Fresh/Raw veggitables and fruits are easier for the body to break down than complex things such as breads and meats, but they still contain sugar and starch which when not burnt will turn into body fat just like any other thing you eat. So while these calories may be easier to burn and may exit the body more quickly, if you aren't burning the calories you intake you will still gain.

No one can ever get fat eating tons of vegetables so i don't see the need to count the calories in them.

i don't add my veggie calories and still lose weight.!

I'm glad you're losing weight anyway, Wifee. Am wondering if maybe your better way of eating has included more healthy foods like veggies and you've cut out the crap? That would definitely account for continuing to lose. So congrats to you for the loss, but I still think everything should be counted. After all, you do get more "bang for your buck" by eating more veggies anyway.

Calories, Carbs and fats are just that. and need to be recorded. Of course they are so much better for you than many other foods, however as many have said they still add up.

I'm vegan that's essentially all I eat. I've been chubby my whole life! lol

Calories in calories out regardless where they came from <3

    =]

I think I'd vomit before I reached 3,000 calories of only veggies.

    ^^^ this

I am a vegetarian and often get told, "I didn't know there were fat vegetarians".

Everything adds up, no matter what shape its in.

it's not only about logging calories though- you also are logging the fiber, sodium. sugar, etc that might be in veggies.

Well if it works for you then it MUST be right for EVERYONE.

    *sigh*

"because it works for me" is THE WORST rationale. Period.

Everything should be recorded. Calories are calories, if you're over your limit it doesn't matter what those calories consisted of.

carrots and lettuce and peppers might not have alot of calories, but starchy veggies sure do. Beans and potatos and corn are loaded with calories. I count them all.

    Beans?

It would be impossible to eat enough veggies to get fat, they are too filling! I challenge anyone to gain weight by eating 1800 cals of veggies! And digesting and chewing something like celery is unlikely to result in a postive number of net calories.

FYI chewing and digestion are already included in your maintenance calories.
