CURVES for Women Members?

:flowerforyou: Hi everyone:
My name is Kim and I am 57 y/o. I go to Curves 2-3 times a week. Have since April 09. I've been able to lose 15 lbs. on my own doing Curves and A LOT of walking. I am on week 2/phase 2 of Curves Weight Management program. Anybody here ever tried their diet program? In phase 2 we are supposed to eat 1500 calories a day to boost our metabolism. The first week/phase 1 we ate 1200 calories. I am having trouble eating 1500 calories every day. I feel like I am eating all day long which is a switch from hardly eating anything for the last 20 years and still gaining weight. I sure am hoping this program works for me.
I am happy to see there is a Curves group here to talk with. Keep up the great work everyone.0 -
You gals are all doing so good!
i've been running around most of the summer, so I haven't been to Curves since mid June, but i have been exercising in other ways.
Next week school starts so I expect to start back to Curves, too.0 -
This looks like a fun crowd. Is there room for one mre?
My Curves has the CurvesSmart program, and I have been going 6 days a week since the beginning of June when we started a Biggest Loser Challenge with our Curves and 2 others in neighboring towns. The contest ended July 31. I actually won with a weight loss of 25 pounds / 8.59% :blushing:
I am continuing to go 6 days a week in preparation for our trip to Las Vegas in October.
Well I'm off to bed to rest up for work and Curves early in the morning.0 -
Happy Friday to all!!!
Welcome LJCannon, MoomyFire and Jennplus2! It's always nice to find more Curves devotees...........I love that place!
LJCannon, Congrats on losing 25lbs......AWESOME!!! Its good to hear there's another place that has CurvesSmart.......so many of them don't, and I haven't found one yet while traveling :grumble: :grumble: Kind of frustrating when you are away from home, make the effort to find the local Curves to work out, and then walk in to find no CurvesSmart machines. It feels like there's no resistance on any of the machines!!! Oh well, at least I was trying to be responsible and get in my workout
Have a great day.....headed to Curves tonight for my 3rd workout this week....I wonder if I'll find any more machines that are re-testing everyone.......had 3 on Wednesday - frustrating!!!!:grumble:0 -
:flowerforyou: Hi, Friends:
Got my three Curves workouts in this week and I might go again today. I envy those of you who have the Curves Smart machines. We don't have those here. In fact, this Curves almost closed back in May, so, we have worked hard to keep it open and recruit new members. I sure wish we had the modern machines. At least, I am getting somewhat of a workout. I combine a lot of walking and some light weights with the Curves.
Have a great weekend everyone!0 -
Hi gals,
I'm back. I have been camping and I think I forgot to mention that I would be gone. I'm glad to see that the thread has kept on going without me.
Welcome to the new posters. The more the merrier! Glad you found us.
I'm back to CURVES tomorrow. I visited one when I was on our trip and was really disappointed. The machines were sooooooo loose that I felt like I wasn't even working out. I'll be glad to get back to my own club.
:flowerforyou: Congrats on the 25 lb weight loss LJ! Did you do the Curves Eating program as well? Are you still doing it? I have done it before but that first week of being so hungry has me scared to go for it again but am considering it! Let me know what you think. You could probably address Kim's questions.
MK: Is that what those machines are doing to me? I have been gone so much that I'm going to be retested on all of them when I go back. It's frustrating when the lights don't cooperate!:grumble:
Jen: :flowerforyou: Welcome. When is your brother's wedding? You are doing great on your goals and weight loss.
Kim: I know that uping the calories does help - it's that first phase I'm dreading ;-)
Georg: You and me both - gone a lot this summer The school year will get us back on track
Have a great Sunday,

:flowerforyou: Hi Everyone:
Well, I am not sure the Curves Weight Management program is going to work for me. After eating 1500 calories on phase 2 for three days I gained a pound back that took me so long to lose. And, I still have not lost that pound as of today. I am not very happy. I take two blood pressure medications right now and that keeps my metabolism and heart rate down low, so, increasing calories may not work for me. I am back now to 1200 calories a day to lose the pound I gained and see if that works better for me. I am a bit frustrated, but am not going to quit my efforts.
Going out for my long walk for the day now. Take care and have a wonderful Sunday, friends.0 -
It does seem counterproductive to eat more calories when we are trying to lose weight. I have not been through the weight management class at Curves, but iI did read the book, and I do try to alternate one high calorie day with 2 low calorie days, It seems to be working so far.
As I understand it, with the weight management class/plan it is normal and expected to gain 1-3 pounds. It should come off pretty easily. The main thing is to NOT go below 1200 calories and to make sure you are getting enough protein and water.
Good Luck, Kim...We are pulling for you:happy:0 -
:flowerforyou: Thanks very much, LJ. I had already decided to try your way before reading your post. I will see how that works for me. Today was a high calorie day for me, so, the next two days will be 1200 calories. Hope that scale moves down a bit. Thanks for your support and caring.0
-
Keep in touch and let me know how you are dong. I have a very good friend and a step-sister named Kim so I already feel close to you.
Plus, we both have Curves! :laugh:0 -
Kim, I agree with LJ about the expected 1 - 3 pound gain. But, have you asked anyone on staff at your curves club? We have an awesome Weight Management leader at our curves and I seem to remember that she said that would be normal but don't let the gain get out of hand. I think the main thing is to trick your metabolism by going back and forth with the calorie intake.
I started the Weight Management Plan today and my hubby is supportive so hopefully he will NOT bring home any of those nasty "poison foods" I have lost weight on it before but the older I get the harder it is to be disciplined in this.:grumble: :grumble: :grumble:
Have a great day ladies.

Hello ladies..........
Not doing so great this weekend and today - did something to my upper back/neck late last week, and spent the weekend hurting.:frown: :frown: Felt so rotten this morning that I called my daughter's chiropractor and made an appointment for myself. Wow!!!!!! First time I've gone to one, and I'm impressed!! One visit and my neck feels MUCH better!!!!  Back is still pretty sore, but he told me it would be for awhile; I'd let myself get so tense from the pain that it'll take a few days for everything to relax and stop hurting.
Our insurance doesn't cover chiropractic care, (gee, thanks TRICARE - way to support your veterans and their families! :grumble: :grumble: ), but it's well worth every $ to me not to hurt! He said it's OK for me to continue to work out, just to listen to my body and stop if something hurts. Makes perfect sense to me So, will hit Curves tonight and see how I do......0 -
:flowerforyou: Oh, Thanks, LJ. That is neat you have two other Kim's in your life and I make three. I really appreciate your support.0
-
:flowerforyou: Hi, Grammymax: Thanks so much for your reply. I have my Curves weight management meeting tomorrow, so, I will ask about it then. I just don't want to go backwards and gain even one more pound back. It is so hard for me to lose weight, especially since I'm older now, too. :grumble:
Good luck with your Curves weight management. We meet every Tuesday to see videos and have discussion. There are about five of us in our group, all different sizes and goals to achieve. I wish you the very best on your journey. Let me know how you are doing.0 -
No curves for me today. I had to take our truck in for repair and they will probably have it all day so...I walked home from the mechanic. That was my cardio - yucky sweaty walk! But I feel better for doing it.
Have a good day.

My Curves closed up last week!

:flowerforyou: Just got back from my Curves workout and weight management meeting. A couple of the girls in my group gained 6 lbs. this week eating 1500 calories, so, I shouldn't be too upset with a one lb. gain, which I still haven't lost. Sigh! I will keep trying.0
-
Georg, I am so sorry about your Curves. I don't know what I would do if 'my' Curves closed. Is there another one in your vicinity? Hopefully you can find another gym or a community center nearby?
Scuba diving sounds fun. I would love some day to 'swim" with sharks. At least as long as I have a sturdy cage around me! I know it will have to wait awhile. I doubt they have wet suits in 3X
Kim, keep the faith. Be sure you aren't cutting your calories too much, and just wait for that darn scale to co-operate:grumble: In the meantime focus on how much better you are feeling. This lifestyle isn't just about the numbers on the scale. It is about getting healthy and living a long time with our kids and grandkids (and dogs)0 -
Good morning ladies,
I went to Curves - dragging my feet because I had a headache and I am weak from doing the 1st week of the Curves Weight Loss progam. But, I'm glad I went and I felt better after I was done.
Hope you're all having a good day.
Esther0 -
:flowerforyou: Hi Friends:
Went to Curves this morning, too. Was upset about something before I went, but feel better now. Finally lost that pound I gained last week, so, that is a good thing. And, it is a beautiful day here outside, about 75 and sunny, and that always makes me feel better, too.
Georg, I am so sorry your Curves has closed down. Ours almost did back in March, but new ladies took over the management and things are going better. I hope you will be able to find a place close to home to exercise. Maybe it will reopen in the future???
Take care, friends and keep strong.0 -

My Curves closed up last week!
Georg,
I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRYYYY!!!!!!!! I don't know what I'd do without my Curves......it's been my sanity break so many times!!! Is there something similary close by?0 -

Thanks.
Nope.
Only gyms for the rich, beautiful & stinky in our little town.
:frown:
The owner also had a Curves in a town 25 miles away. She closed them both.
So. It's just a bike & walking for me from now on.
And -
LJ!
You can try my wetsuit any time! If it fits me, it'll fit you!0 -
:flowerforyou: Thanks, Georg. I will call you as soon as I'm ready to go swimming with the sharks!0
-
Gerog: Sorry about the closing of your Curves. You could still post here if you want and let us know how you're doing. Maybe another will open soon. Will your membership be recognized in another club if it does open?
I didn't go to Curves today. Still fighting that migrane and just couldn't get myself out the door. I may go later - we'll see.
Have a great day ladies.

:flowerforyou: Hi Friends:
I didn't go to Curves today. I went to the dentist instead. Such fun!! I go back to work tomorrow and will work Mondays and Fridays, so, no Curves those days, but will go Tues, Wed, and Thurs. It will be nice to see everyone at work. We have the summer months off until the middle of August, so, it has been a while since I have seen my coworkers.
Take care and have a great Friday.0 -
:flowerforyou: Hi Friends:
I hope everyone had a nice Friday today. It was hot here in Colorado. I am happy it is dark now and much cooler. The scale finally moved down one pound after a couple weeks of being stuck. That makes me happy. Hope to continue in that direction.
Have a wonderful weekend.0 -
:drinker: Congratulations on getting the scale to move. Now it is back on the downhill slide again. I am very happy for you.
Have a GREAT weekend
Jeannie0 -
:flowerforyou: Thanks very much, Jeannie. You have a GREAT weekend, too.0

HEY - where is everyone? I need you
I'm off to Curves now. I'll check when I get back. I was up 13 yesterday but two of the machines are on the fritz and the sensors don't work so that doesn't help my results.
HAve a good day,
Esther0
