I hear ya! With the weather getting nicer and the outdoor activites increasing it could lead to mindless eating. But....we could focus on getting up and moving around more?? Maybe playing croquet, ladder golf, etc. I do have more energy when the sun is shining!

Well, my PI was increased another 8 today. Wow - that was quick. I did well though and didn't have any yellow spots on my results screen.
Hope you're all having a good day.

Got increased by 34 last night......... killer workout, but managed to increase on 3 machines and burn 426 calories. Not bad for the 2nd time I've worked out in 2 weeks!!
Cold and windy this morning, but walked anyway 2.5 miles (with several long hills) in 40 minues.......3.6mph - I am SO proud of myself! :drinker: :drinker: The pedometer said I only burnd 193 calories, but hard to tell for sure since it measures by stride length and not heart rate. Any suggestions for a good but nout outrageously expensive heart rate monitor??
I went yesterday, but not today.
I bought an Omron pedometer that I plug in my weight, age, stride, etc. It was much cheaper than a HM. I have checked it against MFP's exercise database & a couple of others & I think it's pretty accurate. I decided that at Curves I have the Smartcard, our bike has the same capabilities, so I really just need it for walking.
Since I'm a lot heavier than you, I'd say that's pretty close to accurate. It's disappointing that walking seems like more of a workout, but the calories burned are only 75% of what I burn at Curves.0 -
Hi, ladies. Sorry I've been MIA lately. I got a pinched nerve in my stomach (below my left rib cage) and haven't been able to work out for the last week and a half. I did go to Curves tonight but did not do my SmartCurves program. They modified my program to take out the two machines I can't do. I will use the Smart Card tomorrow. But, even though I didn't use the card, I burned 432 calories.
As far as the heart rate monitor, I really don't know much about them in general. I just got one I thought would work for me.0 -
sorry about your pinched nerve . Hope you recover quickly.0

sorry about your pinched nerve . Hope you recover quickly.
Thanks. Didn't end up going today because I want to go to 24 Hour Fitness for my cardio. But, I will go tomorrow morning.0 -
Goodness - Buddy.
That's too bad. Must be painful.
I went to Curves today & had a decent workout. Not too many members coming in the afternoons like they used to.
How's business at your local?0 -
Hi all:
I went today and then spent the afternoon cleaning and repacking our travel trailer for a camping trip for a couple of days next week.
I usually go to curves in the morning so don't know about afternoons. This morning was kind of low in attendance but it usually is on tues and thurs.
Have a good evening.0 -
Thanks, Georg. It's feeling better now.
I've only been going to mine for 4 weeks and go in the morning so I don't know about the afternoons.0 -
Good morning and happy May Day to all!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Buddy, glad to hear you're feeling better..
Last night was only my 2nd workout for the week. I got increased by 19 last night, but still progressed on 7 machines & burned 432 calories   Missed Wed. because we met our oldest daughter for a belated birthday dinner, ate really smart at Ouback, but then blew the whole day's calories at Coldstone Creamery; :ohwell: :ohwell: birthdays only come once a year, right?? But........ stil lost another 1/2 lb on the scale last night:happy:  so I guess I wasn't as bad as I thought I was!
Getting new carpet installed May 11-12, so lots of sorting, throwing away and moving has to happen between now and then. Not fun!! :grumble: :grumble: I shouldn't complain, we're replacing 30+ year old carpet! I'm slowly dragging my husband out of the 1970's
Tonight going to see Jeff Dunham (ventroloquist who is AWESOME) and this weekend putting ceramic tile in a bathroom, so won't make it to work out before Monday, if then.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!0 -
My PI was raised again by 10 today. It was raised on Monday by 8. That seemed fast! I have a questions. When you put your key card in the kiosk after your workout and the tube fills up - what does that number represent? I NEVER reach the top of that!
mkwood: Wow, your home will be so nice when you get done. Sounds nice. I"m sure you'll get enough exercise with all that you are doing on your home
Have a great weekend.

Well, I showed up at curves at 7:00 a.m. ....however, it doesn't open until 8:00 a.m. So I came home and went back later. I was afraid it wouldn't happen because they close at 11:00 a.m. but I made it! (patting myself on the back)
Have a good day everyone.

Must be a good weekend for a show!
We went to see Celtic Woman last night in concert. It was beautiful.
Check out my ticker!
I'm movin' on down!
:bigsmile:0 -
Good job, ladies. I went yesterday after work and burned 430 calories. Grammy, I'm not sure what the number on the tube means either. Maybe I'll ask when I go Monday morning.0
-
Hello all! I hope you all had a great weekend
Jeff Dunham was great - I laughed so hard my rib and cheeks still were sore on Saturday
Didn't get into Curves on Saturday, but did sneak in a walk yesterday morning. 2.67 miles in 43 minutes - 3.6mph:bigsmile: :glasses:  Wasn't too happy with the dog by the end of the walk - she pulled the leash out of my hand to go "visit" a silly little pug behind a chainlink fence. What a brat!!
No Curves tonight, or probably the rest of the week - progress on preparing the house for carpet is very slow!!:grumble:0 -
Grammy- I asked today about the barrel with numbers when you put in your Smart Card. The numbers are accumulated from your workouts. No one ever fills it up. Some shops use the numbers for competitions.0
-
Hello all:happy:
I am happy to report that I survived the carpet tear out and installation process! LOL
The carpet upstairs looks fantastic and the basement looks 1000% better with a carpeted floor!! Furniture is back where it belongs upstairs; nothing's done in the basement - need at least 4 guys to move the pool table back into place and level it. :grumble:
We decided this would be a great time to get rid of stuff we no longer need and/or use, so we still have to sort, clean and replace all of the other stuff. grumble: :grumble: So.......... I have awesome new carpet,  but I still have lots of work ahead of me before the house is back to "normal"
Hard to say when I'll make it back to Curves - probably not htis week, but Monday I'm going no matter what!!!0 -
Wahooooo!!!!!!!!!

Check out my ticker!!!!!!!!!!

Georg......
Good for you!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker:
I'm afraid to step on a scale - I haven't worked out since April 30 :frown: :frown: :grumble: :grumble: :brokenheart: There's been too much going on with the remodeling of the house, trying to get it put back together and coordinating the college-age daughter's move to a new apartment before June 1st. I'm hoping to start again this week, but have to move a couch and loveseat tonight......... it never ends!!! :grumble: :grumble:
Have you heard from GrammyMax???? Its not like her not to post.........hope she's OK.
Have a good day:happy: :happy:0 -
I haven't been to Curves for a week now because this is a really busy time of year at work. But I've been able to ride the bike for over 1000 calories each day, so that's pretty good.0
-
At least you've gottetn in the bike rides....... I haven't done squat, and I know I'm going to really feel it when I make it back to Curves:grumble: :grumble: .
Gonna try to make it tonight, if some other crisis doesn't pop up between now and 5:00. With my life these days, I never know what's going to happen when I leave work:laugh: :laugh:0 -
Greetings to all on this beautiful, sunny morning!!
FINALLY made it back to Curves last night and was very surprised at my results. Less than 1 pound weight gain (figured it was a whole lot more than that), burned 398 calories in 30 minutes and advanced on half the machines.  Not too bad for not working out since the end of April:grumble: :grumble: I really missed it, and intend to keep going back at least 2 if not 3 times per week. The house will just have to get reassembled more slowly - I need the workouts!!!
Summer's almost here, and I'm nowhere near bikini-worthy  Good thing I ordered a tankini early this spring - I'm sure we'll hit the lake this weekend even though the water's only 64° - BBBRRRRR!!!! Not going in the water but it'll sure be nice to be back on the boat and see "lake friends" at Nudie Beach. No, it's not a real nude beach, it's just what it's called.....  The only nudity I've ever heard about happens later at night after everyone but the hardcore party crowd has gone home. No thanks............ not my style!!:noway:
My goal is to be able to wear the expensive Victoria's Secret bikinis I bought last summer again before the end of this summer! Not too concerned about my actual weight, but I want to look good enough to not be self-conscious showing my belly!!!!
Have a great day all................. :flowerforyou:0 -
Hi! I go to Curves at least 3 times per week for the past 3 years. The current owner has been trying to sell, so she is not very involved in keeping things updated. What are these "smart machines"? Also, I am new to this site and was wondering if someone has an easy way to enter Curves on the Exercise log? I'm not really sure about entering all of the individual machines, because they are based on resistance, not weight. Thanks for any suggestions.0
-
Joelle,
Curves "Smart Machines" are the same machines, but with electronic monitoring on them so that the resistance is changed each time you use a machine, based on your initial test rounds and your "performance index" the last time you worked out. Your "Performance Index" will change each time you sign in, based on your last 10 workouts. You get a small electronic tag that you insert into the computer to sign in and into each machine as you begin the workout on it. It won't let you finish until you've completed a certain number of repitions..... The computer also tells you which machines you need to work harder on and which muscles are targeted on each machine.
Hard to get used to at first, but awesome once you get used to them - the machines make you work harder each time you work out, so you increase your strength AND get an accurate calorie count for each workout.
There's not an excercise log entry for Curves workouts, so I just choose "cardiovascular" and enter the # of minutes it took to complete the workout and stretching and the # of calories the computer said I burned. It's not perfect, but it does give an accurate snapshot of your workout. You could probably do the same thing with "circuit training ", which I found long after i'd begun recording my Curves workouts under cardiovascular.
I hope your local Curves sells soon to someone who wants to put in the technology - it's AWESOME!!:bigsmile:0 -
Hi all,
I'm back from my trip. I went to Curves yesterday and it was really hard. I intended to go to Curves while traveling but the locations were not handy and I didn't have my own car so was kind of trapped. I'm leaving shortly to go back and try again this morning on the Smart Machines. I'll try to read back to where I left and it looks like we have some new ladies posting. WELCOME.
Have a great day,
Esther0 -
I'm not sure when I'll get to go back. Work has been exhausting lately. Late hours & the heat has been draining. So I drag home & then ride the bike under the a/c with the fan blowing right at me.
This will be a busy weekend.
Oh well.
:ohwell:0 -
Don't beat yourself up. You're riding the bike and that is better than sitting on the couch. You're doing good. Stay focused ;-)

Welcome back Grammymax!!! I've been worried about you - you suddenly disappeared!
I've been sick since Wed:sick:  sore throat that sank into my chest, so I'm miserable:( I get this way about every 2 years, and it SUCKS!!!! The weather's finally nice, the lake's warming up, and I feel too crappy to go out on the boat!!!!!:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: .
Oh well............ maybe tomorrow I'll feel better..0 -

I hope he gets well soon.
It sounds like no fun.
:flowerforyou:
I still didn't make it to Curves this week, probably won't happen next week either, due to work schedule. So I called yesterday & had them look up my last weigh stats.
I'm doing good! Better than I thought.:glasses:
I use my home scales for my ticker since at home I weigh weekly & the scales aren't quite the same anyway. According to my last weigh in, I've probably lost 5-7 pounds this past month!
And when I measured, those numbers are dropping too.
Wahoooo!!!!
I'm feeling much better now.0
