Dawna, tell your Mom Congratulations and give her a big High 5 from me. My mother is a Curves member too. Her weight loss is not going too good so far, but she really joined to regain some strength and endurance. THAT is going good. I know the weightloss will come with time.

 Marla, you are going to look so good when your hubby gets home, you will knock his socks off! We will be here to support and encourage you while he is away. We will keep your whole family in our prayers. Just take care of YOU, and update us when you are able.

    Hello all!!

The hubby leaves for Virginia on Nov. 8 to do final outprocessing, and then starts his multiple day journey to Afghanistan on Nov. 13. He IS going for the full 6 months:frown: :frown: . The only good thing about that is that they start counting days on the day he leaves KS, so he'll be home before Mother's Day   I can be looking great by then!!!:wink:

The daughters and I are doing OK so far - last night was hard for me; I called my parents and sister to let them know what was going on. They just don't understand why he still has to do things like this deployment when he's retired from the Army.......... I don't think they'll ever understand because they haven't lived the life. My brother understands; he was active duty for 8 years.

The next 10 days are going to fly by, so don't know when I'll be able to check in again............so everyone take care!!!
    Marla
I'll be thinking about you and praying for your family. That has to be a difficult time. Be sure to thank him for serving our county so willingly.

Okay - I'm back from vacation and I don't know of anything coming up that should cause me to see that wagon in the distance (you know, the one I fell off of:laugh: ) . My grandson's 1st birthday is Sunday and we'll have to have a party but I can be strong! I'm making the cake but that doesn't mean I have to eat any!

Monday I'll go back to curves after my back injury and vacation - that should be an eye opener!

    Bye for now.

Thanks. I'm trying to get back on track. I know the smart machines will have to wait a couple of weeks until I get back into the groove!

    Hi,
I finally got back to Curves this morning. It felt good to get up and move again! I will not be doing the smart machines for this week and then next week I will be retested on the machines with a modified version for the squat machine. That's the one that I did wrong so I'm a little leary of going there!!!!

    Have a great day everyone.

We just call the Squat Machine "The Beast" I'm so sorry to hear that it is the one where you got hurt. I don't blame you for being leary of it.

   LOL!!! In our club we call it "Bertha".....not sure why, but we all hate it with a passion!

T-minus 3 days plus a few hours.............the hubby's flight to start his deployment to Afghanistan leaves at 7:30am on Sunday......yuk!! The only good thing about it is he leaves from our regional airport 20 miles from home instead of having to drive all the way to Kansas City (130 miles).

I've been swamped at work this week coordinating stuff for two vacant position searches we just opened up (I provide all the computer and logistical support for the search committee). So........I haven't had time to dwell at work, which is a good thing.

I have my Curves bag with me in the car; the plan is to go there tonight and work off some stress - my neck and upper back are hurting......that's where I carry my stress.:ohwell: :ohwell: :ohwell:

Enjoy the rest of the week.........and the sunshine if you've got it!!

 I don't know if it is the machines or the stretching or just the atmosphere, but I know Curves does help with relieving stress and tension in my shoulders and upper back.

Give your Hubby a hug for all of us. He--and you--will stay in my prayers until he is back home safely where he belongs.

Marla: Thank him again for serving our country.

I've been to curves this morning. Feel like I'm not really working hard but am so afraid of hurting myself again. Still a little tender.

    Have a great day,

Esther, go easy and your confidence will return. The important thing is that you are there and working out. You will be back to normal soon.

    Hello all!!!

Well...........I survived putting the hubby on the plane yesterday morning.....I think this leaving has been harder on him than on me this time....not sure why. He's in VA out-processing until Friday when he flies to Kuwait City and points beyond. Today he's had "Death by Powerpoint" all day, so we played email tag all morning

I stepped back on the scale this morning.........not good :frown: :frown: :frown: but I expected it. The last 2 weeks I barely worked out and of course ate like crap. But........... I gave myself yesterday to feel sorry for myself and eat like crap for the last time. Today I started logging my foods again and will be back to the workouts at least 3 times a week.

So.....my journey to a smaller body begins once again.....176 days to a newer, less flabby me!!!

I'm glad the departure went as well as it could:ohwell: I think you were wise to give yourself a day to rest before getting back to work on your body and goals. How are the kids doing?

:noway: I hate playing e-mail tag. And also when someone calls and the cell phone sends it directly to voicemail for no reason.

    Good morning!!

Curves wasn't as bad as I thought it might be last night. Weigh and measure were ugly, but I expected that after the way my life has been since we got the notification of the hubby leaving. Still able to burn 398 calories, which wasn't bad for missing as many workouts as I've missed.

Have a good day all!

Glad the computer at Curves was good to you. I had a good workout too.

I have a friend who is going to join Curves Saturday (payday is Friday:happy: ). This will be the third member that I've brought in. Three free T-Shirts for me!!!

Hello everyone! Hope you all enjoyed the weekend and you're not getting snow/rain mix like I'm getting!!:grumble: :grumble: I'd much rather it got cold and snowed; much easier to deal with than the cruddy mix that creates black ice:grumble: :grumble:

Scale's back down to 129 - yeah!!!  Got busy Friday night after I got home and forgot to post. Ate sensibly all weekend; amazing how you can do that when you're all alone!!
Speaking of alone, the hubby called me yesterday morning from Kuwait!! He was waiting on a flight to A'ghan and hoping to make it to the base he'll be at by mid week. So, he's dropped off the face of the earth for now, but he'll eventually be able to make contact again. It was so good to hear his voice, and I'm sure hearing mine helped him out - being stuck in airports isn't the best way to spend a weekend:laugh:

Swamped at work, so really should get back to the spreadsheets...........

Hello, and No we aren't getting snow or rain but the weather is just COLD!!! Hubby says I just feel it more this year because I don't have as much 'insulation' as I did at this time last year.:grumble:

I'm glad you got to talk to your Hubby; and you're right, hanging around in airports is never fun no matter what the circumstances are.

Stay warm and tell your Hubby when you can that I am praying for him to stay safe over there. I don't know whether to pray for him to be warm or cold because I haven't heard anything about their weather lately. So I guess I'll just say "Safe and Comfy"

Hello!! Grammy.........what happened to you???? I miss you!!!

LJ...your hubby's comments about not having as much "insulatiion" sound great - what an awesome feeling it must be to have lost a substantial amount of weight!

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas to Grammymax, LJCannon and everyone else!

December's been a crazy month, BUT I have managed to lose 7 pounds (4 that I gained in the 2 1/2 weeks before he deployed and 3 additional), 2" overall and over 1% body fat since the hubby left for Afghanistan. It's 4:00 Christmas Eve afternoon, both of my girls are home, it's snowing and blowing, the fire's warm and toasty and I'm as much in the Christmas spirit as I'm going to get. It's just not right this year with the hubby gone. We've been together over 29 years and have only been apart for Christmas 3 times, including this year. I don't know what I'd do without being able to work off my frustrations at Curves.......

:flowerforyou: :drinker: Congrats Marla on losing 7 Pounds! Obviously you are staying on track in spite of all the craziness this month.

My PLAN was to be home this Christmas since I had been with my sister and Dad the past 2 years on Christmas. Yesterday afternon when I went to check on the elderly lady who I take care of, it was the middle of a blizzard. I got stuck at the end of her driveway. I called my Husband and told him not to even try to come get me because the roads and weather was so bad. The wind was blowing so much that it was near "White Out" conditions. I spent the night with her--Thank Goodness I leave a few of my grocerys (milk, coffe, tea) over there. Today at noon Hubby was able to get me--and 3 other cars--unstuck, and shoveled another neighbors sidewalk.

Glad it is over and I am finally home. I called Mom but told her we are NOT coming over even though it is only 3 miles. It is just too bad on the roads. She was very Kool with it. Didn't want us out in it anyway.

Keeping you and yours in our prayers. Glad you have your kids with you.

    Hello everyone.

Long time lurker here. I joined MFP around this time last year, and lost about 16lb in 3 weeks. Of course that wasn't sustainable, and I had a major life change and totally neglected my eating and exercise. I've managed to keep 10lb off (14lb up until Christmas came and I went mad with gingerbread and the like!). I've been a member of Curves for about two years, but sadly have not attended since May 09. Oh dear. But I looked at myself with my sisters this Christmas, such beautiful lean healthy girls, and decided I was really tired of being the fat sister. I want to feel and look healthy and lean too!

So I'm back here, logging everything I eat and being careful to make the most of what I eat nutritionally, and I am going to be going back to Curves three times a week. Since I last visited, the club has actually mvoed to new premises, which my mother tells me are great, and have a massage therapist and the like. I'm going for the first time tomorrow evening after work, and am really looking forward to it. I've also bought a health magazine which I would secretly look at my sister's copy of but felt like I wasn't 'allowed' to buy because of my weight. I love it, it's a really good motivator for me.

This year is my year. I told my sisters, by Christmas 2010, I will be at my goal weight. I'm determined.

Looking forward to catchign up with everyone, and hearing about your Smartcurves (pretty sure my club doesn't have that, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised?)

I am glad you are starting off the new year early and Right, with Curves. I do hope your club has the SmartCurves Program, it really is fun.
:flowerforyou: 2010 will be YOUR Year to meet all your goals with MFP and Curves. I pray that your staff at Curves is as supportive and encouraging as mine is. I would not be where I am without them.

I play email tag with him every morning and talk to him almost every night. We're very fortunate to have the technology we do these days:smile: Makes life alone easier when you know he's OK.

I am sure that LOTS of people are grateful for the e-mail and internet contacts they can use. They sure didn't have that years ago. I am glad he is safe. And it looks like you are right on track to be at your goal when he gets home.

    Hi!!!
I'm doing OK and so are my girls. The oldest turned 26 on Tuesday, which made me feel OLD!!!!  I hate to think how I'm going to feel the end of March when the youngest turns 21 and wants me to come along for her birthday pub crawl!!!!:drinker: :drinker: The hubby's doing as well as can be expected for someone who is halfway around the world from his family and modern comforts, but at least we get to talk every day; that helps a lot!!!

We've had sunshine here all week - MAYBE spring is finally getting close! I know I've about had it with winter:grumble: :grumble: :grumble:

 This is the third time I have tried to send this. The computer keeps kicking me off just as I hit 'send'.

It is good to hear from you, I am glad that your husband is able to stay in touch. Kids do have a way of making us feel OLD before our time. I can't believe that my oldest one is 30!! And the youngest one is 28. How could that happen!?!
