And the owner, who hasn't seen me for about 3 weeks asked if I had lost more inches.
I'll weigh in tomorrow & see.

That's great. Whether there are a lot of pounds lost or not having someone notice is even better:wink:
    Good luck,

I hate it when they recalibrate the machines or put new hydraulics on - totally messes up my workout !! The heart-rate recovery station didn't like me again last night; said my pulse was 103 after 10 machines. No way ......... my resting heart rate is 88-94, so my workout calories were screwed up also:grumble: . I added an extra 25 calories when I logged the workout; I know I burned at least that many more just by how tired and sweaty I was when I finished the workoutl The heart-rate machine never measures me consistently - can't be my normally cold hands this time of the year!

Went out for 50¢ tacos with friends last night and then stopped at the neighbors to celebrate a birthday. Had 2 margaritas there and still didn't eat any of my workout calories....... oops!!! It's hard for me to eat those excercise calories on workout days; I'm never very hungry after working out!! :ohwell: :ohwell: I'll probably make up those extra calories tonight; we're meeting the oldest daughter in Topeka for dinner so we can meet her boyfriend.................. as long as he's a decent guy (and seems to be from what little she's told me) I'm fine with him. I'm just happy she's found somebody....... she's been in Kansas City almost 2 years with very few friends. She's shy, so it's hard for her to meet new people.

Well, I finally weighed in today!!!!

In the past 6 weeks I've lost 8 pounds, 4 pounds of body fat & 10 inches!

The owner, who usually weighs & measures me, did it twice to make sure. Since it's so unusual for me...

I've been going there for 6 years, got serious a time or 2 before, but never like this for this long!
MFP & Curves have really been good for me.

    Georg,
    GOOD FOR YOU:happy:

I wish I could lose inches, body fat and pounds like you! Seems like I'm forever stuck losing the same 10 pounds :grumble: :grumble: I'm trying to make it to Curves 3x a week; we'll see if that makes any difference. I've gotten pretty good at watching calories, but those pounds and inches are soooo stubborn....:grumble: It's hard to be good and excercise when the neighbor's deck is calling.......... I've about given up on the hubby, so going to Curves more instead.

    Hey ladies!!!
Not such a good workout yesterday at Curves - PI was increased by 13 and didn't quite make it; burned only 414 calories. :ohwell: :embarassed:
Had to baby my right arm and side - had a small cyst in my breast drained on Tues and it's still kind of sore! The bruise is worse looking today than yesterday - scary!!!! Couldn't get the 2nd cyst drained - 3 extra puncture wounds and STILL have to go back in 3 weeks to see if it's changed.... I can't grumble though - my sister had a mastectomy in April so the doctors are being very understanding about my situation! Hopefully when I go back they'll be able to drain it and then just monitor from there.....

Hoping to be able to burn more calories on Friday - getting my Mother's Day swedish massage tonight - I just love the cool gifts my college-age daughter comes up with for me!!:love:

georg - great job. Aren't you glad you got measured and weighed!

Marla - Hopefully all is well for you. Good idea for a Mother's Day gift. Hmmm....wonder if I could suggest it for a "just cuz gift" :-) (Since Mother's Day has passed)

The machines are so messed up right now that I know none of the results are right. The heart rate machine hardly ever reads right but I was told that isn't really that crucial on the calories burned. Was I misinformed?

    Happy Friday everyone.

I'm jealous. Our Curves doesn't have the new machines. I have no idea how many calories I burn there.

    mk- Take care!
Esther- The heart rate info is to help you see how hard you're working, not determine how many calories you're burning. The calories burned are computed on your weight, reps, range of motion, stuff like that.

We're on vacation now. No Curves close by, but I went to a water aerobics class yesterday with our hosts & that was fun, then I came back to the condo & walked up the 11 stories.
This morning we went scuba diving & I burned 600 calories doing that.
    wahooooo!!!!!!!!!

Good morning ladies!!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend - I certainly did!!

Georg.... I am SO JEALOUS!!! I've always wanted to snorkel or scuba dive.... maybe someday! Of course, I'll have to do it without my husband; when we went to Key West 2 years ago I wanted to snorkel the reefs and he joked about sitting on the boat with a chum bucket!! He never would do that, but he certainly thought it was a funny suggestion!
Esther - I'm finally feeling better!!!  The coughing has disappeared - YAYYYY!!!

Got increased by 10 at Curves Friday night, made that and progressed on 9 machines, but it said I only burned 400 calories....... go figure!:grumble: :grumble:
My right arm/side feels much better, but the bruise is quite spectacular - it's spread to over half the side of the breast and has reached the purple/green/yellow stage. Doesn't hurt, so now it's just a waiting game until my appt on July 7 to see if the cyst has changed and/or grown. I have a gut feeling I'm going to end up with a biopsy, but at least then it'll be gone and we'll know if it's anything to be concerned about. I hate waiting............

Have a good day all!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I'm so glad you're feeling better mk. I am almost back to 100% as well. The waiting on the tests must be hard. I'll be thinking about you and praying for a good outcome. I know two others who are going through the same thing right now. Stay positive

I got retested on the machines that had been tightened and would not conform to my workout  Now, maybe I'll feel better about the results.

Georg - have a great time.

    By for now.

Hey all........ back from a wonderful long weekend in hot and steamy St. Louis! We attended a family reunion for my husband's family-his father's side. Ended up only being 10 of us total, but with 2 1/2 year old twin boys.........we were all busy all weekend! I'd certainly forgotten how hard it is to keep track of and keep us with 2 year olds, much less TWO at the same time!!

Had a great time, walked to the Arch from our hotel the first morning - 3 miles round trip down Market Street, but a hard walk because of the high humidity and climbing temps - it was already over 80 when we started at 7:30am and who knows how humid!! My daughter was going to run the route to the Arch and meet me there (since I was walking) but she couldn't handle the heat/humidity and we missed each other on her return, so she was in a panic that something had happened to me! Nope......Mom was fine, just enjoying the walk

Back to Curves today....... ready to burn some calories!!!
    Have a great day all!!!

    Good morning!!!
My PI was increased by 10 last night at Curves, but I managed to make it! Burned 424 calories, but the heart rate machine hated me again and registered an impossibly low pulse the 2nd circuit, so I'm sure I really burned more than that. Pounds and inches are still stuck :grumble: :frown: :frown: , but at least I'm not gaining:bigsmile: Seriously thinking about digging the Nordic Track out of the storage room so I can get in a workout on the nights I don't hit Curves - too hot outside to walk in the evening and I'm already up at 5:00am to get ready for work - not willing to walk at 4:00am!!!

    The slow struggle continues.................

    Good morning.

My PI was increased by 14 yesterday and darn if there are two machines that I can't quite get right:grumble: I got on of those mini trampolines at a garage sale last week. I'm trying to work on that while I watch a tv show. Too boring to just jump on it without a distraction:laugh:
My scale is stuck as well, but....if I would eat healthy EVERY day instead of just 3 days out of the week!!!!
Have a good day everyone. I"ll be going to CURVES at noon today - hopefully I don't talk myself out of it:frown:
    Bye for now,

Yay, I wanna join you guys 2!
I love Curves, I started going 3 times a week in January and in February was so pleased with my inch loss that I try to go 3-5 times a week. I love it. Started here in June and the compo is great!

    Welcome Jennplus2 and Slimmingmom!!:heart::happy: :heart:

Curves has been the ONLY excercise program I've been able to stick with - I've been a member 2.5 years and will never quit!!! The Smart program is the best thing they've ever come up with - but I DO get frustrated when the computer says I didn't burn as many calories as I think I did!
Every year as I get older for some strange reason the pounds and inches just want to creep back up:laugh: Seriously - I    Curves!!

I absolutely LOVE Curves. I joined on March 26th and as of today I have lost 40 pounds. We started a Biggest Loser contest on June 1-July 31. I have been going 6 times a week and walking 30 minutes at least twice a week. .

I'm walking better, I have less pain in my knees, And my husband said I'm not snoring as bad.

LJCannon - welcome, and GOOD FOR YOU!!!! 40 pounds in 3 months.....wow!!!!

My PI was increased by 11 last night - increased on 10 of 12 machines:happy:  Burned 467 calories - not bad at all, if I can pat myself on the back!!!

Impulse buy Tuesday night at Wallyworld - bought a 22" exercise ball on sale for $8!! VERY unstable, but from I'm told that is normal and that's what forces you to use your abs/core muscles to stabilize yourself. So....... I'll try it and see if it works for me - I can't do regular crunches; too much neck pain :frown: :frown: My problem area is my belly and it's really hard to find something that targets those muscles.

have a good day all :flowerforyou:

LJ - That is great :flowerforyou: You're making great progress.

Marla - How do you know which machines you've increased on? I know that when I'm done I see what I've slacked on but didn't know you could tell which machines were increased!

    Have a great day everyone.

    Esther,
When you scan back into the computer after your workout it shows on the same screen as your attendance reminder and weigh & measure reminder I think it's called "progression". It'll tell you on the right side of the screen how many machines you progressed on, and towards the bottom it'll tell you which machines you progressed on.

Thanks. I remember seeing that screen but didn't know it indicated which machines. I'll have to look tomorrow.
    Have a great evening.

Made it to Curves after an hour delay. Went out to the car and found a flat tire:grumble: After my hubby put on the donut I took the flat to the tire store and they fixed and replaced it. THEN I went on to Curves. At least I didn't say "forget it" and come home! (patting myself on the back)

Hey Esther! I'm here - have been really busy today (that's a change, especially for a Monday!) Had a good weekend, but I'm sure I ate too much :frown: :frown: and didn't work out, except for cleaning the house on Friday morning - 60+ minutes of vacuuming and dusting; better than nothing!!
Haven't stepped on a scale, but I'm headed to Curves when I get off work and I'll brave the scale there:laugh:

Take care - talk to you later!
