Good Afternoon,
This is line dance day so I didn't get to the computer until after lunch (salmon burger, frozen spinach, sliced tomato, sliced apple)
One of the things I've been able to do thanks to logging my meals on MFP is control sodium. It was such an eye opener to me to see how much sodium there was in some of my favorite foods. We can still eat some of them if we have them with a whole day of low or no sodium foods but we gave up canned vegetables and nearly all processed foods.
Today is my birthday and we're going to have dinner with some good friends to celebrate my birthday along with their youngest daughter's 15th birthday. I'm bringing the salad (spinach, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, onion, little corn, artichoke hearts, red, orange, and yellow pepper, with spray dressing served salad bar style so we'll have some control over what we eat.
Jeffrey, you're just like me with an injury
i just work around it and expect the best. Nothing seems to keep me down.
My goals today;
*eat smart tonight
*drink lots of water
*get on the exercise bike this afternoon
Time to do my chores
Have a great day:bigsmile::flowerforyou:

Happy Birthday Barbie, have a wonderful celebration, you are worth it!!
Marie, I don't know if this med is new, but Jim is still taking Byetta shots, and glimiperide along with the acto plus.. well, he is keeping the numbers down anyway, except when he doesn't take his meds!
finishing up a couple of things, then getting back to laundry and early to bed.
I put the pintos on low most of the time, then cook them past done(!) Then I season them lightly, usually salt and pepper. I would love to put in green pepper and chile pwdr, but Jim wouldn't love it.
I've also got to put on some turnip greens tonight, cook them overnight and take pintos and greens to Irene.. that did rhyme didn't it!!
Jim wanted Chinese, so we will have our vegetables tomorrow night when I get home. He orders steamed veggies and shrimp. He doesn't eat as much sodium from that meal as he does from a lot of others.
take care, goodnight0 -

hi everyone - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY Barbie!
:flowerforyou:
sorry i missed you yesterday. I hope you had a wonderful day and a fun dinner!
Sorry i haven't been on so much - just seems like every time i go to post something comes up. We've been pretty busy at work, and that's a GREAT thing. I feel so blessed and fortunate.
We're in a blizzard warning now - until tomorrow morning. The schools are all closed and it's snowing like crazy. This is a good thing because it's so DRY. The roads are awful tho - the radio is telling us not to go anywhere if we don't have to so not sure i'll get to the gym this afternoon.
I figured out when i work out on the machines at the gym, if i use the programs that allow me to enter my weight - it seems like the calorie count may be more accurate. Also i changed my yoga calories burned from 800 to 600. The teachers say between 600 and 1200, the website says about 900.......but i figure because i'm small (122 #s) it takes more for me to burn more..........Anyway - this is feeling better to me and allowing me to eat less without getting the "starvation mode" message at the end of the day!
Well - it's payday around here so i better get the checks cut (all 2 of them! ) Everyone have a fabulous day - hopefully i'll be able to check back in tonight! elli0 -
It amazes me how some of you burn so many calories, I would have to work out for hours to burn more than 200 calories. I am happy with what I do however and it seems to be working so I will just continue on this road.
Ellie you are a little pipsqueak. You work hard to maintain your size keep up the good work.
Have a busy day today and hope I get a chance to exercise. Have a meeting this afternoon and then have to get ready for a weekend in Detroit. My granddaughter is in a dance competition.
Will check back later and hope you all have a wonderful day.0 -
By the way where do you see any messages when you get them, like the starvation message you mentioned? I never get any messages for MFP, is that good or bad?0
-
Here is my before picture at Christmas dinner. I DO NOT EAT LIKE THIS ANYMORE
hOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.--Marie]

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Sounds like everyone is well! I am now struggling with a little weight gain/maintenance issue. I think my body has adapted to my workout routine. I will have to check my body fat percentage to see if I am making any gains without weight loss. If that does not work, I will have to pickup the intensity of the workouts and probably go to 2 hours a day. Yuck! I hate the thought of that. then again, I may have to go back to charting my foods. I may just be snacking too much.
Marie- I enjoyed looking at your pic from Christmas! Looks like a nice family!
Elli- Be careful out there! Hope you have a good snow shovel!
Sandy- Have a good trip to Detoit. You may hit some crappy weather. We are supposed to have storms on Saturday. Good luck to the dancer!
PJ, Barbie, BG and all the rest have a good Thursday!
Jeffrey0 -
he everyone! Marie - that looks like an aweosme big family dinner! I hope to have big dinners like that in my house once it's finished! But good for you that you don't eat like that anymore - i know it's hard to make these huge lifestyle changes. You're doing such a great thing for your health, hourself and your family!
Well thank you Sandy - lol, i guess i am kind of a pipsqueak - i still feel huge sometimes tho. My dil is 5' and i always feel like "amazon woman" next to her! At the end of logging your food for the day, on your homepage - where you hit the bar that says........done logging food - or something like that. If you're under your calories for the day you get that one message. It tells you you're under calories and they suggest you get at least 1200 (which i ALWAYS do - just when i have lots of workout calories that get subracted..........) or else your body will go into starvation mode yada yada yada:huh: . That's the only message i ever get and i think the fact that you don't get it is a good thing!
Jeffrey! I so don't think you need to add MORE to your workout routine!!!!!!! I think 2 hours a day (and how many days do you do that?) is too much on a regular basis. I remember when i was working out at this one gym, and working out like crazy like that - one of the trainers told me i actually needed to take a week OFF and rest my body! That would be my suggestion to you before you go adding MORE!!!!!!!!! BE KIND TO YOURSELF!!!!!!!The maintenance is the HARDEST. I know personally, i'm kind of addicted to the losing 'cause i'm getting so much positive feedback. the maintaining is just tough. But you're determined and you can do it!
OMG you guys - you should SEE the weather here. Remember how i was saying i knew we were going to get "slammed"............well, here it is. We're in a blizzard warning 'till tomorrow morning. I've already sent my 1 employee home - everything is closed or closing. I keep checking with my son on the oilfield - he says he'll be working all night but we're trying to get his girlfriend home now. They live way out in the country too and she's in town at work:grumble: My daughter in law lives 130 miles south of here and shes in the blizzard warning too so i just called her and now she's headed home from work. I'm SO not going to the gym today so i'll have to be really careful about my calories!:ohwell:
Well - i hope some people are enjoying spring weather!!!!!!:flowerforyou: I'm sure we'll be back to it in a couple of days! Take care everyone and have a great day!!!!!!!elli:bigsmile:

Elli- Get home and stay in! LOL Enjoy the evening!0
-
Jeffrey - i work out of my barn - i literally walk across the driveway to home! So i'm good!
I MAY have to run a rope from the house to the barn tho!!!! Thanks for the concern!
Sandy - if you go to your home page and hit that bar - complete today's entrys - right after you eat breakfast - you'll see that message i told you about. And don't worry - you can still log on the rest of the day - it won't make you quit!
elli0 -
Elli- It's 65 and sunny here today! (awwwwwww that was mean of me!) LOL0
-
Hi
64 here , we are having a cold front move thru.
Elli, you are a good forcaster. We never, from one minute to the next what will happen here. Just heard the forcast here and it doesn't look to good for Denver Be careful and hope your family is all Ok.
Marie0 -
thank you Marie - the only one who is still "out there" is my son Dakota, and he says he's got huge messes all over on different oil fields. He expects to be out there all night - but i don't worry about him as much as the girls. I'm just not sure if my niece is home yet with her 2 little ones.
Nice Jeffreyso nice!!!!!!!!! Well, i'm glad SOME of you are having nice spring weather!!!!!!
So i'm not going to make it to the gym today - all my exercise tapes and dvds are packed away - maybe i'll dance around my house for awhile. Good thing i live way out in the country:laugh:
Happy Thursday all!!!!!!!!! elli0 -
Ellie, thank you, my message right now says I am in starvation mode. Like that happen, I always eat all my calories, or in some cases drink a glass of wine and I am right there.
Sorry about that bad weather, hope everyone made it home ok.
Marie, it looks like a good family dinner, that is really important along with your health.
Jeffrery, I am flying with my granddaughter to Detroit because I don't ever trust the weather, besides I hate driving anything over 3 hours. :glasses:
Better get packing and organized, will check in later.
You guys are the best........................ :flowerforyou:0 -

Hi Everybody,
It's in the 40's here and we just had our automatic sprinkler system turned back on.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: The daffodils are just about to open.
thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. My day was great---line dance and phone calls and cards from friends and then all the warm wishes from you.
the dinner party turned out great. We brought a ton of salad stuff in colorful plastic bowls. the teenagers made sushi so we were able to eat well and stay under 500 calories. We avoided the creamy artichoke dip with french bread, the fried chicken and the veggies with rice noodles and of course, we just said "No" to birthday cake. The we came home, walked the dogs, and each rode the exercise bike for 20 minutes.
Marie :flowerforyou: Thank you for the cute Pooh banner. You are becoming very "techno-savvy" with the pictures you're adding to your message. Your family looks great in the picture and now you have a perfect "before" picture to go with the new slim you that you are creating.
Elli:flowerforyou: stay safe and warm in the blizzard. Now that i know how small you are, I understand how challenging it is for you to drop those last pounds.
Sandy---:flowerforyou: have a great weekend in Detroit. flying sounds like a great idea:bigsmile:
Jeffrey:flowerforyou: When I was in my 30's I worked full time and worked out at a gym with a personal trainer for two hours three days a week and danced an hour a day five days a week at Jazzercise, but that was a long time ago. i admire your amazing workout schedule. You inspire me.
I've been watching the Figure skating world championship while riding the exercise bike. The skaters probably work out for many hours each day but they're a lot younger than we are.
Thanks to all of you for being there every day. You continue to inspire me.:bigsmile:

Hi Everyone - hope you're having a good night!
Barbie - i used to love jazzercize! That was always such a fun workout!
Today i didn't want to drive anywere in the blizzard so i just shoveled snow, did some housework, danced around the living room for 30 minutes and did a bunch of sit ups. Not one of my normal workouts, but better than sitting around eating! Hopefully tomorrow the roads will be cleared by the time i'm off work and i can go to the gym or yoga! It's getting down to 0 tonight - brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! i'm a little worried about the pipes freezing in my real house - i jus ran over there and turned the heat up to 60.
Sandy - i KNOW - that just kills me when it says i'm going to go into starvation mode - no, i don't think so!!!!!! Have a great weekend with your grand daughter in Detroit. Is she in a dance competition? Or performance?
Jeffrey - your workout schedule wears me out just HEARING about it!!!!!!!!!!
OK group - i'm going to get ready for bed. Talk to you all tomorrow! It will be another new day - 1 day closer to all our goals!!!!!!!!GO US!!!!!!!! elli

Hi All,
Packed and ready to fly to Detroit in the morning. Elli, she is in a dance competition in Detroit, she dances for a great dance company and without bragging too much, they usually sweep the competition. :blushing: They do local competitions and end up doing Nationals in July, this year it will be in Las Vegas, so her grandmother is excited about that. Hope your weather gets better soon, I hate winter even though I live near Chicago.Jeffrey also wears me out with his workout routine but it sure works for him. Good job Jeff!! I am more than impressed with Marie with her tech skills, I am really good on the computer and make lots of DVD's, but cannot figure out how to add the picture like you did Marie or add the cute birthday pictures. I am jealous.
Better go to bed, have to be up early. I won't be checking in until I get back Sunday so know my good wishes are with all of you. Keep up the good work.
Have a great weekend.
Sandy0 -
Sandy, I do not have any skills with this computer. I write down the problems I have and when Alice my daughter comes out she get me back on track till I forget again and she has to go over it again.. She checks everything out for me. My other daughter Kathy could care less about being on the computer and really don't knows beans about it. When you get back I will go thru the steps with you on how to post your pictures if you like too. I think I got it down pretty good now. And I love to post pictures just because I can.
Good luck , I know you are a proud Gramma. Is your husband going with you. It is so nice that you can go. You are a Go Go gramma.
Keep it up Sandy and you will stay young forever. And thanks for sticking with us. I enjoy your post so much.
Love, Marie0 -
TGIF!!
Got back on track last night with the workouts and watching what I eat. I have not been eating anything bad but just too much of the good stuff! Too many snacks. Anyway I think that I have turned the corner and the weight is practically all back off. I just need to keep focused and remember what it took to get here. You all have permission to get after me for getting a little too lax!
Elli- Has the blizzard ended?
Marie- Anything new with you?
Sandy- Have a good trip to Mo-Town!
Barbie- Got a big weekend planned?
PJ and BG- What's new with you two?
Everone else- Keep in touch! I really enjoy all the post.
Our youngest has a vocal contest on Sunday so we are going to go hear her sing in that, it will be fun. We are supposed to have a chilly wet weekend so I will not be able to work outside and next weekend we will be going to get our oldest daughter. So we are getting "spring busy".
Everyone have a great day!
Jeffrey0 -

Elli---- Hope you made it thru the night OK. How many inches of snow did you get? And what do you do out in the barn all day? You musst have your computer set up out there.
I have to count and see if I got everyone. I counted 7 so I guess I got all the regular ones.
Love to all ----Marie0 -
Oh Sandy - that sounds SO fun with your Granddaughter! I hope she ROCKS! How old is she? Is it ballet? I know you won't be back for awhile but i hope you have a fabulous time!!!!!! I can understand why you're proud!!!!!
Hope the granddaughter isn't being TOO tough on you Biggramma!!!!! I remember one time when i left my young sons with my Mom for a week and at the end of the week my then 4 yr. old exclaimed "gramma - you're wearing me out!" too funny:laugh:
Well Marie - i too, was so impressed with your computer savvy! NOW we know your secret!!!!!! I'm always amazed by how much more "techy" people are the younger they are. Of course, i don't know what my excuse is - i'm the same age as your kids!!!!! I can run the software for my business ok - and a few other things.........OH - i run my business out of the barn - so that's where i am most days! We ended up with about 14 inches - there was lots of wind so some big - 3 & 4 ft - drifts. I'm trying to find my way AROUND most of them! It's supposed to be pretty nice now 'till monday - then more snow. Thank you all for your concern for me and mine! Dakota didn't even have to work all night - just went back out around 5:30 this morning.
Jeffrey - very exciting with BOTH your girls! One is singing and one is coming home!!!!!!! NIIIIIIIIIICE!
OK - happy Friday everyone. I have the pick up plugged in and hopefully i'll be able to get out of the driveway today to make it to the gym!!!!!!!!! Talk to you later!!!!!!! love and hugs - elli0 -
Hi Elli, Gosh I have never seen 14 inches of snow. So I have no ideal how it look.. glad it is going to warm up some. If we had that much in Dallas we would be snow in. A little ice just knock our block off to no end. Oh by the way I did post some pics on my profile. it is a pics of my daughter Kathy and my cat Caliecat. Will post some more later. Thanks for the help. I never did get your blog. Don't know what I did wrong. Have a good day
and to all the rest of you have a wonderful day.
Marie0 -
hi Marie! Your daughter Kathy and her hubby are so cute! AND your Caliecat looks beautiful!!!!!!
I think i told you i had a Callie - she was beautiful too, more gray than yours and long haired. I just lost her this winterWhen i used to drive truck I drove down to Dallas quite a bit - i remember when there was any ice down there people freaked out about driving!!!!!!!! It's melted quite a bit today - i only had to use 4 wheel drive one time to get out of the driveway! It's all good. That dang old dead cow is still down there:sick: GROSS! The farmer says he is going to get rid of it soon though - so that's good!
To get to the blog on my house, you just type in: ellisnewhouse.blogspot.com
don't know why you can't find it?!?!?!? Ask Alice!!!!!!!!!
OK, i'm almost off work, then it's off to the gym for my pudgy but:laugh: have a great afternoon and evening everybody!0 -

TGIF:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
We've all worked hard all week (even those of us who are retired:bigsmile: )
this was a red letter day for me.  At line dance today two women said that it looked like I'd lost weight. I've been happy enough just noticing it myself and since I'm doing this for myself, I didn't need any outside praise.
I've been recording the figure skating world championships to watch while I ride the exercise bike.
Jake is playing golf so I have the house to myself for a few hours (except for cats and dogs who either demand my attention or sleep)
We're going to hear a speaker tonight at an event preceded by a potluck. We're going to skip the potluck and eat our regular planned meal and then go just for the speaker.
Happy weekend to all of you. Let's all stick to our plans and grow healthier every day.  :bigsmile:0
