, I'm finally rested up from the quick trip back home and the funeral. We didn't get much sleep, and I made up for it last night and by being sleepy all day today. I stayed home, and it was just as well.
It was a pretty day for a funeral, and there were a lot of people there. Mine and Jim's boss and his wife even came..we were surprised.. it is a two and 1/2 hour drive!

They played taps at the cemetery, which is a tearjerker if I ever heard one.. and Jim finally cried a bit. I'm glad for that.. he needed to.

Of course, there was food everywhere..I ate small amounts and that seemed to help with hunger control. I drank coffee and went outside to watch the little ones playing.
Jim's stepmother did very well, she was pretty tired, I know she is ready to get back to a routine.. and she will be planning her garden. We will probably visit her this week, but we wanted her to have a couple of days to herself first.

    take care

Phoebe, so good to hear from you. I know you how tired it could be. Just the stress would make anyone tired. I am glad his wife did just fine and how nice to have yours and Jim boss and his wife to show up. You get you plenty of rest. And Jim too.

Hi guys---I made me a pumpkin soup for my supper tonight. It was pretty good. I made it without a recipe, just dump. But I did look up some recipes on the web just now and made a copy of one of them to try next time. I really didn't know what kind of season to put in it so I just used cinnamin..

    Stalk to you guys later----Marie

    Hello Everyone,
Back from the casino without winning but not losing too bad. :ohwell: I ate off the buffet but really tried to watch, I ate a lot though and then met my husband and daughter in law with the grand daughter for a salad and half sandwich for dinner. I think I have one calorie left but will probably have a glass of wine while watching my shows. Ellie, I agree with Jeffrey, don't worry about the pound, I flucuate my weight daily. I think doing your weigh in would be better on a Friday since most of us tend to cheat just a little over the weekend. :blushing: I myself, did not exercise today but will make it up tomorrow. We do the best we can and at least we are doing something.

Glad to hear from everyone else and am glad everyone had a good weekend.

Phoebe and Jim, we all wish you well and hope there is some comfort in that for you.

    Good Morning!

Marie you are up and moving early! I love to go to casinos too. Last year I hit a royal flush on a video poke machine in Oklahoma. I had a max bet and it paid real well!

Sandy-glad you got home without losing too much!

Again it is pretty quiet here, just working and working out! I have a strained muscle in my left arm that is impacting my workouts a bit, but I am working around it. We are supposed to get some rain and storms later today. Elli I think that this is what you were getting as snow.

Everyone have a great day and enjoy!

    HI Everyone,

I didn't sleep well last night either. It was after 3:00 before I fell asleep, I think I had too much on my mind, not sure. :glasses: I feel bad for you Marie, hope that everything is ok.
Jeffrey, sorry about your pulled muscle, we all know how hard you work out and it must be a bummer.
Bgamma, you must be very busy with your great granddaughter, which is good.
Ellie, hope you are over being depressed and feel good about yourself, we sure feel good having you in our group to motivate us.
Barb and Jake, you are still such a cute couple and working together to lose weight is so impressive.
Phoebe and Jim, you know how we all feel about you. :flowerforyou:

Plan on trying to 30 minutes of eliptical and 30 minutes of Wii Coach to make up for not execising yesterday. :blushing:

    Have a good day.

Good morning everyone - Marie and Sandy - i HATE that when i don't sleep. I'm sorry you guys - maybe you can both get a nap in today. I think i've heard something about when you're trying to lose weight you do better with more sleep too (has anyone else heard that? i didn't just make it up did i???? )

I got a note from Lafla as well Marie - hopefully she'll be here with us soon. I told her she'll know when she's ready, but she'll get lots of support over here! Over the weekend i saw a big black fire down by that cow, so i'm HOPING it's gone. I haven't walked down there though because instead of snow we're getting WIND. It's AWFUL - the kind of wind that just drives you (me) CRAZY! My friend Ang and i work in a steel building and the noise is so aggravating!!!!!!! Makes us want to eat but we're resisting!

Thank you Sandy - i'm done being depressed, sometimes it just comes over me. Thank God it doesn't last for more than a day!

Thanks also for all your encouragement and telling me to not worry about gaining a pound. I'm trying REALLY hard to eat all my calories but i've been wondering if the machines i work out on could be recording my burned calories wrong. Because really you guys, i feel like i'm eating too much!!!!!!! But i'm going to keep with it for this week and see what the scale says.

I'm sorry, i don't remember who suggested weighing on Friday instead of Monday 'cause we tend to "cheat" a little on the weekends? Anyway, by weighing ON Monday morning i keep myself a little more accountable during the weekend FOR the weigh in on Monday morning! Does that make sense?

Barb and Jake - how are you guys doing? I love it that you do the healthy lifestyle together. I think if you have a partner in life it must make it SO much easier to have this same mind set!

I love all of you guys who are so encouraging and great help on this journey! Take care, have a great Tuesday. I hope some of you are having beautiful weather! I'm HOPING for snow to replace this dang wind!!!!!!!!:flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou: elli

Hi everyone, sorry for those of you who did not sleep well.. I made up for all of you!! Well, I tossed and turned, but always went right back to sleep. I've got to dig out the memory foam mattress topper I removed from our bed. It is time to try it again. Jim's hip has started to bother him. Of course, he was in and out and under the house most of the day, could have a little to do with that hip pain!!
he got the broken faucet fixed, and the valves in the bathtub repaired too.. hopefully, he will take it easy today, but I already hear the saw going in the garage.. he at least is moving, unlike the computer potato I am.. oh well.. I plan to shop a little today. If I go alone, I park far away from the store, and count that as walking.. If I can remember, I will attach my pedometer and see if it motivates me to move even more! haha, you are all such energetic people, and I just want to curl up and sleep!
We never win big at the casinos, but we thoroughly enjoy the little bit we lose!! We don't go often, no time.
Elli, I know how loud that wind can be, and you think it will never end.. it is terrible to drive all day in it too.. your arms get so tired. I can only suggest earphones/music/audiobooks to distract you.
I'm glad your cow problem may be gone.. at least the neighbors decided to do something about it, instead of leaving it. I was walking in the woods once and came upon a carcass and it was a mess.. not even the little cat walking with me went near it. The owners just shoot them when they find them injured.
now that I've given you all lovely images, I will sign off and get myself busy!!
    take care

hi Phoebe - oh yea, i remember driving in the wind, you really get rocked around and yes, your arms end up sore!
I HOPE that cow is gone - like i said, it's been so windy we haven't walked down there to find out......i'll let you guys know when the wind quits and we can walk again!
Man - your Jim sure is a Mr. Fixit around the house isn't he???? Can i borrow him for a bit to work on my house???????? it's still such a mess!
When do you guys head back out?
Glad you got lots of sleep!
    Take care,
    Happy Tuesday everyone!

    Good Morning.

Marie, Jake, and I are signed up at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/46246-total-lbs-lost-master-list-open-to-all
Check it out. You update your weight every week along with the rest of the team (100 people in all) and it shows the collective weight lost by the whole group.

Phoebe and Jim:flowerforyou: glad you're home and back to your routine. This has been a huge ordeal for you and you deserve a lot of rest and pampering for awhile.

I've read a lot of articles about how getting enough sleep keeps you from gaining weight
that people who don't get enough sleep tend to put on more weight. I'd love to sleep more but I just naturally wake up early. When I gave up caffeine at the end of January I thought that might make a difference. It's made a difference but I still don't sleep past 7 AM. I hate it when I don't sleep well and if I get up in the middle of the night, the dogs think it must be time for them to be walked.

We have a casino near here and of course, they're all over Washington State. We go sometimes and play the penny slots. I play one penny at a time and can play til my head hurts on $5.00. I'm not a gambler. I never expect to bring home more money than i bring with me. We have lots of friends who go to the casinos all the time and we like going with them.

I've been weighing on Sunday for no really good reason except that I can write the weight on the wall calendar on the left side where it's easier to find. I don't know if I eat too much different on weekends so I don't if it would matter whether I weighed on Friday or Monday. We have a weekend out of town planned in April so that may make a big difference.

Phoebe: I've been wearing a pedometer faithfully for the last year and I love it. I park far away from the store to take extra steps, I walk up and down aisles in the store even if I don't need anything on that aisle, I carry small loads of things to the garage or the laundry room just to get a little extra walking. When we travel in the motorhome, I take a short walk at rest stops when we stop and the steps add up.

Elli: I don't necessarily trust the calories burned information on my pedometer and my exercise bike, either but I figure that I can compare them to each other from day to day. Because of that I can tell if I burned more or similar calories from day to day and as long as I stay equal or better, then I'm OK. I also don't try to eat all those calories. I try to eat at least 1200 calories every day and make sure that those calories are nutrition dense (100 calories of steamed green beans rather than 100 calories of Oreos). I usually eat more than 1200 calories but not the 400-600 calories that my pedometer and exercise bike tell me I've burned.. I plan my meals in the morning and stick to the plan so even if I burn a ton of calories, I won't try to stuff in an extra 300 at bedtime. Right now it's working for me so until it doesn't work, I'll stick by my plan. When I get within 10 pounds of my goal, like you, I'll be looking to you for your advice and experience.

We had friends over last night and have some more friends coming this morning so we've cleaned the house and it looks great.

Thanks and big hugs to all of you:bigsmile:

    Happy Wednesday!

The work week is 1/2 over! Got a pretty good workout in last night. I had to work through the arm hurting and I am paying for it today. But I made it! I need to focus on cleaning up my diet. I have gotten sloppy. I don't eat anything bad, but I have a tendancy to eat more than I should. Dried apricots are weakness for me. They are good for you, but high in calories, and I eat way too many of them!

We are trying to see if we can afford another cruise this year. I just hate to committ with the economy the way it is and not feeling secure at work. But I really would like to go again! We have been on several and they have been the best vacations I have ever had.

Elli- tonight is my yoga night. I wonder how my arm will hold up. I have been getting stronger and stronger with my routine and I don't want to lose ground due to a sore arm. Oh well, just a curse of aging! LOL

My sister in law is getting her prognosis from her cancer specialist today. She has been through 2 rounds of Chemo. It has been weighing heavy on all of us. She is a real sweet gal, only 50 years old.

Rainy and chilly here today. It is supposed to get a little better later on. Did anyone here get dumped on by the snow storm?

    Have a great day everyone!

    Good Morning,

I took two tylenol pm's last night so I slept good, except a friend from Florida called and woke me up this morning.

As much as I hate to do this I am going to change my weight loss, it seems I have gained two pounds. :explode: I do go up and down but I am going to just try and post my weight on Wednesday's from now on, whether I go up or down. Darn, I thought I was doing so good.

Jeffrey, I really hope your arm gets better soon, have you been to the doctor? Your SIL is so young, what kind of cancer does she have?

We went on a family cruise a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. It will be a while before we will be able to do that again, although my daughter and her husband are going in May and I will be heading to Minnesota to watch my two grandsons.

Going to work out again today, watch my diet better and hope for better results in the future.

    Have a good day.

Sandy- Thanks for asking about my SIL. She has Breast Cancer as the primary. It has spread throughout the body, ovarian, and abdominal. She is really doing quite well all considered. We seen her Saturday and she looked very strong and upbeat. She is a real good person. She has been treated by MD Anderson in Houston. They are very good.

No doctor visit for the arm, at least yet. I have just had a case of thinking 25 and being 55! LOL I will heal, just slower than it used take.

Don't worry about the 2 pounds. For some reason last week I shot up 6 pounds in 2 days. It was mathematically impossible with my diet, but it happened. I think it was sodium related. It came right back off in 2 days. Water.. Just hang in there and stay the course. Remember as you work out muscle tissue weighs more than fat tissue. I really don't worry as long as things fit the same.

    Have a great day!

hi to all of you early risers!! I thought I was up early, it was so dark out, but it was not so early.. it was raining. I'm supposed to be packing up tax info to mail to the cpa.. here I am on the pc, but I will be doing it soon.
Got pintos in the crockpot, I'm making extra, I will ride to Irene's tomorrow(and I WILL get up early:happy: ) - so I thought I'd take some to her as well. She has a house full of food, but I know it is a lot of meats and casseroles and sweets, so we can have a mixed lunch tomorrow. Irene is Jim's stepmother, and she is not doing as well as I thought she would. She is taking something for her nerves, just half a dose. She knows how to take care of herself best, so I won't butt in on that. She got to go out and pull weeds yesterday, before the rain came, and she said it felt good.

Marie, the doctor put Jim on a medicine for his diabetes call Acto Plus Met. She said it would make him retain water, and he should watch his sodium intake, as well as watching for rapid weight gain. He is a bit past due to weigh this week, with all that has been going on. I am too.. I wonder where he put the scale.. the bathroom is currently gutted.. we are putting in bead board paneling and other stuff.

No more excuses.. got to get the tax stuff mailed..
take care all, have a warm day!

Phoebe,,, I haven't heard of that med. did the doc take him off of insulin. I sure would not want to take thing to make me retain fluild. I do enough of that on my own. It is surpose to rain here this afternoon some may be severe. Your pintos sounds good my faverite beans. Docter up with onions. chile powder and bell peppers. yum. And of course cornbread. How do you cook your in the crock pot? I put mine in crock pot and fill it almost full of water and cooked them all night. on low. And then cooked them down and season them up the next morning.. Making me hunger. But I just had my lunch so not too hungry. Jim is still working on the house. Its gonna be nice when he get thru with it.

It is nice that you will drive up to see Jim's step mom. his illness came up rather fast didn't it?
