Love curves. joined in march so i havent had any thing but the initial measurement. Lookign forward to seeing if there are any inches gone. I dont think the weight will be much different. But the best thing about Curves - STRESS RELIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!
I go during my lunch break most days and i am so much more productive in the afternoons. sitting at a desk all day and only exercising those "brain" muscles in tough. I love doing something for my self that is good for me too.
I am really stressed these days - my oldest daughter is getting married this summer, but before that she is graduating nursing school and is preparing for the license exam AND my youngest is graduating high school, my middle child has decided to stay at college this summer ( when i need her most ) and well my marriage is on the rocks but that is altogether a different story.
Anyway i love curves. i try to go 5 days a week during lunch. this week is all afterwork anyway. I dont like the squat machine - hurts my shoulders.
How many calories do you think you really burn in a 30 minute workout? i cant beleive 500 so on days i really try to keep up my heartrate i count 250? !

ours is closed during lunch! :grumble:

not sure how many you would burn. does your curves have the curves smart program? if not you could pick up a heart rate monitor then you would know.

sorry life is stressing you out :flowerforyou:

I was bad today, I got my period and had that exhaustion  that you get when you get it and for the first time I skipped it. However, I'm going to make it up tomorrow. I usually go mon, wed, fri so I'll go tomorrow in today's place. I felt guilty :blushing: not going and don't want to fall into that habit, it's very easy to come up with excuses. I need to kick my own *kitten* so that I go tomorrow

Ours is also closed during lunch. It's located right behind a Wendy's, 2 doors down from a chocolate shop! :grumble:

Hey all...... did Curves weigh/measure last night - 129 lbs - YEAH!!!!
Lost 1/2" on waist and belly, minor good changes on everything else. Burned 450+ calories according to Smart workout, which, of course, increased me by 9 after last week's good workouts. My quads were killing me by the end of the workout, but the effort is worth it. I am so happy the weight is moving in the right direction AND I can tell my clothes are fitting better; some of the 'fat pants" I had to buy for work in December because I couldn't button my pants are getting quite loose in the waist!!  128.5 this moring on the scales; another number I haven't seen in months:happy:
Hava a good day all........ enjoy the sunshine if you've got it!

Your life does need stress relief! Good that you're taking care of you and going to curves.

On the squat machine - they tell me that if it hurts my shoulders I'm not doing it right. I'm supposed to lift with my legs not my back or shoulders. I try really hard to concentrate on my legs when going up!

The calorie burn does seem high but I don't eat ALL of my burned calories to make up for it.

Hope today is a better day for you,

Well, even though I couldn't see my results on the computer I was able to check calories burned because I wear a heart rate monitor. I burned 263 calories this morning, including the stretching. Pretty good for only my 5th visit:happy: Now I just have to remember to check in on Wednesday morning before I start.

Maybe you could help us to know if the calories burned match the calories that the machines tell us? Next time you go could you compare and let us know?

oshow - we all have bad days. :grumble: Just look ahead and get a fresh start today.

mkwood - GREAT JOB :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Keep it up.

georg - Oh my - those are tempting establishments close to the Curves club! Focus Focus Focus:laugh:

yeahbuddy - are you back from Vegas yet? How did you do? Just remember to WALK, WALK, WALK!

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm headed off to the Curves. I missed yesterday due to a busy schedule and a headache. The headache is still here but I'm going anyway. Gotta keep on going!

 Hi! Nice to "meet" you all! My name is Lora and I am a Curves member. One of the trainers at my club actually introduced me to MFP. I have been going for over a year now and I have been stuck. I was trying the new eating plan but ditched it to follow the MFP guidelines and it is working!
I go to Curves 3-4 times a week, ususally at 6AM. It is rough to get there that early but I never regret starting my day with exercise!
We do not have the Smart machines so I usually log my Curves workout as circuit, general for exercise. Is that what you all do?
    Nice to be here!:flowerforyou: -Lora

Wecome Lora. I was considering trying the Curves weight loss plan but you didn't like it? Our club is having a Biggest Loser contest beginning the 16th and we all pay 10.00 to join. Then if we gain we have to add $1.00 (per pound I think) each week. The biggest loser for the month wins the money from all who paid in! I wouldn't be the biggest loser but I thought it might help get me going again?

I made my Curves (100%) and Curves (80%) in my exercise list and put the numbers the machines give but I think that is way more than what I'm really burning. What do you all think?

    Have a good day everyone.

Hey, grammy. I think maybe you got me confused with someone else:smile: . I didn't go to Vegas, although I would love to:heart:

And, yes, I will let you all know how my HRM compares when I actually do a full workout. Missed this morning as my power went out and I got up late. So, I'm going to go after work and will report back later. Are all Curves doing the BL contest? I'd love to get in on that!

    Welcome, Loma.

That sounds like a really cool contest.
We aren't doing that one at our Curves. We have a road race going on, though. You turn in a food & exercise log, & go 3 times each week & your car moves so many miles along the track. You get extra miles for bringing a friend & other stuff.
I'm excited. When I weighed in at home this morning I was down 2 pounds! That never happens to me. Maybe last week's exercise blitz paid off after all!

Oops :blushing: Guess so! I also read your name wrong. I think I have it now LOMA! Not Lora:blushing: Sorry:ohwell:

I think this BL contest is just at this Curves - not national. I am going to be gone the last week of the contest so I probably won't do it.

Hope you all have a great night.

He, he. This is funny. You had my name right (yeahbuddy) but when I welcomed Loma, it looked like I was telling you that was my name:laugh:

So, I am yeahbuddy, I didn't go to Vegas and we have a new member named Loma:bigsmile:

Well, I didn't get to Curves tonight but am definitely going in the morning. So, I'll let you all know about the calorie comparison when I get to work.

Good morning all!!! 128lbs on the scale this morning..... Yippee!!!
Consistently burning 450+ calories each Curves workout, which is great, but I HATE getting increased - yesterday it jumped me up 18 points!!!! My quads are still sore this morning, but everything else feels good.

My next goal is to maintain this weight for the next 2 weeks - my sister is having a mastectomy  :frown: :frown: next Monday, so I'll be traveling to MN to be with her and her family to help out. I don't know if I'll have time to hit their local Curves, if they even have one! April in MN- yuk!! I don't think there's still snow on the ground, but is certainly won't be the 60's-70's we've had here in Kansas, so I don't know how much walking I'll get in. Maybe I can con my 15-year old nieces into walking with me; that'd help with the motivation and distraction.

Hello everyone. Went off my usual schedule this week. I usually do mon, wed, fri but DD is off from school this week and I worked mon tue wed so it was hard for me. I did go Tue and I went back today and I'll do day 3 tomorrow. I guess as long as I get my 3 days in it doesn't matter. This week was hard for me mentally to go, I just didn't feel like it but I pushed myself and I went and I'm proud of myself for doing so, it would be so much easier to make an excuse and not go. This is week 9 for me at curves and I'll get weighed and measured sometime next week, that should help motivate me LOL

Has everyone been keeping up with their measurments, it really does keep you motivated and it's a reward for your hard work.

Marla, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister:brokenheart: But it's great that you are going to help out. I wouldn't stress too much about working out while you're there, it will only make matters worse for yourself. Just concentrate on trying to eat right then hit it hard when you get back.

Question, you say Curves bumped you up to 18 points. What exactly does that mean? I know it has to do with PI (again, what??). I noticed when I checked my results this morning that on April 3rd I was at 8 and today I was at 10. What does it all mean?

Good morning and I hope you are having a good day. I hear ya on the whole out of routine thing. I was supposed to go on Wed. but my power went out and I woke up late so wasn't able to go. Then I told myself I'd go after work. Didn't happen!! So, I went this morning but so wanted to just stay in bed because it wasn't my normal day to go. But I made myself do it and I feel so much better because I did.

I don't do my Curves measurements again till the 24th but I did them at 24 Hour several weeks ago. Maybe I should get them done again there, it's probably been over 6 weeks now. What I can say, though, is that all of my clothes are starting to feel looser, so I do believe I'm losing inches.

So, I used my HRM this morning and was going to compare the calorie burn with what the CurveSmart program said I burned. But....I forgot to check the calories burned on the program:explode: And, I didn't even realize it until I got to work and thought about posting my results:mad: But, my HRM said I did 289 calories before the stretching. With the stretching, it was 347. Seems to have gone up a little each time I've gone.

I'm really enjoying this program and am so glad I joined:glasses:

    Yeahbuddy,
Every time you scan into Curves Smart, it adjusts your performance index (at least I think that's what PI stands for) based on your last workout, increasing your PI if you advanced (completed more reps in green zone) on machines, and decreasing it if you didn't advance. I don't totally understand it, but I know it automatically keeps making your workout harder so you have to work harder to hit your PI goal, and thus improve your body!:happy:

I think that when it increases, that means you met your workout goals last time. If it decreases your goals, it might mean you just worked out yesterday so you need a light day, or maybe your last workout wasn't as rigorous.
Always ask the gals who work there. They are (or should be) highly trained & able to explain.

Marla - Sorry about your sister. You're a great sis to go stay with them during this time. Yes, walking with your nieces would be great for all of you. My sis and I spent 3 weeks last fall helping our brother who was having serious health issues. It is what family is all about huh!

I have the same question about the points on the smart machine. I can't figure it out when I check in but, I am just going to keep on pumping those machines. On my 100% days I burn around 499 and on the 80% it's usually aroung 450-460. Better than sitting on my bum huh! Also, I asked the trainer yesterday because I had missed on Tuesday then the next visit is back at 100%. So, I went monday 100%, missed Tuesday which would have been 80%, went on Wednesday and it automatically put me back at 100%. I was thinking it would stay the same whether I went or not as far as which days were 100% and which were 80%. So according to the HRM I should cut my calories burned down about 1/3?

Okay - Lora, welcome (that's your name right? but your screen name is Loma?) This old brain isn't working well the last couple of days

yeahbuddy - thanks for clearing this up for me:wink: Maybe someday I can ask you how your trip to Vegas was - when you really go

I haven't gotten measured again yet and won't until the 1st of May. It's not coming off as fast as I'd like but the last couple of days I've been dealing with allergy headaches that turn into migraines so haven't been myself as far as eating and sleeping.

Hope you all have a great day.

Okay - so I went to Curves and worked hard. Then when I checked to see what the calorie count was it was 938:noway: I asked and the trainer said I probably pulled my key out too early on one of the machines and that makes the computer go crazy. So...I'll just record what I have been doing before :grumble: I know it's never as much as the machine says but that's really out there!

    Have a good day everyone.

Went this morning and did my first full workout on SmartCurves. My calorie burn on the computer was 216 and my HRM was 230. So, it's pretty accurate.

Thanks - that's good to know. The machines actually count lower than your HRM?!!
