February Ironman Challenge

New month, new Ironman challenge

For those who have been playing along since October, welcome back!
For new folks, wecome!

The challenge is to complete Ironman Triathlon mileage in the 29 days as follows:
--Running/ Walking 26.2 miles
--Biking 112 miles
--Swimming 2.4 Miles

We'll use this forum all month to log and report our mileage. You can log daily or weekly-- whatever keeps you motivated!

You may modify your mileage goals to suit your specific circumstances (e.g., no bike, no pool access, etc.) but you must SET and declare those goals at the beginning of the month, and it must still be a combination of running/walking, biking, and swimming.

    Well, personally January was an epic fail for me challenge-wise, so I am re-adopting my January 2012 goals for the month of February as folllows:

    * Running/ Walking 30 miles @ ~5 mph (+- 6 hours)
    * Biking 84 miles @ 14 mph (+- 6 hours)
    * Swimming 9 miles @ 1.5 mph (+- 4 hours)

    My goals are to do a little more in February than I did in January, which was:

    JANUARYy:
    Swim - 10.99 miles
    Bike - 180.01 miles
    Walk/Run - 30.23 miles -

    So here's what I'm shooting for:

    GOALS:
    Swim: 15 miles
    Bike: 200 miles (I might go completely insane doing that on the trainer)
    Walk/Run: 32 miles

    And, I started with a walk/run today, so here's my totals so far (HA!)
    Swim: 0 miles
    Bike: 0 miles (I might go complete insane doing that on the trainer)
    Walk/Run: 1.84 miles

    February is complicated by having a houseguest for a week and then a business trip. We'll see how it goes.

    So, what are YOUR goals for February?

    So, set some goals, whatever works for you, and get out and swim/bike/walk/run! :laugh: YOU can do it! Yes, you can. If I can do it, anyone can (I'm old, falling apart and fat!).
  • I would like to try the Ironman challenge...sooo what you're doing is giving yourself a mileage
    goal to meet for that month...and then just adding your mileage???

    I'm back and this month is no non-sense and no fail for me!

    Goals!
    Swim: 2.4 miles
    Cycle: 60 Miles
    Run: 60 Miles

    All run will be running only, some cycling will be on exercise bike and will be valued at time spent on bike by 12mph (my avg pace).

    And I will make it this month! Off in 20 to put my first mile on swimming!

    back in: revising goals after a poor Jan showing & some revised personal goals.

    My Goals
    20 mile swim
    20 mile bike
    60 mile jog/walk - hopefully more jogging, less walking

    2-1: 1 mile stairmaster (+weights + raquetball)

    WAHOO!!! I'm in again! And maybe (just maybe?) I'll make this month! Maybe...

    My challenge goal: 1.5X ironman numbers.

    3.6M swim
    168M bike
    39.3M run

    And we're off!

    Ok so I'm finally in again! I had chest pain for three months, but my doctor put me on a med to block pain receptors and I'm finally back to working out! I didn't work out for three month which is very unusual for me!

    So, in January this is what I did:
    Run 31 miles
    Bike 48 miles
    Swim 9.4 miles

    My February goals will be:
    Swim 11 miles
    Bike 100 miles
    Run 50 miles

    We'll see! I'm just glad to finally be back in the saddle! The medication I'm on causes weight gain, so I'll need some extra mileage!

    Nursing what I think are shin splints (burning in along the inner side of my shin, just above the ankle, and occasional stabbing pain). So I'm taking a couple of days off from running.

    75 running.

    I found you all. I have already made some progress...but just late in posting for the month
    Caught up on the end of Jan and I am so inspired by everyone. Great work everyone! Less days in Feb, but I am up to the challenge! :smile:
