Back to topic: why Batman is not a super hero
Dictionary.com :
"superhero (ˈsuːpəˌhɪərəʊ) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]
— n , pl -roes
any of various comic-strip characters with superhuman abilities or magical powers, wearing a distinctive costume, and fighting against evil "
Even the dictionary declines Batman :O
it also declines Tony.
just sayin'.
This is not about Tony Stark/Iron Man. I will make a thread on Why Tony Stark is a super hero, if you'd like. Tony has superhuman abilities due to his chest and could control body armor with his mind. What more do you want! lol
DNA. lol0 -

I WANNA BE A SUPERHERO!!0 -
He is not my favorite superhero but I have to agree he is a superhero. He does things most people would not be able to do and so by that deffinition he would be considered more than human which is super human. Ex( planning abilities, martial arts, gadget building) but I also think green lantern, and Iron man are superheros.
Question though who do you guys think is the best supervillian0 -
ok - i'm gonna say this and then i really have to stop doing awesome stuff and get work done:
if your argument, as originally stated, is that Bruce Wayne is not a superhero b/c he is not a metahuman. then, with the same logic, ANY hero who is not a metahuman is not a superhero.
now, quit being so much fun, i have to work! :laugh:0 -

Taskmaster is my favorite and (in my opinion) best super villain. That or Ultron (WHO IS CYBORG AND WOULD BE CONSIDERED "SUPER")0 -

Didn't he die in the comics? Or did he come back to life, as I learned Batman did too0 -
The Joker
Agreed!0 -
Is he a hero? Yes. Is he a super hero? No. Yes, Batman is one of the most popular heroes of all time; however, as nerdy as I sound right now, it kind of irks me when I hear that he is a superhero. He doesn't have any super powers, nor any super human strength. He learned all of his fighting from martial arts masters. He has a utility belt and bajillions of dollars to support his bipolar"vigilante/heroic" ways.
This thread reminded me of one of my favorite quotes
"Superman's not brave. You can't be brave if you're indestructible. It's every day people, like you and me, that are brave knowing we could easily be defeated but still continue forward." ~ unknown0 -

There are so many different stories on the Joker's demise. My favorite is when Dollmaker cuts off his face :devil:0 -

Lol I saw this before.0 -
Hero/vigilante, but not a super hero.
Super heros have super powers.
Batman is a rich, vindictive individual.0 -

That's where a lot of people are wrong. Superheroes are super human... Indicating they are more "superior" than human. He is a hero, yes. Tony Stark is the "Batman" of Marvel and even HE has something "super" about him. His chest reactor keeps him alive, and so does his armor.
technically, he just has to be superior to other heroes...to be a superhero0 -

In what regard? Super human indicates that one would have to be superior to that of just a human.0 -
Batman has held his own against his own Justice League members, Darkseid and quite a few others. Yes he's not super powered but he is a Super Hero
In the beginning they needed to have super powers to be called superheros but over time it has been changed in the comics to cover costumed heroes too.0 -

He never fought Darkseid... That would be a joke if he did.0 -
One of the better examples is The Green Lantern, you take away his latern ring and he's a nobody.0

Well I should say he threw some gadgets at him and ran like hell So I guess he's super...brave0 -

But who said he is superhuman? Your OP is arguing that he is not a super hero. SUPER. HERO. And you can be a super hero by being *superior* to other heroes...no?0 -

Hahaha. Super brave yes... Super hero, not so much.0 -
But his suit has rubber nipples. Your argument is invalid.
LOL!!!0 -
But in all honesty Superman and Batman have always been my two faves for different reasons. Superman stands for truth and justice ( I refuse to say American Way because it's just not true, he stands for all good everywhere, plus he was created by a fellow Canadian )
Batman is the dark , tortured soul who protects the innocent even if is squishy.0 -

I'm not restarting this whole argument I had, lol -___-
In short, my argument is that he possess no super human abilities. I.E. super human strength, webs that shoot from his hands, etc. He is a hero, yes (a vigilante at most). I disagree with your statement on how you can be a super hero based on being superior to other heroes. Super heroes are SUPERIOR heroes. They're not called superior than heroes0
