CURVES for Women Members?

I have been going to Curves regularly since the first of April this year. I am doing the CurvesSmart thing and at first I got mostly green balls and I NEVER had any residual left at the end.
Lately I almost ALWAYS have residual, even when I do 3-4 machines after the Key says I am done. I feel that I am giving it 100%, but the computer does not reflect that I am progressing.
:frown: Are you supposed to be re-tested on the machines periodically or am I maybe doing something wrong? I know I need to ask the employees about it-and I will-but I wanted to know if anyone else has experianced this?
LJCannon,
Sounds like you need to be re-tested. Like I said in an earlier post, I've gotten all green balls twice in 16 months; and almost always have residual left.:grumble:
You may have an increased PI and not realize it, which would explain why you end up with residual most times. Has your PI gotten increased every time you work out? The computer shows you your new PI (and # of increase or decrease) every time you scan in.0 -

I agree. I am having the same problem and my curves staff says I need to be retested. Especially since they have tightened some of the machines. I would ask someone at the club. You're still getting the workout but if you're like me - and it sounds like you are - you want those green dots when you're working hard

MKwood 10 - I'm accepting a few yellow is ok when I'm consistently burning over 500 calories at each Curves work-out. Especially when Curves is the 3rd workout of the day.
I walk 40 minutes daily , then 3 days/week run 2 miles then do Curves after dinner. Curves I hit a minimum of 3 days week.
So, Today when there's a few yellow balls I think it's fine I had burned over 450 calories today BEFORE I did Curves.
The smart machine seems to keep increasing my intensity. So..... I got thinking what's a few yellow.0 -

Yes, I think you're doing very well. WOW!0 -
Thanks I appreciate it.
Now I need to accept eat more.
One of the curves trainers determined I wasn't losing weight because I wasnt eating enough for the amount of exercising I was doing. I had lost 8lbs then plateau then gained 6lbs.
So this is day 8 of eating more calories. We'll see what the scale says later in the week.

Hang in there BAIcott - you should have a pleasant surprise when you weigh in.... I did the same thing and once I started eating more calories for about a week the scale shifted downward- yeah!!!
Bone tired last night, but had an awesome workout - 476 calories burned - yeah me!!!::laugh:
Bone tired because daughter had urgent surgery on Tues to remove a kidney stone stuck in uterer (tube between kidney and bladder).....yikes!!! They were able to do it outpatient, so she didn't have to spend the night hospitalized, but what a LONG and SCARY DAY!!!! She's doing better, but was still in a lot of pain yesterday because of the stent they put in the uterer. Not much she can do about that except suffer thru it until Monday when they remove it - had to put it in to allow the uterer to heal; the stone was stuck for about 3 days and really irritated the uterer.
Slept like a rock last night, feel almost back to myself today0 -
Oh my - that is a scary night. Hope she recovers quickly. Glad you were there for her.
I have done my workout and still get those yellow spots. Maybe I'll get retested next week ... but, I know that I"m getting a workout and that's what counts.
Have a great day,

It's seems backwards to eat more to lose weight doesn't it? I know it works though. You are working out a LOT. Hope you see a great result.

Hope you're all doing well. I'm struggling because I injured my back last Thursday. I won't be going to curves for a few days until it's better.
Have a great monday,

:flowerforyou: Hope you feel better soon Esther. Back pain is never any fun and I know you miss Curves too.0
-
Esther, I hope you feel better soon! Back pain is so FRUSTRATING.. can't do anything to make it stop hurting, and everything hurts:sad:
Burned 488 calories last night at Curves!!!!!
I may make it to the 500 calorie mark yet!! To paraphrase Dori..........just keep trying.... just keep trying ..... just keep trying....... (I loved the movie Finding Nemo!!).
My daughter's much happier and finally pain free, as they took the stent from the kidney stone removal surgery out yesterday. Hopefully her life can settle back down now - she's missed almost 2 weeks of work and class because of this.......... I've told her I'll cover the salary she'll be short from work. The kid's on a super tight budget this school year because of the recession. She lost more than half of her scholarship money from several sources because they couldn't afford to give as much due to their financial losses in the stock market. It's a terrible cycle.......hope things get better soon.0 -
I haven't been to curves at all this week because of my back. I'm hoping by Monday I can go back and just avoid the squat machine for a while.
mk: I'm glad your daughter is doing better. That sounds very painful. And the scholarship thing. I hope she can keep her chin up and look for positives - which is difficult I'm sure. Glad you're there for her.
Have a great weekend.

Hello all!!!
Hope everyone is doing alright - I know we're all busy because we don't get in here and post like we used to !
Back up to 129 yesterday at Curves :frown: I think I'm permanently stuck at 129-130 until I figure out some additional way to burn calories AND avoid the after-dinner munchies that hit me mot nights:grumble: :grumble: . I just don't have the willpower to resist grabbing something to munch on....I'm such an idiot.
My PI was "only" increased by 9 last night, and I didn't have any residual left at the end of the workoug!!! Burned 439 calories - surprised it wasn't more, as tired as I was when I finished.0 -
I worked out for an hour this morning at Curves. It was GREAT. I was pooped.
 But on the way home I stopped at 7-11 for coffee/ cappucino and the Clerk asked me if I had lost weight. I have been going in that 7-11 for years (we live right around the corner behind the store) and all the clerks know me well.
 After she told me how good I am looking, I ALMOST felt like going back to Curves.:laugh:0 -

Yesterday I did something at Curves that I've NEVER done before...................... broke the 500 calories burned barrier!!!!!!!:        I couldn't believe it when I got to the calories burned screen and it said 502..........woo hoo!!!!!!! Now if I can just continue to do it........that's almost better than the scale moving downward.......almost, but not quite:laugh:
Have a great day!!!

Hi all,
I have not been back to Curves for 2 weeks. My back is still bothering me. Maybe next Monday I can start fresh again. Then I'll only have one week and I'll be gone for almost 3 so I'll have to do some long walks or run (?????):noway:
Good job ladies. You're both doing great.
Esther
p.s. An early Happy Birthday to both of you:happy:0 -
:flowerforyou: Esther I do hope your back gets better soon. I know you must be miserable.
Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes.0 -
:flowerforyou: MK, Congrats on breaking the 500 barrier. I am getting close to it (on good days:laugh: ) but not close enough to brag about it though. My day is coming!!!0
-
I guess Monday will be the day to go back. Today I"m still a little sore so I'll wait. I'll probably have to be retested when this is all done. :grumble:
Have a great weekend.

Hello everyone
I've been working out 3 times a week, haven't broke the 500 calorie barrier again (big surprise, the computer changed my fitness level):grumble: :grumble: .
Yesterday was weigh/measure day:frown: :frown: Weight went UP since last time (Aug), but lost 1" on my belly, 1/2" on thighs and dropped a little body fat (.8%). The only way I can tell that things are changing is fitting into winter clothes that were tight last spring - yeah!!!
Back up to 466 calories burned and progressed on 11 machines, so that's progress.
Motivation sucks these days...........don't know what to do to get re-motivated.....obviously NOT gonna make my birthday weight goal:noway: .......any suggestions???
Sooooooooooooo frustrated!!!! :mad:0 -
Just toss out the scale and it's numbers. The important thing is how you FEEL. Your clothes are fitting better, you are losing inches--those are two dependable indicators that GOOD things are going on in your body.
Are you feeling better? Breathing easier when you exercise? Sleeping better? LOOKING HOT?!?
The scale is NOT your friend and it is not the only or even best way to measure your progress.0 -
I agree. The inches lost are so much more rewarding. I am struggling with motivation as well. I get up each morning thinking this is the day to get on track but then I slip during the day. I've been down with a cold too so that doesn't help.
I'll be gone from the 13th through the 29th and don't know how often I'll be online but I'll be thinking of you as you are at curves and crunching those machines  Keep on keeping on.
Esther0 -
Esther,
I hope you're enjoying wherever you are until the 29th...........I'd love to take 2+ weeks off, go back to where I grew up and see lots of family when it's not for a funeral.
Still hitting Curves faithfully, and still working my way back towards that elusive 500 calories burned mark again! 465 last night, so it's not out of reach!!!
Not much new here - fall has definitely arrived in full force, with a bit of winter mixed in over the weekend - we had snow flurries on Sunday:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: .
Take care all.................

Happy belated birthday LJCannon........meant to get on the site earlier to give good wishes for the day, but it just didn't happen. The stress factor in my life has skyrocketed in the past 48 hours.......... :frown: :frown:
My hubby's retired from the Army, but he still works for the Army as a civilian and being deployed IS part of his job description. Found out on Wednesday afternoon that he is headed overseas again...... He'll be heading to Afghanistan before Thanksgiving to replace a guy who had to be brought back to the states for family emergency or medical, not sure which (not that it matters). Right now we don't know if it'll just be to finish that guy's deployment, which would mean home sometime in February, or (more likely) it'll be a full 6 month deployment. I'm figuring on him being gone the 6 months, and it'll be a great thing if he comes back home sooner. We'll know more by the middle of next week, including when he flys out.
Our daughters aren't too happy, especially the youngest one, who is a senior in college. Her reaction was fear that he volunteered to go back overseas to make extra money because we're having to help her out with finances this year. She lost over half of her scholarship $ this year due to the economy; the organizations just couldn't afford to give as much as they have in the past. It took a lot of talking to convince her that he didn't volunteer; he was just at that point in the rotation roster.
Gonna be very hectic for me the next month until he leaves, then things will settle down some.....going to be a struggle to keep the weight and inches steady until after he leaves. Don't know how often I'll get back into the site, but I will be trying to maintain the progress I've made so far.................0 -
Thank you for the birthday wishes. I was out of town until yesterday (Las Vegas) so this is the first time I've been back on the website since my Birthday. It was a good birthday. I will try to post some pictures later.
Your husband and family will be in my prayers during this time. Please keep us informed when you can and feel free to vent here if you need someone to just listen or to pray for specific needs.0 -
hi ladies i am a member too Nov. 2nd will be a full month i weighed in @ 248lbs today i weigh 242lbs:happy: good luck to all0
-
Hello all!!
The hubby leaves for Virginia on Nov. 8 to do final outprocessing, and then starts his multiple day journey to Afghanistan on Nov. 13. He IS going for the full 6 months:frown: :frown: . The only good thing about that is that they start counting days on the day he leaves KS, so he'll be home before Mother's Day I can be looking great by then!!!
The daughters and I are doing OK so far - last night was hard for me; I called my parents and sister to let them know what was going on. They just don't understand why he still has to do things like this deployment when he's retired from the Army.......... I don't think they'll ever understand because they haven't lived the life. My brother understands; he was active duty for 8 years.
The next 10 days are going to fly by, so don't know when I'll be able to check in again............so everyone take care!!!
